Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou...?

6:00:436:00:45

Linds, I'm Radzi, not Romeo.

6:00:456:00:47

Radz, I know, but I'm just practising

6:00:476:00:49

and getting into character,

6:00:496:00:50

because we're celebrating 400 years of William Shakespeare!

6:00:506:00:53

We don't have Romeo, but we do have the winner of The Voice

6:00:536:00:55

holding an armadillo.

6:00:556:00:57

Well, that's cool.

6:00:576:00:58

APPLAUSE

6:01:126:01:15

Hello!

6:01:156:01:17

Welcome to a live Blue Peter, and do not go anywhere, my friends,

6:01:176:01:20

because we have a bumper show coming your way right now.

6:01:206:01:23

You have already met the man himself,

6:01:236:01:24

the man, the myth, the legend, the winner of The Voice, Kevin Simm,

6:01:246:01:27

performing his brand-new single later on,

6:01:276:01:29

-All You Good Friends. Are you up for it, Kev?

-I can't wait!

6:01:296:01:32

-Straight up top!

-We love it. It's going to be a good show.

6:01:326:01:34

Head this way, because maybe you remember when we launched

6:01:346:01:37

our Team GB Blue Peter sport badge competition.

6:01:376:01:39

We're so excited about it,

6:01:396:01:41

because all the athletes going to Rio this year are going to get

6:01:416:01:44

their very own Blue Peter sport badge.

6:01:446:01:45

And today, we are announcing the winner of that competition.

6:01:456:01:48

Yes, we are. I'll be performing for the very first time

6:01:486:01:51

in a Shakespeare play, taking to the stage to celebrate 400 years

6:01:516:01:55

of the world's most famous playwright.

6:01:556:01:57

-I'm going to leave you there. See you later.

-Bye-bye, Linds.

6:01:576:02:00

We're going a little tour of the studio,

6:02:006:02:01

because I'm pretty excited to meet

6:02:016:02:03

three pretty amazing little creatures.

6:02:036:02:05

They've come in for a visit and they are joined by

6:02:056:02:07

our animal expert, Scott, everybody!

6:02:076:02:09

CHEERING

6:02:096:02:10

Scott, I'm going to very carefully... Is it OK if I climb in?

6:02:106:02:13

Of course, come on in. It's good to be back.

6:02:136:02:15

We love getting involved. Who have you brought along with you here?

6:02:156:02:18

As you're announcing the winner of your Team GB sports badge winner,

6:02:186:02:21

-and it's nearly the Olympics in Brazil...

-It is.

6:02:216:02:23

..I thought I'd bring along some of our animal friends

6:02:236:02:25

that originate from South America.

6:02:256:02:27

This is Dylan and Doris, our armadillos.

6:02:276:02:28

Oh, my goodness, we've got armadillos live in the studio!

6:02:286:02:31

This is so exciting, I have always wanted to meet an armadillo.

6:02:316:02:34

That is true, I was telling you earlier.

6:02:346:02:35

-You did.

-So if there's an animal that you've always wanted to meet,

6:02:356:02:38

we want to know, what is it and why?

6:02:386:02:40

Head online!

6:02:406:02:43

Tell us what that animal is, and we'd love to read your comment out

6:02:436:02:46

at the end of the show. Look at Doris!

6:02:466:02:47

-She jumps up a lot, doesn't she?

-She's very friendly.

6:02:476:02:50

We love them. So, tell me a little bit more about them.

6:02:506:02:52

Why are they so special?

6:02:526:02:53

Well, Dylan and Doris are actually six-banded armadillos,

6:02:536:02:56

and they get that name from the six squidgy bands across their back.

6:02:566:02:59

-Oh, yeah.

-They give them a bit of flexibility.

6:02:596:03:01

Now, did you know that the word armadillo

6:03:016:03:02

is Spanish for "little armoured one"?

6:03:026:03:04

-I didn't know that!

-That is quite cute.

-That is very cute, yeah.

6:03:046:03:07

And that refers to their bony plates that cover their head,

6:03:076:03:10

their body and their tail, as well,

6:03:106:03:11

so it's awesome protection from predators.

6:03:116:03:13

They are actually the only mammal to have a shell like this.

6:03:136:03:16

Oh, really? Do you know, while I'm feeling Doris here,

6:03:166:03:18

she's really warm. They're quite hot animals, aren't they?

6:03:186:03:21

They are quite enjoying the warm studio today,

6:03:216:03:23

because their habitat that they come from in the wild

6:03:236:03:25

is in South America - rainforests, semi-deserts and grasslands,

6:03:256:03:29

so they are...they really like it to be nice and warm.

6:03:296:03:31

OK. And they are nice and awake... Oh, hello!

6:03:316:03:33

Doris is ready for camera, she's woken up.

6:03:336:03:35

They are nice and awake today, aren't they, as well?

6:03:356:03:37

Yeah, well, these guys are actually

6:03:376:03:39

the only diurnal species of armadillo,

6:03:396:03:41

-so they are especially enjoying the heat.

-Diurnal.

6:03:416:03:43

That is a good word, everybody, write it down.

6:03:436:03:45

-Do you know what it means?

-No, tell me.

6:03:456:03:47

It means that they are awake in the day-time instead of the night-time.

6:03:476:03:50

It's brilliant. And they move quite quickly,

6:03:506:03:52

because when we were rehearsing earlier,

6:03:526:03:54

they were really scuttling about in here, weren't they?

6:03:546:03:56

They are actually quite speedy,

6:03:566:03:57

considering they've got quite short little legs, they're really fast.

6:03:576:04:00

That's because it is one of their main ways

6:04:006:04:02

of protecting themselves from predators,

6:04:026:04:04

so they run really fast, disappear down burrows,

6:04:046:04:06

or maybe into thorny bushes so that their armour protects them,

6:04:066:04:09

but the predator can't chase them. That works pretty good for them.

6:04:096:04:12

They're clever animals, they're so well adapted.

6:04:126:04:14

Do you want to know some other things about them?

6:04:146:04:16

-Yes, tell me more!

-You might have checked out

6:04:166:04:18

-that they've got tiny eyes, haven't they?

-Yeah.

6:04:186:04:20

They don't really see that well,

6:04:206:04:21

so their super-sense to find their way around

6:04:216:04:23

is this big, long, squidgy nose. You can hear her, like...

6:04:236:04:26

HE SNIFFS They are doing a lot of sniffing around this hay here!

6:04:266:04:29

That's a super sense of smell. If she comes up on her back legs,

6:04:296:04:32

you will be able to see she's got gigantic claws

6:04:326:04:34

that she uses for digging burrows, so she's an expert digger.

6:04:346:04:36

She's got a gigantic, long, sticky tongue, just like an anteater,

6:04:366:04:39

that she's related to,

6:04:396:04:40

so she can slurp up ants and termites out of burrows.

6:04:406:04:43

That's the type of thing she likes to eat, but other things, as well.

6:04:436:04:46

-Yeah.

-Do you want to know what else she eats?

-Yeah!

6:04:466:04:48

She will eat plants, fruit, and even other animals.

6:04:486:04:51

Vertebrate animals like lizards and frogs.

6:04:516:04:54

Do you think she's hungry now? I know lots of people at home

6:04:546:04:56

might be having their dinner. Is it snack time?

6:04:566:04:58

-Would you like to feed them?

-Yes, please!

-You might not like

6:04:586:05:01

-what they're going to be eating today.

-Oh, really?

6:05:016:05:03

They like to eat things that wiggle,

6:05:036:05:04

their most favourite food is definitely insects.

6:05:046:05:07

We've got some little wiggly worms here.

6:05:076:05:08

I'm going to hold them. This is going to tickle, isn't it? Ugh!

6:05:086:05:11

So if you turn that into a burrow for them.

6:05:116:05:13

-Turn it into a burrow, like this?

-OK.

-OK.

6:05:136:05:15

Let's see if we can get one of them back around.

6:05:156:05:17

Doris, do you want a snack?

6:05:176:05:19

Here you go!

6:05:196:05:20

She's having a little feed there.

6:05:206:05:22

You'll be able to see the big, long tongue coming out.

6:05:226:05:25

This is amazing! This is so cool!

6:05:256:05:26

She's eating all her little worms. I can feel that tongue as well.

6:05:266:05:29

Aww, that was... Yeah, did you enjoy that?

6:05:296:05:32

-Did she get them all?

-Yeah! Now, you've brought

6:05:326:05:34

a little friend of theirs along as well, haven't you?

6:05:346:05:37

I've brought along another type

6:05:376:05:38

-of armadillo for you to meet as well.

-Yes!

6:05:386:05:40

-Quite a cute little armadillo.

-You can never have enough armadillos.

6:05:406:05:43

No, we're done, Doris, that's enough!

6:05:436:05:45

You've had all your snacks, just wait!

6:05:456:05:47

She's lovely.

6:05:476:05:51

-So who is this?

-So this is Melon, and Melon is...

6:05:516:05:55

a one, two, three-banded armadillo.

6:05:556:05:57

-Oh, wow.

-Also from South America.

6:05:576:05:59

She's actually quite a special little armadillo,

6:05:596:06:01

because out of all the species of armadillo,

6:06:016:06:03

she's the only one that can curl up in a proper ball.

6:06:036:06:06

-That's incredibly satisfying.

-Her head and tail are perfect shapes,

6:06:066:06:09

and they lock into each other to make themselves

6:06:096:06:11

into a ball of armour, so that's pretty cool, right?

6:06:116:06:14

She looks so cool, can I hold her?

6:06:146:06:15

-Yeah, are you ready to hold her?

-Hello, Melon!

6:06:156:06:17

I'm holding an armadillo! This is amazing.

6:06:176:06:20

This is why being a Blue Peter presenter is the best job.

6:06:206:06:22

Actually, she feels like a little teddy bear.

6:06:226:06:24

Like I'm holding a little teddy.

6:06:246:06:26

-But she's really warm, isn't she?

-She's nice and warm.

6:06:266:06:28

She's been in her hay. Oh, we love them.

6:06:286:06:30

If you want to see what these armadillos have been up to,

6:06:306:06:33

we've had a little armadillo-cam in here,

6:06:336:06:35

in the studio, watching them all day,

6:06:356:06:37

their secret little life. Make sure you head online to the website

6:06:376:06:40

after the show, and check it out.

6:06:406:06:42

And from me and Melon and Scott,

6:06:426:06:44

thank you so much for bringing these gorgeous creatures in! Radzi.

6:06:446:06:47

There's a lot of love for armadillos,

6:06:476:06:50

especially from Natalie from Norfolk.

6:06:506:06:52

Check out the detail Natalie has in making this 3D armadillo.

6:06:526:06:56

We've got chocolate coins,

6:06:566:06:57

the wrappers there, going all the way along the shell.

6:06:576:07:00

The same for the ears. The detail!

6:07:006:07:01

Cardboard for the tail, egg crate for the head,

6:07:016:07:04

Natalie, absolutely fantastic job.

6:07:046:07:06

And, do you remember a few weeks ago, I performed as Adele?

6:07:066:07:10

Do you indeed? That is me giving it the beans there. Well...

6:07:106:07:13

-You gave it everything.

-..Amelia from Manchester certainly does.

6:07:136:07:15

She's recreated it perfectly here.

6:07:156:07:18

Even with my textured coat there. Saying, "Hello, it's me!"

6:07:186:07:22

And that's about as good as my singing voice gets, but, Amelia,

6:07:226:07:25

that gets you a blue Blue Peter badge.

6:07:256:07:27

Now, I'm just going to wipe all this armadillo off my hands here.

6:07:276:07:30

You may remember that last week... They really did have a good nibble!

6:07:306:07:33

You may remember, last week, we were out in the garden,

6:07:336:07:35

planting some rocket seeds. You can see us, the red and the blue ones.

6:07:356:07:38

We don't know which have been to space,

6:07:386:07:40

but Jacob from Warwick has written in this, he says,

6:07:406:07:43

"I wonder which is the space rocket?"

6:07:436:07:45

And then you can have a look down here,

6:07:456:07:47

he's got the red ones with little shoots of rocket growing out,

6:07:476:07:49

and the blue ones with actual mini-rockets growing out of them,

6:07:496:07:53

so I think Jacob thinks he knows

6:07:536:07:54

that the blue ones are the space rockets.

6:07:546:07:57

Well, Jacob, you'll have to wait and find out, my friend.

6:07:576:07:59

Tim Peake will be revealing it later.

6:07:596:08:01

-We actually don't know.

-We don't know. We don't know, J.

6:08:016:08:03

On that same show, we investigated the pond,

6:08:036:08:05

and William from Solihull did exactly the same thing.

6:08:056:08:07

That's there. I'm going to call that fish Radzi,

6:08:076:08:09

it's official, I just said it there on live Blue Peter.

6:08:096:08:12

Well, look at this creation from William.

6:08:126:08:14

Glitter along the fish here, the detail of all the different fish.

6:08:146:08:17

William, that's earned you a blue badge, my friend! Well done, sir!

6:08:176:08:20

Now, someone who doesn't need a Blue Peter badge,

6:08:206:08:23

because she's got a gold one, is Her Majesty, the Queen.

6:08:236:08:26

You can see her here getting her gold badge in 2002.

6:08:266:08:28

Well, we've got a little treat that's been sent in to her,

6:08:286:08:31

-because it is the big 9-0 today.

-It is the 9-0!

6:08:316:08:34

It's her 90th, so, happy birthday to Her Majesty, the Queen.

6:08:346:08:38

And this has been sent in by Natalie -

6:08:386:08:39

I'll turn it this way - from Worcester.

6:08:396:08:41

-Have a look at that.

-Look at that.

6:08:416:08:43

She's put so many candles, sprinkles,

6:08:436:08:44

there's bits of cream and sweeties on the side.

6:08:446:08:47

We've got foam there, making the sponge.

6:08:476:08:48

And we've even got some red string making the jam.

6:08:486:08:50

Natalie, you are a genius. We're going to eat this later.

6:08:506:08:53

Off the chart, absolutely off the chart.

6:08:536:08:55

Well done to all of you who've sent something in.

6:08:556:08:57

Thank you to all of you, and remember,

6:08:576:08:58

if you get your hands on a Blue Peter badge,

6:08:586:09:00

you can get into over, Lindsey Russell,

6:09:006:09:02

200 attractions across the UK...

6:09:026:09:03

-BOTH:

-# ..for free! #

6:09:036:09:04

-We're getting better at that!

-We are!

6:09:046:09:06

Nearly a harmony there.

6:09:066:09:07

And we love it when you write to us and send in all this brilliant post,

6:09:076:09:10

because it fills up our Badge Wall. So if you want to do that,

6:09:106:09:13

the address that you need is going to be right here!

6:09:136:09:16

It is:

6:09:166:09:17

2BH, or not 2BH?

6:09:206:09:22

I see what you did there, Lindsey!

6:09:226:09:24

She allowed me to link in to my challenge,

6:09:246:09:26

it's the acting challenge, it's my Shakespeare, check it out!

6:09:266:09:28

The Royal Shakespeare Company are on tour with A Midsummer Night's Dream,

6:09:326:09:36

one of Shakespeare's most famous plays,

6:09:366:09:38

and they've given me the opportunity to perform with them.

6:09:386:09:42

That's fine! Because with my acting background,

6:09:426:09:44

what could possibly go wrong?

6:09:446:09:47

Ahem, yeah, I am a natural on stage. No problem.

6:09:476:09:51

Anyway, first, I need to show the director, Erica, what I can do.

6:09:516:09:56

Now until the break of day,

6:09:566:09:58

through this house, each fairy stray.

6:09:586:10:02

Meet me all by break of day.

6:10:026:10:04

'Time for Erica's feedback.'

6:10:046:10:07

-What did you think?

-I guess there's some things to work on

6:10:076:10:10

in terms of standing on a stage.

6:10:106:10:11

I'd love to hear your voice come out more strongly.

6:10:116:10:14

And in quite a big theatre,

6:10:146:10:15

we're going to need to find a bit more power in your voice.

6:10:156:10:18

I'll be doing three things in the play.

6:10:186:10:21

I'll have to say a line, take part in a dance sequence, and sing.

6:10:216:10:25

That's right, I said sing. As in, a song.

6:10:256:10:28

HE LAUGHS

6:10:286:10:29

Mmm. This could be tricky.

6:10:296:10:31

But who better to give me some help than the cast of a play?

6:10:316:10:35

ALL: # La-la lullaby

6:10:356:10:39

# Never harm, nor spell, nor charm... #

6:10:396:10:43

I am so out of my depth. I am like a person learning

6:10:456:10:48

to swim for the first time, I am doing it in the Atlantic Ocean.

6:10:486:10:51

# Singing our sweet lullaby... #

6:10:516:10:56

He's doing very well with the skills, he's singing in tune

6:10:566:11:00

and he's learning the moves.

6:11:006:11:01

To be able to stay absolutely on the timing

6:11:016:11:04

and to know the words really accurately,

6:11:046:11:06

he's going to have to do quite a lot of rehearsing it.

6:11:066:11:08

# Lullaby... #

6:11:086:11:14

Yeah!

6:11:146:11:15

APPLAUSE

6:11:156:11:16

-Very good!

-I was awful!

6:11:166:11:18

A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's best loved comedies.

6:11:196:11:23

Born over 400 years ago in Stratford-upon-Avon,

6:11:236:11:26

Shakespeare wrote around 37 plays.

6:11:266:11:30

Not content with writing them, he also performed in them, too,

6:11:306:11:33

playing many of his biggest roles, such as Hamlet and Othello.

6:11:336:11:37

He contributed over 3,000 words to the English language, and his plays

6:11:376:11:42

contain many popular phrases that we still use today.

6:11:426:11:45

My role is part of the fairy train, a group of fairies that serve

6:11:476:11:51

the fairy queen, Titania.

6:11:516:11:54

But this production is unique,

6:11:546:11:55

because they are asking local schoolchildren to take part.

6:11:556:11:59

And for one night only,

6:11:596:12:01

I'm getting to perform alongside this lot in Bradford.

6:12:016:12:04

Although I've been practising at home,

6:12:066:12:08

this is our first full rehearsal together.

6:12:086:12:10

I am so underprepared,

6:12:166:12:17

and these guys know exactly what they're doing.

6:12:176:12:20

Help!

6:12:226:12:23

We start with a song.

6:12:236:12:25

In the first rehearsal, this is what I struggled with.

6:12:256:12:28

# Newts and blindworms, do no wrong

6:12:286:12:31

# Come not near our fairy queen... #

6:12:316:12:35

I just about muddle through,

6:12:356:12:36

but now it's the dance that I'm finding hard.

6:12:366:12:40

I'm making loads of mistakes.

6:12:406:12:43

Wake up, Radzi!

6:12:446:12:45

'But something I do get right is my one line.'

6:12:466:12:50

Ever shall in safety rest.

6:12:506:12:52

APPLAUSE

6:12:556:12:57

That was tough.

6:12:586:13:00

I've got to learn a song, which I don't know very well.

6:13:006:13:05

The dance, I thought I knew,

6:13:056:13:06

and it turns out the easy part is actually the hard part.

6:13:066:13:10

I've got a lot of revision to do tonight.

6:13:106:13:13

The big day is finally here.

6:13:136:13:15

It's time for me to get into my costume.

6:13:156:13:17

And it's not your usual fairy outfit.

6:13:176:13:20

This production is giving Shakespeare a shake-up,

6:13:206:13:23

and going for a more modern look.

6:13:236:13:25

Costume and make-up done, I get to see the stage for the first time.

6:13:276:13:30

Look at this space!

6:13:306:13:34

OK, the nerves have genuinely...

6:13:346:13:36

They've kicked in now.

6:13:376:13:38

While I get ready with the rest of my fairy train...

6:13:406:13:43

-ALL:

-Woooo!

6:13:436:13:45

THEY CHEER

6:13:456:13:46

You'll be amazing!

6:13:466:13:47

..the audience take their seats, and the show begins.

6:13:476:13:51

It's time for us to head to stage and perform our dance.

6:13:536:13:56

Fairies, away!

6:14:066:14:07

Thou shalt not from this grove!

6:14:086:14:11

I managed to remember all the moves!

6:14:116:14:13

I can't believe it!

6:14:136:14:14

First time on stage, how are we feeling?

6:14:146:14:17

It was awesome!

6:14:176:14:19

Excited!

6:14:196:14:20

-Did you do it?

-Yeah!

6:14:206:14:22

We are off to a flying start and feeling great.

6:14:226:14:26

But next up is the song!

6:14:266:14:29

# You spotted snakes with double tongue

6:14:296:14:31

# Thorny hedgehogs, be not seen

6:14:316:14:36

# Newts and blindworms, do no wrong

6:14:366:14:38

# Come not near our fairy queen

6:14:386:14:45

# Philomel, with melody

6:14:456:14:50

# Sing in our sweet lullaby... #

6:14:506:14:56

The audience are loving it.

6:14:566:14:58

But there's one last thing we have to get right.

6:14:586:15:02

Our solo lines.

6:15:026:15:04

Ever shall in safety rest.

6:15:046:15:05

Trip away. Make no stay.

6:15:056:15:08

Meet me all by break of day.

6:15:086:15:11

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

6:15:116:15:13

Oh, my goodness gracious, I was so nervous out there.

6:15:156:15:19

All of us were.

6:15:196:15:20

We were out three times, and I think we got three out of three.

6:15:206:15:23

400 years on, and Shakespeare's still bringing the house down.

6:15:236:15:28

It's great to see people of all ages loving his work.

6:15:286:15:32

Nice one, Bill!

6:15:326:15:33

I just want to say an enormous thank you to everyone at the RSC

6:15:356:15:38

for being such legends. Shakespeare really is for everyone.

6:15:386:15:42

-It's difficult, though, isn't it?

-It's hard.

6:15:426:15:44

-And you did a really, really good job.

-Thank you.

6:15:446:15:46

Well done, Radz, I was proud of you. Fellow thespian!

6:15:466:15:48

Now it's time for the moment that you and I have all been waiting for.

6:15:486:15:51

It's time to reveal the winners

6:15:516:15:53

of the Blue Peter sport badge competition.

6:15:536:15:55

This is, quite possibly, my favourite of all

6:15:556:15:57

the Blue Peter competitions I've been involved with,

6:15:576:15:59

because not only do you have to design the badge,

6:15:596:16:01

but that very badge will get given to every single member

6:16:016:16:05

of Team GB who are going to the Olympics.

6:16:056:16:08

-Off the charts! Off the charts.

-And you lot at home, our BP crew,

6:16:086:16:10

you really rose to the challenge, because, actually, in the end,

6:16:106:16:13

we had 4,867 entries.

6:16:136:16:17

-APPLAUSE

-Yeah!

-That's pretty amazing, isn't it?

6:16:176:16:19

You should be really proud of yourselves

6:16:196:16:21

for having a go. Well done.

6:16:216:16:22

I was lucky enough to be on the judging panel,

6:16:226:16:24

and I can assure you, it was a very, very difficult task.

6:16:246:16:26

We deliberated for such a long time,

6:16:266:16:28

but we had to come up with a decision about the winner,

6:16:286:16:32

and that decision was made.

6:16:326:16:34

So, Linds, let's reveal the official runners-up.

6:16:346:16:36

Wow. They are looking incredible. They are so colourful!

6:16:366:16:40

There are some really, really clever ideas here, as well.

6:16:406:16:43

You can see loads of GB flags,

6:16:436:16:44

you can see the Blue Peter logo dotted about everywhere.

6:16:446:16:47

We've even got some parrots and some climbers and some runners.

6:16:476:16:51

It's all there. We're so impressed. And if you can see yours here,

6:16:516:16:54

you have officially earned yourself a Blue Peter orange badge,

6:16:546:16:57

so you should be really, really proud of yourselves.

6:16:576:16:59

-Good job, everyone!

-Linds!

-Yes?

6:16:596:17:01

-Should we reveal it?

-OK.

-Now it's time to reveal the top entries

6:17:016:17:04

for each age category.

6:17:046:17:06

Starting with age six to eight-year-olds.

6:17:066:17:08

And, the top entry is...

6:17:086:17:12

..Sam from Stafford!

6:17:136:17:14

-APPLAUSE

-Well done, Sam!

6:17:146:17:17

-Wow.

-The thing I love most of all about this design is the fact that

6:17:176:17:20

he's really, really captured the idea of it being a British team

6:17:206:17:24

going to a Brazil Olympics, with a gold medal in the middle.

6:17:246:17:27

Fantastic job, Sam, well done.

6:17:276:17:29

Very clever and bold, we like that. OK, next in the nine to 11 category,

6:17:296:17:33

the top entry is...

6:17:336:17:35

..Phoebe from West Sussex!

6:17:366:17:38

-APPLAUSE

-Well done!

6:17:386:17:40

Again, we think this one is so clever,

6:17:406:17:43

because you've got your GB flag,

6:17:436:17:44

but in the shape of the Blue Peter ship just behind.

6:17:446:17:46

And on top you have some really amazing colours, here.

6:17:466:17:49

It did really stand out, didn't it, Radzi?

6:17:496:17:50

-Really stands out.

-Very, very clever design. Well done, Phoebe.

6:17:506:17:53

So the last top entry for age 12 to 15-year-olds.

6:17:536:17:57

And it is...

6:17:576:17:59

Hettie from Dorset!

6:17:596:18:01

-APPLAUSE

-Straight away, it just jumps off the page, doesn't it?

6:18:016:18:05

The way she's manipulated the medals, with the British flag,

6:18:056:18:07

with the Brazilian flag,

6:18:076:18:09

and then having the Blue Peter ship

6:18:096:18:10

taking pride of place on the gold medal, fantastic job.

6:18:106:18:13

Now, of course, it was so tough whittling it down

6:18:136:18:15

from all of these you can see behind us

6:18:156:18:17

to all of these top entries, they were all brilliant.

6:18:176:18:19

But, of course, you know, it's the orange badge,

6:18:196:18:22

there does have to be a winner.

6:18:226:18:23

So, drumroll, please.

6:18:236:18:25

DRUMROLL

6:18:256:18:27

The winner of the 2016 Blue Peter sport badge competition is...

6:18:276:18:33

..Sam from Stafford!

6:18:346:18:36

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

6:18:366:18:38

We really did feel this was a stand-out winner, and, actually,

6:18:406:18:43

Sam is only in the studio right now.

6:18:436:18:45

Will you please give a big welcome to Sam?

6:18:456:18:47

APPLAUSE

6:18:476:18:48

Sam, Sam, Sam, straight up top, my friend.

6:18:486:18:51

Take a seat. Oh, my goodness gracious me!

6:18:516:18:54

You are, officially, our Blue Peter sports badge competition winner,

6:18:546:18:58

how are you feeling?

6:18:586:18:59

Really happy.

6:18:596:19:00

You look really happy with that big smile on your face.

6:19:006:19:03

So, when you found out you'd won,

6:19:036:19:04

what was going through your head? How were you feeling?

6:19:046:19:06

I was really shocked,

6:19:066:19:09

and really happy.

6:19:096:19:11

I'll bet you were. I applied to many competitions when I was younger

6:19:116:19:14

and I didn't win a single one, so you are awesome.

6:19:146:19:16

Now, let's talk about the design here.

6:19:166:19:18

You haven't seen this before. but this is for you,

6:19:186:19:20

and this is the official computerised design of your badge,

6:19:206:19:25

which is how it will eventually get manufactured.

6:19:256:19:27

What inspired the design?

6:19:276:19:29

Well, I thought, um, of the medal

6:19:306:19:35

as what they might get, and,

6:19:356:19:38

the green and yellow for the Brazil colours.

6:19:386:19:44

You really have done a fantastic job there, Sam.

6:19:446:19:47

I just love the idea that the badge

6:19:476:19:49

the Team GB athletes will be wearing is your badge.

6:19:496:19:52

Not a manufactured... The one you designed!

6:19:526:19:55

What do you think about that?

6:19:556:19:57

-It's amazing!

-It is amazing, isn't it?

6:19:576:20:00

And you've a favourite athlete that you can't wait to,

6:20:006:20:03

hopefully, give him his badge.

6:20:036:20:04

Or her badge.

6:20:046:20:06

Tom Daley.

6:20:066:20:07

-Tom Daley, why Tom Daley?

-Because he smiles all the time

6:20:076:20:10

and he's really good at what sport he does.

6:20:106:20:13

He absolutely is, I think he might possibly

6:20:136:20:15

be getting himself a gold medal as well.

6:20:156:20:16

But also, what I love is the idea that all the people at home

6:20:166:20:19

will be wearing your badge.

6:20:196:20:20

Thousands of Blue Peter viewers will be wearing your badge.

6:20:206:20:23

-And I know you love Blue Peter.

-Yeah.

6:20:236:20:25

Will any of your friends be wearing it?

6:20:256:20:26

A few of them said that they want to get it.

6:20:266:20:31

Well, I'm going to look forward to seeing that.

6:20:316:20:33

And you're a little bit of a celebrity, aren't you?

6:20:336:20:35

Because, as you'll know, if you applied

6:20:356:20:37

or actually tried to design the badge yourself,

6:20:376:20:39

along with designing it,

6:20:396:20:40

you always had to include an inspirational message

6:20:406:20:43

to help inspire people to get behind Team GB.

6:20:436:20:46

Sam did just that, and because of that,

6:20:466:20:48

you got to attend a rather special photoshoot

6:20:486:20:50

with an Olympic gold medallist

6:20:506:20:51

who is also only the IBF World Heavyweight Champion,

6:20:516:20:54

-Anthony Joshua, didn't you?

-Yeah.

6:20:546:20:55

Let's take a look. There he is there!

6:20:556:20:57

You look like you're best friends! What's he like?

6:20:576:21:00

Uh, he's really nice,

6:21:006:21:02

-and he's got a really, really loud laugh.

-Does he really?

6:21:026:21:05

And a really hard punch, as well.

6:21:056:21:07

-Yeah.

-Now, Sam, what would you say if I said to you

6:21:076:21:10

that I told you a porkie pie, possibly,

6:21:106:21:12

about us not having the badge ready yet,

6:21:126:21:14

that, actually, the very first Blue Peter sport badge 2016

6:21:146:21:18

is in my hand right now? Would you like to see it?

6:21:186:21:21

Well, can we have a second drumroll, please?

6:21:216:21:23

DRUMROLL

6:21:236:21:25

Sam...

6:21:256:21:26

..there it is.

6:21:276:21:29

What do you... Can we have a round of applause?

6:21:296:21:31

APPLAUSE

6:21:316:21:32

What do you think of that?

6:21:326:21:34

It's really good!

6:21:346:21:36

You made that! That was you!

6:21:366:21:39

The craft, the detail.

6:21:396:21:40

I think that has just become my favourite

6:21:406:21:43

of all the Blue Peter badges.

6:21:436:21:44

Now, Sam, it is at this point that I say,

6:21:456:21:47

how are you going to earn your one of these?

6:21:476:21:50

Even the winner of a Blue Peter sport badge competition

6:21:506:21:52

doesn't get to keep the badge, you've got to earn it.

6:21:526:21:54

-So what sport are you going to do?

-Cricket.

6:21:546:21:56

And who are you going to inspire?

6:21:566:21:57

Uh...

6:21:576:21:59

A football friend.

6:21:596:22:00

Straight up top. If you'd like to earn yours,

6:22:006:22:02

all you've got to do is watch next week's show,

6:22:026:22:04

it is as simple as that.

6:22:046:22:05

And the runners-up designs are all on the Blue Peter website.

6:22:056:22:08

So, one more time, baby - can we please give it up

6:22:116:22:13

for our competition winner, Sam?

6:22:136:22:14

APPLAUSE

6:22:146:22:17

So it's from one winner to another.

6:22:176:22:20

The artist with the most viewer votes tonight, and therefore

6:22:226:22:25

winner of The Voice 2016 is...

6:22:256:22:29

SHOUTING AND CHEERING

6:22:316:22:33

..it's Kevin!

6:22:436:22:44

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

6:22:446:22:49

And here he is now, it's Kevin Simm, everybody!

6:22:546:22:57

APPLAUSE

6:22:576:22:59

Wow, Kevin, what a whirlwind. Congratulations,

6:22:596:23:02

and I should say welcome to Blue Peter, but, really,

6:23:026:23:05

it's welcome back, cos you were on this show, was it ten years ago,

6:23:056:23:09

with the pop band Liberty X that you were in.

6:23:096:23:11

I think we've got a nice little picture here of you

6:23:116:23:13

-in your dashing vest and jeans.

-Yes.

-It's a good look, Kevin.

6:23:136:23:16

Thanks, well, I've got a vest on under here.

6:23:166:23:19

I'm glad you've come in the shirt today.

6:23:196:23:21

Good move. Now, oh, my goodness, you won The Voice.

6:23:216:23:23

How are you feeling? Is that a silly question?

6:23:236:23:25

-No, well, it's just been a bit of a whirlwind, like you say.

-Yeah.

6:23:256:23:29

Yeah, it's just been amazing, the last week's been brilliant,

6:23:296:23:32

and, obviously, getting to come on Blue Peter is a massive thing.

6:23:326:23:35

Dreams can come true!

6:23:356:23:36

-Of course.

-Officially. You've got your own BP badge.

6:23:366:23:38

Of course, all the judges turned for you,

6:23:386:23:40

which must have felt incredible,

6:23:406:23:42

but will.i.am said you had the best voice in the music industry.

6:23:426:23:45

Quite a statement, there, isn't it?

6:23:456:23:46

Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of that,

6:23:466:23:48

but it was amazing to get such comments

6:23:486:23:50

of someone like will.i.am. Amazing.

6:23:506:23:53

And you've won The Voice, so what's next? An album, hopefully?

6:23:536:23:56

Yeah, I'm going to be writing an album,

6:23:566:23:59

pretty much straight away, I guess. I'll go home and see my kids

6:23:596:24:01

-and my wife and have a bit of time with them.

-Have a bit of chill time.

6:24:016:24:04

Before you go home and chill, you're going to be singing your single

6:24:046:24:07

a little bit later on, aren't you?

6:24:076:24:09

Yeah, I'll be singing my single, All You Good Friends,

6:24:096:24:11

so I hope everyone at home enjoys it.

6:24:116:24:14

It is very catchy. Warning: It will be in your head all night.

6:24:146:24:16

Kevin, we can't wait, thank you. Kevin Simm, everybody!

6:24:166:24:19

APPLAUSE

6:24:196:24:20

Congratulations.

6:24:206:24:22

Earlier in the show, we asked you if you could meet any animal,

6:24:226:24:25

what would it be and why?

6:24:256:24:27

Lots of you have got in touch. Amber Hyperlima says,

6:24:276:24:29

"I'd like to meet a sloth, because its long arms

6:24:296:24:32

"look like it would give you a big cuddle."

6:24:326:24:34

-That's nice!

-Aww, they're so sleepy, sloths, as well, they're lovely.

6:24:346:24:38

Red Violet Quick Kudu says,

6:24:386:24:40

"I would meet an orang-utan, because I wrote a story about me

6:24:406:24:43

"and an orang-utan presenting Blue Peter."

6:24:436:24:45

-Wow!

-That's a dream and a half.

6:24:456:24:47

I like that, that would be a good show.

6:24:476:24:49

Ivory Musical Seahorse says, "I'd meet a unicorn,"

6:24:496:24:51

-mythical creature, but we'll go with it anyway.

-That's fine.

6:24:516:24:53

Says, "I love unicorns, and it would fly around America!"

6:24:536:24:56

Because why not?

6:24:566:24:58

Pearl Flowery Antelope says, "A lettuce leaf sea slug,

6:24:586:25:01

"because I want to know what one really looks like."

6:25:016:25:03

So do I, what even is that? Sounds great.

6:25:036:25:05

Now, if you were online earlier on our fan club,

6:25:056:25:07

you will know that we were playing

6:25:076:25:09

Presenter Bingo, and I... Thanks for coming closer!

6:25:096:25:11

I said the word "teddy bear" when I was holding the armadillo,

6:25:116:25:14

and the person that won that was Jet Awful Prince,

6:25:146:25:18

a massive well done to you.

6:25:186:25:20

Whilst you are online, try the new Shakespeare quiz, it's called

6:25:206:25:23

Two Bees Or Not Two Bees?

6:25:236:25:24

We've got Shakespeare pictures,

6:25:246:25:26

and you've either got two bees or you don't!

6:25:266:25:28

That's it for this week, but make sure you are watching next week,

6:25:286:25:31

it's all about Team GB, because we will be showing you

6:25:316:25:34

how you can earn your very own Blue Peter Team GB sport badge.

6:25:346:25:38

I definitely want one.

6:25:386:25:40

As well as that, I am going to be playing hockey

6:25:406:25:42

with Team GB, right there,

6:25:426:25:44

you can see me having a go. Uh, not very good!

6:25:446:25:47

I give roller derby a go, and if you think you were bad at that,

6:25:476:25:50

I was really bad at roller derby. I fell over a lot!

6:25:506:25:52

As well as that, we're joined in the studio by super-scientist Greg Foot.

6:25:526:25:55

We're talking about sport and speed, it's going to be cool.

6:25:556:25:58

But now, it's time to put your hands together for

6:25:586:26:01

the man, the myth, the legend, Kevin Simm.

6:26:016:26:03
