if there's one thing I love, it's wrestling,

The way we ended 2016 was awesome and it was with something

very special about the sport badge. Take a look at this.

Last year, over 10,000 of you applied for a Blue Peter sport badge

and one of those, Oscar, got to be on the judging panel for

Young Sports Personality Of The Year.

I think it might be hard to pick out of the two because you can't

really let one win because they are both very similar.

They narrowed down the finalists to a top three.

A few weeks later the winner was announced.

and that's exactly where Oscar and I are heading.

It's just 24 hours until

one of the biggest dates in the sporting calendar.

Rehearsals are very much under way and I'm here with Oscar.

just what it takes to put on this sporting super-sized spectacular.

I'll be meeting some massive sporting stars and have

You have to have a very good short-term memory, actually,

You have a great job and what are the coolest things about being

a sport presenter?

We're very, very privileged to be in some of those great arenas

and those great moments and be able to speak to those people in the

heat of battle. You know, they've just finished their moment

and we get to stick a microphone

under their nose and ask them the questions.

It's like taking an exam in your favourite subject every

single day and I quite like that.

Good evening and welcome to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2016.

'As the show begins, Oscar and I head backstage to interview some of

'our sporting heroes and find out

'what Sports Personality means to them.'

It's a really special occasion because it celebrates, you know,

all the fantastic British sport, but also for us as athletes to be

able to see our other fellow athletes.

Normally when we go to events, we're all paraded around as the

Olympian, which is nice, but it's also nice to go to an event and sort

of feel normal and be surrounded by people in the same job as us.

Do you have any advice for the people watching out here?

I think the best piece of advice is to just work incredibly hard

and be focused on what it is that you want to do.

It's incredibly difficult to become the best in the world at something,

but it's all about having that ambition

and being prepared to work hard.

'Between them, these guys have won countless medals and championships,

'but there's one thing they all want to get their hands on.'

especially because I was up against some amazing athletes on the way.

An incredible end to 2016 for world number one Andy Murray.

It's been an amazing year for British sport and I'm very proud

Boys, what do you think the recycled Blue Peter badges are made out of?

-I know. Shark teeth.

-It's not shark teeth, no. Any ideas?

-I was going to go with baby teeth.

-It's not baby teeth either.

They're easy to collect, aren't they? No, it's actually yoghurt pots

mostly, which gave me a bit of inspiration for this week's

Blue Peter make. Take a look at these.

-How good are they?

-Look at those.

-They're called Blue Peter bakes.

They're designed around the badge and they're called bakes -

-not quite biscuits and not quite cakes.

-Nice.

-Did you come up with that?

-No, they did, I'm just saying it and

making myself look like I know what I'm doing.

So obviously you've got the main ingredients in there which

-are very important, Radzi, which would be...

-Yoghurt pots.

-Not quite.

Yoghurt. If you follow me over here, I'll show you how to make them.

They're really simple. Take a look at the ingredient list.

These are all the things that you're going to need.

Plain flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda,

pinch of salt, caster sugar, egg white, 200g of yoghurt,

zest from one lemon, vanilla extract,

blueberries, fresh or frozen -

it don't really matter, mate - and kitchen foil.

I'm whizzing through this to show you,

but you can go to the Blue Peter website and find

everything that you need on there. So first things first,

we're going to do our dry mix and when

we're putting our dry mix in the oven... In the oven?

In a bowl, we need to make sure that our oven is at 190,

that's the temperature these are going to cook in.

So that's our flour, our bicarb of soda,

our baking powder and our salt. Dry mix done, it's that easy.

Put it over to one side. Now we're going to do our wet mix.

Now we need an egg white, which means we need to get the yolk

out of the white and at the moment, they're both in the same shell.

So what we do is we give it a little crack on one bowl and then very,

very gently, you want to make sure the bigger half is at the bottom

and you can see there the egg white just flying out, but the yolk isn't.

What you want to do is just gently juggle the yolk from one shell

to the other and as you're doing that,

the white will fall out into the bowl below.

Now, don't throw the yolk away, you might need to use that for

a cake if you're making one later on, but don't waste food.

OK, now we need to get a towel and wipe my whitey fingers.

And then whisk the egg white in a bowl.

It doesn't need to be too whisked, we're not making a meringue here,

we're just making a nice frothy, bubbly mess.

That'll do nicely and then we add everything else.

We've got our sugar.

We've got half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, or a little bit more

if your name is Barney Harwood, because you know you like vanilla.

Lemon zest, in it goes, and then we're going to chuck in our yoghurt.

Honestly, I know I talk about this every time I do a make,

but I really wish we had smelly vision.

We've got to get someone to work on that, it smells so good, this.

Then what we do is give it a good old whisk.

That's our wet mix.

And then we're going to put our dry into our wet.

Don't put the wet into the dry, because it'll go all lumpy

and nobody wants that in their life.

OK. Good old whisk.

And once you've done that for about nine years, it looks like this.

Now, you're after a really big, sticky, gloopy mess.

It's supposed to look like that and then once you've got your mix,

you want to put it into your Blue Peter badge-shaped moulds.

Now, you can't buy those, but this is Blue Peter.

We can make them and if you head online to where you found the

ingredients, you'll see a masterclass.

It's basically me folding tinfoil to show you how to make those shapes.

It's very easy to do and, of course, you have to do that before

you do the next step, which is to put our mex, our MIX

inside our moulds.

So you want one heaped teaspoon.

One teaspoon isn't enough, by the way. You need to have two teaspoons

to do this and make sure it's really heaped. OK.

See, I'm an expert at this, aren't I? OK. Good.

There we go, right in the middle.

Now, before this, I've buttered the sides of the moulds, because

we don't want our bake to stick.

It's really that simple. Now, when you're making the moulds,

make sure that these bits here are not too tight together,

because you want the biscuit to spread out when it cooks.

If I lift that up, does that help?

Can you see in there? You want it to fill these bits up here as well.

Finishing touches before it goes into the oven,

take your blueberries and just place them in there.

Like that.

Dead simple. OK, so our oven is now at 190.

We're going to place our tray in.

Don't forget, ovens are hot.

I know that you know this, but you should always use an oven mitt

or an oven glove if you're taking things out of an oven.

And once those bakes have been in there for 10-15 minutes,

they go nice and brown, and then they're ready for eating.

Radzi, Lindsey, you know this bit.

-You can try those ones if you want, just there.

I'm here in Media City, Salford to see behind the scenes of one

of the biggest shows of 2017.

It's Let It Shine.

For the next few months,

Let It Shine is the only place to be on a Saturday night.

The show is on the hunt for a boyband to perform

in a brand-new musical.

And it's fronted by entertainment royalty - Mr Gary Barlow.

So Let It Shine are now midway through filming,

and they've pretty much taken over the studios here.

But we're going to get a sneak peek.

(Don't say anything!)

But Gary isn't alone,

he's joined by all-star judges Martin Kemp,

Amber Riley

and Dannii Minogue

to help whittle down the contestants into a five-piece band.

This is where Gary and the judges will be sat,

casting their opinion on the people they see.

Bake Off's Mel Giedroyc and Graham Norton.

It's all about making a band.

We're making a band who will eventually be in a musical.

But, before they get there,

to make the actual show?

We're looking for great singers, great movers, great performers.

Great acting. And stamina.

And people who can work as a team.

And when you list all those things,

-that's quite a job list, right there.

-Right.

But that's what our contestants need to have.
