It's Saturday, I'm Jenny and you're watching Newsround live on CBBC. | 0:00:02 | 0:00:05
Coming up: | 0:00:05 | 0:00:07
Ore gives us a sneak peek behind the scenes | 0:00:07 | 0:00:10
of Strictly Come Dancing. | 0:00:10 | 0:00:12
Meet the orphan sea lion pups who are tasting freedom again. | 0:00:12 | 0:00:22
First, at Newsround HQ we've heard from some of you who are worried | 0:00:25 | 0:00:29
about people dressing as clowns to deliberately try | 0:00:29 | 0:00:31
and frighten others. | 0:00:31 | 0:00:32
You've told us there are lots of rumours about clowns | 0:00:32 | 0:00:34
going around at the moment so we decided to look at the facts. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:38
Ricky's been investigating. | 0:00:38 | 0:00:46
It started in the US and Canada, people dressing up as clowns and | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
scaring others. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:50
Now there have been reports from police of it happening | 0:00:50 | 0:00:54
here in the UK. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
Harmless fun? | 0:00:57 | 0:00:58
Well, not everyone thinks so. | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
Over the past few weeks, it has also spread | 0:01:00 | 0:01:03
online with lots of people posting videos on social media. | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
But now some parents say it is getting out of | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
hand and there are loads of rumours flying around, | 0:01:08 | 0:01:10
like clowns will come to your school | 0:01:10 | 0:01:12
if you don't share pictures of them. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:15
None of those are true. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:17
In the UK, a number of police forces say they are getting calls | 0:01:17 | 0:01:20
from people who have been frightened | 0:01:20 | 0:01:21
when they have seen people dressed as clowns. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:23
The police say there is nothing funny about it. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:28
The police, they've put extra patrols on, | 0:01:28 | 0:01:30
if anybody sees anything and if anybody is frightened, | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
ring straight away. | 0:01:32 | 0:01:33
The police will come, they don't mind if | 0:01:33 | 0:01:35
it was a joke and not a serious clown. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:38
And we have heard that some of you are a bit worried about this | 0:01:38 | 0:01:42
so we have been taking a closer look at this story and it is important | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
to say that these sightings are incredibly rare | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
and no one has been hurt. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
And even if it is just a few people having a bit of fun, | 0:01:49 | 0:01:52
the police say they are taking these incidents very seriously. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
They say anybody who dresses up as a clown | 0:01:55 | 0:01:59
to scare someone on purpose could get into a lot of trouble. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:07
If you are worried about people dressed as clowns then make sure | 0:02:07 | 0:02:10
you speak to an adult about it. | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
And if you are upset by the news, there's loads of advice over | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
at Newsround online. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:18
Next, ex-Newsround presenter Ore Oduba | 0:02:18 | 0:02:19
is starring in Strictly Come Dancing this year. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
He wowed us last week with his American Smooth, | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
but what's he doing this week? | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
Take a look at this. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:30
Hi, Newsround. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:31
It's Ore. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:32
We are at Strictly. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:33
It is week four, it is rehearsal day which means there is a | 0:02:33 | 0:02:36
lot to get through so let's come on in and find Laura. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:39
Hi. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:40 | |
Hi. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:41 | |
Who is a member of the production team who is going | 0:02:41 | 0:02:44
to talk me through everything that we have got to do today. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:46
OK. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:48 | |
What do we have to do, Laura? | 0:02:48 | 0:02:49
Come on. | 0:02:49 | 0:02:50
What have you got to do? | 0:02:50 | 0:02:52
OK. | 0:02:52 | 0:02:53 | |
So you have got your fitting first. | 0:02:53 | 0:02:54
Yes. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:55 | |
Till about half past and then you have a | 0:02:55 | 0:02:57
TV Times shoot at 11 in the banqueting hall. | 0:02:57 | 0:03:00
Oh! | 0:03:00 | 0:03:01 | |
Then you have got lunch and then you're going to | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
rehearse your block down the walk-through at one o'clock. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:05
OK. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:06 | |
So we've got a fitting first? | 0:03:06 | 0:03:08
You have. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:09
Wardrobe. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:10
OK, Laura, let's walk. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:11
It gets more glamorous as we go through. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
That's Ben, who is also a member of the team. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
Jo and I are doing the jive this week which is | 0:03:15 | 0:03:18
so full on, it is fast, it is frenetic but it is so Brilliant. | 0:03:18 | 0:03:21
But like Laura said, there is so much more | 0:03:21 | 0:03:23
to get very before we even get to rehearsing that today. | 0:03:23 | 0:03:26
So I've got To do a fitting first and that TV Times magazine shoot | 0:03:26 | 0:03:29
she talked about, it's basically Judge Rinder | 0:03:29 | 0:03:31
dressed as a vampire, me and Claudia Fragapane | 0:03:31 | 0:03:33
getting scared by him. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:34
That's just the life that you lead in | 0:03:34 | 0:03:36
Strictly Come Dancing. | 0:03:36 | 0:03:44
Now, with nights drawing in, there's a slight chill in the air - | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
autumn has arrived. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:48
But what does that mean for our animal friends who hibernate | 0:03:48 | 0:03:51
during the colder months? | 0:03:51 | 0:03:51
Well, over in Bristol, tortoise owners have been | 0:03:51 | 0:03:53
getting their pets ready for the big winter sleep. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:57
Meet Fred, she is 40 years young, | 0:03:57 | 0:03:59
likes letters and lives the high in Somerset. | 0:03:59 | 0:04:07
Here's Alfie, he's a youngster at 24, also likes lettuce and | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
enjoys a life of luxury in Gloucestershire. | 0:04:10 | 0:04:12
He has his own bedroom with his own light just | 0:04:12 | 0:04:14
because... | 0:04:14 | 0:04:15
And I feed him regularly, hand fed, just to make | 0:04:15 | 0:04:18
sure that he is fine. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:19
These two are joining lots of fellow tortoises | 0:04:19 | 0:04:21
here in Bristol for their big winter weigh in, a check-up to make sure | 0:04:21 | 0:04:24
they're healthy enough to hibernate. | 0:04:24 | 0:04:25
First off, they are given the once over by a vet. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
We're checking their eyes to make sure their eyes are nice and clear, | 0:04:28 | 0:04:34
checking their nose to make sure they don't have a runny nose, | 0:04:34 | 0:04:37
You can just about see inside that mouth just to make | 0:04:37 | 0:04:39
sure it's nice and pink and healthy. | 0:04:39 | 0:04:45
Full marks for both Fred and Alfie here. | 0:04:45 | 0:04:47
Next, they get measured and weighed to make sure they're | 0:04:47 | 0:04:50
healthy for their size. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:54
2.24kg. | 0:04:54 | 0:04:56
And is that about right for...? | 0:04:56 | 0:04:58
That looks about perfect. | 0:04:58 | 0:05:01
Once again, Fred and Alfie are in top shape! | 0:05:01 | 0:05:04
They can look forward to a nice sleep this winter | 0:05:04 | 0:05:07
but not for too long. | 0:05:07 | 0:05:09
In the wild they would hibernate for perhaps 2-12 weeks. | 0:05:09 | 0:05:11
A lot of people in this country presume they can put them down | 0:05:11 | 0:05:15
for six months which is not a good idea so by doing this, | 0:05:15 | 0:05:18
we can put them right and check on the tortoises before | 0:05:18 | 0:05:20
they go into hibernation. | 0:05:20 | 0:05:21
So, these two are all ready for bed. | 0:05:21 | 0:05:23
It's time to say good night to Fred and Alfie. | 0:05:23 | 0:05:33
Sweet dreams! | 0:05:38 | 0:05:39
Finally, nine orphan sea lions have been released back into the wild | 0:05:39 | 0:05:42
in Peru in South America. | 0:05:42 | 0:05:43
Overfishing is causing big problems for these animals and these guys had | 0:05:43 | 0:05:46
been rescued earlier this year after losing their mothers. | 0:05:46 | 0:05:48
They were released near a small island that already has big | 0:05:48 | 0:05:50
population of sea lions so let's hope they can make friends soon. | 0:05:50 | 0:05:53
That's all for now, see you again just after 1.30pm. | 0:05:53 | 0:06:01 |
