Today we continue our Blue Peter badge baton relay.

0:00:040:00:07

And it's all about this guy - the Blue Peter Sport Badge.

0:00:070:00:11

We're getting sporty

0:00:110:00:12

and we're hoping to inspire you to do the same. Catch!

0:00:120:00:15

CLUCKING Where did this come from?

0:00:150:00:18

CHEERING

0:00:340:00:35

ALL: Hello!

0:00:350:00:37

-Hi.

-Welcome to Blue Peter.

-Hello.

0:00:370:00:39

It is now official, there is just one sleep left

0:00:390:00:43

until the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics 2016,

0:00:430:00:47

-and are we excited?

-Yes, we are!

-CHEERING

0:00:470:00:49

Of course we are!

0:00:490:00:51

We know that Team GB are going to do us so proud,

0:00:510:00:53

so a massive good luck to everybody out in Rio.

0:00:530:00:55

-We're jealous, aren't we?

-We are very jealous. I want to be there.

0:00:550:00:58

So while you're watching the action unfold over the next few weeks,

0:00:580:01:01

keep your eyes peeled for this bad boy.

0:01:010:01:03

-That is the BP Sport Badge 2016.

-Ooh!

0:01:030:01:04

Brand-new, people.

0:01:040:01:06

And we have given this to every member of Team GB,

0:01:060:01:08

so keep an eye out for it.

0:01:080:01:09

Competition winner Sam and myself get to go to kitting out

0:01:090:01:13

which is where all the athletes get their official Olympics Team GB kit

0:01:130:01:17

and we'll give you an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour.

0:01:170:01:20

We're keeping it with the Olympics theme as well cos Radzi and I

0:01:200:01:23

are heading to the velodrome for one of those epic challenges.

0:01:230:01:25

Speaking of epic challenges,

0:01:250:01:27

Radzi and I go head-to-head up a mountain, surfing.

0:01:270:01:29

Sounds weird, but it happened.

0:01:290:01:31

The rain, I think, has now officially started!

0:01:310:01:34

But it's worth pointing out actually that the Sports Badge

0:01:340:01:37

isn't just for Team GB athletes or Blue Peter presenters,

0:01:370:01:39

it's for all of you at home to grab one this summer,

0:01:390:01:42

perfect for your badge baton.

0:01:420:01:43

All the details about that are on the Blue Peter website,

0:01:430:01:46

with a cheeky, handy guide.

0:01:460:01:49

I think it's pretty safe to say

0:01:490:01:50

that we love trying a new sport and actually the one behind us here

0:01:500:01:53

is something that I want to get my hands on!

0:01:530:01:55

Well, actually, it's the one thing you can't do.

0:01:550:01:57

-You can't get your hands on anything.

-Ha-ha!

0:01:570:01:59

Because this is a different game. You can use your feet,

0:01:590:02:01

you can use your shoulders, your chest, your knees,

0:02:010:02:03

-anything but your hands.

-Love it!

-Ladies and gentlemen,

0:02:030:02:06

-boys and girls, this is footvolley.

-Whoa, it looks so much fun!

0:02:060:02:10

And who better to talk us through it and show us the ropes

0:02:100:02:12

then England's number one, David Donkin. Come on over, David.

0:02:120:02:15

-Once you've done that header! Nicely done.

-Hi, guys.

0:02:150:02:18

-Nice to meet you, David.

-Nice to see you guys.

0:02:180:02:19

-Thank you for coming on the show.

-Thanks for having us.

0:02:190:02:22

Can you talk us through - what exactly is footvolley?

0:02:220:02:24

-It looks like a lot of fun.

-It's great, we love it.

0:02:240:02:26

It's a combination of football and volleyball.

0:02:260:02:28

So you have three touches on each side but, like in football,

0:02:280:02:32

you can't use your arms or your hands.

0:02:320:02:34

So it's every other part of your body - chest, feet, head.

0:02:340:02:36

So are we going to see you performing in Rio?

0:02:360:02:38

We are invited to a competition during the Olympics,

0:02:380:02:40

but unfortunately it's not yet an Olympic sport.

0:02:400:02:43

But when we're there, lots of countries will be there,

0:02:430:02:46

to show basically everyone what footvolley is

0:02:460:02:49

and the skills that are involved. It should be a great opportunity.

0:02:490:02:52

It is hosted by an old footballer called Romario.

0:02:520:02:54

-Absolute legend.

-Yeah, so it's really cool,

0:02:540:02:57

hopefully get an opportunity to go there.

0:02:570:02:58

-Amazing.

-I'd prefer to play it in Rio.

0:02:580:03:00

-Bit warmer there, isn't it?

-A nice beach, in the sun.

0:03:000:03:02

So normally you do play on sand with bare feet.

0:03:020:03:04

But today, we're just on a slightly smaller court, on grass.

0:03:040:03:07

Which you can do, you can play on grass, hard court, anywhere, really.

0:03:070:03:10

-Can you show us the ropes?

-Sure. Yeah, let's go.

0:03:100:03:12

We'll do some tryouts. So, to start with,

0:03:120:03:15

Matt here will demonstrate a few skills.

0:03:150:03:17

Two skills we're going to do is the header and the knee.

0:03:170:03:19

-OK?

-Absolutely.

-So if we just come over here.

0:03:190:03:21

-Did he mention the word "skills", then? He did, didn't he?

-Yeah!

0:03:210:03:24

-So Matt here is going to do an attacking header.

-OK.

0:03:240:03:26

So just head it over the net.

0:03:260:03:28

-Good, Matt!

-Wow! He's not messing around, is he?

0:03:280:03:31

-He's not, is he?

-So do you guys fancy having a go?

0:03:310:03:33

-Yes!

-Let's do it.

-OK.

0:03:330:03:34

-So, Lindsay, do you want to go first?

-Go on, then.

-Go on, Linds!

0:03:340:03:38

-So...

-Go on, Linds!

0:03:380:03:39

Oh, yes!

0:03:390:03:41

-That was good!

-I've got a foggy head now, but it's fine!

0:03:410:03:44

-That was very good.

-No pressure!

-Go on, Barn, go for it.

0:03:440:03:46

Cheers, Fred!

0:03:460:03:49

-Boom!

-Just like that!

0:03:490:03:52

-We're naturals!

-That is good. OK.

0:03:520:03:55

-Yes, Fred!

-All right, Radz.

-Go on, Radz.

-Here we go.

0:03:550:03:58

-Oh, yes!

-Very good.

-Top of the 'fro, that one was.

0:03:580:04:02

So the final skill we're going to do is the knee.

0:04:020:04:04

So Matt's going to demonstrate.

0:04:040:04:05

You can use this as a pass to your team-mate

0:04:050:04:07

or over the net like that.

0:04:070:04:09

-He makes it look really easy, doesn't he?

-Well, not always!

0:04:090:04:11

You've all got red patches on your right knee!

0:04:110:04:14

-All right, here we go.

-So, Lindsay, you're up again.

0:04:140:04:17

Go on, Linds.

0:04:170:04:19

-Oh! Good effort!

-Unlucky.

0:04:190:04:21

Under the net, does that count? Not really!

0:04:210:04:23

My favourite thing about that was the finish position.

0:04:230:04:25

It was like that, it was like superhero!

0:04:250:04:27

Go on, Barns, show me how it's done.

0:04:270:04:29

-OK, ready when you are, Fred.

-Go on, Barn!

0:04:290:04:31

-Oh!

-It's a good pass.

-The knee is hard, actually, isn't it?

0:04:310:04:35

-It is hard.

-Go on, Radz, you can do it.

0:04:350:04:37

If Radz can't do it, no-one can!

0:04:370:04:40

-Yes, Radzi!

-Great shot.

-You love that corner over there.

0:04:400:04:43

-Great shot.

-Fantastic. So that's just two of the skills.

0:04:430:04:45

I mean, we could do the feet and the chest, the other things,

0:04:450:04:48

-but I think that's good enough for now.

-OK.

-Brilliant.

0:04:480:04:50

-So now it comes to selection time.

-Oh, goodness.

0:04:500:04:52

-Right, for the game at the end of the show?

-Yeah.

0:04:520:04:55

So, yeah, you've all been brilliant.

0:04:550:04:57

I think we'll have to go...

0:04:570:04:59

-You've all been brilliant!

-..for Radzi and Barney.

0:04:590:05:02

-But you've been brilliant!

-Well done, Linds.

0:05:020:05:04

-That's fine! I don't mind.

-You can be the commentator.

-Yeah.

-OK.

0:05:040:05:07

-You're good at commentating.

-I've got a stinging knee anyway.

-Yeah.

0:05:070:05:10

I think it's safe to say we need all the help we can get,

0:05:100:05:13

which is actually a little bit

0:05:130:05:14

like the challenge Lindsay and I recently went on.

0:05:140:05:17

We went head-to-head, surfing up a mountain!

0:05:170:05:21

Check this out.

0:05:210:05:22

Catching the first wave of the day...

0:05:260:05:28

..breaking the surface of the water...

0:05:300:05:34

the freedom,

0:05:340:05:36

the ride.

0:05:360:05:38

Surfing. Some say it's in the soul.

0:05:400:05:44

-Linds...

-Radzi, shh,

0:05:440:05:46

I'm trying to make the start of the film look really cool.

0:05:460:05:49

But aren't we missing something?

0:05:490:05:51

-What do you mean?

-A beach!

0:05:510:05:54

Ah.

0:05:540:05:56

Yeah, fair point, Radz.

0:05:560:05:58

When you think of surfing,

0:05:580:05:59

you'd probably imagine sandy beaches and the sea.

0:05:590:06:02

Not a lake in the Welsh countryside.

0:06:020:06:04

This is Surf Snowdonia

0:06:050:06:08

and it attracts some of the best surfers in the world,

0:06:080:06:11

like four times Welsh champion, Jo Dennison.

0:06:110:06:15

I'm pumped to be here, we can see how big those waves are.

0:06:150:06:19

But we're not at a beach.

0:06:190:06:20

How on earth does this work?

0:06:200:06:22

And we've got a tub for you to help explain it to us.

0:06:220:06:24

It's really simple. Basically, there's big snowplough

0:06:240:06:27

that goes down the pier and that creates the waves.

0:06:270:06:30

Just like this.

0:06:300:06:31

The snowplough goes through the water,

0:06:310:06:33

which pushes the water out of the way and you get really fun waves.

0:06:330:06:37

Oh, right, so it's actually creating a wave each side of the plough,

0:06:370:06:40

-isn't it?

-Exactly.

-And you can surf on them.

0:06:400:06:42

Well, you made it look so easy,

0:06:420:06:43

I don't think we're going to look quite like that, are we?

0:06:430:06:45

I've actually done a lot of surfing myself, on the internet.

0:06:450:06:49

Unlike in the sea,

0:06:510:06:52

the snowplough creates a two-metre wave every 90 seconds.

0:06:520:06:56

Jo's going to give us a surfing masterclass,

0:06:580:07:01

but we need to start on dry land.

0:07:010:07:03

OK, so this is the front,

0:07:030:07:05

this is the tail,

0:07:050:07:07

the top, where we're going to be standing on,

0:07:070:07:09

and we've got our fins and they help you with steering

0:07:090:07:11

when you're on a wave.

0:07:110:07:13

'But before we even think about steering,

0:07:130:07:15

'we need to master standing up.'

0:07:150:07:17

OK, when you're lying on your board,

0:07:170:07:19

you want to keep nice and streamlined,

0:07:190:07:21

so keep your toes together. So you can see the wave coming,

0:07:210:07:24

so if you just look over your shoulder

0:07:240:07:26

-and you're going to start to paddle.

-Linds, paddle, quick!

0:07:260:07:30

OK, right. So I'm going to go one, two,

0:07:300:07:33

and you're surfing.

0:07:330:07:35

-OK.

-OK?

0:07:350:07:38

-OK, right.

-I'm surfing!

0:07:380:07:40

-Linds, you're off!

-Time to get in the water?

0:07:400:07:43

-Yes!

-Sounds good!

-Linds, are you up for getting in the water?

0:07:430:07:47

'Never again... No more water...'

0:07:480:07:51

-Linds, Linds.

-Sorry. Yeah?

-Linds.

-Sorry.

-Shall we go?

0:07:520:07:56

-Yeah.

-Yeah, let's go.

-I love a water-based challenge.

-Yeah.

0:07:560:08:00

'First up, Jo wants us to get used to catching the waves.'

0:08:030:08:07

'We need to lie down and paddle as hard as we can, with our arms.'

0:08:070:08:12

Whoo!

0:08:120:08:14

'And when you get it right, it's so much fun!'

0:08:140:08:18

'Now we've got a feel for the waves, it's time to try and stand up.'

0:08:240:08:28

LINDSAY SCREAMS

0:08:280:08:31

'This is so much harder than it looks

0:08:310:08:33

'and Jo hasn't finished with us yet.'

0:08:330:08:36

OK, so we've got time for one more surf session.

0:08:380:08:40

-OK.

-We're going to do a challenge.

-Yes!

0:08:400:08:42

Whoever stands up for the longest on a wave

0:08:420:08:45

will be crowned Blue Peter surfing superstar.

0:08:450:08:48

-Oh!

-Wow.

0:08:480:08:50

'So it's the best of three waves.

0:08:500:08:53

'Who can stay up the longest?

0:08:530:08:55

'And I'm first. Here we go!

0:08:550:08:57

'Ah, that didn't go quite to plan.'

0:08:580:09:01

'Unlucky, Linds. My turn now.

0:09:010:09:03

'No, got the timing all wrong.'

0:09:050:09:08

'OK, here we go. Round two.

0:09:080:09:10

'I manage to catch the wave...

0:09:100:09:12

'..but again, I just can't stand up.'

0:09:140:09:18

'Let's see if I can do better.

0:09:180:09:20

'Up! I'm actually up!

0:09:200:09:22

'That must count, surely!'

0:09:220:09:24

'OK, time for my final go.

0:09:250:09:27

'I can't let Radzi win.

0:09:270:09:29

'Oh, nearly!

0:09:300:09:31

'Oh, no!'

0:09:330:09:35

'Come on, Radzi, one last chance to get this right.

0:09:350:09:38

'This is the one!

0:09:380:09:40

'I'm surfing! I'm actually surfing!

0:09:420:09:46

'I'm up! I'm balancing!

0:09:460:09:48

'I think... I've done it!'

0:09:480:09:49

I just surfed the line properly!

0:09:510:09:54

HE LAUGHS

0:09:540:09:55

Mwah!

0:09:550:09:57

I loved it. I absolutely loved it.

0:09:570:10:00

And when you get it, you feel on top of the world.

0:10:000:10:02

Well, Radz, here you go.

0:10:020:10:05

I think you won this fair and square today.

0:10:050:10:07

-Ah, look at that!

-Well done.

0:10:070:10:09

Now, get in the water and go and ride it in.

0:10:090:10:12

-Let's go!

-No, don't, don't!

-No, I won't, I'll hurt myself!

0:10:120:10:16

-Mum, I surfed a wave!

-You looked so pro, Radz.

0:10:190:10:22

-You were awesome on those waves.

-I was...not.

-You were OK.

0:10:220:10:25

-I was not.

-No, you were good. Well done for trying.

-Thanks.

0:10:250:10:27

All you've got to do now, Radz, is introduce a friend

0:10:270:10:29

to the sport, take a picture, fill in the application form

0:10:290:10:32

and you get a BP Sport Badge. Lots of you know about this

0:10:320:10:34

and that's why you're here, displayed in all of your glory

0:10:340:10:37

-on our BP Big Bash wall.

-I love when we have pictures!

-Look at these.

0:10:370:10:39

We've never had upside-down ones before, a new thing.

0:10:390:10:42

Tabitha and Lottie have been getting involved in gymnastics.

0:10:420:10:44

It was Tabitha's idea to involve Lottie

0:10:440:10:46

and teach her how to do the crab.

0:10:460:10:48

Apparently Lottie fell over a bit while she was practising.

0:10:480:10:50

-That's how you learn.

-Absolutely.

0:10:500:10:52

I'm delighted to announce that Lottie is now starting

0:10:520:10:54

gymnastics class with Tabitha.

0:10:540:10:55

-Yes!

-So, well done, that's what it's all about.

0:10:550:10:58

And to say well done, Barney's now going to do a crab.

0:10:580:11:00

That's not going to happen!

0:11:000:11:02

I love this. It's been sent in by Megan.

0:11:020:11:04

Check her out right there, in the coolest leggings ever, by the way.

0:11:040:11:07

She inspired her friend Imogen to take up wheelchair basketball

0:11:070:11:10

and their favourite bit was when their mum here scored three points.

0:11:100:11:13

So it was a draw. Well done, guys, you've got a BP Sport Badge.

0:11:130:11:17

You will struggle to find two happier people

0:11:170:11:20

than the BMX brothers just here.

0:11:200:11:22

Logan inspired his brother Ashley to try BMX riding,

0:11:220:11:25

and they clearly had an absolute whale of a time.

0:11:250:11:28

-Boys, well done indeed.

-Yeah.

-But before you go on that adventure,

0:11:520:11:55

please grab a grown-up and check the details online first.

0:11:550:11:58

Also, the coolest thing about the BP Sport Badge 2016

0:11:580:12:00

is that if you get one, you could actually end up

0:12:000:12:03

on the judging panel for BBC's Young Sports Personality of the Year.

0:12:030:12:07

We've both done it and it is so fun. So get applying now.

0:12:070:12:11

So, if that hasn't inspired you, maybe this will.

0:12:110:12:14

Bonita, it's all yours.

0:12:140:12:15

Hello, my name is Bonita and to earn my Blue Peter Sports Badge,

0:12:160:12:20

I inspired my friend Hermione to take up basketball.

0:12:200:12:23

Since earning my badge,

0:12:240:12:26

I've been playing more at the park with my dad when it's sunny.

0:12:260:12:30

You should inspire a friend to earn the Blue Peter Sports Badge

0:12:300:12:33

cos once you have it, you'll feel really proud

0:12:330:12:35

and you can also inspire other people to get the badge too.

0:12:350:12:38

That's how I earned my Blue Peter Sports Badge.

0:12:380:12:41

Hi, my name's Oscar and I got my Blue Peter Sports Badge

0:12:410:12:45

because I inspired my brother Felix to take up skateboarding.

0:12:450:12:50

My skateboarding hero is Tony Hawk

0:12:500:12:53

because he just makes me feel I can do anything in skateboarding.

0:12:530:12:56

I love skateboarding because I have talipes,

0:12:580:13:00

that means I'm always on my tiptoes.

0:13:000:13:03

Skateboarding is just really fun and also it's a sport that I can do.

0:13:030:13:09

And that's how I earned my Blue Peter Sports Badge.

0:13:090:13:14

Hello, my name is Ella and to earn my Blue Peter Sports Badge

0:13:140:13:18

I inspired my friend Lucy to take up synchronised swimming.

0:13:180:13:23

I love synchronised swimming because it's really fun

0:13:230:13:26

and there's always something new to learn.

0:13:260:13:29

When I took Lucy to synchro, I cracked my goggles!

0:13:290:13:34

That's how I earned my Blue Peter Sport Badge.

0:13:340:13:37

Hello, my name is Poppy and to earn my Blue Peter Sports Badge

0:13:380:13:43

I inspired my friend Molly to take up climbing.

0:13:430:13:46

My inspiration was the people around me

0:13:460:13:50

because when I walked into my local climbing centre,

0:13:500:13:53

I thought it was really fun and I wanted a go.

0:13:530:13:57

Since earning my Sports Badge,

0:13:570:13:59

I did a sponsored climb for Sport Relief and raised £190.

0:13:590:14:04

So, go on, get active and you could earn yourself

0:14:060:14:08

a 2016 Blue Peter Sport Badge.

0:14:080:14:11

Thanks, guys, that was a cracking job.

0:14:130:14:15

Now, here on Blue Peter we're very lucky.

0:14:150:14:17

We get to try out all sorts of different sports.

0:14:170:14:19

But this year, one in particular really stood out for me.

0:14:190:14:21

Imagine the scene, huge Olympic velodrome,

0:14:210:14:25

thousands of people chanting mine and Radzi's name,

0:14:250:14:28

top advice from one of the best athletes in the world

0:14:280:14:31

and I got to ride thi...

0:14:310:14:33

Oh, really?

0:14:330:14:36

Is that the best we can...? OK, fine. I can make it work.

0:14:360:14:39

Yeah, I got to ride this!

0:14:390:14:41

Yeah. Here we go.

0:14:410:14:43

'We've been training hard for a very special challenge.'

0:14:470:14:50

-That is so tiring.

-That's probably the hardest thing I've done yet.

0:14:500:14:54

'It's a WHEELY tough challenge we were set

0:14:540:14:57

'by cycling legend, Sir Chris Hoy.'

0:14:570:14:59

Hi, Barney and Radzi. Your Sport Relief challenge

0:14:590:15:02

is going to push your cycling abilities to the limit.

0:15:020:15:05

We're taking on a mini-omnium.

0:15:050:15:06

Basically, it's the best of three different track races,

0:15:060:15:09

the flying lap,

0:15:090:15:10

the match sprint and the kilo.

0:15:100:15:13

And after three months of training, it's finally race day.

0:15:130:15:17

We'll be competing in front of 3,500 people

0:15:170:15:21

and some of the world's best cyclists. No pressure, then(!)

0:15:210:15:25

'To help settle our nerves our coach, Charlie...'

0:15:250:15:28

Morning, lads.

0:15:280:15:29

'..has a surprise in store.'

0:15:290:15:31

-Wow, look at that.

-Look at those!

0:15:310:15:33

'Our very own Blue Peter cycling outfits.'

0:15:330:15:36

'Now we look the part, there's only one thing for it -

0:15:370:15:40

'let's race.

0:15:400:15:41

'First up, the flying lap.

0:15:430:15:46

'We will take it in turns to try and set the fastest time

0:15:460:15:48

'on one lap around the track.

0:15:480:15:50

'And I'm up first.'

0:15:510:15:53

Go on, Barn.

0:15:540:15:55

'Now all I need to do is remember my training,

0:15:550:15:58

'get to the top of the track, build up speed

0:15:580:16:00

'and wait for the bell before dropping down

0:16:000:16:02

'and going for it on my final lap.'

0:16:020:16:04

Barney, up, up, up!

0:16:040:16:06

Up, up, up! No, no, no, height! Oh.

0:16:060:16:09

'I'm not sure why Charlie is shouting at me.'

0:16:090:16:13

He timed it wrong.

0:16:160:16:17

'But when I hear the bell, I realise my mistake.

0:16:170:16:20

'I've dropped down a lap too early.'

0:16:200:16:23

Come on, Barney! Come on!

0:16:230:16:26

'I try to sprint for two laps instead of one

0:16:270:16:29

'but my legs are in agony. I can't believe it.

0:16:290:16:32

'The one event I've always been strongest at

0:16:320:16:35

'and I've thrown it away. I am gutted.'

0:16:350:16:37

Is that it?

0:16:370:16:38

'Unlucky, Barney.

0:16:400:16:42

'Now it's my turn.'

0:16:420:16:43

'I keep as high as I can and when it matters

0:16:460:16:48

-'I drop down on the bell...'

-BELL RINGS

0:16:480:16:50

'..just as my last lap starts.

0:16:500:16:52

'But I go a bit wide on the corner

0:16:560:16:58

'and it's slowing me down.'

0:16:580:16:59

Hold your line! Hold your line!

0:16:590:17:02

'My legs are burning but I keep on pedalling.

0:17:020:17:05

'Come on, Radzi. This is the last bend.

0:17:050:17:07

'I have to go for it now.

0:17:070:17:09

'Oh, I've done it. Beating Barney by three seconds.

0:17:120:17:16

'That's one to me.'

0:17:160:17:18

I just gave that everything.

0:17:180:17:20

Absolutely everything.

0:17:200:17:22

Next, the match sprint.

0:17:230:17:25

A tactical race with both riders going head-to-head on track

0:17:250:17:28

and sprinting flat out for the finish.

0:17:280:17:32

And before we hit the track, our training partners, Josh and Tilly,

0:17:320:17:35

arrive to offer us some advice.

0:17:350:17:38

Josh, I'm in trouble, what can I do?

0:17:380:17:39

Make sure you can always see Radzi so you can anticipate his moves.

0:17:390:17:43

-OK, Tilly?

-I think you need to move around the track,

0:17:430:17:46

-confuse him a little bit.

-I can do that, I reckon.

0:17:460:17:48

It doesn't take a lot to confuse me. You know that, mate.

0:17:480:17:50

'Let battle commence.'

0:17:500:17:52

Go on, Barney. Go, Radzi!

0:17:520:17:54

'I decide to take the lead early and see what Radzi does.'

0:17:540:17:58

'Don't you worry, Barn. 'I'm close behind.'

0:17:580:18:00

I've got you, Radz.

0:18:000:18:02

'I'm trying to keep an eye on Radzi

0:18:020:18:03

'but it's hard looking over your shoulder.'

0:18:030:18:06

'I am hanging back for a surprise attack.'

0:18:060:18:08

'As the bell rings, I decide to go for it.'

0:18:110:18:15

'My only hope is to overtake him on the bend.

0:18:150:18:18

'But again, I go wide.

0:18:180:18:20

'I try to catch him but he's left me so much to do.'

0:18:230:18:26

'I have no idea where Radzi is any more.

0:18:270:18:29

'My head is down and I'm going for the line.

0:18:290:18:33

'And that makes it one-all.'

0:18:330:18:35

I tried so hard to come back at you then.

0:18:350:18:38

You were just absolutely pedal to the metal.

0:18:380:18:42

Once that bell went, I didn't know where you were.

0:18:420:18:45

So I took the flying lap, Barney took the sprint.

0:18:450:18:50

It all comes down to this.

0:18:500:18:52

Only one of us can win this.

0:18:520:18:55

This is the decider, the kilo.

0:18:550:18:59

Starting from opposite sides of the track,

0:18:590:19:01

we have just four laps to try and catch each other up.

0:19:010:19:04

First person across the finish line wins.

0:19:040:19:07

You know what you're doing.

0:19:070:19:09

I just want to see you give it all out on the track.

0:19:090:19:12

'And we're off.

0:19:140:19:15

'I get a better start and pedal as hard as I can.'

0:19:150:19:18

'It takes me a while to build up my speed.'

0:19:180:19:21

Come on!

0:19:210:19:22

'After the first lap, it's neck and neck.'

0:19:220:19:25

'And I've decided to go for it.'

0:19:250:19:27

Go, Radz!

0:19:270:19:28

'But will I last the whole race?'

0:19:280:19:31

'I'm still in this, I just have to keep on pushing.'

0:19:310:19:34

'I begin my last lap but my legs are really starting to tire.'

0:19:360:19:40

'Me too. I'm giving it everything and I have no idea where Radzi is.

0:19:400:19:43

'I can just see Barney. For the first time I know I'm catching him.

0:19:430:19:48

'I see the finish line and I realise I've done it.'

0:19:480:19:50

Thank you!

0:19:500:19:53

'I may have won but, more importantly,

0:19:530:19:55

'we've absolutely loved this challenge.'

0:19:550:19:59

Well, didn't that look like a nice, dry indoor challenge?

0:20:000:20:04

Unlike today's, but we're going to have fun regardless.

0:20:040:20:06

Now, earlier on Barney, Radzi and I, we kind of did a bit of a tryout...

0:20:060:20:09

-Yeah, you did really well.

-..for the England team.

0:20:090:20:12

You say I did well but I didn't quite make the cut, did I, today?

0:20:120:20:15

No. So it's going to be Barney and Radzi there

0:20:150:20:18

with the English footvolley team. We're going to do a bit of a match.

0:20:180:20:20

-Yeah.

-Before we do, Dave...

-Sure.

0:20:200:20:22

..could you just chat us through the rules again?

0:20:220:20:24

It's a mixture of football and volleyball.

0:20:240:20:26

So, like in football, you can't use your arms or your hands

0:20:260:20:29

-but you can use all the other parts of your body.

-OK.

0:20:290:20:31

And it's three touches each side of the net and then if

0:20:310:20:34

you land the ball in your opponent's area, you win the point.

0:20:340:20:36

-Fine.

-Normally you can play to 18

0:20:360:20:38

but I think today we're just doing a one-minute match.

0:20:380:20:40

A bit of a mini one-minute match. The boys are limbering up there.

0:20:400:20:43

They're trying not to pull any muscles today.

0:20:430:20:45

-Shall we start it?

-Go for it.

-Three, two, one.

0:20:450:20:47

-WHISTLE BLOWS

-Off you go, boys.

0:20:470:20:50

-There they go.

-They're off to a good start.

0:20:500:20:52

Nice little chest move... Oh.

0:20:520:20:54

Straight past Barney's legs there.

0:20:540:20:56

-Barney, you can use your legs...

-Thank you!

-..remember.

0:20:560:20:58

It's no hands. Here we go. Second go.

0:20:580:21:01

It's back over the net.

0:21:010:21:02

Radzi, oh! I think we've got to count...

0:21:020:21:05

-Is that in?

-Yeah, that was in. When it touches the line, it's in.

0:21:050:21:08

To anyone at home, Dave,

0:21:080:21:09

who thinks this looks great fun, which it is, actually.

0:21:090:21:12

It's kind of more fun in the rain, to be honest.

0:21:120:21:14

What can they do to have a go?

0:21:140:21:15

Sure, so, you can play on sand, on grass, on a hard court.

0:21:150:21:18

It's good to just get in there,

0:21:180:21:20

get some friends and try and play and have some fun, really.

0:21:200:21:23

A top tip as well...

0:21:230:21:26

-Radzi's diving all over the shop here.

-A top tip for beginners...

0:21:260:21:29

-Yeah.

-..sometimes when you start, just getting that rally going

0:21:290:21:32

to start with while you develop technique.

0:21:320:21:34

Yeah. It can take a bit of time so you can allow one bounce...

0:21:340:21:36

-OK.

-..just to develop that technique.

0:21:360:21:38

And we want all the kids at home, if you're enjoying it and want to play,

0:21:380:21:41

-speak to your PE teacher.

-Hello.

0:21:410:21:43

Whoa! Nearly took out the commentators.

0:21:430:21:45

Three, two, one.

0:21:450:21:46

-I think that might be game over.

-WHISTLE BLOWS

0:21:460:21:50

Stop, boys. It's over.

0:21:500:21:52

Come on over, Radzi.

0:21:520:21:54

Radzi's made up some nice moves during footvolley there.

0:21:540:21:57

It looked nice. Come on over. What was the final score?

0:21:570:22:00

-It was 11-6 to us.

-I think you might have made that up.

0:22:000:22:02

-Yeah, I did. I don't know what the score was.

-I think my afro won.

0:22:020:22:06

-That was fun.

-You're all looking a little bit drained.

0:22:060:22:08

-You did all right, actually. First time.

-Yeah.

0:22:080:22:10

Thank you so much for coming and showing us the footvolley ropes.

0:22:100:22:13

-You definitely earned your BP Sport Badge.

-Oh, yes.

0:22:130:22:16

I've got it on already.

0:22:160:22:18

Everybody loves their Blue Peter Sport Badge,

0:22:180:22:21

including members of Team GB and that's because if they qualified

0:22:210:22:24

for Rio, they got one of them themselves and I was there

0:22:240:22:27

for the kitting out.

0:22:270:22:28

Back in February, we launched a competition

0:22:300:22:33

to design the 2016 Blue Peter Sport Badge.

0:22:330:22:37

It's time to show you all about our brand-new Team GB competition.

0:22:380:22:42

Thousands of you applied but the judges had to pick just one design.

0:22:420:22:46

The winner is...

0:22:460:22:48

Sam from Stafford.

0:22:480:22:50

Sam, Sam, Sam. Straight up top, my friend.

0:22:500:22:52

'As well as his design becoming our badge,

0:22:520:22:56

'Sam also got to visit the Team GB kitting out session.

0:22:560:23:00

'This is where all the athletes collect everything they need

0:23:000:23:02

'for Rio, from rucksacks to running shoes.

0:23:020:23:06

'But before we go in, there's something I need to do.'

0:23:060:23:10

-So you've actually applied for the Sport Badge?

-Yes.

0:23:100:23:12

I actually know that you've applied for it. How do I know that?

0:23:120:23:15

Because I've got your form right here.

0:23:150:23:17

So let's open it up and see who you...

0:23:170:23:20

Who did you inspire and what did you inspire them to do?

0:23:200:23:23

I inspired my friend to do cricket.

0:23:230:23:25

-And he did it?

-Yes.

-Did he enjoy it?

-He enjoyed it.

0:23:250:23:28

You've now got your very own, YOUR Blue Peter Sport Badge 2016.

0:23:280:23:33

And that, by the way, is the very first one ever made.

0:23:330:23:38

-Thank you.

-My pleasure. It's down to you.

0:23:400:23:43

So now Sam officially has his own badge,

0:23:430:23:47

it's time to see what kitting out is all about.

0:23:470:23:50

Look at all this stuff!

0:23:500:23:53

This place is packed full of equipment and clothes.

0:23:530:23:56

Each day, a different team of athletes collect everything

0:23:560:23:59

they need for the Olympics, and that even includes fancy suits.

0:23:590:24:04

Today, it's the turn of the sailing team, who have high hopes for Rio.

0:24:040:24:08

Just behind me we've got all of Team GB's sailing squad

0:24:080:24:12

and they're all getting fitted out with some of their clothes.

0:24:120:24:15

This is a really special moment for them.

0:24:150:24:17

I reckon everyone dreams about when they first get their jersey

0:24:170:24:20

and get the Team GB logo on.

0:24:200:24:22

As well as being an incredible designer,

0:24:220:24:24

Sam's eyes are also razor-sharp because he's noticed something

0:24:240:24:28

inside all the suit jackets.

0:24:280:24:29

-What is that, Sam?

-It's messages. It says, "Good luck.

0:24:290:24:33

"Raise the bar.

0:24:330:24:35

"Go far."

0:24:350:24:36

And as well as all their kit, every athlete will get an envelope

0:24:360:24:40

containing the Blue Peter Sport Badge that Sam designed.

0:24:400:24:43

And there it is, there.

0:24:450:24:47

A certain Anthony Joshua and below him somebody you might recognise.

0:24:470:24:52

It's Sam right there.

0:24:520:24:54

And do you know what I love is the fact that whether you are

0:24:540:24:56

Jessica Ennis-Hill, one of the most famous sports heroes in the world,

0:24:560:25:00

or you're a Blue Peter viewer who loves the show,

0:25:000:25:04

you will get a Blue Peter letter...

0:25:040:25:07

and a Blue Peter badge too.

0:25:070:25:09

And, Sam, I think that deserves a happy dance.

0:25:090:25:11

We love Sam's badge, but what do the athletes think of it?

0:25:160:25:20

It's incredible. I've wanted a Blue Peter badge

0:25:240:25:27

since I was about five years old.

0:25:270:25:29

So this is kind of the best part so far.

0:25:290:25:31

I think it's great. I like all the different colours.

0:25:310:25:33

The outside was for the Brazil colours

0:25:330:25:36

-because you're going to it.

-Yeah?

-The background because we are GB

0:25:360:25:40

and the centre was the gold medal because you might get it.

0:25:400:25:45

Oh, it's got the Brazilian kind of colours in it, doesn't it?

0:25:450:25:47

-Exactly.

-Epic.

0:25:470:25:49

I think it's not going to last long with me.

0:25:490:25:51

I think my boys are going to take this straight off me.

0:25:510:25:53

-I think it's wicked.

-It's really cool.

0:25:530:25:55

Getting excited about the Olympics and I guess that's

0:25:550:25:57

what it took to get my badge.

0:25:570:25:59

Knowing that Sam, he's only ten years old,

0:25:590:26:01

has designed it especially for us,

0:26:010:26:03

those athletes that are flying out there, it's really special.

0:26:030:26:07

'What an incredible day.

0:26:070:26:09

'But I've actually got one final surprise.

0:26:090:26:12

'When we launched the Sport Badge competition,

0:26:120:26:14

'we also asked for an inspirational message.

0:26:140:26:17

'This was actually to go on a Team GB Brazilian Bahia band.

0:26:170:26:21

'And it's time to reveal that to Sam.'

0:26:210:26:24

What does that say there, Sam?

0:26:240:26:26

It says my inspirational message.

0:26:260:26:28

Which is?

0:26:280:26:29

"Believe in yourself, train hard,

0:26:290:26:31

"have your eyes on the prize and enjoy yourself."

0:26:310:26:34

And that is one the Bahia bands

0:26:340:26:36

every single athlete will be getting, to think...

0:26:360:26:39

..it's gold-medal time. Why? Because Sam says so.

0:26:410:26:44

-So, Sam, there you go, my friend.

-Thank you.

0:26:440:26:47

-Is today getting better and better?

-Even better and better.

0:26:470:26:51

What a prize that was.

0:26:540:26:56

-And I'm wearing Sam's Bahia band on my wrist right now.

-Amazing!

0:26:560:26:59

-Well done, Sam.

-WHISTLE BLOWS

0:26:590:27:01

Oh, that's the final whistle. That means it's the end of the show.

0:27:010:27:04

-The end of the game, we all won.

-But don't worry, guys,

0:27:040:27:06

there's loads of sporty goodness on the Blue Peter website right now,

0:27:060:27:09

just to get you really into the mood for Rio.

0:27:090:27:12

And there's a quirky quiz that asks questions like,

0:27:120:27:14

"Was the piggyback ever an Olympic sport?"

0:27:140:27:17

-Not a chance.

-Piggyback racing, what do we think?

-No!

0:27:170:27:19

Head to the website to find out.

0:27:190:27:21

Next week, we're passing the badge baton. Let me do this.

0:27:210:27:23

Do you want to catch it? Ready?

0:27:230:27:25

We're passing it on from the Sport Badge...

0:27:250:27:27

-Wow, good catch!

-..to the Green Badge.

-That's right.

0:27:270:27:29

I'm going to be taking a look at the creepy crawlies

0:27:290:27:32

-that call our forests in their home. Creepy crawlies.

-Yeah.

0:27:320:27:34

And gardener George will be back into the Blue Peter garden

0:27:340:27:37

showing us all of his garden-y wonderfulness.

0:27:370:27:39

We're also going to be coming face-to-face with some reptiles

0:27:390:27:42

that actually live in your back garden.

0:27:420:27:44

But for now, get onto Fan Club Hour. It starts straight after the show.

0:27:440:27:47

Good badge-holding, my friend. We'll see you next week. Bye!

0:27:470:27:51

You should be a presenter, that's genius.
