I'm just painting a picture. I've nearly finished.

DOORBELL

Ooh, I wonder who that can be. I'd better get cleaned up.

-DOORBELL

-All right, I'm nearly coming.

-KNOCKING AT DOOR

-Just a tick!

Ohh!

My beautiful picture!

Coming! Hang on!

Hang on.

Hello? Oh, I don't believe it! There was no-one there.

I've ruined my picture, and I've run out of wipes.

Hmm. Hang on.

This gives me a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try making a surprising picture

using the lid of an old packet of wipes.

Ho-ho! Let's make it!

As well as a plastic wipes lid, we need things from the Doodle Draws.

Some paper, card and scissors.

Some paint and some paintbrushes.

Wallet of sticky dots, a pen and a glue stick.

Phew!

Whoa!

Now, to make a surprise picture, like this one here...

Hey!

..you first need to take the lid off an empty pack of wipes.

This is quite tricky, so ask an adult to help you.

There we go.

Now, let's bring in some coloured paper,

open up our lid,

and place it down on the paper sticky side up.

Now we're gonna get a pencil and draw very lightly

inside this hole here.

Let's put this paper to one side for a minute, keep our lid here,

but close it and put it sticky side up onto some card.

Now, again, lightly with our pencil,

we're going to draw along the four straight edges of this lid.

If we add four corners, we can join up these lines

and make a rectangle door shape.

Now we cut this shape out, but be careful because scissors are sharp.

Ooh!

When you've cut out your door, put it to one side for a second,

bring in some other card and our flap again

and push it down, sticky side down, onto the card.

There. Let's bring our door shape back in -

here it is - and glue it on top of this front flap here.

On there.

Now we've got our door, we need a room to go around it.

And you can colour it in

however you want, like this. Let's paint our one.

And when it's dry, finish it off with some black-pen detail.

There - it looks like a room.

It's got a carpet, a picture on the wall,

and it's even painted black inside the door.

Now let's draw a surprise to go inside here.

How about a ghost with his arm opening the door?

Let's do that on our coloured paper.

We drew one earlier.

Stick on two white sticky dots for eyes.

Then we need to cut our ghost out.

But be careful because scissors are sharp.

So now we have our ghost.

Ooh! Let's glue him in the doorway.

Ooh!

Anyone in?

Wha-ha-ha-ha!

That IS surprising!

Why don't you try some other ideas?

It's minute make time and here's what we're going to make -

a wobbly clown!

Whoah, there, wobbly clown! You're making me dizzy!

To make a wobbly clown, you will need...

a piece of white card or paper, a black pen,

a small pom-pom, two pieces of tissue paper,

some scissors, a ball of modelling clay, a glue stick,

and we'll also need a plastic egg that opens into two halves

and some googly eyes.

You can get these from an art and craft shop or a toy shop.

Back in a tic.

Right, here we go. I've got...

my googly eyes.

There they are, there.

And somewhere, ooh, here it is, is our plastic egg that opens in half.

Fantastic. I'll put that here for now.

Now, it's time to do it. Do you think we can make this...

in just one minute?

Not a chance!

I think I can do it, Tocky, but I'll have to move quickly.

I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

Let's make it in a minute!

Start the clock.

Yes, let's!

Let's get our plastic egg, move it over here

put some modelling clay in - now it wobbles.

Let's give our clown googly eyes

with some glue,

there we go, let's stick that one on.

There, and now there's another googly eye about to go on,

that's it. Now he needs a nose,

that's the pom-pom,

put plenty of glue on there.

He's wobbling around!

-Now he needs a mouth, so we need the card.

-Half way!

Already?! Oh, dear.

There's the mouth, like that.

Let's cut this out very carefully.

Round we go, round we go with the mouth.

Round there and round there...

Great!

OK, that one goes on there.

Now he's got a mouth, all he needs is some hair,

so I've put some glue there and there,

and then scrunch these two bits up here...

You've got yourself a wobbly - done it!

ALARM RINGS

Only just!

That was close, Tocky.

But if we had more time, we could have made some other ideas.

How about a chick, using a yellow egg with an orange beak?

Or a pig, using a pink egg with a paper snout.

Or you could make an out-of-this-world alien.

Why don't you make a wobbly clown or one of his friends?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

To make your wobbly clown,

press a ball of modelling clay into the bottom of your plastic egg.

Stick on two googly eyes, a pom-pom for a nose,

draw a mouth on some paper,

cut it out and stick it on.

Scrunch up two balls of tissue paper for the hair,

and stick it on to finish your wobbly clown.

Why not try making it in a minute?

Now take a look at this!

This is a creepy cauldron.

It looks really spooky, doesn't it?

This picture is easy to make,

but looks so good, you'll be able to frame it.

You will need coloured paper, chalks,

paint, a glue stick and whatever you want to put into your cauldron.

Start by drawing the top of a cauldron

on the bottom of your paper.

Then colour it in in black paint.

And how about painting bright green for the bubbling broth inside?

When it's dry, make swirly chalk marks,

so it looks as if smells are coming out of your cauldron.

Smudge them with your finger for a hazy effect.

Now for the gruesome ingredients.

What about a pipe-cleaner wiggly worm?

It's just a pipe-cleaner

with googly eyes on the end.

Add some pictures cut out of magazines,

like a leg, or an old fish-head with a spooky skeleton,

made out of strips of paper.

Draw a horrible eye-ball,

cut it out and stick it on,

adding red tissue paper for jelly bits.

You can put anything you like in the cauldron.

Let your imagination run wild.

For a finishing touch, add some stars.

What a great way of making a brilliant picture.

Now all that's left to do is...

frame it.

Isn't that effective?

Ooh, what's going on here?

Look at all these old plates and cups and saucers.

Ah, look - here's my old art trophy,

and what else is in here?

Wow! It's an antique painting of my great-uncle, the famous explorer.

This is all really precious and fragile stuff,

so I'll keep it in this box

until I need it all for a special occasion,

and I'm wrapping it up in this stuff...

bubble wrap!

It's special, soft and bouncy stuff

with lots of...

-bubbles!

-HE LAUGHS

Actually, I mustn't pop the bubbles, no...

Well, maybe just one more, eh?

-IT POPS

-I love bubble wrap!

Ah, brilliant!

And it gives me a brilliant idea!

Let's make something!

It's a bubble-wrap cactus that you'll never need to water.

Let's make it.

We'll need some things from the doodle drawers.

-Some pipe-cleaners...

-THEY TWANG

..some bubble wrap... Whoo...

..some sticky tape...

..some glue...

..some paint and some paint brushes...

..and a plastic plant pot. Ha-ha!

Whoa! Now to make your very own bubble-wrap cactus

like this one here,

you will need five large squares of bubble wrap,

like this.

Now, place one of these squares bubble-side down

onto the table.

Then get a pipe-cleaner

and put it at the bottom edge

of this square.

Then stick it in place with some sticky tape.

Let's roll it up...

like this, all the way to the end,

making a sort of bubble-wrap sausage.

Then just as we get to the end,

we leave a little bit here

to put on some glue...

..which will help us stick it together.

Now we can do the same with two more pieces of bubble wrap.

Now you have three bubble-wrap rolls,

you can stick them all together.

So, put glue on the bottom half

of each of the rolls.

Then we can squeeze all the sticky ends together,

but don't squeeze too hard,

or all the bubbles will pop.

Now we need to take our plant pot

and scrunch up another square of bubble wrap into a ball.

Now if we put this inside,

we need to put on top a splodge of gloopy glue.

That's going to help us stick our cactus in place.

So let's put it in,

right into the glue,

and now with our last piece of bubble wrap,

we can fill in all the space around the bubble-wrap rolls.

Now we need to take one of the rolls

and bend it downwards like that,

and then bend it up again like this.

Mm...now do the same with another roll...

..and look, it's starting to look like a cactus!

But now we need to paint it.

So, let's make a painty mixture

using half green paint and half gloopy glue.

Then we can paint this mixture all over our cactus.

Then we can use a dark green painty mixture

to paint the creases.

And we can also use a yellow painty mixture

to highlight some extra details.

And last but not least,

we can use a brown painty mixture here, to show up the soil.

Let's get painting!

And when it's all nice and dry,

you'll have your very own bubble-wrap cactus.

It's fantastic!

Now normally a cactus is spiky and prickly and not very nice to touch,

but the good thing about our one is that it's soft and squidgy!

Fantastic!

Although I mustn't pop the bubbles this time.

Now you can create any type of cactus you like.

Look at this one! It's got brightly coloured decoration

all around the pot.

And how about this big round cactus,

made with a big ball of bubble wrap!

And you can even try...

adding brightly coloured bubble-wrap flowers.
