Hello. We've just had the highest temperature of the week.

0:00:020:00:04

The heat was much more concentrated on Tuesday

0:00:040:00:07

into the south-east corner of England.

0:00:070:00:09

We had a temperature of 29 degrees in Kent.

0:00:090:00:11

You can see the blue skies we had earlier on Tuesday in Kent.

0:00:110:00:15

Contrast that with more cloud that was spilling down into Lincolnshire

0:00:150:00:19

where we saw the highest temperatures on Monday.

0:00:190:00:21

And as we move into Wednesday,

0:00:210:00:23

we'll find the cloud thickening

0:00:230:00:25

and two sets of weather fronts,

0:00:250:00:27

areas of low pressure,

0:00:270:00:28

converging upon England and Wales.

0:00:280:00:30

So a very different day on the way

0:00:300:00:32

for some southern and eastern parts of England,

0:00:320:00:34

with some rain that could be heavy at times.

0:00:340:00:36

The rain should clear away

0:00:360:00:38

from Wales and the south-west,

0:00:380:00:39

a few showers and some sunshine further north.

0:00:390:00:42

A lot of showers to come,

0:00:420:00:43

slow moving and heavy ones across Northern Ireland.

0:00:430:00:45

Temperatures typically 16 or 17 degrees

0:00:450:00:47

and that goes for East Anglia and the south-east

0:00:470:00:49

where it will be raining all day.

0:00:490:00:51

So a significant drop in temperature here.

0:00:510:00:53

A pretty miserable day on the way.

0:00:530:00:55

A far cry from the heat we've seen recently.

0:00:550:00:58

That rain pushes away out

0:00:580:00:59

into the southern North Sea eventually overnight.

0:00:590:01:02

Clearer skies will follow

0:01:020:01:03

and it'll turn chilly in the countryside.

0:01:030:01:05

We're down to 7 or 8 degrees quite easily.

0:01:050:01:08

The very warm air is really now

0:01:080:01:10

across the near continent on Thursday

0:01:100:01:12

and that low pressure is taking the downpours away.

0:01:120:01:15

But this little weather front here

0:01:150:01:17

moving very slowly in the slack winds

0:01:170:01:19

is going to focus some showers.

0:01:190:01:21

But they'll be hit and miss,

0:01:210:01:23

everything quite slow moving,

0:01:230:01:24

but if you catch a shower,

0:01:240:01:26

particularly across Wales and western England,

0:01:260:01:28

those showers could be heavy,

0:01:280:01:30

potentially thundery.

0:01:300:01:31

It should be a drier day

0:01:310:01:32

for East Anglia and the south-east.

0:01:320:01:34

It should feel a bit warmer as well.

0:01:340:01:36

But it's not likely to stay dry

0:01:360:01:38

overnight and into Friday

0:01:380:01:40

because that little weather front

0:01:400:01:42

focusing those showers and the low pressure

0:01:420:01:44

drifts down towards the south-east,

0:01:440:01:46

higher pressure building in

0:01:460:01:47

towards the north-west.

0:01:470:01:49

So, for much of Scotland,

0:01:490:01:50

Northern Ireland, northern England and Wales,

0:01:500:01:52

it'll be dry, very few showers.

0:01:520:01:54

Southern England, the Midlands,

0:01:540:01:56

across to East Anglia, more likely

0:01:560:01:57

to catch the showers to end the week.

0:01:570:01:59

Temperatures perhaps 20 degrees at best.

0:01:590:02:02

17 to 20 is really quite normal

0:02:020:02:04

for this time of the year.

0:02:040:02:05

Those showers eventually push away

0:02:050:02:07

as this ridge of high pressure builds in

0:02:070:02:10

at the start of the weekend.

0:02:100:02:11

It looks like a promising day on Saturday.

0:02:110:02:14

There won't be much of a breeze

0:02:140:02:15

away from the far north

0:02:150:02:17

and north-west of Scotland.

0:02:170:02:18

So in the sunshine it should feel

0:02:180:02:20

quite warm for the time of year.

0:02:200:02:22

The winds will be lighter

0:02:220:02:24

and it should be a dry day

0:02:240:02:25

with some sunny spells.

0:02:250:02:27

Perhaps staying fine with some sunshine

0:02:270:02:29

across much of England on Sunday.

0:02:290:02:31

Further north and west,

0:02:310:02:32

some rain beginning to arrive,

0:02:320:02:34

slowly but surely.

0:02:340:02:36

The winds picking up as well.

0:02:360:02:38

But it's a southerly wind,

0:02:380:02:39

so anything coming in from the Atlantic

0:02:390:02:41

is going to take some time.

0:02:410:02:43

We need to get more of a westerly wind

0:02:430:02:44

to push everything along.

0:02:440:02:46

But you get the idea

0:02:460:02:47

that there's bands of cloud and rain

0:02:470:02:49

waiting in the Atlantic,

0:02:490:02:50

higher pressure towards the east of the UK.

0:02:500:02:52

Into next week, there's a chance

0:02:520:02:54

we could get warmer air into the south-east,

0:02:540:02:57

a risk of some thunder.

0:02:570:02:58

But that's a lower probability.

0:02:580:03:00

What's more likely to happen is

0:03:000:03:02

that these westerly winds from the Atlantic

0:03:020:03:04

will win out eventually

0:03:040:03:06

and erratically, steadily,

0:03:060:03:08

we'll see bands of rain

0:03:080:03:09

pushing eastwards across the UK.

0:03:090:03:11

So a change to something more unsettled into next week.

0:03:110:03:15

Rain or showers, the winds picking up,

0:03:150:03:17

gales likely in the north,

0:03:170:03:19

but with that we'll find

0:03:190:03:20

warmer nights on the way.

0:03:200:03:22

And it's going to be that bit drier

0:03:220:03:24

and probably a bit warmer in the south-east.

0:03:240:03:26

That's it from me. Bye for now.
