Hi everyone, Ayshah here with Wednesday afternoon Newsround. | :00:10. | :00:12.
First up seeing pictures of your friends, beautiful places | :00:13. | :00:14.
or cute animals on social media can be fun, but what if a picture | :00:15. | :00:18.
of you pops up that you don't like and didn't share yourself? | :00:19. | :00:24.
Some of the people who post the most pictures of you are parents | :00:25. | :00:28.
and you don't always think that's a good thing, as Ricky's | :00:29. | :00:30.
She will do it when I'm not looking and then she won't ask | :00:31. | :00:40.
My first ever bicycle, I just collapsed into it and my mum | :00:41. | :00:44.
Sometimes I wish she wasn't on social media because they might | :00:45. | :00:48.
comment embarrassing things on photos that I put on. | :00:49. | :00:51.
They will take one of the at by siblings and put it on and it might | :00:52. | :00:54.
More in one in three 10 to 12-year-olds told you should | :00:55. | :01:01.
they feel embarrassed, anxious or worried when their | :01:02. | :01:03.
parents put pictures of them on social media sites. | :01:04. | :01:08.
So, do mums and dads need to think more about what they are sharing? | :01:09. | :01:11.
My mum took a picture of me when I was sleeping, | :01:12. | :01:14.
so I obviously didn't know until morning. | :01:15. | :01:15.
She said, look how many comments you have on this photo | :01:16. | :01:18.
They just post whatever they can find, they don't really | :01:19. | :01:22.
They might post pictures to have a laugh with their mates | :01:23. | :01:28.
and think it's funny, but it might not be funny for you. | :01:29. | :01:31.
You think about it, but they don't think about it. | :01:32. | :01:33.
They can get bullied for it and you don't want that happening | :01:34. | :01:36.
More than one in four said they have been unhappy with a picture someone | :01:37. | :01:43.
That is mainly because they didn't like the way they look | :01:44. | :01:48.
or that person didn't ask for their permission and some say | :01:49. | :01:51.
My friend posted this story of me and I didn't like it. | :01:52. | :01:57.
I asked him to take it down and he took it down. | :01:58. | :02:00.
Maybe the reason you don't have a social media account | :02:01. | :02:03.
is because you don't want anyone to see your photo and then people | :02:04. | :02:06.
are sharing photos of you and I just think it is not nice | :02:07. | :02:09.
When I see nasty comments I feel really scared to use social media | :02:10. | :02:13.
because I don't want to be targeted like them. | :02:14. | :02:16.
When my friend posted an embarrassing picture of me | :02:17. | :02:18.
it made me feel quite frustrated and angry. | :02:19. | :02:21.
More than one in three of the kids we asked said seeing a picture | :02:22. | :02:24.
of them they didn't like made them feel sad, anxious or nervous. | :02:25. | :02:27.
What can you do about feeling that way? | :02:28. | :02:31.
You approach the person who has put the picture on the line of them, | :02:32. | :02:34.
ask them to take it down and tell them they are worried about it. | :02:35. | :02:37.
Speak to a parent or another trusted adult. | :02:38. | :02:40.
Sometimes a parent can reassure the child out of the picture might | :02:41. | :02:43.
be embarrassing at the moment, in a couple of days the picture | :02:44. | :02:46.
But the good news is that mostly mums and dads do get it right. | :02:47. | :02:52.
Nearly half of the ten to 12-year-olds said they were OK | :02:53. | :02:54.
with what their parents posted and what they saw made them | :02:55. | :02:58.
So, what is your message for parents? | :02:59. | :03:03.
It can affect the child's life further on and the | :03:04. | :03:05.
Your child's friends will see whatever you comment on their photo. | :03:06. | :03:13.
Maybe when they post photos they could ask first, | :03:14. | :03:17.
because most of the time my mum just posts them. | :03:18. | :03:19.
We asked you guys to get in touch with what you think about this | :03:20. | :03:28.
Reuben from East Sussex says, my mum points her phone at me | :03:29. | :03:32.
all the time and takes sneaky videos and pictures. | :03:33. | :03:34.
If I see her, I deliberately do something weird. | :03:35. | :03:40.
While Lilly says her mum has Facebook and once posted a photo | :03:41. | :03:43.
She actually did not want her to post it | :03:44. | :03:47.
Next, I'd like you to meet my friend Eric the robot. | :03:48. | :03:55.
Meet Eric. He is no ordinary robot. He is a copy of the first ever robot | :03:56. | :04:11.
from the UK. The original robot was built in 1928 and were using gears. | :04:12. | :04:16.
However, after touring the world, Eric went missing and was never seen | :04:17. | :04:23.
again. That is until the science Museum launched a project to build a | :04:24. | :04:27.
copy of him to share his story with the world. No Eric is packing a | :04:28. | :04:32.
brand-new aluminium body containing wires and motors and has gone on | :04:33. | :04:36.
display as part of a big exhibition about robots. Rust in peace Eric | :04:37. | :04:42.
number one, there is a new robot in town. | :04:43. | :04:43.
That's all for today, Ricky's here at 7:40 tomorrow morning. | :04:44. | :04:45.
And don't forget to head online for all the rest | :04:46. | :04:47.
Don't forget to check out the website for all the rest | :04:48. | :04:53. |
