Ladies and gentlemen, today's show is about bakes,

7:00:047:00:09

Barlow and big badge news. BELL RINGS

7:00:097:00:13

Er, Radz, what are you wearing?

7:00:137:00:15

A wrestling outfit.

7:00:157:00:17

I think you should get changed.

7:00:177:00:19

Hello and welcome.

7:00:357:00:37

We're so excited because it's the first live Blue Peter of 2017.

7:00:377:00:41

-It's nice to be back.

-A-woo-hoo.

-It's good to be back.

-Nice cuddle.

7:00:417:00:44

Now, there are two very good reasons why I was wearing wrestling Lycra

7:00:447:00:47

earlier and let me just tell you about that because,

7:00:477:00:50

if there's one thing I love, it's wrestling,

7:00:507:00:52

so please make absolute massive amounts of noise for

7:00:527:00:55

WWE announcers Michael Cole and Nigel McGuinness.

7:00:557:00:58

-What's up, guys?

-So good to see you.

-Welcome.

-How are you?

7:01:007:01:03

-Really good, really good.

-Welcome to Blue Peter.

-Look how excited he is.

7:01:037:01:06

I'm excited too.

7:01:067:01:07

This is very, very special for me, I have to say this, by the way.

7:01:077:01:10

Michael, what brings you to the UK?

7:01:107:01:12

This weekend, Saturday and Sunday,

7:01:127:01:14

eight o'clock Greenwich meantime, WWE Network,

7:01:147:01:17

we are crowning the first-ever WWE United Kingdom Champion.

7:01:177:01:22

-But we have breaking news for you guys.

-Go on, go on.

-Exclusive.

7:01:227:01:25

First time ever seen anywhere in the entire world,

7:01:257:01:28

the brand-new United Kingdom Championship.

7:01:287:01:31

There it is, guys.

7:01:317:01:33

As they say in Blue Peter, here's one I made earlier.

7:01:337:01:37

How strong is your grip though, Nigel, cos Radzi is going

7:01:377:01:39

to try and take that from you within this interview, I would imagine.

7:01:397:01:42

-He can try.

-Can I hold it, please?

-Nah-ah-ah!

-OK, fine.

7:01:427:01:45

But you used to be a wrestler. You're now a commentator.

7:01:457:01:48

How was that transition?

7:01:487:01:49

A little bumpy at first, I'll be honest,

7:01:497:01:51

but now it's a dream come true, just like being on Blue Peter.

7:01:517:01:54

-Less bumpy than being in the ring, though, of course.

-Little bit.

7:01:547:01:57

If we can utilise your announcing skills,

7:01:577:01:59

we do have a big announcement

7:01:597:02:00

-that we'd like you to make for us if that's possible.

-Sure.

-Yes.

7:02:007:02:03

-Are you ready?

-Go on, go for it.

7:02:037:02:05

From Salford, United Kingdom, weighing in at 2g...

7:02:057:02:09

The new, recycled blue badge!

7:02:097:02:13

-Have a look at that.

-There he goes.

-What an entrance.

7:02:157:02:19

That's right, that's a man covered in blue badges and the reason

7:02:197:02:22

for this is we are all wearing our brand-new blue badges.

7:02:227:02:26

Now, these are made from recycled plastic. They are so special.

7:02:267:02:29

But do not fear.

7:02:297:02:30

If you've got an old badge, you can still get into

7:02:307:02:33

over 200 attractions across the UK...

7:02:337:02:36

ALL: ..for free.

7:02:367:02:38

All the details you need are on the Blue Peter website.

7:02:387:02:41

-How cool is that? Just like the green badge now.

-It's awesome.

7:02:417:02:44

-Looking good.

-Guys, would you be up for sticking around

7:02:447:02:46

-a little bit later on to do some announcing?

-Of course.

-Of course.

7:02:467:02:49

In which case, over to you lovely lot at home.

7:02:497:02:52

Jump onto the Blue Peter website and tell us what announcement

7:02:527:02:54

you'd like these legends to make. It can be anything. Be creative.

7:02:547:02:58

It really can be absolutely anything.

7:02:587:02:59

So maybe Mum says to you, "Boys, dinner's on the table."

7:02:597:03:02

How would that sound for you to announce it?

7:03:027:03:04

Boys, dinner's on the table!

7:03:047:03:07

While you're there leaving your comments as well,

7:03:077:03:10

don't forget to Spot Shelley.

7:03:107:03:11

You know she will appear somewhere throughout the show.

7:03:117:03:14

All you've got to do is spot her and the first person to get

7:03:147:03:16

in touch wins their own Chihuahua called Chiwee.

7:03:167:03:18

No, that's not right.

7:03:187:03:20

You guys are here which we're so excited about today, we're going

7:03:207:03:23

to play a little game, so let's walk this way for Clash Of The Clips.

7:03:237:03:28

Let's go.

7:03:287:03:30

This is going to be so exciting. Everyone get into your positions.

7:03:307:03:34

It's going to be Barney versus Radzi.

7:03:347:03:36

-Are you guys up for playing?

-Of course.

7:03:367:03:38

Now, Barney and Radzi,

7:03:387:03:39

don't get too excited but I want to show you what you could win today.

7:03:397:03:43

Have a look at this.

7:03:437:03:44

Not only could you be Clash Of The Clips champion...

7:03:447:03:48

-It's Badge Man!

-You could be taking this home. How amazing is that?

7:03:487:03:53

See, I've seen pictures on Radzi's wall of him wearing just a badge.

7:03:537:03:58

-No.

-I'm going to kick us off. You guys are ready, aren't you?

7:03:587:04:01

Absolutely.

7:04:017:04:02

Michael and Nigel, I'm going to be showing you clips from 2016 on

7:04:027:04:06

Blue Peter. All the fun we've been up to.

7:04:067:04:08

Barney and Radzi aren't going to see these clips...

7:04:087:04:10

It's going to be hard, this.

7:04:107:04:11

..so it's going to be up to you to commentate to do your best to

7:04:117:04:14

describe what's going on so that they can each try and win a point.

7:04:147:04:17

Barney, Radz, if you think you know what's going on

7:04:177:04:19

from the descriptions, buzz in as quick as you can but...

7:04:197:04:22

but it's worth saying you've only got one try at this.

7:04:227:04:26

If you get it wrong, it will be passed to the other player.

7:04:267:04:28

Please tell me you understand cos I'm really tired.

7:04:287:04:31

-No, could you say all that again?

-No, I can't.

7:04:317:04:32

I only remember that bit. OK. Are you ready?

7:04:327:04:35

Let's play Clash Of The Clips.

7:04:357:04:38

# Row, row, row your boat

7:04:387:04:39

-# Gently down the stream... #

-BELL RINGS

7:04:397:04:42

-I'm going for the obvious tin bath race.

-Yes, correct.

7:04:427:04:45

Barney, you got a point. OK, next clip.

7:04:457:04:47

People that know you, Nigel, they will understand this because

7:04:487:04:51

this is something that is sort of your second hobby.

7:04:517:04:54

They are wrapping a woman in a red curtain.

7:04:547:04:57

People who don't know me will have no idea at all but, nonetheless,

7:04:577:05:00

-she is lying on a table...

-BELL RINGS

7:05:007:05:04

-BARNEY:

-We had a magician on the show, didn't we,

7:05:047:05:07

who made Lindsey levitate?

7:05:077:05:08

Jamie Raven. Well done. Next clip, let's have a look.

7:05:087:05:12

Now, this I've been looking at all day and I think we're in

7:05:127:05:15

Jurassic Park right now.

7:05:157:05:17

-I mean, this is like...

-BUZZER

7:05:177:05:19

That was the thing where, Barney,

7:05:197:05:20

you went into a special place in Dundee... It had...

7:05:207:05:22

-Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

-No!

-No, Radz, no.

-No!

7:05:227:05:25

There is a big, big, like, spike and a hammer and what is...?

7:05:257:05:29

-Chipping away and we see inside for the first time.

-Any idea, Barney?

7:05:297:05:33

What is it? It's dark, it's calcified, perhaps.

7:05:337:05:36

-There is a fossil.

-Oh, no!

7:05:367:05:38

-It was the excavation of the Mary Rose that Radzi did.

-Well played.

7:05:387:05:42

Next clip, this is awesome.

7:05:427:05:44

Er, why is this woman hanging upside down 100 feet in the air?

7:05:447:05:49

-BUZZER

-Flying through the...

7:05:497:05:51

Surely it's got to be the bungee jump from the triathlon.

7:05:517:05:53

-No!

-No!

7:05:537:05:56

-Keep going, guys.

-Flying through the air.

-Crop-dusting, I believe.

7:05:567:06:00

-Wind through the hair.

-Go on.

7:06:007:06:02

This is the only time Blue Peter presenters have passed

7:06:027:06:04

-the baton in the wing-walking challenge.

-Correct.

7:06:047:06:07

Best day of mine and Radzi's life. OK, next one.

7:06:077:06:10

This is one of the greatest competitions in mankind's history.

7:06:107:06:14

-It takes, well, teamwork, Nigel.

-Teamwork.

7:06:147:06:18

Put your hands together and pull as hard as you can.

7:06:187:06:22

-BUZZER

-Pull!

7:06:227:06:23

Oh, Radzi, have a go.

7:06:237:06:24

-I've lost all my instincts but it's got to be tug-of-war.

-Correct!

-Yes!

7:06:247:06:28

At the end of that... The score is 3-1 to Barney!

7:06:287:06:35

I bet you're happy about that. How are you feeling?

7:06:377:06:39

I genuinely am really happy about that but

7:06:397:06:41

can I just say, because I love him so much, I know that he wants it.

7:06:417:06:44

-You will wear this better than anybody.

-Thank you.

7:06:447:06:46

-Look at his little face.

-He's got the body for it.

7:06:467:06:48

I might have lost but it doesn't matter, I've got the belt!

7:06:487:06:51

How fun was that to see what we got up to on Blue Peter last year?

7:06:517:06:54

-What a year you guys had. I man, it was incredible.

-I know.

7:06:547:06:57

-Going to be watching?

-What a fantastic 2016, 100%, yeah.

7:06:577:07:00

-OK, watch every ep in 2017, please.

-Do you know what...?

-Promise.

7:07:007:07:05

The way we ended 2016 was awesome and it was with something

7:07:057:07:08

very special about the sport badge. Take a look at this.

7:07:087:07:11

Last year, over 10,000 of you applied for a Blue Peter sport badge

7:07:137:07:19

and one of those, Oscar, got to be on the judging panel for

7:07:197:07:22

Young Sports Personality Of The Year.

7:07:227:07:25

I think it might be hard to pick out of the two because you can't

7:07:257:07:27

really let one win because they are both very similar.

7:07:277:07:31

They narrowed down the finalists to a top three.

7:07:317:07:34

A few weeks later the winner was announced.

7:07:347:07:37

Ellie Robinson!

7:07:377:07:39

Congratulations, Ellie.

7:07:407:07:42

She'll be in Birmingham for Sports Personality Of The Year 2016

7:07:427:07:47

and that's exactly where Oscar and I are heading.

7:07:477:07:50

It's just 24 hours until

7:07:507:07:51

one of the biggest dates in the sporting calendar.

7:07:517:07:54

Rehearsals are very much under way and I'm here with Oscar.

7:07:547:07:58

-You all right?

-I am all right and we're going to be finding out

7:07:587:08:01

just what it takes to put on this sporting super-sized spectacular.

7:08:017:08:05

And what are you up to?

7:08:057:08:06

I'll be meeting some massive sporting stars and have

7:08:067:08:09

a go at some of this TV presenting.

7:08:097:08:11

Oscar, you nailed that link.

7:08:117:08:13

I don't see how you make presenting look that hard, Radzi.

7:08:137:08:17

'Cheeky!

7:08:187:08:20

'This arena is huge!

7:08:217:08:23

'It's fascinating to watch every detail of the live show being

7:08:237:08:26

'rehearsed, but Oscar gets to do more than just watch.'

7:08:267:08:30

There he is. Off he goes.

7:08:307:08:32

'He actually gets on stage.'

7:08:327:08:34

Er...thank you...

7:08:347:08:36

world, for this amazing trophy.

7:08:367:08:39

Mate, you've just been on stage,

7:08:397:08:41

you've actually been on the Sports Personality stage and held a trophy.

7:08:417:08:45

It's a very heavy trophy.

7:08:457:08:47

'We know that Oscar one day dreams of becoming a sports broadcaster,

7:08:477:08:51

'so who better to talk to than Clare Balding and Gabby Logan?'

7:08:517:08:56

-You are two of the most top sport presenters.

-Thanks, Oscar.

7:08:567:09:00

Do you have any tips how I can make my way to the top to be like you?

7:09:007:09:03

You have to have a very good short-term memory, actually,

7:09:037:09:06

-to be fair.

-Do you have a good short-term memory?

7:09:067:09:09

-I think so.

-What are our names again?

7:09:097:09:11

-Gabby and Clare.

-No, other way round.

7:09:117:09:13

THEY LAUGH

7:09:137:09:15

You have a great job and what are the coolest things about being

7:09:157:09:20

a sport presenter?

7:09:207:09:22

We're very, very privileged to be in some of those great arenas

7:09:227:09:25

and those great moments and be able to speak to those people in the

7:09:257:09:28

heat of battle. You know, they've just finished their moment

7:09:287:09:31

and we get to stick a microphone

7:09:317:09:32

under their nose and ask them the questions.

7:09:327:09:34

It's like taking an exam in your favourite subject every

7:09:347:09:37

single day and I quite like that.

7:09:377:09:39

Thanks so much for answering all my questions. See you tomorrow, then.

7:09:397:09:42

-Yeah.

-Can I keep this? Do I get to keep this?

7:09:427:09:45

'Of course you do, Gabby.'

7:09:457:09:47

Good evening and welcome to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2016.

7:09:477:09:54

'As the show begins, Oscar and I head backstage to interview some of

7:09:557:09:59

'our sporting heroes and find out

7:09:597:10:02

'what Sports Personality means to them.'

7:10:027:10:04

It's a really special occasion because it celebrates, you know,

7:10:047:10:07

all the fantastic British sport, but also for us as athletes to be

7:10:077:10:10

able to see our other fellow athletes.

7:10:107:10:12

Normally when we go to events, we're all paraded around as the

7:10:127:10:15

Olympian, which is nice, but it's also nice to go to an event and sort

7:10:157:10:18

of feel normal and be surrounded by people in the same job as us.

7:10:187:10:22

Do you have any advice for the people watching out here?

7:10:227:10:26

I think the best piece of advice is to just work incredibly hard

7:10:267:10:29

and be focused on what it is that you want to do.

7:10:297:10:31

It's incredibly difficult to become the best in the world at something,

7:10:317:10:34

but it's all about having that ambition

7:10:347:10:36

and being prepared to work hard.

7:10:367:10:38

'Between them, these guys have won countless medals and championships,

7:10:387:10:42

'but there's one thing they all want to get their hands on.'

7:10:427:10:45

-Do I get a Blue Peter badge?

-Would you want a Blue Peter badge?

7:10:457:10:47

I've always wanted a Blue Peter badge.

7:10:477:10:49

Well, the thing is, you have to do something to earn a badge.

7:10:497:10:52

Have I done NOTHING to earn a badge?

7:10:527:10:54

-We think you've earned your own badge.

-Oh, my...!

7:10:547:10:57

I'm going to cry!

7:10:577:10:58

Thank you so much. Can I give you a hug?

7:10:587:11:01

Oh, bless you.

7:11:017:11:02

I think my two gold medals in two different sports is pretty up there.

7:11:027:11:06

-I think that I'm deserving.

-Hello. There you go.

7:11:067:11:10

I love Blue Peter.

7:11:107:11:13

'Oscar is loving interviewing the stars

7:11:137:11:15

'and he's learning from the best.'

7:11:157:11:17

-You're the perfect man to speak to.

-Why is that?

7:11:177:11:19

Because, Oscar, what do you want to do when you're older?

7:11:197:11:22

Er...I want to be a sport,

7:11:227:11:24

-a sport presenter.

-Do you?

-Yeah.

7:11:247:11:27

Oscar, you're on the wrong side of the carpet.

7:11:277:11:31

Come on.

7:11:317:11:33

Oscar, get in here. There you go. Just like that.

7:11:337:11:36

-Oscar, you are a sports presenter. How does it feel?

-Great.

7:11:367:11:40

'We even spot an absolute sporting legend - Michael Phelps!'

7:11:407:11:46

The greatest Olympic athlete ever in the history of the world. Ever.

7:11:467:11:50

Think of an Olympian, he's greater than him.

7:11:507:11:53

Phelps receives the Lifetime Achievement award from

7:11:557:11:57

His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge.

7:11:577:11:59

Many, many congratulations and hopefully your retirement

7:11:597:12:03

-gives someone else a chance now.

-LAUGHTER

7:12:037:12:05

Thank you.

7:12:057:12:06

And Young Sports Personality Ellie gets her moment in the spotlight.

7:12:067:12:11

It's really surprising to win this award,

7:12:117:12:13

especially because I was up against some amazing athletes on the way.

7:12:137:12:17

Just thank you to everyone that's played

7:12:177:12:19

a part in my swimming and just helped me to win this.

7:12:197:12:22

Then all that's left is to reveal the night's big winner.

7:12:227:12:25

And the BBC sports personality of the year 2016 is Andy Murray.

7:12:257:12:31

An incredible end to 2016 for world number one Andy Murray.

7:12:317:12:35

It's been an amazing year for British sport and I'm very proud

7:12:357:12:38

to be a part of it, so thank you and I hope you all have a great night.

7:12:387:12:41

'And the perfect end to what has been

7:12:417:12:44

'an unbelievable experience for Oscar.

7:12:447:12:46

'I'm sure this won't be the last time he rubs shoulders with

7:12:467:12:49

'sporting superstars.' High five.

7:12:497:12:52

'And it just goes to show you never know where applying for

7:12:527:12:55

'a Blue Peter badge can take you.'

7:12:557:12:57

And that's a wrap.

7:12:577:12:59

What an award show,

7:13:017:13:02

what a performance from Oscar and what a way to finish 2016 and

7:13:027:13:05

if you're thinking 2017 can't be any better, well, check this out.

7:13:057:13:11

This year, Blue Peter is going to be bigger than ever. How big?

7:13:137:13:19

How about a competition involving the year's biggest sporting

7:13:197:13:23

event and two incredible judges?

7:13:237:13:26

Or an epic joke challenge with the help from one of the biggest

7:13:267:13:29

comedians on the planet?

7:13:297:13:31

Have you ever heard the one about

7:13:317:13:32

the manager who's got an orange for a head?

7:13:327:13:35

'There'll be sporting icons...'

7:13:357:13:37

That was just a practice shot.

7:13:377:13:39

'..food...'

7:13:397:13:40

-Let's do this!

-'..showbiz, more of you.

7:13:407:13:43

-'There'll even be Gary Barlow!'

-RADZI DOES VOCAL EXERCISE

7:13:437:13:48

Very good.

7:13:487:13:49

And trust me, that's just the start of it.

7:13:527:13:55

-So much to look forward to in 2017.

-I'm excited.

7:13:567:14:00

Just like this very special Red Nose Day competition,

7:14:007:14:03

-which you can already take part in.

-That's right.

7:14:037:14:06

We want you to come up with three hilarious, rib-tickling jokes.

7:14:067:14:10

-RADZI LAUGHS

-Is that a rib tickle?

7:14:107:14:12

That wasn't rib-tickling. They've got to be up to you.

7:14:127:14:14

You've got to make us LOL and we've got three very special judges,

7:14:147:14:18

two of them include Miranda Hart, the amazing comedian,

7:14:187:14:20

as well as creator of Comic Relief Richard Curtis.

7:14:207:14:24

How great are those two?

7:14:247:14:25

What a leg-end that man is.

7:14:257:14:26

If you want to get involved, head to the BBC website

7:14:267:14:29

to download an application form.

7:14:297:14:30

The competition winner will have the chance to have their joke

7:14:307:14:33

-read out on a Red Nose Day Blue Peter special.

-Cool.

-It's so cool.

7:14:337:14:36

Head to the website and download this application form if you

7:14:367:14:39

want to be involved. Make us LOL as Lindsey would say.

7:14:397:14:41

Or you can make it really easy for yourself and tell a teacher,

7:14:417:14:44

so they can apply for this pack right here and that way your

7:14:447:14:47

-whole class can get involved.

-That's awesome. Do you know what, guys?

7:14:477:14:50

-I absolutely love a competition.

-Do you?

-Do you know what I love more?

7:14:507:14:53

-Go on.

-This week's big badge wall.

-Nice, Linds.

7:14:537:14:56

-How good was that link?

-It was OK.

7:14:567:14:58

We're joined by Nigel and Michael again. Guys, can you do the honours?

7:14:587:15:02

Use your amazing voices to explain this week's big badge wall.

7:15:027:15:05

I found Shelley, so I get a prize, right? Look at this.

7:15:057:15:09

This is incredible, isn't it?

7:15:097:15:11

Beautiful Blue Peter ship there, sailing off into the distance.

7:15:117:15:14

Very well drawn.

7:15:147:15:15

And there's Shelley once again and I love on the left-hand side,

7:15:157:15:18

look at the two kids that look like they have UFO eyes. They're aliens.

7:15:187:15:22

-Yeah.

-That's you two looking at your best there.

-Yeah, it really is.

7:15:227:15:26

Well, I've got to draw some attention to Malik from Dewsbury,

7:15:267:15:29

-who's made this incredible picture, using cubism, of Lindsey.

-Whoa.

7:15:297:15:32

No idea how you've done it, Malik, but you are, I think, a genius.

7:15:327:15:35

Very clever.

7:15:357:15:36

Barney, would you like to model the next bit of post, please?

7:15:367:15:38

-I would love to, darling.

-This is from Mary from Gloucestershire.

7:15:387:15:41

-Look at the talent and the time that's gone into this.

-Yes.

7:15:417:15:44

She's sewed together a little apron for Barney Harwood here.

7:15:447:15:46

-How perfect is that?

-It's great.

7:15:467:15:48

-I've got a little pouch for my joey as well.

-Yeah.

7:15:487:15:50

If I was a kangaroo, that is. OK. Good.

7:15:507:15:53

Boys, what do you think the recycled Blue Peter badges are made out of?

7:15:537:15:56

-I know. Shark teeth.

-It's not shark teeth, no. Any ideas?

7:15:567:15:59

-I was going to go with baby teeth.

-It's not baby teeth either.

7:15:597:16:02

They're easy to collect, aren't they? No, it's actually yoghurt pots

7:16:027:16:05

mostly, which gave me a bit of inspiration for this week's

7:16:057:16:07

Blue Peter make. Take a look at these.

7:16:077:16:09

-How good are they?

-Look at those.

-They're called Blue Peter bakes.

7:16:097:16:12

They're designed around the badge and they're called bakes -

7:16:127:16:14

-not quite biscuits and not quite cakes.

-Nice.

7:16:147:16:17

-Did you come up with that?

-No, they did, I'm just saying it and

7:16:177:16:19

making myself look like I know what I'm doing.

7:16:197:16:21

So obviously you've got the main ingredients in there which

7:16:217:16:23

-are very important, Radzi, which would be...

-Yoghurt pots.

-Not quite.

7:16:237:16:26

Yoghurt. If you follow me over here, I'll show you how to make them.

7:16:267:16:29

They're really simple. Take a look at the ingredient list.

7:16:297:16:31

These are all the things that you're going to need.

7:16:317:16:34

Plain flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda,

7:16:347:16:36

pinch of salt, caster sugar, egg white, 200g of yoghurt,

7:16:367:16:38

zest from one lemon, vanilla extract,

7:16:387:16:40

blueberries, fresh or frozen -

7:16:407:16:42

it don't really matter, mate - and kitchen foil.

7:16:427:16:44

I'm whizzing through this to show you,

7:16:447:16:46

but you can go to the Blue Peter website and find

7:16:467:16:48

everything that you need on there. So first things first,

7:16:487:16:50

we're going to do our dry mix and when

7:16:507:16:52

we're putting our dry mix in the oven... In the oven?

7:16:527:16:55

In a bowl, we need to make sure that our oven is at 190,

7:16:557:16:57

that's the temperature these are going to cook in.

7:16:577:17:00

So that's our flour, our bicarb of soda,

7:17:007:17:03

our baking powder and our salt. Dry mix done, it's that easy.

7:17:037:17:06

Put it over to one side. Now we're going to do our wet mix.

7:17:067:17:10

Now we need an egg white, which means we need to get the yolk

7:17:107:17:12

out of the white and at the moment, they're both in the same shell.

7:17:127:17:15

So what we do is we give it a little crack on one bowl and then very,

7:17:157:17:18

very gently, you want to make sure the bigger half is at the bottom

7:17:187:17:21

and you can see there the egg white just flying out, but the yolk isn't.

7:17:217:17:24

What you want to do is just gently juggle the yolk from one shell

7:17:247:17:27

to the other and as you're doing that,

7:17:277:17:29

the white will fall out into the bowl below.

7:17:297:17:32

Now, don't throw the yolk away, you might need to use that for

7:17:327:17:34

a cake if you're making one later on, but don't waste food.

7:17:347:17:37

OK, now we need to get a towel and wipe my whitey fingers.

7:17:377:17:41

And then whisk the egg white in a bowl.

7:17:417:17:43

It doesn't need to be too whisked, we're not making a meringue here,

7:17:437:17:46

we're just making a nice frothy, bubbly mess.

7:17:467:17:48

That'll do nicely and then we add everything else.

7:17:487:17:50

We've got our sugar.

7:17:507:17:52

We've got half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, or a little bit more

7:17:527:17:56

if your name is Barney Harwood, because you know you like vanilla.

7:17:567:17:59

Lemon zest, in it goes, and then we're going to chuck in our yoghurt.

7:17:597:18:04

Honestly, I know I talk about this every time I do a make,

7:18:047:18:08

but I really wish we had smelly vision.

7:18:087:18:09

We've got to get someone to work on that, it smells so good, this.

7:18:097:18:12

Then what we do is give it a good old whisk.

7:18:127:18:14

That's our wet mix.

7:18:147:18:16

And then we're going to put our dry into our wet.

7:18:187:18:21

Don't put the wet into the dry, because it'll go all lumpy

7:18:217:18:23

and nobody wants that in their life.

7:18:237:18:25

OK. Good old whisk.

7:18:257:18:27

And once you've done that for about nine years, it looks like this.

7:18:297:18:35

Now, you're after a really big, sticky, gloopy mess.

7:18:357:18:37

It's supposed to look like that and then once you've got your mix,

7:18:377:18:40

you want to put it into your Blue Peter badge-shaped moulds.

7:18:407:18:43

Now, you can't buy those, but this is Blue Peter.

7:18:437:18:45

We can make them and if you head online to where you found the

7:18:457:18:48

ingredients, you'll see a masterclass.

7:18:487:18:50

It's basically me folding tinfoil to show you how to make those shapes.

7:18:507:18:53

It's very easy to do and, of course, you have to do that before

7:18:537:18:55

you do the next step, which is to put our mex, our MIX

7:18:557:18:59

inside our moulds.

7:18:597:19:01

So you want one heaped teaspoon.

7:19:017:19:04

One teaspoon isn't enough, by the way. You need to have two teaspoons

7:19:047:19:07

to do this and make sure it's really heaped. OK.

7:19:077:19:10

See, I'm an expert at this, aren't I? OK. Good.

7:19:107:19:15

There we go, right in the middle.

7:19:157:19:17

Now, before this, I've buttered the sides of the moulds, because

7:19:177:19:20

we don't want our bake to stick.

7:19:207:19:22

It's really that simple. Now, when you're making the moulds,

7:19:227:19:24

make sure that these bits here are not too tight together,

7:19:247:19:27

because you want the biscuit to spread out when it cooks.

7:19:277:19:29

If I lift that up, does that help?

7:19:297:19:30

Can you see in there? You want it to fill these bits up here as well.

7:19:307:19:33

Finishing touches before it goes into the oven,

7:19:337:19:35

take your blueberries and just place them in there.

7:19:357:19:39

Like that.

7:19:397:19:40

Dead simple. OK, so our oven is now at 190.

7:19:407:19:44

We're going to place our tray in.

7:19:447:19:46

Don't forget, ovens are hot.

7:19:467:19:48

I know that you know this, but you should always use an oven mitt

7:19:487:19:51

or an oven glove if you're taking things out of an oven.

7:19:517:19:54

And once those bakes have been in there for 10-15 minutes,

7:19:547:19:56

they go nice and brown, and then they're ready for eating.

7:19:567:19:59

Radzi, Lindsey, you know this bit.

7:19:597:20:01

-You can try those ones if you want, just there.

-They look nice, OK.

7:20:017:20:05

All the ingredients and everything you need is on the

7:20:057:20:07

-Blue Peter website, go and check it out, it's that easy.

-Yummy.

7:20:077:20:09

-They're nice, aren't they?

-They're nice!

7:20:097:20:12

-I found those out the back this morning.

-I have a question.

7:20:127:20:14

Don't talk with your mouth full.

7:20:147:20:16

I'm sorry, my mum would be disgraced at my behaviour.

7:20:167:20:19

OK, did you watch the BBC One show Let It Shine at the weekend?

7:20:197:20:21

-Mmm-hmm.

-I went and met Gary Barlow, didn't I?

-Oh, really?

7:20:217:20:25

-Did a Blue Peter film. Auditioned for Gary Barlow and everything.

-OK.

7:20:257:20:28

Let's have a look at this. Finish your mouthful. Swallow it.

7:20:287:20:31

I'm here in Media City, Salford to see behind the scenes of one

7:20:337:20:36

of the biggest shows of 2017.

7:20:367:20:40

It's Let It Shine.

7:20:407:20:42

For the next few months,

7:20:427:20:43

Let It Shine is the only place to be on a Saturday night.

7:20:437:20:47

The show is on the hunt for a boyband to perform

7:20:477:20:50

in a brand-new musical.

7:20:507:20:52

And it's fronted by entertainment royalty - Mr Gary Barlow.

7:20:527:20:57

So Let It Shine are now midway through filming,

7:21:007:21:02

and they've pretty much taken over the studios here.

7:21:027:21:05

But we're going to get a sneak peek.

7:21:057:21:07

(Don't say anything!)

7:21:107:21:12

But Gary isn't alone,

7:21:127:21:13

he's joined by all-star judges Martin Kemp,

7:21:137:21:17

Amber Riley

7:21:177:21:19

and Dannii Minogue

7:21:197:21:20

to help whittle down the contestants into a five-piece band.

7:21:207:21:24

This is where Gary and the judges will be sat,

7:21:247:21:27

casting their opinion on the people they see.

7:21:277:21:30

And it's all presented by

7:21:307:21:31

Bake Off's Mel Giedroyc and Graham Norton.

7:21:317:21:34

I completely don't remember what you asked me!

7:21:367:21:40

It's the same old thing - he sang, what do you think?

7:21:407:21:43

LAUGHTER

7:21:437:21:44

It's got me thinking...judges,

7:21:447:21:46

a talent show,

7:21:467:21:48

boyband?

7:21:487:21:50

I wonder if I've got what it takes?

7:21:507:21:53

I hope I have.

7:21:537:21:54

They don't call me the Wolverhampton Warbler for nothing.

7:21:567:22:00

If I'm going to meet Gary Barlow,

7:22:007:22:02

I want to show him some of my singing skills.

7:22:027:22:05

Who knows - maybe he could pick me for the Let It Shine band?

7:22:057:22:09

-HIGH PITCHED:

-# Tra-la-la-la-la!

7:22:137:22:14

-LOW PITCHED:

-# Low, low, low, low, low. #

7:22:147:22:18

Come on, Radzi. Come on, Radzi.

7:22:187:22:21

Think Gary Barlow.

7:22:217:22:23

See Gary Barlow.

7:22:237:22:25

Be Gary Barlow.

7:22:257:22:27

I don't know if I can do this.

7:22:277:22:29

-Are you OK? You seem a bit down.

-I am down, Graham.

7:22:297:22:31

I don't think I can do this. I can't impress Gary Barlow.

7:22:317:22:34

Don't forget, you have a number one single under your belt.

7:22:347:22:38

Children In Need, two years ago.

7:22:387:22:41

Mel's right! I do have a number one single.

7:22:427:22:45

In a way.

7:22:457:22:46

Have a word with yourself, young man. What is that?

7:22:467:22:49

-That is a Blue Peter badge, and that is a passport to greatness.

-It is!

7:22:497:22:53

Greatness.

7:22:537:22:54

Gary Barlow. I can do this!

7:22:547:22:55

-You can!

-OK!

7:22:557:22:57

Bring it on!

7:22:577:22:59

-Hasn't a hope.

-Gary Barlow's going to be absolutely foul, isn't he?

7:22:597:23:02

-Hate him, hate him!

-Awful, awful.

7:23:027:23:05

It's now or never, Radzi.

7:23:057:23:07

He might have sold over 50 million records, but has one of the

7:23:077:23:12

most famous men in British pop music ever heard anything like me before?

7:23:127:23:17

OK, this is it, I'm going to meet the Barlow,

7:23:177:23:21

-and I'm going to sing to him. Gary, hi!

-How you doing?

7:23:217:23:24

-# Lovely to meet you... #

-Great, great.

7:23:247:23:26

# Because we are here... #

7:23:267:23:28

-Just having a bit of quiet time in here.

-# Yes... #

7:23:287:23:30

-Shall we just do an interview?

-OK then.

7:23:307:23:33

Yeah, that probably could have gone better.

7:23:337:23:36

Maybe I've not got what it takes to be on the show.

7:23:367:23:38

But Gary is more than happy to help me work on my voice.

7:23:387:23:42

If ever you're up early, and you've got that low voice thing, you know?

7:23:427:23:47

Brrrrrrroooo!

7:23:477:23:49

Go as high as you can, do that. Now.

7:23:497:23:51

Brrrrrrroooo!

7:23:517:23:52

Very good!

7:23:527:23:53

And again.

7:23:537:23:54

Brrrrrrroooo!

7:23:547:23:56

Brrrrrrroooo!

7:23:567:23:58

It really warms your voice up.

7:23:587:24:00

So, Let It Shine, what's it all about?

7:24:007:24:02

It's all about making a band.

7:24:027:24:04

We're making a band who will eventually be in a musical.

7:24:047:24:07

But, before they get there,

7:24:077:24:09

they're going to be competing against other bands in our show.

7:24:097:24:12

And what are you looking for with those bands,

7:24:127:24:14

to make the actual show?

7:24:147:24:15

We're looking for great singers, great movers, great performers.

7:24:157:24:20

Great acting. And stamina.

7:24:217:24:24

And people who can work as a team.

7:24:247:24:26

And when you list all those things,

7:24:267:24:28

-that's quite a job list, right there.

-Right.

7:24:287:24:31

But that's what our contestants need to have.

7:24:317:24:33

# I got the eye of the tiger

7:24:337:24:36

# A fighter, dancing through the fire

7:24:367:24:40

# And I am a champion

7:24:407:24:42

# And you're going to hear me... #

7:24:427:24:44

Are there any other things that people at home should tune in for?

7:24:447:24:48

The main thing, obviously, because I'm on it.

7:24:487:24:51

But, other than that...

7:24:517:24:53

We do have an amazing judge line-up.

7:24:537:24:55

We've got Dannii, we've got Martin Kemp,

7:24:557:24:57

we've have a whole selection of guest judges as well,

7:24:577:25:01

and guests on our show.

7:25:017:25:02

You've got me very excited for it. Gary, thank you very much.

7:25:027:25:05

You're very welcome, very welcome.

7:25:057:25:07

What a special TV series.

7:25:107:25:12

Well, how about a TV series special?

7:25:127:25:15

Do you see what I did there?

7:25:157:25:16

Match Of The Day Kickabout have done just that

7:25:167:25:18

in the form of the world's best footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo.

7:25:187:25:22

If you like him, you're going to love this.

7:25:227:25:25

This is Santo Antonio, and this is where the story starts.

7:25:257:25:29

John, it's amazing!

7:25:297:25:31

Chance for Cristiano Ronaldo!

7:25:317:25:34

This is where Ronaldo first kicked off his football career.

7:25:347:25:37

It's been inspiring, it's been amazing.

7:25:377:25:41

It really will be special.

7:25:447:25:45

Make sure you watch that at 7:45 on Saturday morning.

7:25:457:25:49

-Stop it!

-Now, Cristiano Ron-ah-oh...

7:25:497:25:51

-What's his name, sorry?

-I don't know what his name is.

7:25:517:25:53

It's a number of vowels.

7:25:537:25:54

Cristiano Ronaldo might be one of the greatest footballers of

7:25:547:25:57

all time, but John Farnworth, essentially is,

7:25:577:26:00

in football freestyling.

7:26:007:26:01

And if you jump onto the website, you can see him

7:26:017:26:03

showing you how you...he... Do you know what?

7:26:037:26:06

Blimey O'Reilly! Just go onto the website, essentially.

7:26:067:26:09

Right, listen up, everyone, it's time to focus,

7:26:097:26:11

because earlier in the show we asked you to get in touch with us,

7:26:117:26:14

and let us know what you would like these legends to read out.

7:26:147:26:17

We said it could be anything.

7:26:177:26:18

Guys, have we got some good ones there?

7:26:187:26:20

Beige Athletic Bear -

7:26:207:26:21

"I like to dress up as an Egyptian mummy and do ballroom dancing!"

7:26:217:26:26

Yes!

7:26:267:26:27

-Nice!

-Amazing!

7:26:277:26:29

And this is from Sebbo -

7:26:297:26:30

"I want a custard pie in my face!"

7:26:307:26:35

Beautiful. How about Pink Sparkly Football -

7:26:357:26:38

"I wish I could fly in the sky and eat a pie,

7:26:387:26:41

"wearing a yellow-and-blue striped tie!"

7:26:417:26:44

-Yeah, a poem!

-You guys are so good at this. Carry on, please!

7:26:447:26:48

This is from Amethyst Bright Starfruit -

7:26:487:26:52

"I wish I was a pink fairy made of glitter."

7:26:527:26:55

LAUGHTER

7:26:557:26:57

-BARNEY:

-That would go down so well in a wrestling ring.

7:26:577:27:01

Can we get just a copy of that clip? That's perfect.

7:27:017:27:04

Let's do Spot Shelley, shall we?

7:27:047:27:05

Because, for the first time ever, nobody has spotted Shelley.

7:27:057:27:09

Now, a lot of people have said she was on the badge wall.

7:27:097:27:11

That was what Michael said, but that wasn't the real Shelley.

7:27:117:27:14

Shelley was actually right here, on Nigel's headset.

7:27:147:27:17

Look how small she is! In fairness, she is really tiny.

7:27:177:27:20

For once, I think we won Spot Shelley, that means.

7:27:207:27:23

-That means we've got the prizes!

-Yay!

7:27:237:27:25

Don't leave me hanging on live TV.

7:27:257:27:27

-Thank you very much...

-I'll give you a high one.

-Thanks, Barn.

7:27:277:27:29

That's just about all we have time for today,

7:27:297:27:31

but make sure you're jumping straight onto the fan club

7:27:317:27:34

as soon as the show's over with Michael and Nigel and ask them any

7:27:347:27:36

wrestling questions your heart desires.

7:27:367:27:38

-Guys, do you know what a listicle is?

-No, Linz.

7:27:387:27:41

Me neither, but we've got one online,

7:27:417:27:42

telling you all about the things that happen in January.

7:27:427:27:45

-So go and add to it.

-Next week is a purple badge show,

7:27:457:27:47

which means you've requested everything on the show,

7:27:477:27:50

including Hollywood animation and The Vamps.

7:27:507:27:52

You're going to love it, see you then. Boys, give us a wave.

7:27:527:27:54

-See you then!

-Bye-bye!

-Bye-bye!
