It's going to be turning colder this weekend.

0:00:020:00:04

There are some frosty nights on the way, just for a while.

0:00:040:00:06

But before then we've got rain developing

0:00:060:00:09

and it's a two-pronged attack.

0:00:090:00:11

One weather front moving down

0:00:110:00:12

from the north-west

0:00:120:00:13

and these weather systems pushing rain up

0:00:130:00:16

from France across the Channel

0:00:160:00:18

into England and Wales.

0:00:180:00:19

Colder air comes round behind that rain

0:00:190:00:21

on that north-westerly wind,

0:00:210:00:23

which will freshen through the day.

0:00:230:00:24

But some welcome rain on Saturday perhaps,

0:00:240:00:26

given how dry it's been across eastern England.

0:00:260:00:29

That rain eventually clearing away

0:00:290:00:30

through the afternoon.

0:00:300:00:32

Elsewhere, sunshine breaking out

0:00:320:00:33

across England and Wales.

0:00:330:00:34

Showers near some of these western coasts.

0:00:340:00:36

The bulk of the showers

0:00:360:00:37

for Northern Ireland and western Scotland.

0:00:370:00:39

There could be snow over the Highlands

0:00:390:00:41

as the air gets colder through the day.

0:00:410:00:43

And as we head into the evening,

0:00:430:00:45

for those bonfires, we've got showers

0:00:450:00:47

out towards the western side of the UK.

0:00:470:00:49

Further east, it's likely to remain dry

0:00:490:00:51

and clear pretty much through the night.

0:00:510:00:54

It will turn cold as well.

0:00:540:00:55

These are the numbers in towns and cities.

0:00:550:00:58

So you can knock a few degrees

0:00:580:00:59

off those numbers for rural areas.

0:00:590:01:01

Chilly start to the second half of the weekend.

0:01:010:01:03

Remember, things are getting a bit colder,

0:01:030:01:05

the north-westerly airflow coming around

0:01:050:01:07

the top of that high pressure.

0:01:070:01:09

So we'll keep the showers going

0:01:090:01:11

particularly early on

0:01:110:01:12

across many western parts of the UK.

0:01:120:01:14

Some will feed across Wales, to the Midlands,

0:01:140:01:16

to the south-east around the middle part of the day.

0:01:160:01:18

Then the showers become fewer later on.

0:01:180:01:20

So more sunshine around, fewer showers.

0:01:200:01:22

North-westerly winds though,

0:01:220:01:24

it's going to be chilly out there,

0:01:240:01:26

Temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.

0:01:260:01:28

Now, for Bonfire Night itself,

0:01:280:01:30

it looks like it should be generally dry.

0:01:300:01:32

Those showers continuing to fade away, but it will be cold.

0:01:320:01:36

By the time we get to the end of the night,

0:01:360:01:38

early on Monday it could be frosty out there

0:01:380:01:41

widely, I think, in rural areas.

0:01:410:01:43

But we've got some changes coming in

0:01:430:01:45

during the day on Monday.

0:01:450:01:47

The cold air is underneath

0:01:470:01:49

that ridge of high pressure.

0:01:490:01:51

But coming into the north-west

0:01:510:01:52

rather slowly on Monday,

0:01:520:01:53

we've got those weather systems.

0:01:530:01:55

They'll bring rain

0:01:550:01:56

and the rain will more likely develop

0:01:560:01:59

through the day across western Scotland

0:01:590:02:01

and into Northern Ireland.

0:02:010:02:02

Ahead of it, the winds really picking up

0:02:020:02:04

through these Irish Sea coasts,

0:02:040:02:06

and further south and east across the UK,

0:02:060:02:08

it may well be dry.

0:02:080:02:09

There'll be some sunshine too.

0:02:090:02:11

Winds continue to strengthen

0:02:110:02:12

during the evening and overnight.

0:02:120:02:14

That weather front, a low pressure on it,

0:02:140:02:16

delays the progress of this rain.

0:02:160:02:18

It's something we've been talking about

0:02:180:02:20

over the past few days.

0:02:200:02:21

How quickly is this rain

0:02:210:02:23

going to move eastwards?

0:02:230:02:24

Still some uncertainty.

0:02:240:02:25

Eastern England dry for most of Tuesday.

0:02:250:02:27

The rain initially heavy out to the west,

0:02:270:02:29

as it pushes eastwards,

0:02:290:02:30

should become a little bit lighter.

0:02:300:02:32

And then it should clear away on Tuesday.

0:02:320:02:35

But coming in across

0:02:350:02:36

northern parts of the Atlantic,

0:02:360:02:38

winds coming in from the west

0:02:380:02:39

and some more weather systems

0:02:390:02:41

grazing the north-west of the UK.

0:02:410:02:43

So, the remaining cloud

0:02:430:02:44

and a few spots of rain

0:02:440:02:46

across eastern England clearing away.

0:02:460:02:48

Sunny spells developing widely.

0:02:480:02:49

The wind picking up in the far north-west

0:02:490:02:52

and another band of rain.

0:02:520:02:53

This rain not quite as heavy on Wednesday,

0:02:530:02:55

nor indeed on Wednesday night.

0:02:550:02:57

That band of rain should push

0:02:570:02:58

across the whole of the country.

0:02:580:02:59

Put the jet stream on there.

0:02:590:03:01

It's quite a strong jet

0:03:010:03:02

that will be picking up later on next week.

0:03:020:03:04

And whilst it's pretty much

0:03:040:03:06

right over the UK on Thursday

0:03:060:03:08

and it may steer some rain our way

0:03:080:03:10

on Thursday, perhaps into Friday,

0:03:100:03:12

as the jet stream moves northwards next weekend,

0:03:120:03:15

we should see wetter, windier weather

0:03:150:03:17

more towards the north-west of the UK,

0:03:170:03:19

whereas further south-east,

0:03:190:03:20

with pressure higher,

0:03:200:03:22

the winds lighter, it'll be drier.

0:03:220:03:23

There'll be some sunshine, but once again, the nights will be chilly.

0:03:230:03:27

Goodbye.
