Good afternoon, I'm Jenny, live with all the top stories

The nominations for the biggest movie awards in the world,

the Oscars, were announced last week - but they've proved

Lots of people aren't happy, and many have criticised the awards

Some have even said they'll be staying at home, instead of coming

Last year, a film about Martin Luther King, Selma,

was celebrated for how it told the story about the fight for black

people to be treated the same as white people in America

The star of the film David Oyelowo who played Martin Luther King

It got people talking but this year it has happened again.

For 20 opportunities to celebrate actors of colour,

actresses of colour, to be missed last year is one thing

but for that to happen again this year is unforgivable.

He is talking about the 20 people nominated in the acting categories

like Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress.

The actress Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith's wife,

I will not be at the Academy Awards and will not be watching.

The way nominations work is by voting.

A group of people who are members of the Academy all get to vote

There are over 6,000 members who vote on everything from the big

awards like best actor and actress to the smaller awards

However, according to a report, most of the members of the Academy,

The head of the Oscars says in a statement

that she is heartbroken and frustrated.

She wants the Academy membership to become more diverse which means

involving people from different cultures.

What we really need is the support of the industry across the board,

So, hopefully future Oscar nominations will not cause

Joining me on the sofa now is BBC Enterntainment Correspondent,

It is not just black actors missing. No Hispanic actors, the big

embarrassment for the Academy the lack of black actors, very popular

films as black stars, creed and the only actor nominated was white and a

black hip-hop movie was very popular and not nominated for Best picture,

the only nomination was for the white writers. It seems to be a

problem with the Oscars, not any other awards. Black people have one

at the Oscars in the past with nominations but it has been a bad

couple of years. In the past, the Black entertainment awards were set

up and oboes to make sure that our award shows with black people

nominated. The Oscars need to change.

Moving on, to these two surfers in Australia,

who have developed a new invention which is designed to collect rubbish

Rubbish in the ocean can cause real problems for sea-life.

Eight million tonnes of plastic goes into the world's oceans every year

and experts say it poses serious risks, especially to birds

and animals like turtles, dolphins and whales.

A pair of surfers from Perth, Australia, have invented a nifty

tool which they hope might help to reduce the problem.

Pete and Andrew have created the seabin.

Its special design means that rubbish floating on the water

The lining inside is then lifted out and the rubbish

Just now the seabin is used in ports and harbours which are areas

that the tide and winds push rubbish in to.

The guys are hoping to raise money for the project

A process where people can give money to support things
