We meet a baby dolphin born in the US.

First, huge wild fires are continuing in Fort McMurray

in Alberta, Canada.

No-one's been killed but many parts of the city have been destroyed.

I've been taking a closer look at the latest developments.

The fire started last Sunday and Canada's Oil Sands region.

Experts say it was able to spread due to the unusual weather,

which has caused more dire condition than normal.

Alberta has had 330 wildfires already this year, more than double

the amount they would usually have in 12 months.

88,000 residents were evacuated and nine evacuation centres were set

up in Alberta by Thursday evening.

We had, basically, two minutes to get home,

grab our staff and then we had to leave.

A huge team of firefighters, helicopters and air tankers

are battling the blaze.

The fire now covers an area larger than New York City and is expected

to double in size in the coming 24 hours.

Thousands of miles away, volunteers in Toronto have been

providing aid packs to those affected by the wildfires.

I just wanted to help.

There's not much we can do.

We feel helpless here.

While aid begins to reach those affected, the Canadian Government

is working to find temporary housing for family to foster homes.

A total of 40 wildfires are still burning with five out

of control, and that is causing problems for people trying

to evacuate their homes as one of the main routes out

of the area has been covered with heavy smoke.

Luckily, people have acted fast and, with no casualties, people

are hoping these files will let up so they can move on in their lives.

In Australia, the city of Sydney has been blanketed in smoke

after firefighters there carried out controlled burns in

the nearby countryside.

People who live there woke to find famous landmarks hidden.

Asthma-sufferers have been advised to stay indoors

until the smoke dies down.

It's hoped that by lighting carefully managed fires in the dry

bush areas near the city, destructive wildfires

will be prevented.

Meanwhile, police in California, in the US, are tackling a different

kind of extreme weather, this huge mudslide.

It closed a major road in the State, leaving drivers stranded.

It was caused by heavy rains.

The results are coming in after elections took place

across the UK on Thursday.

One of the big stories is in London, where people have voted

to choose a new mayor.

We asked the BBC's man in the know to explain more.

Here's Chris Mason.

Over the last few days, there have been lots of,

what are known as, elections.

Where grown-ups get a say on who's in charge, who is running things,

which politicians get to make decisions.

We have just found out who will be the new Mayor of London

for the capital city.

Because London is such a big city on the world stage,

this matters for everyone - wherever you are in the country.

It used to be a guy called Boris Johnson.

It is now a man called Sadiq Khan.

He is from the Labour Party, so a different party from the one

that's in charge all over the country in Government.

His dad used to be a bus driver and it is the first time in a big,

rich western country that the mayor has been a Muslim.

Footy news now and newly crowned champions Leicester take on Everton

later today with the Foxes being presented with the Premier

League trophy after the match.

That will be a celebration not to be missed.

The bottom five are all in action too with Norwich, Newcastle

and Sunderland, who host Chelsea at the Stadium of Light,

all desperate to pick up some valuable points.

It's about performing to the level that you need to,

because time is running out, games are running out

and we all know what we have to try and do.

There is no margin for error any more.

We'll either be able to cope mentally or we won't.

In Spain, Britain's top tennis star Andy Murray

is through to the semifinals of the Madrid open.

The defending champ beat Tomas Berdych 6-3, 6-2

to record his first ever win over the Czech on a clay court.

The world number two will now face nine-time French Open champion

Rafael Nadal in the last four.

Now, it wouldn't be Newsround without a quick round-up of today's

top animal stories, would it?

Including this very cute baby

dolphin.

The two-week-old calf is a Pacific white-sided dolphin

which has been born in the USA at an aquarium in chicago.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, it's a boy!

Now if you thought these looked like LED-lit pigeons,

well, you'd be right!

It's part of an art exhibition in new york city.

The massive flock took off and circled for 30 minutes over

the deck of their temporary home on an old US Navy ship,

in a dockyard where military carrier pigeons were once trained.

And staying in the US, these elephants, previously used

in circus shows but have since been rescued, are getting used

to their new home now that they'll no longer be used in performances -

and don't they love it?
