7:02:437:02:45

-Hello!

-Hello!

-And welcome to live Blue Peter.

7:02:457:02:49

Radz, I know I'm a good dancer.

7:02:497:02:50

I've actually come up with another move.

7:02:507:02:52

-Have you?

-Yeah, I think you'll like it.

7:02:527:02:54

-Let's see.

-It's called the Lindsey Jolly dance.

7:02:547:02:56

-It goes something like this.

-Sounds familiar.

7:02:567:02:58

It's good, isn't it? It's all mine. Thought it was fantastic.

7:02:597:03:03

Let's start the show, shall we?

7:03:037:03:05

We've got singer-songwriter superstar

7:03:057:03:07

Gavin James, who will be performing live in this very studio.

7:03:077:03:10

-Oh - everybody's very excited today, which I like.

-Woo!

7:03:107:03:14

See what happened when Barney took on a challenge that took skill,

7:03:147:03:17

determination and the will to win.

7:03:177:03:19

Of course, I'm talking about the World Pasty Championships.

7:03:197:03:22

-That's a real thing.

-It's a real thing.

7:03:227:03:24

You notice that Barney is not here.

7:03:247:03:26

However, he'll be back in two weeks.

7:03:267:03:28

Cannot wait for that, but somebody who is here...it's Shelley.

7:03:287:03:32

-Hi, Shells.

-Can you spot her?

7:03:327:03:33

Keep your eyes peeled throughout the show.

7:03:337:03:35

There she is. She gone.

7:03:357:03:36

She really is gone.

7:03:367:03:39

I've got a question for you.

7:03:397:03:40

Do you know the difference between an air flare and top rock?

7:03:407:03:44

-No.

-No, me neither.

7:03:447:03:45

I have no idea what I'm talking about.

7:03:457:03:47

These guys, luckily, do. Take it away!

7:03:477:03:49

Yeah!

7:05:247:05:26

Oh, my goodness!

7:05:267:05:28

Everyone is thinking it - "How? Wow!"

7:05:287:05:31

-Unbelievable.

-You've really shown me up, guys.

7:05:317:05:33

I thought I was doing all right in the opening titles.

7:05:337:05:35

Brooke, Roxy, Sunni, thank you so much for joining us.

7:05:357:05:38

Sunni, I'll start with yourself. I know you are very out of breath.

7:05:387:05:40

It's a very important time for you guys, right now.

7:05:407:05:43

Yeah, we actually a month away from the UK B-Boy Championships.

7:05:437:05:46

It's one of the biggest championships in the world

7:05:467:05:49

for break dancing, popping, locking...

7:05:497:05:51

So it's on April 9th.

7:05:517:05:52

I love that you checked your watch, that you're not wearing!

7:05:527:05:55

-LAUGHING:

-Yeah! April 9th.

7:05:557:05:56

We've got just under a month.

7:05:567:05:58

That's the worlds - you're familiar with the World Championships.

7:05:587:06:01

Yeah, I'm the current solo b-boy champ.

7:06:017:06:03

Round of applause! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:06:037:06:05

-Awesome.

-That's ridiculous.

7:06:057:06:06

Roxy, you've actually got a world record - is that correct?

7:06:067:06:09

Yeah. I hold the record for most head spins in a minute.

7:06:097:06:12

We've got to see that - would you mind showing us?

7:06:127:06:14

-Yeah.

-OK. do it. I'm very excited.

7:06:147:06:17

Don't try this at home, by the way.

7:06:177:06:19

Unless your name is Roxy...

7:06:197:06:20

-Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. She's off.

-No!

-There she goes.

7:06:207:06:23

No...

7:06:237:06:25

LINDSEY SCREAMS

7:06:257:06:26

WHOOPING

7:06:297:06:31

Whoa!

7:06:317:06:34

-Look at that!

-Oh, wow!

-Incredible.

-Just like it's no big deal.

7:06:347:06:38

-Do you need a sick bucket? Are you OK?

-I'm fine.

7:06:387:06:41

Sunni, question - you mentioned B-Boy Championships.

7:06:417:06:43

What actually is a b-boy?

7:06:437:06:45

-B-boying...

-Mic, Linz.

-Oh, sorry.

7:06:457:06:47

-It's more commonly known as break dancing.

-OK.

7:06:477:06:50

And Brooke, you do something slightly different to them.

7:06:507:06:53

-Yeah, popping.

-Popping?

7:06:537:06:55

-Can we see some popping?

-Of course.

7:06:557:06:57

Boom! Pow! Boom! Boom! Boom!

7:06:577:07:00

Wow...yeah!

7:07:007:07:02

Do you have to make that noise when you do it?

7:07:027:07:04

-It makes it look better.

-I'll remember that!

7:07:047:07:06

I've heard you talk about a thing called locking.

7:07:067:07:08

First of all, what actually is that?

7:07:087:07:10

Locking...

7:07:107:07:11

-A lock is another word for a stop.

-OK.

7:07:117:07:13

Yeah, so locking is locks, rolls, points...jumps...

7:07:137:07:18

-Wow...

-Look at that.

-Oh, my goodness.

7:07:187:07:20

And what's the key to a good lock?

7:07:207:07:22

Strength, power, funkiness.

7:07:227:07:24

-I like it.

-Being on the music.

7:07:247:07:26

All words that we do not possess. However, we'd love to give it a go.

7:07:267:07:29

Speak for yourself, Radzi Chinyanganya!

7:07:297:07:31

Wait till you see this.

7:07:317:07:32

It's Blue Peter, we love having a go.

7:07:327:07:34

Do you think, if I give you the mic, and you can commentate,

7:07:347:07:36

you can teach Radz a move?

7:07:367:07:37

-He needs the help.

-We can.

-As you saw, I'm the pro.

7:07:377:07:40

-Off you go, Radz.

-Bold, from Russell.

7:07:407:07:41

-OK. So, Sunni is going to show you a knee drop.

-OK.

7:07:417:07:45

-Oh, oh...

-Uh! Uh!

7:07:457:07:47

-Nothing to it.

-Simple, simple.

7:07:477:07:49

So, you're going to start with your left leg out.

7:07:497:07:51

-Yes.

-Then you're going to switch it, so your right leg comes up,

7:07:517:07:54

and then your right leg goes behind your knee,

7:07:547:07:57

and then goes onto the floor, so your foot is on the floor.

7:07:577:07:59

-Careful, Radz.

-Spin around.

-OK, spin around.

7:07:597:08:01

And then you pose - uh!

7:08:017:08:03

Oh! Oh! Oh!

7:08:037:08:04

We're not done yet.

7:08:047:08:06

-Not done yet? OK.

-Right, so, we're going to do the same thing again,

7:08:067:08:09

but this time, no hands on the floor.

7:08:097:08:10

-No hands. OK, fine.

-So, left leg out.

7:08:107:08:12

-Yeah.

-Switch legs.

7:08:127:08:13

-Yeah.

-Knee behind. Down.

7:08:137:08:15

Go, go, go! Spin, spin!

7:08:157:08:17

Uh!

7:08:177:08:18

CHEERING Hey!

7:08:187:08:21

Shall we try a quick move? Haven't got long, but let's do it.

7:08:217:08:24

It's going to be a bit better than theirs, don't worry.

7:08:247:08:26

-I like that.

-Have you ever seen Thunderbirds?

7:08:267:08:28

-Yeah.

-Yes.

7:08:287:08:29

-Puppet, right?

-OK.

-So, we're going to lift our arm,

7:08:297:08:33

-pretend there's a string on your wrist...

-Yeah.

7:08:337:08:35

-Other arm.

-Yeah.

7:08:357:08:36

Then collapse our knees, then collapse our heads.

7:08:367:08:38

-Boing!

-No!

-Oh, wow.

7:08:387:08:40

I feel...kind of cool.

7:08:407:08:42

-Left, knees, head.

-OK, let's put it together.

7:08:427:08:44

Five, six, seven, eight.

7:08:447:08:45

Boom! Boom! Boom!

7:08:457:08:48

LAUGHING: Yeah!

7:08:487:08:50

That was great. Thank you. Thank you for being with us.

7:08:507:08:53

Well, Brooke, Roxy, Sunni, thank you so much for joining us,

7:08:537:08:56

and good luck in the championships.

7:08:567:08:58

-We showed ourselves up there a bit, didn't we?

-Yep.

-But fear not.

7:08:587:09:01

Look no further than the World Pasty Championships.

7:09:017:09:04

-That's our next calling.

-What?

-Have a look.

7:09:047:09:07

This is the Eden Project,

7:09:087:09:10

home to one of the world's largest indoor rainforests.

7:09:107:09:13

It is quite simply stunning.

7:09:137:09:15

Even the Latin names for these plants are incredible and beautiful.

7:09:157:09:18

Look at this - Simmondsia chinensis.

7:09:187:09:20

It just sounds beautiful, doesn't it?

7:09:207:09:22

But if you want to see something really exotic, take a look at this.

7:09:227:09:25

This is...

7:09:257:09:27

The Cornishius pastius.

7:09:277:09:29

That's the real reason we're here today.

7:09:297:09:31

Oh, yes, because I'm not here to see the stunning plantlife.

7:09:337:09:36

Oh, no - I'm here because this place also hosts

7:09:367:09:39

the World Pasty Championships,

7:09:397:09:40

and this year, they have a new challenger.

7:09:407:09:43

Me.

7:09:437:09:45

I'm going to be entering the competition

7:09:457:09:48

and trying to create a prize-winning Cornish pasty,

7:09:487:09:50

but I don't know the first thing about making these famous treats.

7:09:507:09:54

Luckily, though, Jake, Naomi and last year's junior champ Jack do.

7:09:547:09:58

Let's talk about what makes the perfect pasty.

7:09:587:10:00

Jack, what do you think?

7:10:007:10:01

Well, you need to have fresh, home-grown ingredients, if you can.

7:10:017:10:05

But they need to be, like, perfect.

7:10:057:10:08

Use good ingredients in your pasty - OK.

7:10:087:10:10

Then Jake, what would you say?

7:10:107:10:11

Well, you've got to make sure it tastes good and not just looks good.

7:10:117:10:16

These guys take this seriously - but who can blame them?

7:10:167:10:19

The iconic Cornish pasty is a little piece of history.

7:10:197:10:21

They were created hundreds of years ago

7:10:217:10:23

for those working underground in the mines of Cornwall.

7:10:237:10:26

Their unusual crimped crust gave the miners something to hold on to,

7:10:267:10:30

without getting their lunch dirty.

7:10:307:10:32

Well, I think it's time to get cracking,

7:10:337:10:35

so I get some pastry - here's one I made earlier...

7:10:357:10:38

-Doesn't look like a Cornish pasty, yet, does it?

-No.

7:10:397:10:42

You need to roll it to about 25 to 30 centimetres.

7:10:427:10:47

What sort of shape am I going for, here?

7:10:477:10:48

-A circle.

-A circle. OK.

7:10:487:10:51

For the filling, in goes potato, swede, onion, beef

7:10:517:10:55

and Jack's special secret ingredient -

7:10:557:10:57

clotted cream.

7:10:577:10:59

Wait - what?

7:10:597:11:00

What the clotted cream does

7:11:007:11:02

is it makes a sort of gravy in the pasty.

7:11:027:11:04

I'll have to trust you on this one, Jack.

7:11:047:11:07

The ingredients are then placed onto the rolled pastry,

7:11:077:11:09

which is folded, ready for crimping.

7:11:097:11:12

You have to start from the right side,

7:11:127:11:15

and then keeping on folding in a triangle, like that.

7:11:157:11:20

It's this folding of the edge, called crimping,

7:11:207:11:23

that seals the filling in and makes the pasty unique.

7:11:237:11:26

Wow - that my first-ever pasty.

7:11:267:11:28

-Can't eat it now, though, can we?

-No. We need to put it in the oven.

7:11:287:11:31

55 minutes in the oven and that's my traditional Cornish entry done.

7:11:317:11:35

I'd also entered into the Open Savoury category.

7:11:357:11:38

That means I can make another pasty,

7:11:387:11:40

which gives me another shot to win the competition,

7:11:407:11:42

and, also, I don't have to do the traditional food inside it.

7:11:427:11:44

I can make anything I want.

7:11:447:11:46

So, I'm going to make steak and blue cheese,

7:11:467:11:48

which is a match made in heaven.

7:11:487:11:49

So, I'm adding blue cheese to your classic recipe...

7:11:497:11:53

..and a cheeky BP badge on top, obvs.

7:11:547:11:57

Next stop, competition time.

7:11:577:12:00

There are literally hundreds of pasties here,

7:12:037:12:06

and the competition is tough.

7:12:067:12:08

When I come to submit my crimped creations,

7:12:087:12:10

I realise the rules on entering are even tougher.

7:12:107:12:13

OK, so, for the Cornish pasty,

7:12:137:12:15

are you a professional baker or cook?

7:12:157:12:17

-No.

-Does it have beef, potato, onion or swedes?

7:12:177:12:20

-Yes.

-Perfect. Is it side-crimped?

7:12:207:12:22

-Yes.

-Is it made in Cornwall?

7:12:227:12:24

-Yes.

-OK, perfect. So, you've passed that one.

7:12:247:12:26

-Brilliant. Thank you very much.

-Thank you.

-This is exciting.

7:12:267:12:29

Jake, Naomi and Jack also get their entries in,

7:12:297:12:32

meaning all that's left is for me to pop mine on display.

7:12:327:12:35

There you go.

7:12:357:12:37

Mine, for sure, look very different.

7:12:377:12:39

No-one is going to miss this.

7:12:397:12:40

From space, actually - look how big that is.

7:12:407:12:42

I've got my savoury and I've got my traditional.

7:12:427:12:46

And, while we're being traditional,

7:12:467:12:47

why not stick a Blue Peter flag in there as well?

7:12:477:12:49

So that everyone knows just how good a chef I am.

7:12:497:12:53

The judges will score each pasty out of 100,

7:12:557:12:58

so, as we await the results, I want to know what these guys

7:12:587:13:01

with a passion for pastry think of my efforts.

7:13:017:13:04

Hello, junior judges.

7:13:047:13:05

ALL: Hello!

7:13:057:13:07

So, here is a pasty that's been made by me.

7:13:077:13:10

It's my first time, so, be nice.

7:13:107:13:12

The score is out of 100. Take a piece and see what you think.

7:13:127:13:16

So, if you were going to give me a score out of 100, what would it be?

7:13:207:13:23

-100.

-OK.

7:13:237:13:25

-1,000!

-1,000 out of 100? That's a good score.

7:13:257:13:27

Thank you for trying them.

7:13:277:13:28

Shall I see if anyone else wants to try them?

7:13:287:13:30

-Can I take another one?

-You want another one?

7:13:307:13:32

-Really? It's that good?

-ALL: Yeah.

7:13:327:13:33

Sadly, though, these guys don't actually decide the competition,

7:13:337:13:36

so it's time to find out how I've done.

7:13:367:13:39

Has he done it?

7:13:397:13:40

Cue the tension music.

7:13:407:13:42

The winner of the Open Savoury Pasty Amateur is...

7:13:427:13:46

Don McKeever.

7:13:467:13:48

Right - so, maybe the steak and Stilton wasn't my best idea.

7:13:487:13:52

But I've still got my traditional Cornish - come on!

7:13:527:13:56

And the winner is...

7:13:567:13:58

Vanessa Farr.

7:13:587:14:00

Oh, well. Better luck next time.

7:14:007:14:02

You can't win them all.

7:14:027:14:03

But Naomi and Jack both get third place in their categories.

7:14:037:14:06

What an effort!

7:14:067:14:08

And as the pastry dust settles, I get my scores from the judges.

7:14:087:14:12

I got a total of 38/100.

7:14:127:14:15

That was for my savoury one, the steak and cheese,

7:14:157:14:17

which I thought, actually, was the worst one.

7:14:177:14:19

Underneath that, we've got the traditional pasty.

7:14:197:14:22

I got 48/100. That's not too bad.

7:14:227:14:24

OK, I take it on board.

7:14:247:14:26

I'm not best pasty maker in the world.

7:14:267:14:28

But what I have done is enjoyed myself -

7:14:287:14:30

not just the tasting and the cooking, but the learning.

7:14:307:14:33

And who knows what's going to happen next year.

7:14:337:14:37

I'll be back.

7:14:377:14:39

And you're going to be a champion, Barn.

7:14:397:14:41

-Thank you very much for dropping this little beauty off.

-Aw!

7:14:417:14:43

-An actual Cornish pasty.

-Looks quite delicious, doesn't it?

7:14:437:14:46

Now, of course, Barney wasn't lucky enough

7:14:467:14:48

to be crowned the World Pasty Champ, which he wanted,

7:14:487:14:51

but I think we should crown the Blue Peter fan of the month.

7:14:517:14:54

-Cue the music.

-FANFARE

7:14:547:14:55

-Yeah!

-Oh, I love that music. Music to my ears.

7:14:557:14:58

OK - this is a real BP fan.

7:14:587:14:59

They think Blue Peter is the best show ever on CBBC.

7:14:597:15:02

-True.

-They are always giving really good ideas for the caption challenge

7:15:027:15:05

that we do on The Fan Club Hour.

7:15:057:15:07

They're just a bit of a legend.

7:15:077:15:09

They're always been positive. They've got a great attitude.

7:15:097:15:11

So, Radz, Fan Of The Month is inside the pasty.

7:15:117:15:14

-Inside the pasty?!

-Ready? It is...

7:15:147:15:17

Take it out!

7:15:197:15:20

It is... Look at that greasy...

7:15:207:15:22

Topaz...

7:15:227:15:23

Wait, hang on.

7:15:237:15:24

Urgh...!

7:15:247:15:26

-Did you just lick the beef off of that?

-I had to!

7:15:317:15:33

My hand was tied.

7:15:337:15:34

Right, well, save that pasty for later.

7:15:347:15:36

That's how much I love Fan Of The Month.

7:15:367:15:38

Right, from pasties to your post-ie -

7:15:387:15:40

very smooth link, there.

7:15:407:15:42

Have a look at this week's big badge wall.

7:15:427:15:43

-It's incredible.

-Let's start with this one here.

7:15:437:15:45

-I smell of beef.

-So do I, actually.

7:15:457:15:47

I taste it.

7:15:477:15:48

This is from Imogen. Now, Imogen has sent this in super-quick.

7:15:487:15:51

Imogen is the sister of Naomi, that you actually saw in that film.

7:15:517:15:54

That's Barney's pasty, there,

7:15:547:15:56

and that's Barney, looking pleased with himself.

7:15:567:15:58

Thank you very much, Imogen.

7:15:587:15:59

A special shout-out to Harrison from Guildford.

7:15:597:16:02

He was inspired by you making pancakes,

7:16:027:16:04

Radz, with a bit of a difference.

7:16:047:16:05

He sent in... He's made his very own pan, look at that.

7:16:057:16:08

And inside, he's even done a little crepe.

7:16:087:16:11

-Shall I give it a flip?

-Flip it! Flip it! Flip it!

7:16:117:16:14

This hasn't gone right all day, Harrison,

7:16:147:16:16

but I'll try, just for you.

7:16:167:16:17

Go on, go on, Linz!

7:16:177:16:18

CHEERING

7:16:187:16:21

Now that is effort right there.

7:16:217:16:24

Oh, that hasn't gone right all day. Lovely.

7:16:247:16:26

Now, feast your eyes upon this here.

7:16:267:16:29

Ethan has sent us in this fantastic picture,

7:16:297:16:32

but it was a very special letter that accompanied it,

7:16:327:16:34

because Ethan told us that his dad is this man -

7:16:347:16:38

-Simon Thomas, Blue Peter presenter number 27.

-Royalty!

7:16:387:16:40

This man was my favourite-ever Blue Peter presenter.

7:16:407:16:43

He's a hero, he's an icon, and he's awesome.

7:16:437:16:46

-So excited.

-It's earned you your very own blue Blue Peter badge.

7:16:467:16:49

Not your dad's hand-me-downs - the 2017 version.

7:16:497:16:52

Have a look at this - it's from James from Derbyshire.

7:16:527:16:55

-Radz, go celebrate over there.

-I will.

7:16:557:16:57

He's given us a joke, which we love.

7:16:577:16:59

It says, "What did the cake say to the fork?"

7:16:597:17:01

CREW: I don't know. What did the cake say to the fork?

7:17:017:17:05

Thank you, Jack.

7:17:057:17:06

"Do you want a piece of me?"

7:17:067:17:07

LAUGHTER

7:17:077:17:08

We like that, we love a good LOL on BP.

7:17:087:17:10

Thank you so much for all your post,

7:17:107:17:12

it's keeping the badge wall looking fabulous.

7:17:127:17:14

-Another one for you, Linz.

-Yeah.

7:17:147:17:16

What's big, red and quite literally filled with LOLs?

7:17:167:17:19

I don't know, Radz - what is big, red and full of LOLs?

7:17:197:17:22

The Blue Peter totaliser.

7:17:227:17:23

Off we go.

7:17:237:17:25

-FANFARE

-We're having fun today, aren't we?

7:17:257:17:27

We're having a lot of fun. All of these numbers

7:17:277:17:29

represent jokey jokies that you good people have sent in.

7:17:297:17:32

You can get in on the action by downloading this form, here,

7:17:327:17:35

and including your favourite joke just down here.

7:17:357:17:38

-There have been...

-You've got the giggles.

7:17:387:17:40

I've got the giggles. There have been some corker-trons.

7:17:407:17:42

Like this one, from Ellie. Listen to it, it's funny.

7:17:427:17:44

Why is the school orchestra so smelly?

7:17:447:17:50

Because they have a large wind section.

7:17:507:17:53

CANNED LAUGHTER

7:17:537:17:54

LAUGHTER

7:17:567:17:58

Awesome.

7:17:587:18:00

We've got one from Nico. Go, Nico.

7:18:007:18:02

What do you call a dinosaur without any eyes?

7:18:027:18:04

LAUGHING: Don't know. What is it?

7:18:067:18:09

Doyouthinkysaurus!

7:18:107:18:12

CANNED LAUGHTER

7:18:127:18:13

LAUGHTER

7:18:137:18:15

Oh...!

7:18:157:18:16

We've got one more.

7:18:167:18:18

It's Lindsey from Oxford.

7:18:187:18:20

What did Jay-Z call his girlfriend before they were married?

7:18:207:18:25

FIANCEE.

7:18:257:18:27

WIND WHISTLES, BELL TOLLS

7:18:277:18:29

Right? Cos it...

7:18:297:18:32

-LAUGHING:

-Cos it sounds like Beyonce...

7:18:327:18:35

Cos it sounds like Beyonce!

7:18:367:18:38

-Don't get it.

-You don't get it?

7:18:387:18:40

No. Absolutely not.

7:18:407:18:42

I'm crying, Radzi. Do the next bit.

7:18:427:18:44

You can get involved by sending in your jokes.

7:18:447:18:46

You've only got two weeks left in which to do it, by the way.

7:18:467:18:49

Lindsey is absolutely gone.

7:18:497:18:50

But we want you to smash our total of 10,000.

7:18:507:18:53

We believe in you. We think you can do it.

7:18:537:18:55

You need to get your jokes into us by Wednesday 22nd March.

7:18:557:18:59

SHE LAUGHS HELPLESSLY

7:18:597:19:02

Do it.

7:19:027:19:03

-Online, Radzi.

-Also, take a look

7:19:037:19:05

at our fantastic online content.

7:19:057:19:06

-Lindsey, can you list it, please?

-Oh, yeah. We've got Hacker...

7:19:067:19:09

Hacker!

7:19:097:19:10

Everyone, stop at!

7:19:107:19:12

Get it together! We've got Hacker's Nosey Adventure,

7:19:127:19:14

and we have got Gabrielle Aplin

7:19:147:19:16

giving her top vocal tips, which is amazing.

7:19:167:19:18

If singing superstars is your thing, if it floats your boat,

7:19:187:19:21

then you are going to love our next guest.

7:19:217:19:22

Please welcome Gavin James.

7:19:227:19:24

Yeah!

7:19:247:19:25

-Gavin, we've got the giggles.

-Hi, there. Yeah?

7:19:287:19:30

-Thank you for being on Blue Peter.

-Thanks for having me.

7:19:307:19:32

What's it like to have the BP badge on?

7:19:327:19:34

-It's a dream, isn't it?

-It's amazing.

-Chuffed, yeah.

7:19:347:19:36

Now, let's talk about your career,

7:19:367:19:38

because you've had 200 million streams,

7:19:387:19:41

-is that right, for your music?

-Yeah, it's pretty cool.

7:19:417:19:43

It is pretty cool. How does that feel?

7:19:437:19:45

Say 100 million, a solid 100 million,

7:19:457:19:46

is probably my mam.

7:19:467:19:48

-Oh, OK.

-She, like, listens to it all the time.

7:19:487:19:50

Well, thanks, Mum. What a great support.

7:19:507:19:52

-Thanks, Ma.

-Talking about support, let's talk about Ed Sheeran.

7:19:527:19:55

He's had a bit to do with your career as well, hasn't he?

7:19:557:19:57

Yeah, he's lovely. Gingers, we've got to look after each other.

7:19:577:20:00

Don't make me laugh again, please! I just got over it, come on!

7:20:007:20:04

He's a great lad. I met him in Ireland,

7:20:047:20:05

and we just sat around in a circle, all of us, just playing guitar,

7:20:057:20:08

and we passed the guitar around.

7:20:087:20:09

Yeah, it was cool, and he got me into playing Croke Park in Dublin,

7:20:097:20:12

which is kind of like Wembley, here.

7:20:127:20:13

That's huge. 80,000 people.

7:20:137:20:15

I was very nervous. It was good, though.

7:20:157:20:17

Yeah, it was fun.

7:20:177:20:18

Are you touring, now? Are you touring at the moment?

7:20:187:20:20

-You're laughing...

-No, you're laughing!

7:20:207:20:22

I'll be touring in April. It's going to be a lot of fun.

7:20:227:20:24

Touring in April in the UK, start of April.

7:20:247:20:26

We're so excited, you're singing for us later on,

7:20:267:20:28

which is actually a TV exclusive, isn't it?

7:20:287:20:30

Yeah, first time I've ever played it on TV, so I'm chuffed.

7:20:307:20:33

We can't wait. I saw the rehearsals and it was just beautiful.

7:20:337:20:35

-So, Gavin, thank you.

-Thanks for having me.

7:20:357:20:37

-Gavin James, everybody.

-CHEERING

7:20:377:20:39

Now, Red Nose Day is just around the corner and, of course,

7:20:397:20:42

we're all doing our bit to get involved,

7:20:427:20:44

and it's so important,

7:20:447:20:45

because some children around the world

7:20:457:20:47

really need our help, because they find themselves

7:20:477:20:49

in a very tough situation.

7:20:497:20:51

Have a look at this.

7:20:517:20:52

This year, Red Nose Day have made two films,

7:20:547:20:57

showing how their work helps people living in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

7:20:577:21:02

These films are being shown in schools up and down the country,

7:21:027:21:05

so I've brought them to this one for a very special screening.

7:21:057:21:09

First up, it's Hassan's story.

7:21:097:21:11

So, Hassan's 12 and we are going to have a look at his story, now.

7:21:117:21:15

Let's have a little watch.

7:21:157:21:16

My name is Hassan.

7:21:167:21:18

I am 12 years old.

7:21:187:21:20

These are my friends.

7:21:207:21:21

CHEERING

7:21:217:21:24

I used to live with my mum,

7:21:247:21:26

my older brother

7:21:267:21:27

and my sisters.

7:21:277:21:29

Our family was happy.

7:21:297:21:31

People in my neighbourhood started getting sick.

7:21:327:21:36

One woman was taken to hospital and they said she had Ebola.

7:21:367:21:41

It made me feel scared,

7:21:417:21:42

in case me or any of my family got it,

7:21:427:21:45

because if anyone I knew got it,

7:21:457:21:47

I might not be able to see them again.

7:21:477:21:49

They taped off our street for 21 days.

7:21:507:21:53

There were soldiers stopping us from leaving,

7:21:547:21:57

and anyone from coming in.

7:21:577:22:00

They closed my school.

7:22:007:22:02

Nothing was open except the hospital.

7:22:027:22:04

If my school was shut,

7:22:047:22:06

I'd just be sad that I wouldn't be able to do my dream,

7:22:067:22:09

cos I wouldn't have the education

7:22:097:22:11

and I wouldn't be able to see my friends.

7:22:117:22:13

I stayed at home, doing nothing.

7:22:137:22:17

It wasn't long before my mum fell ill.

7:22:177:22:20

An ambulance came to take my mum away

7:22:207:22:23

and I never saw her again.

7:22:237:22:25

After nine months, Hassan's school reopened.

7:22:297:22:32

And, thanks to money raised by Red Nose Day,

7:22:327:22:35

a project supporting children affected by Ebola

7:22:357:22:38

has been able to help Hassan and others continue their education.

7:22:387:22:42

He is now back in school with his friends.

7:22:427:22:45

NASALLY: Thank you.

7:22:457:22:46

LAUGHTER

7:22:467:22:48

So, after hearing Hassan's story, how do you feel?

7:22:507:22:54

It makes me feel sad at the start,

7:22:547:22:56

because of what happened to his village,

7:22:567:22:58

but then happy at the ending,

7:22:587:22:59

because Red Nose Day changed his life.

7:22:597:23:02

I think he was so brave, because it must be really hard

7:23:027:23:05

to deal with, you know, not going to school,

7:23:057:23:07

not having any friends to talk to and play with.

7:23:077:23:09

So, this next film about Ikmatu.

7:23:097:23:12

So, let's take a look at her story.

7:23:127:23:14

Hi, my name is Ikmatu.

7:23:147:23:17

I am from Sierra Leone,

7:23:177:23:18

Freetown, Moa Bay community slum.

7:23:187:23:20

I am 16 years old.

7:23:207:23:22

I love my community because we come together, work as one.

7:23:227:23:27

My family are here, and also my friends.

7:23:277:23:30

As a peer educator, I advise people

7:23:317:23:33

on how to take care of their environment

7:23:337:23:36

and I clean the streets.

7:23:367:23:37

We are cleaning our environment so that we can't catch diseases.

7:23:377:23:42

I am the boss today.

7:23:427:23:43

Let's do the work faster.

7:23:437:23:45

It's quite dirty,

7:23:477:23:49

but they are helping to clean it and keep the diseases away.

7:23:497:23:54

However hard the work is, we will manage.

7:23:547:23:57

We will do it so that our community stays free from disease.

7:23:577:24:01

Everyone likes to work together as one.

7:24:017:24:04

I think that's a really good skill to have.

7:24:047:24:07

I became a volunteer peer educator during the Ebola outbreak

7:24:167:24:21

because I saw that the adults were afraid.

7:24:217:24:24

I had to be brave and talk to people calmly

7:24:267:24:30

to raise awareness about hygiene during Ebola.

7:24:307:24:34

Her community nearly got wiped out,

7:24:347:24:36

and I thought that she was really brave, that she stood up.

7:24:367:24:40

If nobody had acted,

7:24:407:24:42

everyone in my community would have been wiped out.

7:24:427:24:45

Red Nose Day allowed Ikmatu to do something

7:24:467:24:49

and help organise those around her tackle Ebola.

7:24:497:24:52

This work has made my future bright

7:24:547:24:57

and has made me determined to do more.

7:24:577:25:00

LAUGHTER

7:25:057:25:07

Why you think it's so important that Red Nose Day gets involved

7:25:077:25:12

and helps people and communities like Ikmatu's?

7:25:127:25:14

Because it helps them have a better future,

7:25:147:25:17

to live in a cleaner place,

7:25:177:25:19

and all the younger children will grow up

7:25:197:25:21

in a happy and safe environment.

7:25:217:25:23

It can make the difference of who lives and who doesn't.

7:25:237:25:27

Over the past few weeks, you've been busy sending us

7:25:277:25:30

your favourite jokes and pledging what you will be doing

7:25:307:25:32

to support this year's Red Nose Day.

7:25:327:25:35

What do you call a flying penguin?

7:25:357:25:37

Unusual.

7:25:377:25:39

What's the best Christmas present?

7:25:397:25:41

A drum.

7:25:417:25:42

You can't beat it.

7:25:427:25:43

If you've been inspired...

7:25:437:25:45

..to get involved...

7:25:457:25:46

..download this form...

7:25:467:25:48

..from the Blue Peter website.

7:25:487:25:49

Tell us your three favourite jokes...

7:25:497:25:51

..and what you're doing...

7:25:517:25:52

..to support Red Nose Day.

7:25:527:25:55

Yeah - what they said.

7:25:557:25:56

ALL: Make your laugh matter!

7:25:567:26:00

And speaking of Comic Relief, on Saturday,

7:26:007:26:02

Barney will be travelling from Manchester down to London,

7:26:027:26:05

trying to tell as many people his favourite joke.

7:26:057:26:08

In fact, HIS joke.

7:26:087:26:09

-See if you can see him and say hello.

-That's right.

7:26:097:26:11

But now, with his brand-new single, it is the amazing Gavin James.

7:26:117:26:15

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:26:157:26:17

# I don't know why

7:26:177:26:19

# I don't want anybody else but you

7:26:217:26:26

# No-one can ever add up to

7:26:277:26:31

# What you are

7:26:327:26:35

# Simple words

7:26:377:26:38

# That I can never say to you

7:26:407:26:44

# Things that I can never do

7:26:467:26:49

# When I was younger

7:26:517:26:54

# But I don't know

7:26:577:26:59

# Which way the wind blows

7:26:597:27:02

# But I know I'll be all right

7:27:027:27:06

# And I don't know

7:27:077:27:09

# If you think I'm crazy

7:27:097:27:12

# But if you say maybe, I...

7:27:127:27:16

# I'd say love don't wait in line

7:27:167:27:21

# No, love don't wait in line

7:27:217:27:26

# If I say

7:27:297:27:31

# That I don't care what you do with him

7:27:337:27:36

# If every time I lose, you win

7:27:377:27:41

# Then I'd be lying

7:27:437:27:46

# But I'd better learn

7:27:487:27:50

# Oh, I'd better learn to sink or swim

7:27:517:27:56

# Cos the pieces of my heart are getting dim

7:27:567:28:01

# But I'll find the light

7:28:017:28:05

# But I don't know

7:28:087:28:10

# Which way the wind blows

7:28:107:28:12

# But I know I'll be all right

7:28:127:28:16

# And I don't know

7:28:177:28:20

# If you think I'm crazy

7:28:207:28:22

# But if you say maybe, I...

7:28:227:28:26

# I'd say love don't wait in line

7:28:267:28:31

# No, love don't wait in line

7:28:317:28:35

# No

7:28:357:28:38

# Oh, oh, oh, oh

7:28:397:28:44

# Oh, oh, oh

7:28:447:28:48

# Oh, the times, they change

7:28:567:28:59

# And our lives they rearrange

7:29:017:29:05

# We were just a burning flame

7:29:067:29:10

# With bad timing

7:29:127:29:14

# Oh, but love don't wait in line

7:29:177:29:21

# No, love don't wait in line. #

7:29:227:29:26

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:29:297:29:32

-Incredible.

-Wow. Gavin, come on over.

7:29:327:29:36

That was absolutely beautiful.

7:29:367:29:38

Thank you very much, cheers.

7:29:387:29:40

Before you go, can you just tell us who the Spot Shelley winner is?

7:29:407:29:43

I've got it.

7:29:437:29:44

-Blue Violet Mini-Baker has won.

-Yay!

7:29:447:29:47

She was hiding on the...

7:29:477:29:48

There you go, on the totaliser. She's so cheeky.

7:29:487:29:50

-Thank you so much for coming in today.

-Thank you.

7:29:507:29:53

That's all we've got time for on today's show.

7:29:537:29:55

Make sure you're watching next week.

7:29:557:29:57

That's right. Barney is going to be looking for the perfect joke

7:29:577:29:59

with his fave comedian, Peter Kay.

7:29:597:30:01

-I'm going to finish on a joke.

-Go on.

7:30:017:30:03

What do you call a pop star that floats?

7:30:037:30:05

BUOY-ANCE!

7:30:057:30:06

Woeful. SHE LAUGHS
