Leah here with the top stories this Tuesday. | :00:10. | :00:13.
First, Great Britain's Paralympic stars are arriving home | :00:14. | :00:15.
from Rio this morning, after their most successful Games | :00:16. | :00:18.
They're due to touch down shortly at London's Heathrow Airport, | :00:19. | :00:23.
good morning. Welcome to Heathrow Airport. We are just waiting, | :00:24. | :00:41.
moments away from them touching down, at 9am. We are all very | :00:42. | :00:46.
excited. They have been on the aeroplane, taking self these, and | :00:47. | :00:50.
they are coming back home. They have done really well, 147 medals, 64 of | :00:51. | :01:01.
them gold. I have the family of codeine cox here. Sister, sister and | :01:02. | :01:10.
auntie. How proud you? Extremely proud. Over the moon. And what has | :01:11. | :01:19.
it been like watching her on TV? Amazing watching her achieve her | :01:20. | :01:25.
goal. Ecstatic. Tell us where you've come from to get here to Heathrow. | :01:26. | :01:31.
From Leeds. It has been a long journey. How long did it take? Three | :01:32. | :01:39.
hours. But you did it for kiddie Ina? Yes. What will you do when she | :01:40. | :01:49.
gets home? We will have a party. I'm sure there will be a big party for | :01:50. | :01:53.
loads of the other Paralympians coming home today, so that's going | :01:54. | :01:57.
to be at 9am, really shortly. Thank you so much. | :01:58. | :02:00.
It's that time of year where grey seal pups are being born on beaches | :02:01. | :02:03.
around the UK as pupping season gets going. | :02:04. | :02:05.
But experts in Cornwall in the south-west of England | :02:06. | :02:08.
are worried because some of these little guys are being forced | :02:09. | :02:10.
Ayshah's been looking into this for us. | :02:11. | :02:17.
The golden beaches and rocky coves of the UK coast are home to 38% | :02:18. | :02:20.
of the world's population of grey seals. | :02:21. | :02:24.
If you're lucky, you might spot them out at sea | :02:25. | :02:30.
or hauled out on beaches, having a nap. | :02:31. | :02:32.
But Snoozy has had a tough time after he was pushed back | :02:33. | :02:39.
into the sea by passers by who thought that was | :02:40. | :02:41.
Young seals are very small when they come out of their mothers and they | :02:42. | :02:57.
don't have much muscle, so they are poor swimmers, so you should not put | :02:58. | :03:00.
them back in the water. They are very rare, there are about the same | :03:01. | :03:04.
number of them as there are African elephants in the world, so it is | :03:05. | :03:09.
important we look after them here and make sure as many of them | :03:10. | :03:13.
survive as possible. We just got a call about a rescue, so we're going | :03:14. | :03:18.
to the sanctuary to find out what is going on. | :03:19. | :03:40.
He was out on his own, without his mum, so they are going to make sure | :03:41. | :03:48.
he's OK. We got a call about a young seal that was potentially distress. | :03:49. | :03:55.
It was between some rocks, trapped, and it was underweight. What would | :03:56. | :04:04.
you say to people who see a baby seal on the beach. Some people think | :04:05. | :04:09.
they need to chase it akin to the water or put it back into the water | :04:10. | :04:13.
by pushing it, which is the wrong thing to do. Leave it alone, keep | :04:14. | :04:19.
well back, keep dogs away, then call us and we'll come and check it. The | :04:20. | :04:25.
sanctuary have called the new arrival orca. He is doing well and | :04:26. | :04:30.
will probably be released in a few months. What the team want to do is | :04:31. | :04:35.
to avoid them coming in the first place, by reading them well alone in | :04:36. | :04:36.
the wild. Newsround's back right | :04:37. | :04:39.
here in about half an hour, when we'll have Paralympic champion | :04:40. | :04:42.
Jonnie Peacock live in the studio. There's still time to | :04:43. | :04:44.
send us a question - go online now to tell | :04:45. | :04:47.
us what you wanna ask! | :04:48. | :04:50. |
