Russian troops moving back. We will bring you more when we get it. Next,

:01:25.:01:39.

it's a really important day for South Africa. For the first time

:01:40.:01:42.

since the death of their former leader Nelson Mandela last December,

:01:43.:01:45.

millions of people are voting for who they want to run the country.

:01:46.:01:48.

Mandela was seen as inspirational for getting rid of a system where

:01:49.:01:52.

black people had far fewer rights than white people. For many young

:01:53.:01:55.

black South Africans, they'll be voting for the first time, having

:01:56.:01:58.

grown up in a country that was very different more than 20 years ago.

:01:59.:02:01.

Hundreds of South Africans waiting outside a polling station. A lot has

:02:10.:02:14.

changed in the past 20 years. Back then it was illegal for black people

:02:15.:02:19.

to vote. Under a system called apartheid, black South Africans were

:02:20.:02:22.

not allowed to use the same schools, hospitals and shops as white people.

:02:23.:02:25.

The country was split. During that time Nelson Mandela campaigned for

:02:26.:02:28.

equality. He was imprisoned for speaking out, but after 27 years in

:02:29.:02:32.

jail he went on to become the country's first black president.

:02:33.:02:34.

Mandela's party the African National Congress have been in power ever

:02:35.:02:39.

since. South Africa is still heavily divided. I travelled to Johannesburg

:02:40.:02:45.

last year to speak to young South Africans. We must look up to

:02:46.:02:53.

Mandela. He liberated us. But life is still very tough for the people

:02:54.:02:56.

who live some of the poorest areas. This girl told me how her family

:02:57.:03:00.

struggle every day. Our life is complicated, because like sometimes

:03:01.:03:04.

the electricity goes off. Another problem is the number of

:03:05.:03:15.

people who are out of work. I'm hoping our Goth will come through

:03:16.:03:22.

with their promises and provide us with jobs. Today's vote is also an

:03:23.:03:25.

important one for the countries younger generation. It is not just

:03:26.:03:29.

the old who are voting in this historic election. There are those

:03:30.:03:33.

who are young, they're called the Born Frees, because they were born

:03:34.:03:41.

after the end of apartheid. The current President Jacob Zuma is

:03:42.:03:44.

expected to win, but there's a big feeling across South Africa that

:03:45.:03:48.

things need to change. Thanks Ricky, and you can watch Mandela's

:03:49.:03:50.

Children, the special programme Ricky made when he was in South

:03:51.:03:54.

Africa after the death of Nelson Mandela. It's on the Newsround

website now. We know how slow it with be stuck in traffic. But

:04:08.:04:12.

drivers in America were delayed by a different sort of traffic. A family

:04:13.:04:18.

of geese decided it was a good time for an evening stroll. Eventually

:04:19.:04:25.

the two geese and five youngsters were escorted to safety by the

:04:26.:04:29.

police. Ever wish your garden was more fun? Would a rollercoaster do

:04:30.:04:35.

the trick? This American boy had such fun at an amazement park that

:04:36.:04:39.

he becked his dad

:04:40.:04:41.
