Good morning. It's Friday, 11th April your live with me Nel taking | :00:00. | :00:07.
you into the weekend with a bit of this! | :00:08. | :00:10.
How the wild winter has led to calls for us to do more to protect people | :00:11. | :00:14.
on UK Coastlines. Plus the turtle with the fake fin. | :00:15. | :00:18.
You've got to keep watching Newsround! | :00:19. | :00:25.
First to a big debate about keeping killer whales in captivity. A group | :00:26. | :00:29.
of school girls have been involved in a campaign to stop the whales | :00:30. | :00:33.
being used in performances at their local Sea World Park in San Diego in | :00:34. | :00:37.
America. It has been supported by millions of people, but those who | :00:38. | :00:40.
work with the mammals insist keeping some away from their natural | :00:41. | :00:48.
environment is vital. Here's Ayshah. Killer whales are found in every | :00:49. | :00:52.
ocean on the planet. It brought 50 to 100,000 -- it is | :00:53. | :00:59.
thought 50 to 100,000 live in the wild. | :01:00. | :01:03.
Sea World own 29, but are facing criticism over their use of killer | :01:04. | :01:08.
whales in shows. These girls delivered over one million signature | :01:09. | :01:17.
supporting a ban, and campaigned to have their trip to Sea World | :01:18. | :01:21.
cancelled, but it didn't go down well with all their classmates. | :01:22. | :01:29.
He was very mad with me. I said would you rather see whales not | :01:30. | :01:34.
being treated right? Or see them in the ocean and go whale watching. The | :01:35. | :01:40.
question of whether to ban Sea World from using the killer whales is | :01:41. | :01:45.
being debated by lawmakers. They were expected to rule on an all out | :01:46. | :01:49.
ban this week, but say they will delay any decision while the | :01:50. | :01:52.
evidence is reviewed. Some believe it is cruel to have mammals as large | :01:53. | :01:57.
and intelligent as them in captivity and backed the petition. They don't | :01:58. | :02:01.
thrive and indeed, they suffer. Simply from being held in | :02:02. | :02:05.
confinement. No one is saying that their trainers are cruel to them, | :02:06. | :02:08.
their trainers love them, but they don't thrive in captivity. Those who | :02:09. | :02:15.
work with Sea World say what they do is vital for education and research. | :02:16. | :02:19.
The proposed Bill will cripple our ability to conduct vital research. | :02:20. | :02:23.
Much of the research that my colleagues and I conduct is not | :02:24. | :02:28.
possible in the wild. Any ruling would affect Sea World in dan Diego | :02:29. | :02:34.
and not other parts across America. It will be another year before a | :02:35. | :02:35.
decision is made. Australian officials say they're | :02:36. | :02:43.
confident that signals heard in the Indian Ocean are coming from the | :02:44. | :02:46.
black box of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane. Flight MH370 | :02:47. | :02:49.
disappeared mid-flight a month ago, something that's extremely rare. | :02:50. | :02:54.
Australia has been leading efforts to find the wreckage since then and | :02:55. | :02:57.
their Prime Minister says the signals are helping them narrow down | :02:58. | :03:03.
the search area. You can find out what a black box is | :03:04. | :03:07.
and why it is important in the search on the Newsround website now. | :03:08. | :03:12.
There is lots of help and advice if you find anything in the news | :03:13. | :03:19.
upsetting. Next the National Trust is calling | :03:20. | :03:23.
for a better plan to protect people from coastal erosion after heavy | :03:24. | :03:26.
storms and high tides last winter caused major damage to the UK's | :03:27. | :03:29.
seaside areas. Across the country several metres of land were filmed | :03:30. | :03:32.
falling into the sea. Many people who live in these areas want better | :03:33. | :03:35.
flood defences to stop the erosion. But the National Trust say it's | :03:36. | :03:39.
safer to move buildings and houses back and let nature take its course. | :03:40. | :03:43.
The White Cliffs that we see here today are beautiful because of | :03:44. | :03:48.
erosion. If there was noer osion, we would have green slopes running down | :03:49. | :03:51.
to the sea. It is the nature of the coast. There was a conservatory | :03:52. | :03:57.
standing on site and we were able to remove that part of the building | :03:58. | :04:01.
before it fell into the sea. The man behind the latest Spider-Man | :04:02. | :04:04.
mask says playing the webbed wonder is something his ten-year-old self | :04:05. | :04:07.
could only have dreamed of. The world premiere of the Amazing | :04:08. | :04:10.
Spider-Man 2 was held last night in London with 20 other screenings | :04:11. | :04:13.
across the UK. And star, Andrew Garfield said he was thrilled to be | :04:14. | :04:17.
playing such an iconic character. Wherever you are from and whoever | :04:18. | :04:21.
you are, male and female it doesn't matter. He stands for everybody. | :04:22. | :04:24.
That's why, I think, he is the greatest. | :04:25. | :04:28.
Finally to a turtle with a twist. After getting tangled up in a | :04:29. | :04:31.
fishing net and losing his back flippers, Freedom's swimming days | :04:32. | :04:34.
were over until carers in Israel gave him a prosthetic fin. It's | :04:35. | :04:39.
based on fish fins and strapped to the top of his shell. Freedom is an | :04:40. | :04:43.
endangered green turtle. It's hoped his new fin will get him swimming | :04:44. | :04:47.
again and bring him out of his shell! Newsround is back right here | :04:48. | :04:54.
in about half an hour. See you then. | :04:55. | :04:57. |
