Hello. It looks like temperatures will slowly be on the rise

0:00:020:00:04

through the early part of next week, and it's partly down to the system

0:00:040:00:08

which has been pushing its way across the UK through Sunday

0:00:080:00:11

because embedded in this area of cloud

0:00:110:00:13

is the remnants of ex-hurricane Gert

0:00:130:00:15

which has been whizzing its way across the Atlantic

0:00:150:00:17

and will slowly introduce more moisture,

0:00:170:00:19

and also eventually some tropical air.

0:00:190:00:21

Not quite tropical across the UK on Sunday,

0:00:210:00:24

but there was some sunshine, especially across eastern areas.

0:00:240:00:26

A different story further west - the cloud has been increasing,

0:00:260:00:29

some mists and fog and some outbreaks of rain.

0:00:290:00:32

And we'll still see some of that during Monday morning

0:00:320:00:34

as the system continues to push its way across the country,

0:00:340:00:37

not just cloud and some outbreaks of rain,

0:00:370:00:39

but also some visibility problems, some mist and fog,

0:00:390:00:42

during Monday morning, particularly across southern

0:00:420:00:44

and central parts of England and parts of Wales.

0:00:440:00:46

But the rain here will slowly fizzle out through the morning.

0:00:460:00:49

It'll keep going across Northern Ireland and eventually

0:00:490:00:52

push into parts of north-west England

0:00:520:00:53

and western parts of Scotland.

0:00:530:00:55

But away from here, should become mainly dry through the afternoon.

0:00:550:00:58

We'll keep quite a lot of clouds,

0:00:580:01:00

so any brightness or sunshine at a premium.

0:01:000:01:01

If the sun does come out for any length of time,

0:01:010:01:04

we'll see values a degree or so higher than this.

0:01:040:01:06

Through tomorrow evening our band of rain

0:01:060:01:08

continues to push its way across Scotland

0:01:080:01:10

skirting with parts of north-east England.

0:01:100:01:12

Still some rain for Northern Ireland for a time as well.

0:01:120:01:14

It becomes dry elsewhere, but a lot of cloud.

0:01:140:01:16

There'll be some mist and fog - once again some visibility problems

0:01:160:01:20

and an increasingly humid night

0:01:200:01:21

with lows not much lower than 15 or 16 Celsius.

0:01:210:01:25

As we look ahead to Wednesday, well,

0:01:250:01:27

this weather front is still with us,

0:01:270:01:29

bringing outbreaks of rain to Scotland

0:01:290:01:31

and some showers eventually to parts of Northern Ireland as well.

0:01:310:01:34

But elsewhere on Tuesday, mainly dry,

0:01:340:01:36

and that cloud breaking a little bit more than we saw on Monday.

0:01:360:01:39

So we should see some good spells of sunshine,

0:01:390:01:42

and that will help temperatures

0:01:420:01:43

up to between 23 and 25 Celsius,

0:01:430:01:46

and those values getting even higher on Wednesday for some,

0:01:460:01:49

because out to the west is a cold front.

0:01:490:01:51

As its name implies, behind it is some fresher conditions,

0:01:510:01:54

and that will be slowly pushing its way eastwards through the day.

0:01:540:01:57

The cold front bringing some fairly heavy rain for a time

0:01:570:02:00

across western parts of Scotland and also north-west England.

0:02:000:02:02

Should clear from Northern Ireland to leave a much fresher day.

0:02:020:02:06

Got some good spells of sunshine

0:02:060:02:07

across East Anglia and south-east England

0:02:070:02:09

and here, highs of 25, 26 Celsius,

0:02:090:02:11

maybe even higher,

0:02:110:02:13

but a fresher feel further west

0:02:130:02:15

even though we'll see some sunshine.

0:02:150:02:18

And we'll all be in that fresher air on Thursday

0:02:180:02:20

as the westerly winds pick up a little bit of strength.

0:02:200:02:22

There'll be further rain, I'm afraid, for Northern Ireland,

0:02:220:02:25

and some showers for Scotland. But elsewhere, a mainly dry day,

0:02:250:02:28

maybe one or two showers getting down to parts of Wales,

0:02:280:02:31

and temperatures back down to around 19 to 22 Celsius.

0:02:310:02:33

So here's the end of the week. High pressure tantalisingly close,

0:02:330:02:36

bringing something a little bit more settled

0:02:360:02:38

to southern parts of the country,

0:02:380:02:40

but this area of low pressure starting to pull away from Scotland

0:02:400:02:43

and that means there'll still be further showers here,

0:02:430:02:45

some of those may filter their way further down

0:02:450:02:47

into parts of northern England and Wales,

0:02:470:02:50

but elsewhere, a mainly dry end to the week,

0:02:500:02:52

a fresher feel, some spells of sunshine,

0:02:520:02:54

and highs between 19 and 23 Celsius.

0:02:540:02:56

Now that sets us up for a bank holiday weekend

0:02:560:02:58

and it wouldn't be a bank holiday weekend

0:02:580:03:01

if there wasn't some uncertainty.

0:03:010:03:03

An area of high pressure close to south-west England

0:03:030:03:05

bringing something more settled here,

0:03:050:03:07

low pressure to the north, perhaps some outbreaks of rain here,

0:03:070:03:10

and this area of low pressure just complicating things a little bit.

0:03:100:03:13

So if you are having a bank holiday next weekend,

0:03:130:03:16

it looks like there will be some uncertainty for sure.

0:03:160:03:18

The wettest weather across more northern parts of the country

0:03:180:03:21

and probably dryest in the south.

0:03:210:03:23

We'll try and firm up on the details in the coming days. Bye-bye.
