How the wild winter has led to calls for us to do more to protect people

on UK Coastlines. Plus the turtle with the fake fin.

First to a big debate about keeping killer whales in captivity. A group

of school girls have been involved in a campaign to stop the whales

being used in performances at their local Sea World Park in San Diego in

America. It has been supported by millions of people, but those who

work with the mammals insist keeping some away from their natural

environment is vital. Here's Ayshah. Killer whales are found in every

ocean on the planet. It brought 50 to 100,000 -- it is

thought 50 to 100,000 live in the wild.

Sea World own 29, but are facing criticism over their use of killer

whales in shows. These girls delivered over one million signature

supporting a ban, and campaigned to have their trip to Sea World

cancelled, but it didn't go down well with all their classmates.

He was very mad with me. I said would you rather see whales not

being treated right? Or see them in the ocean and go whale watching. The

question of whether to ban Sea World from using the killer whales is

being debated by lawmakers. They were expected to rule on an all out

ban this week, but say they will delay any decision while the

evidence is reviewed. Some believe it is cruel to have mammals as large

and intelligent as them in captivity and backed the petition. They don't

thrive and indeed, they suffer. Simply from being held in

confinement. No one is saying that their trainers are cruel to them,

their trainers love them, but they don't thrive in captivity. Those who

work with Sea World say what they do is vital for education and research.

The proposed Bill will cripple our ability to conduct vital research.

Much of the research that my colleagues and I conduct is not

possible in the wild. Any ruling would affect Sea World in dan Diego

and not other parts across America. It will be another year before a

decision is made. Australian officials say they're

confident that signals heard in the Indian Ocean are coming from the

black box of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane. Flight MH370

disappeared mid-flight a month ago, something that's extremely rare.

Australia has been leading efforts to find the wreckage since then and

their Prime Minister says the signals are helping them narrow down

the search area. You can find out what a black box is

There is lots of help and advice if you find anything in the news

upsetting. Next the National Trust is calling

for a better plan to protect people from coastal erosion after heavy

storms and high tides last winter caused major damage to the UK's

seaside areas. Across the country several metres of land were filmed

falling into the sea. Many people who live in these areas want better

flood defences to stop the erosion. But the National Trust say it's

safer to move buildings and houses back and let nature take its course.

The White Cliffs that we see here today are beautiful because of

erosion. If there was noer osion, we would have green slopes running down

to the sea. It is the nature of the coast. There was a conservatory

standing on site and we were able to remove that part of the building

before it fell into the sea. The man behind the latest Spider-Man

mask says playing the webbed wonder is something his ten-year-old self

could only have dreamed of. The world premiere of the Amazing

Spider-Man 2 was held last night in London with 20 other screenings

across the UK. And star, Andrew Garfield said he was thrilled to be

playing such an iconic character. Wherever you are from and whoever

you are, male and female it doesn't matter. He stands for everybody.

That's why, I think, he is the greatest.

Finally to a turtle with a twist. After getting tangled up in a

fishing net and losing his back flippers, Freedom's swimming days

were over until carers in Israel gave him a prosthetic fin. It's

based on fish fins and strapped to the top of his shell. Freedom is an

endangered green turtle. It's hoped his new fin will get him swimming

again and bring him out of his shell! Newsround is back right here
