Hello. At the end of this forecast we'll be looking into the early part

0:00:020:00:05

of September which, potentially, could be fairly settled,

0:00:050:00:07

unlike August which has been quite disappointing for some.

0:00:070:00:10

But at least the final weekend of the month

0:00:100:00:11

has delivered some warmth and some sunshine.

0:00:110:00:13

More of the same tomorrow, especially across

0:00:130:00:15

England, Wales and Northern Ireland thanks to this

0:00:150:00:17

area of high pressure. But to the northwest of Scotland

0:00:170:00:20

this frontal system will bring a different sort of day,

0:00:200:00:22

increasing the cloud, strengthening the wind and eventually

0:00:220:00:25

bringing some outbreaks of rain. But away from here

0:00:250:00:27

a dry day, good spells of sunshine, a much improved air across

0:00:270:00:31

Northern Ireland and much of Scotland.

0:00:310:00:33

Plenty of sunshine to be found, just some infill of cloud.

0:00:330:00:35

That will help temperatures widely to between 21 and 25 Celsius,

0:00:350:00:39

a fresher feel to the far northwest of Scotland.

0:00:390:00:42

Through much of this week we've seen a number of showers

0:00:420:00:44

which means we've also seen a number of rainbows.

0:00:440:00:46

Very different next week in that there should be a bit more sunshine

0:00:460:00:49

but it won't be plain sailing, not least because we could well

0:00:490:00:53

see some very strong winds to the north of the country.

0:00:530:00:56

Always warmest further south but not necessarily always dry.

0:00:560:00:59

I'll come to that in a minute.

0:00:590:01:01

Sunday night into Monday sees our band of rain still affecting

0:01:010:01:05

parts of Scotland, strengthening winds here, eventually

0:01:050:01:07

some of that rain approaching Northern Ireland.

0:01:070:01:10

Otherwise, a dry night, a mild night

0:01:100:01:13

with lows of 14-16 Celsius.

0:01:130:01:15

Away from Scotland it's a bank holiday on Monday.

0:01:150:01:18

Could well turn fairly unsettled across Northern Ireland

0:01:180:01:21

as the winds strengthen and outbreaks of rain push in here,

0:01:210:01:24

and wet and windy weather still affecting many parts of Scotland.

0:01:240:01:27

But away from the northwest of the UK, bank holiday Monday

0:01:270:01:31

looks to be dry, settled, some good spells of sunshine,

0:01:310:01:34

particularly across central, southern and eastern parts

0:01:340:01:37

of England and that could help temperatures up to 27,

0:01:370:01:40

maybe 28 Celsius.

0:01:400:01:42

As we go through Monday night and into Tuesday,

0:01:420:01:45

our cold front starts to slip its way south.

0:01:450:01:47

It's a weakening feature so by Tuesday morning

0:01:470:01:50

all that's left is a band of cloud

0:01:500:01:52

and maybe the odd spot of rain.

0:01:520:01:54

But still some showers for Northern Ireland and Scotland

0:01:540:01:57

and still some strengthening winds here and some fresher

0:01:570:02:00

conditions starting to creep in to western and northwestern

0:02:000:02:04

parts of England, temperatures back down to around 16-19 Celsius

0:02:040:02:08

but still hanging on to that warmth and humidity in the southeast,

0:02:080:02:11

with highs of 24.

0:02:110:02:12

As that cold front lingers across southeastern areas,

0:02:120:02:15

Tuesday into Wednesday, it could just pep up the rainfall

0:02:150:02:19

a little bit through Wednesday morning.

0:02:190:02:21

An area of low pressure to the south,

0:02:210:02:24

Atlantic system to the west,

0:02:240:02:25

which means there will be some rain around on Wednesday.

0:02:250:02:28

Detail a bit tricky at the moment, potentially the more

0:02:280:02:30

unsettled day of the week, still quite warm and humid

0:02:300:02:33

in the southeast, fresher further north and west.

0:02:330:02:36

And that rain is still lingering across southeast England

0:02:360:02:38

on Thursday. With that humidity it has the potential to be

0:02:380:02:42

thundery, further showers for Northern Ireland and Scotland,

0:02:420:02:45

in-between a slice of drier weather. And then we look to

0:02:450:02:48

the southwest and this area of low pressure.

0:02:480:02:51

Where will it go for the end of the week and into the weekend?

0:02:510:02:55

Much depends on this area of high pressure and its exact position.

0:02:550:02:59

It looks like for next weekend it should be centred over

0:02:590:03:02

much of the country, but that low pressure pushing up towards

0:03:020:03:05

the northwest of Scotland again could bring something wetter here.

0:03:050:03:08

Meanwhile, to the south and east, we're drawing up some warm and humid

0:03:080:03:12

air, so we're likely to continue to keep that warmth into next weekend

0:03:120:03:16

and early September. Which, as I mentioned, should be largely settled

0:03:160:03:20

but still some rain in the north and still quite warm in the south.
