Hi, I'm Martin, It's Friday morning, this is Newsround -

:00:00.:00:00.

and here's what we've got for you today...

:00:00.:00:08.

Hayley is live in with kids who are speaking to

:00:09.:00:10.

We will be looking at technology here in Las Vegas.

:00:11.:00:29.

First up, rain has been causing more problems in Scotland.

:00:30.:00:32.

The river Don in Aberdeenshire has burst it's banks and many people

:00:33.:00:35.

have had to be evacuated to safe places.

:00:36.:00:38.

The surrounding areas have also been affected and rescue efforts have not

:00:39.:00:41.

been helped by low temperatures and snow.

:00:42.:00:46.

Next up, 2016 is set to be another big year for drones.

:00:47.:00:49.

So where better to find the latest drone designs than the biggest

:00:50.:00:52.

gadget show in the world, CES, in America?

:00:53.:00:54.

When it comes to drones, they don't get much bigger than that.

:00:55.:01:06.

This is said to be a world first, it is a drone that can carry

:01:07.:01:11.

a passenger but without the need of a pilot.

:01:12.:01:13.

On a tablet, they can choose their destination.

:01:14.:01:16.

The drone lifts off and takes you to wherever you need to go.

:01:17.:01:21.

At the moment, it is just a prototype so it has not

:01:22.:01:24.

But imagine stepping into something like that!

:01:25.:01:31.

It's for one passenger, with eight propellers and four arms.

:01:32.:01:33.

The fast charge will be two hours. Standard charges four hours.

:01:34.:01:40.

How long will that last in the sky? 23 minutes.

:01:41.:01:46.

This is said to be one of the safest drones on show

:01:47.:01:49.

That's because the propellers aren't exposed, they are actually

:01:50.:01:54.

I go like that and turn it 90 degrees, it stops.

:01:55.:02:04.

Why is there a need to try to make drones safer?

:02:05.:02:07.

Drones are dangerous, with high-speed propellers,

:02:08.:02:09.

you do not want to fly them near people or expensive equipment.

:02:10.:02:13.

That is what we are trying to achieve.

:02:14.:02:20.

Next, Tim Peake, the first British astronaut to live on board

:02:21.:02:23.

the International Space Station, is enjoying life in orbit.

:02:24.:02:25.

Today he'll take time out of his busy schedule to speak

:02:26.:02:28.

to kids at a school in St Albans about his time in space so far.

:02:29.:02:32.

Hi, Martin. We're pretty excited. In 20 minutes, we will be contacting

:02:33.:02:49.

Tim Peake in the International Space Station. Guys, how do you feel?

:02:50.:03:00.

Really excited. Really nervous. It is buzzing, the atmosphere here is

:03:01.:03:05.

awesome. It is quite quiet and tense because they are testing equipment.

:03:06.:03:10.

It will not be easy. Tim Peake is travelling 250 miles above the

:03:11.:03:15.

Earth, at 17,500 mph, and is only crossing this bit of Earth for ten

:03:16.:03:20.

minutes. A tight window but these guys have been well trained for

:03:21.:03:25.

eight days. They have a special space radio contact licence. There

:03:26.:03:30.

is technology involved, this is a big deal. No pressure, guys! What

:03:31.:03:36.

will you ask him? His view on the Earth and how it is different from

:03:37.:03:44.

in space. About the experiment and I would like an answer that is

:03:45.:03:46.

different to what is on the internet. I will ask about gravity.

:03:47.:03:56.

I am asking about the experiments he is doing. I will ask about

:03:57.:04:07.

experiments also. I hope he knows the answer. Let's hope so. I will

:04:08.:04:17.

ask about the mission name and about planets and I hope he tells me

:04:18.:04:21.

something I don't know. I hope he remembers me! That would be cool.

:04:22.:04:31.

Newsround will not be live at the time we may contact but don't worry,

:04:32.:04:35.

I am sticking here to make Sue we see the chat with Tim so tune in

:04:36.:04:41.

this afternoon at 4:20pm. It is literally going to be out of this

:04:42.:04:42.

world. Thank you. Lots of you this week would have

:04:43.:04:48.

taken down your Christmas tree but if you have a real tree

:04:49.:04:50.

what do you do with it? Yesterday I caught up

:04:51.:04:54.

with an environmental expert to find out, and it was quite

:04:55.:04:56.

a stinky experience. It's really important to recycle

:04:57.:04:58.

your Christmas tree after Christmas. It can be turned into which it,
