Hello, everyone.

I'm Leah with Newsround this Wednesday afternoon.

Coming up, imagine having a teacher who does this.

And a new life for the cat abandoned at Christmas.

First, how much time have you spent today staring at a screen

like the one you're watching Newsround on right now?

Loads of you have been in touch after a charity spoke to parents

about what they thought about screen time.

I've been finding out what you think.

Technology, it is everywhere, and no wonder we are all addicted.

Games, phones and tablets at our fingertips.

On average we spend about six and a half hours looking at screens.

Now the charity Action for Children has spoken to parents in the UK.

One in four said they found it easier to get you to do homework

or have a bath than they did to get you guys to turn off the tech,

but what do you think?

I use my iPod the most and I do think I spent a lot of time on it.

I personally think you should only have one piece of tech because one

is enough if you can access the Internet on it.

My parents think I spend a lot of time on it,

they say that I do, and they call me a geek sometimes.

I have a phone, a laptop, an Xbox.

So those guys really love their tech time,

but what have you been saying about it on our website?

Well, Natasha in Dudley says she spends around five hours a day

online and that sometimes stops her seeing her family.

Isaac says children should have tablet time like he does.

He has half an hour a day on his tablet.

Abby in Sheffield reckons her mum finds it easy to get her off

the phone, although she admits she does spend quite a bit

of time on it.

Dozens of people were rescued from high waves on Hawaii's north

shore after being swept out to sea in Oahu.

Officials there had told people to stay away but the 11 metre-high

waves proved irresistible to these people.

Luckily nobody was injured.

Next to Purdy the cat.

She was found abandoned in a box of tinsel last Christmas.

Like many pets rescued by animal charities around this time of year,

it's believed she was an unwanted Christmas present.

I've been to meet her and her new family a year on.

Oscar and Monty are animal lovers who welcomed this cat

into their home after she was abandoned Christmas 2014.

Can you tell me a bit about Purdy?

She was abandoned, wasn't she?

How do you feel about that?

It is really mean of the people who owned her.

It is not kind.

It was RSPCA inspector Esther Lincoln

who came to the rescue of Purdy.

She is back to see how Purdy is doing.

Esther, can you tell me how you found Purdy?

I was called to an abandoned kitten on the seventh floor of a high-rise

block of flats and on the corridor there was boxes filled with tinsel

and Christmas decorations and loose was this small kitten.

There is a lot of animals that are got rid of after Christmas,

unwanted, and if you get to the point you realise you are not

coping with an animal, you have got the RSPCA,

the Blue Cross, the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, there are so many

charities that can offer advice and help.

What is your message to people, because it does happen quite a lot

at this time of year?

What should they do?

You need to do your research.

It is not like buying a games console that you get bored of

and you can put away in a drawer.

Some of the basic care, apart from food and water,

is vaccinating, flea treatment, worming.

These are all musts.

Animals are a big commitment.

They need lots of care and attention and if you are thinking of getting

one, you need to know how to look after them and where you can get

help if you are struggling.

Maybe that way not as many will be abandoned.

Now, chameleons have some of the fastest tongues

in the animal world.

Even faster than a Formula One car.

A new study by scientists looked at the speed by watching them

in super slow motion.

They've found the smallest ones have the fastest tongues.

And finally, imagine having a teacher who can do this.

This is Mr Clark.

He's famous in the US for his unusual teaching methods

and here he is shaking it with some of his class.

After just 14 hours of posting, the video got more than 1.5 million

views, making it one of the biggest online hits of 2016 so far.
