Hi, I'm Ayshah, welcome to Newsround.

0:00:110:00:13

Some sad news first this morning.

0:00:130:00:14

Tributes have been paid to a politician who's died.

0:00:140:00:17

Jo Cox, who was a Member of Parliament, was killed

0:00:170:00:19

after an attack yesterday near where she was working

0:00:190:00:22

in Birstall in West Yorkshire.

0:00:220:00:25

Vigils have been held to remember her and many people have

0:00:250:00:28

been giving their tributes, including the Prime

0:00:280:00:30

Minister David Cameron.

0:00:300:00:33

We've lost a great star.

0:00:330:00:36

She was an MP, a great campaigning MP with huge compassion,

0:00:360:00:41

with a big heart, and people are going to be very,

0:00:410:00:44

very sad about what has happened.

0:00:440:00:48

I thought she was very beautiful.

0:00:480:00:51

And I think she did the right job to, I think she did the right

0:00:510:00:56

thing to pick that job.

0:00:560:00:58

Well, the BBC's John Maguire is in Birstall this morning

0:00:580:01:01

and he sent Newsround this report.

0:01:010:01:05

This is the village of Birstall, this is where the MP Jo Cox

0:01:050:01:08

was about to take a constituency surgery yesterday which is something

0:01:080:01:12

MPs do every week.

0:01:120:01:14

They meet, sit down with local people who will have voted for them,

0:01:140:01:18

some of course may not have voted for them.

0:01:180:01:20

This, some of the floral tributes that have been laid by people.

0:01:200:01:24

And they get a very good idea of the type of work she did.

0:01:240:01:28

She worked hard for women's causes, for refugees, she had also

0:01:280:01:32

been a charity worker, working around the world in some

0:01:320:01:35

war-torn countries in previous years.

0:01:350:01:37

And many of the tribute and comments there reflect that.

0:01:370:01:41

What's very clear is that she was very respected and very loved

0:01:410:01:44

in her local constituency.

0:01:440:01:48

Thanks, John.

0:01:480:01:49

Now it's important to remember that these events are extremely rare.

0:01:490:01:52

And if anything you see or hear in the news does upset you,

0:01:520:01:56

then go to Newsround online for advice on what you should do.

0:01:560:02:01

In other news, two home nations were celebrating

0:02:010:02:03

their success at the Euros.

0:02:030:02:05

First, Northern Ireland beat Ukraine, 2-0.

0:02:050:02:07

Naz was in Northern Ireland to watch the game.

0:02:070:02:12

As soon as it kicked off, my heart was racing.

0:02:150:02:18

Here he is, Conor Washington, the unknown quantity, if you like.

0:02:180:02:21

The first half, it was very nerve wracking.

0:02:210:02:25

Ukraine were putting a lot of effort in and getting a lot of chances.

0:02:270:02:31

It got a bit frustrating at times because we got so close to the net

0:02:310:02:34

and just didn't get any goals because the goalkeepers

0:02:340:02:37

were playing so good.

0:02:370:02:41

At 49 minutes through, McAuley, there was a breakthrough goal,

0:02:430:02:47

he just headed it straight into the back of the net.

0:02:470:02:49

And that's it from McAuley.

0:02:490:02:51

Had such good control, just amazing.

0:02:510:02:57

These are about the worst conditions I can remember seeing

0:03:000:03:03

in tournament football.

0:03:030:03:05

Suddenly the ref blew his whistle and all the players

0:03:050:03:07

started going off.

0:03:070:03:09

And we were all quite confused until we saw the hail stones

0:03:090:03:12

and it was quite bad.

0:03:120:03:13

And then McGinn scored the last goal, ten seconds to go.

0:03:130:03:17

Everyone was just screaming.

0:03:260:03:28

Whenever the full-time whistle had gone, they went absolutely cuckoo.

0:03:280:03:33

1-0 would have been good, but 2-0, that's such a good feeling.

0:03:330:03:39

Northern Ireland, I think, will get into the last 16.

0:03:390:03:42

To win the Euros, it would just be amazing.

0:03:420:03:45

It would be like a dream come true.

0:03:450:03:47

Just everyone would go nuts.

0:03:470:03:49

I'd be speechless.

0:03:490:03:52

Like, it's the second smallest country in the competition.

0:03:520:03:57

Like, for them to win it would be incredible.

0:03:570:04:01

If they win, oh, my, I went crazy when they won one match.

0:04:010:04:04

If they won the Euros, I don't know what I'd be like.

0:04:040:04:08

I might faint.

0:04:080:04:10

Northern Ireland!

0:04:100:04:12

Northern Ireland!

0:04:120:04:14

And in the other big match, England came out on top

0:04:140:04:17

with a 2-1 win over Wales.

0:04:170:04:18

I was on the English/Welsh border with fans of both teams who watched

0:04:180:04:22

the match at school.

0:04:220:04:23

Here's what they thought.

0:04:230:04:24

I think it went really well for England.

0:04:240:04:26

We were dominant in the first half and the second half.

0:04:260:04:29

We were overall the best team in there.

0:04:290:04:30

It was a good match, England were a good side

0:04:300:04:33

but we should have drawn.

0:04:330:04:34

I think it was amazing, I think everything about

0:04:340:04:36

it fitted perfectly.

0:04:360:04:37

Horrendous, knowing we had gone 2-1 down and there

0:04:370:04:39

was nothing we could do.

0:04:390:04:40

Tried to put a late header in but it didn't work.

0:04:400:04:43

In the second half we were just on another level.

0:04:430:04:46

Daniel Sturridge, Marcus Rashford played well on his debut.

0:04:460:04:49

So I think England were by far the best team.

0:04:490:04:54

That's all from me for now.

0:04:540:04:55

I'll be back in half an hour.
