There's less than two weeks until the Diamond Jubilee.

We've come somewhere glamorous

to inspire you to hold your own Jubilee party.

If you are planning to hold your own bash,

we've got loads of ideas.

Now for the main event -

a party planning competition like you've never seen.

It's the event hosting challenge of 2012.

Three pairs desperate to prove they can throw the best Jubilee bash.

With help of their expert mentors,

they'll try to plan the perfect party...

BOTH: The others don't have a chance!

..and attend and score their rivals' efforts.

BOTH: We give the food three out of five.

But only one team can reign supreme.

Ours is the Best Of British - it IS the best of British.

POP!

The first pair hoping that they'll put on the best Jubilee celebration

are 11-year-old Keely and 12-year-old Denon.

-We're going to win.

-We're so going to win.

They've got the fighting talk,

but what they really need is some expert advice.

Meet party planner Nellie Shepherd, who's organised events

for the children of pop star Madonna and chat show host Jonathan Ross.

First thing on the agenda - choosing a theme.

-It's like a pop star fancy dress.

-So bling, lights, pop star, disco.

We knew that the Diamond Jubilee's with the diamonds,

-and we want sparkly.

-You're designing your party.

The Queen's crown sparked the bling party idea.

Nellie has brought along an inspiration board

to get the creative juices flowing.

We've got loads of blind diamonds, neon colour.

-Do you want to introduce that?

-Yeah. A luminous green, pink.

-I love it.

-Colour scheme sorted.

How about some bling food?

-Cupcakes! With gems on it.

-I love it.

Did you know that you can get edible diamonds and edible glitter?

Bet it's hard to swallow! Next decision - music.

-Jessie J and Nicki Minaj.

-Yeah.

-Yep.

-Keha.

-Madonna.

So, they've got plenty of ideas.

But it's time to meet our second team.

12-year-old Dylan and 11-year-old Mike.

We'll do the best party ever.

They have high hopes

but can Joe McCann turn their dreams into reality?

-Tell me your theme.

What better theme to have for a Jubilee party?

Joe's inspiration board is designed to help the boys

think about what Britain means to them.

-Pop stars, singers.

-Football players.

-Favourite team?

-Manchester United.

-Manchester City.

-You're rivals, but best friends.

I'm glad I don't have to decorate a party to please both of them!

-But the sport talk doesn't end there.

-Lewis Hamilton.

-I like Formula 1.

-Why don't we have a racing game?

-Yeah.

-Drr-rr-rr!

Just the mention of racing's got my engines revving! Now for food.

-Curry.

-Curry!

Britain's favourite dish. Why don't we have a takeaway brought in?

That's the way to spice up the competition!

But there's still one more team party planning for success.

11-year-olds Danielle and Paige.

We're the best cos it's glitz and glamour.

We've got good ideas and we're just going to win.

The girls seem confident in their ideas,

but it's up to Michelle Ackerley to apply the artistic touch.

You've decided on a theme, which is A Night With The Stars.

Little lights everywhere, the red carpet.

-A Hollywood theme.

-Hollywood.

So, it's very glamorous. It ties in with the Jubilee party.

I can imagine the royals going to all these black-tie events.

How about some film-star food?

We're going to have pizzas and, like, butties, aren't we?

Pizza and butties! Sounds like a good party!

To add glamour, Michelle suggests paparazzi-inspired photos.

And she's got another very sweet idea.

-What about a chocolate fountain?

-That sounds good.

-A chocolate fountain?!

Get my swimming trunks, I'm going in!

Each pair will attend their rivals' parties

and score them on food, overall look and fun factor.

To make sure Keely and Denon are on the winning path,

Nellie has brought them to a hot restaurant

to match the party entertainment to the blinging theme.

-You're going to inspire them.

-We'll show you

how to use a touchscreen DJ console.

It's the latest in DJ technology.

Over with Mike and Dylan,

Joe's picked out a different place for inspiration.

This is a traditional British sweet shop.

I've got a great idea of what we can do with these sweets.

First, I need you to choose your favourites.

Michelle is taking Danielle and Paige to an art shop,

to add sparkle to the red carpet celebrations.

There's so many cool things

which will help to fit in with your glitzy, glamorous theme.

-Shall we explore?

-Yeah.

-Yeah.

-Let's do it.

There's so many materials to choose from!

-The girls get to work.

-Ah!

We've got buttons, we can stick gems on. We've got little sparkly things.

Sparkle sorted!

Across town, the boys are doing some very serious market research

to find the very best of British sweets.

-Try one?

-I'll try it!

-Which means scoffing everything in sight.

Cinnamon balls. One, two, three. What do you think of those?

Ah, disgusting, mate(!)

With every sweet tasted, they bag up their favourites.

But what has Joe got planned for those bags of goodies?

Back at the restaurant, Keely and Denon are mixing it up on the decks.

Effects, play and play.

-Guys, what do you think of this?

-It's mint!

-It's awesome!

It's going to make our party.

"RECORD" SPINS BACKWARDS

Did you hear that?

Let's hope the girls can improve before they DJ at the party.

The teams are on their way to creating dream Jubilee parties,

and they're ready to impress their rivals.

-We are going to win.

-Nobody else has the Hollywood theme.

Ours is the Best Of British, and it IS the best of British.

BOTH: They don't stand a chance.

Our theme's the best. We'll win.

CHEERING

I absolutely love that DJ deck.

-It's right up my street.

-You're going to get one, aren't you?

We said we'd give you some ideas for your own bash.

Here's the first one. It's called the Jubilee jelly.

We've got the red line, the blue line and the white.

-On top, a crown for the Jubilee.

-This is all about layering.

The bottom of our jelly will be blue.

You need blackcurrant jelly.

Mix the cubes in a jug with boiling water.

Get an adult to help and check the packet for how much water to use.

Add five to six teaspoons of blue food dye to get a good blue colour.

You pour that into your glass, but don't fill it all the way up.

You just want a third, or half of your glass to be full of liquid.

Leave that to set in a fridge.

There's your now set jelly.

Don't do that unless it's set. And then you pour in your red layer.

You can use any flavour for this. We're going with strawberry.

You want to leave a gap at top - we need to put our crown on.

Set as before.

They're nice and solid,

which means we can put a regal decoration on top.

For the centrepiece, you need

squirty cream, strawberries, chocolate or liquorice.

You can use edible gold balls and gold almonds to decorate.

Take your gold edible balls

and just press them into the side of the strawberry.

Add in some big gold almonds to the top of the strawberries

to make them really regal.

The more gold, the better, I say. Let's bling it up!

I'm going to cover the top of this with cream.

If your glass is big enough, you could use a meringue nest,

which will give you a more solid base.

On top of that, you can add your little crown.

Sprinkle chocolate shavings or liquorice pieces over the cream

so it looks like the fur on top of a royal cloak.

Or maybe not.

-Not enough chocolate yet.

-You want more chocolate?

-That's enough, definitely.

-There you have it, a Jubilee jelly.

It's day two of our rivals' Jubilee party preparations.

Our teams have chosen their themes

and gathered some ideas for the key elements of their parties.

-It's like a pop star fancy dress.

We're the best team cos it's glitz and glamour.

Sounds like a good party!

Mow it's time to start delivering on their fancy ideas.

First up, Keely and Denon with their Diamond Bling party.

Nellie's got something to tie the decor in with the entertainment.

The DJ has got to have a fantastic picture, called a mural.

Making your own mural is easy and great fun. Even I could do it!

If you can't find a giant piece of paper like this,

lay small pieces on the floor,

draw your design and attach it to the wall.

Ask an adult, or you might find yourself in a sticky situation.

-What have we created? BOTH:

-A masterpiece!

Will it be enough to clinch the competition?

-BOTH: Yeah, we're going to win!

-All right!

While Keely and Denon go neon crazy, it's time to find out

how Dylan and Mike's preparations are coming alone.

We're going to make pinatas.

Pinatas are a traditional Mexican party game.

-It's papier-mache and you hit it and the sweets fall out.

-Brilliant.

First, they need to blow up balloons, which sounds easy.

POP!

Let's see that again.

That's got to hurt!

The next step is to cover your balloon with newspaper and glue.

We don't have to be neat. We can get really messy.

I love a bit of mess, me!

We'll leave that to dry and then we can start painting them.

Whoa! Don't we need to get rid of the balloon first?

-Get an adult to supervise you and pop the balloon.

-Here it comes!

Cover your ears!

UNREMARKABLE POP

-Oh.

-That was a bit disappointing.

-I wanted a bigger pop.

-Once you pop, you can't stop.

To finish your pinatas, grab your sweets, stuff 'em in

and start splattering!

It's like a Union Jack sneezed on it! Can it win the competition?

This is the best party ever.

Only time will tell.

Let's see how Danielle and Paige's

Night With The Stars plans are panning out.

It's about being glam.

-BOTH:

-Yeah.

-It is.

Michelle's going to help them

make an accessory to go with their Oscar-inspired dress.

-A fascinator. Fascinating!

-Want to get stuck in?

-Yeah.

Let's do it.

If you want to make this, start by cutting two circles out of felt.

Attach them to a headband, and then stick whatever you like on them.

-I really like these, and the stars.

-You love it all?!

-I'll stick the feather on and put the lace around it.

-Love it.

Hands of the pink - it's mine!

We've got to make ten more for your guests. Let's get cracking.

The girls look great.

But will fancy headgear be enough to win them the crown?

-We're definitely going to win.

-It's going to be the best.

Our teams have nailed one element of their Jubilee celebrations.

But that's not all there is to their party.

Each room has to be glitzed,

glammed and transformed into a venue fit for a queen.

With a whole host of extra touches going into place,

the competition is hotting up.

Our teams still have some surprises for their guests

but who has planned the perfect Jubilee party?

I have no idea who's going to win.

But sweets in balloons - everyone's happy.

I want one of those headbands. You've got one.

-Can't believe you told them!

-Let's crack on.

-We're going to show you how to make a Jubilee windmill.

-Dead easy.

Go to the website and print out the Union Jack onto some A4 paper.

Make sure it's on both sides.

Make a square. Take your bottom corner.

Fold it up to the leading edge on the left-hand side.

Fold it down the middle.

Then unfold the paper. Draw a line where the crease meets the edge.

-Then you need to cut that off.

-Scissors.

-Scalpel!

Cut along the line, but don't throw away the remnant.

You can use it to make a Union Jack paper chain.

Take your ruler and draw across the middle, like so.

Fold along these lines to give yourself a guide to cut along.

Imagine there's a square in the middle of the paper.

You don't want to cut past that.

Once you've cut towards the middle of each of those lines,

you can see - you can lift up each side.

Then you need to take a pen and draw a dot in each of the four corners.

Then fold each dotted corner into the middle.

This is where you'll see the windmill start to take shape.

So that it holds its shape, put a pin through the centre.

Take a dressmaker's pin with a bobble on the end,

put that through the middle.

-Very carefully.

-Don't hold it on the back.

That will hold them together

and provide a bit of an axis for your windmill.

Grab a pencil and pull the pin through

the centre of the windmill into the rubber.

You don't want to injure anybody,

so put some Blu-Tack on the end to make that safe.

-There you have it - a Union Jack windmill.

-Very good.

the rivals and their party guests should expect the unexpected.

Diamond Bling is in full swing.

The neon mural looks great

and the digital DJ beck is pumping out some proper tunes.

-And not a moment too soon.

-At the beginning it was quite dull.

-Once the music started, everybody got in the mood.

-Love the DJ booth.

As well as entertaining the guests with banging music,

Keely and Denon are also impressing with their mixing skills.

-Oh, I've done it wrong again!

-Maybe not.

Although this fella doesn't seem to mind!

It seems the girls are scoring fun factor points

with some of their guests.

But what about the food? I smell baking!

-Here are your bling cupcakes.

-Thank you!

-Cupcakes are here!

-Come and get them!

Surely rivals Paige and Danielle are impressed now?

The cupcakes were a bit dry. The cream was too buttery as well.

-Oh.

-Maybe Mike and Dylan are cake men.

They were nice. They had buttercream on and I liked the cake.

Lovely.

So, the jury's out on the cakes.

But Keely and Denon have got one final trick, and it's a beauty.

Who wants their hair done?

Keely and Denon are first to take to the chair.

It's meant to be guests first, ladies!

Soon, everyone starts getting in on the blinging hair action.

It looks like our hosts are onto a winner with Paige and Danielle.

We liked the hairdressing.

It was really nice cos it was really girly and sparkly too.

We like sparkly stuff.

Man City fan Mike has gone with Man United colours in his hair.

Controversial!

So, with the party coming to a close, time for the scores.

How did Paige and Danielle rate those cupcakes?

BOTH: We give the food three out of five.

For the overall look of the party, another three diamonds out of five.

But the big question is, did they have a good time?

We're going to give the fun factor four out of five.

That's 12 diamonds out of 15. Will Dylan and Mike be as generous?

BOTH: We're going to give the food four out of...

-We're going to give the diamonds...

-Spit it out, eh?!

I'll take over. They gave five out of five for the look,

and three out of five for the fun factor.

That means that Denon and Keely's bling party

scores an impressive 24 diamonds out of 30.

Time for party number two - Danielle and Paige.

They wanted glitz, glamour, Hollywood.

I've given it to them by the bucket-load.

They'll have a great party.

BOTH: Welcome to our Night With The Stars party.

The first thing the guests notice is the exquisite decor

and their handmade fancy fascinators.

Who am I kidding? Let me at that chocolate fountain!

They scored some serious points with Dylan and Mike.

The fountain was good, and the things you could dip into it.

But Keely's feeling queasy.

After the chocolate brownies and the chocolate, I started to feel sick.

Now it's time for your main course - pizza and butties,

served up by the first big surprise, butler Uncle Mike.

Who wants some food, kids?

EXCITED SHOUTING

The food was great.

When the butler came round, it was fun.

It's time for the piece de resistance.

Something no celebrity party would be without.

-Let's go and get our picture taken!

-Photos!

Hi!

Get ready for your close-up.

Cheese!

Cheesy!

The best bit was the photo booth.

I don't think anyone would ever have a photo booth at their party.

-BOTH:

-I liked it.

So, the paparazzi-inspired photo booth has been a crowd-pleaser.

With the party winding down, it's time for the scores.

This time, boys first.

BOTH: We give the food four out of five.

They liked the look lots, giving a top score of five out of five,

and a massive four out of five for the fun factor.

So, the boys scored Paige and Danielle's party 13 out of 15.

Surely Keely and Denon won't be quite as generous.

-We gave the food...

-Four out of five.

They gave the overall look four out of five,

but did they have a good time?

-We gave...

-..the fun factor...

-BOTH: ..five out of five.

That gives Danielle and Paige a grand total of 26 out of 30,

making their party the one to beat.

And there's only one team that can do it. Dylan and Mike.

This party sums up what is best of British.

They've decorated their party with things that mean

the best of British, including pictures of sports stars

and goalposts dedicated to Man United and Man City.

For food, it's our nation's favourite dish.

BOTH: Who wants some curry?

-Who wants it first?

-The chicken tikka masala seems to be popular.

-The presentation, however, needs a bit of work.

-Who's next?

As do Dylan and Mike's hosting skills.

Do we have to do this all day? I want some curry.

Everybody served, they finally get a mouthful.

It's nice and spicy.

-It is hot!

-That might come back to haunt him.

Can the boys' rivals take the heat?

I didn't like the curry.

It was too spicy and it had black bits in it.

I tasted one and my tongue went green.

Curry that turns your tongue green! Really? Really?!

The tikka masala hasn't wowed the critics.

Perhaps the entertainment will.

-Aw, I missed it!

-Go on, give it some welly!
