Hello there. After the weather this weekend and the sunshine,

0:00:010:00:03

you're probably thinking that

0:00:030:00:05

perhaps the weather has turned a corner.

0:00:050:00:07

I wish I could say it's going to settle down.

0:00:070:00:09

I can show you the sunshine that we had on Sunday -

0:00:090:00:12

this was a weather watcher picture in Derbyshire,

0:00:120:00:14

lovely blue skies, and of course, warm in the sunshine.

0:00:140:00:17

Much better day across Keswick, what a difference a day made here.

0:00:170:00:21

And warmer conditions across much of northern England.

0:00:210:00:23

However, over the week ahead,

0:00:230:00:25

yes, there will be some sunshine around at times this week,

0:00:250:00:28

but there will be some heavy showers, maybe some longer spells

0:00:280:00:30

of rain, and towards the latter part of the week,

0:00:300:00:32

it will be turning a little bit cooler

0:00:320:00:34

as the wind starts to pick up.

0:00:340:00:36

The rain is holding off until we move into Monday,

0:00:360:00:39

we've got this weather system coming in

0:00:390:00:41

from the Atlantic, thickening the cloud

0:00:410:00:43

as we head into Monday and bringing with it

0:00:430:00:45

some outbreaks of rain. The rain very quickly moving

0:00:450:00:47

across Scotland, where there will be some heavy bursts of rain,

0:00:470:00:50

and we'll see some patchy rain and showers

0:00:500:00:51

across Northern Ireland, across western parts

0:00:510:00:53

of England and Wales.

0:00:530:00:55

Further east, across the Midlands,

0:00:550:00:57

eastern England, it may well be dry.

0:00:570:00:58

There will be some hazy sunshine.

0:00:580:01:00

It could be quite a warm start to the week

0:01:000:01:02

in the south-east. Mid 20s, possibly.

0:01:020:01:04

Under the rain, stuck at 17 or 18 degrees.

0:01:040:01:07

And that rain gets its act together

0:01:070:01:08

towards the end of the afternoon and into the evening,

0:01:080:01:11

heavier rain in the south-west and Wales,

0:01:110:01:12

that will push its way through the Midlands,

0:01:120:01:14

northern England, into southern and eastern Scotland.

0:01:140:01:17

Showery bursts in the south-east of England,

0:01:170:01:19

drying off in Northern Ireland

0:01:190:01:21

and Western Scotland.

0:01:210:01:22

Temperatures about 13 or 14 degrees.

0:01:220:01:24

The worst of the rain just about cleared by Tuesday,

0:01:240:01:27

heading out into the North Sea and the Northern Isles,

0:01:270:01:29

leaving behind some showers,

0:01:290:01:30

maybe some very heavy ones,

0:01:300:01:32

not far from the south-east corner,

0:01:320:01:34

where there's still a bit of warmth.

0:01:340:01:36

But some sharp showers further north as well.

0:01:360:01:37

Driest weather for Wales

0:01:370:01:39

and the south-west of England.

0:01:390:01:41

And those showers will fade away

0:01:410:01:42

very quickly during the evening,

0:01:420:01:44

as we get this bump of high pressure,

0:01:440:01:45

but that gets squeezed out in turn

0:01:450:01:47

by a big area of low pressure that's coming

0:01:470:01:49

all the way across the Atlantic

0:01:490:01:51

from the north-east of the United States.

0:01:510:01:53

It's making slow progress into Northern Ireland,

0:01:530:01:56

Wales and the south-west, cloud thickening,

0:01:560:01:58

rain probably arriving during the afternoon.

0:01:580:02:00

Further north and east, it may well be a dry day.

0:02:000:02:02

Quite cloudy, mind you,

0:02:020:02:03

hazy sunshine, but a dry day nonetheless.

0:02:030:02:06

The rain starts to move on overnight,

0:02:060:02:09

and we'll see a band of rain pushing into northern

0:02:090:02:12

and eastern areas, then generally

0:02:120:02:14

out of the way for Thursday.

0:02:140:02:16

But leaving behind sunshine and showers on Thursday,

0:02:160:02:18

some of them could be heavy,

0:02:180:02:20

possibly even thundery. There are some gusty winds

0:02:200:02:22

especially towards the south-west.

0:02:220:02:24

Temperatures will be a little bit lower,

0:02:240:02:26

probably, by then.

0:02:260:02:28

The low pressure is still around,

0:02:280:02:29

sitting centre to the north-west of the UK.

0:02:290:02:32

Not just Thursday, but into Friday as well,

0:02:320:02:34

beginning to arrive closer to Northern Ireland.

0:02:340:02:37

So we will see bands of showers,

0:02:370:02:39

one area of showery rain

0:02:390:02:40

clearing away from the north-east.

0:02:400:02:42

Showers then following in its wake.

0:02:420:02:44

Those temperatures are lower,

0:02:440:02:45

16, 17 degrees across some Western parts of the UK.

0:02:450:02:48

Heading into the weekend,

0:02:480:02:50

we've still got that area of

0:02:500:02:51

low pressure, but it's shrinking,

0:02:510:02:53

pulling away, so things start to dry up

0:02:530:02:55

in the second half of the weekend.

0:02:550:02:57

But there is another big low

0:02:570:02:58

coming in from the Atlantic,

0:02:580:02:59

and there's a bit of tropical air in that.

0:02:590:03:02

The Jet stream is diving to the south.

0:03:020:03:04

For a while, it may just bend

0:03:040:03:06

northwards across the UK,

0:03:060:03:08

allowing us some drier weather

0:03:080:03:09

for the second half of the weekend.

0:03:090:03:11

But beyond then, the outlook

0:03:110:03:13

is still very unsettled,

0:03:130:03:14

often on the cool side as well.

0:03:140:03:16

Most of the rain looks like it may well be

0:03:160:03:18

across the northern half of the UK.

0:03:180:03:20

Some uncertainty across the models,

0:03:200:03:23

but perhaps a bit drier

0:03:230:03:24

and maybe a little bit warmer

0:03:240:03:25

towards the south.

0:03:250:03:26

But stay tuned for more changes

0:03:260:03:28

in the days ahead.
