Hey, eveyone, Leah here with your Saturday Newsround. | 0:00:03 | 0:00:05
Keep watching because... | 0:00:05 | 0:00:08
It's Strictly Saturday and Ore's hot.... | 0:00:08 | 0:00:13
but Brendan's not. | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15
And the three heroes helping hedgehogs. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:18
And scientists use a drone to spot a rare bowhead whale. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:21
First up, we're already getting excited for week five | 0:00:31 | 0:00:34
of Strictly Come Dancing tonight, but professional dancer Brendan Cole | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
won't be taking part. | 0:00:36 | 0:00:40
He's missed training all week as he's been ill. | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
His celebrity partner Anastasia has been practising with Tameka's | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
ex-professional, Gorka. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:48
And now he'll step in on the live show, too. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:52
Now, not that we have any favourites on this show, | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
but last week's big star was ex-Newsround presenter | 0:00:54 | 0:00:56
Ore Oduba, who has surprised us all with his moves. | 0:00:56 | 0:00:59
Ore's busy with practice but he managed to send us this. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:05
Hi, Newsround, it's Ore, and... Hi! | 0:01:05 | 0:01:08
You might recognise this gal from Saturday night. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:13
We are in rehearsal day. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:15
Believe it or not, there is a lot of work that | 0:01:15 | 0:01:18
goes into this show, of course, but you need to | 0:01:18 | 0:01:20
also rehearse... Where to stand. | 0:01:20 | 0:01:22
..standing. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:23
And walking downstairs, so these stairs behind us, we have | 0:01:23 | 0:01:25
to practice walking down them. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:27
Jo and I are dancing the waltz this week, which is very different | 0:01:27 | 0:01:32
to what we did last week, the jive, and to get... | 0:01:32 | 0:01:35
What did we get last week, Jo? | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
39. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:38 | |
We got 39. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:39
We got 39! | 0:01:39 | 0:01:42
Biggest score in week four in the history of Strictly. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
Wow! | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47 | |
Shh - don't tell anyone! | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
Erm...which is amazing. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:50
We had the best time last week, and hopefully we'll have | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
another great week. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:57
But thank you for all your support. | 0:01:57 | 0:01:59
We will see you Saturday night, BBC One. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:00
Hopefully we'll be back for another week. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:02
Bye! | 0:02:02 | 0:02:09 | |
It's been a topsy turvy day three in England's third test | 0:02:09 | 0:02:12
against Sri Lanka in Bangladesh. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:13
After taking four wickets for 21 runs this morning, | 0:02:13 | 0:02:15
England looked to be in a very strong position, but Sri Lanka | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
hit back taking five wickets in 27 overs. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:24
England have now steadied the ship somewhat and have a lead of 258 runs | 0:02:24 | 0:02:27
with the score currently at 213-7. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:31
In football, Tottenham have a chance this lunchtime, | 0:02:31 | 0:02:33
to go top of the league. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:34
For a few hours at least. | 0:02:34 | 0:02:36
They travel to the Vitality Stadium to play Bournemouth and kick off | 0:02:36 | 0:02:39
is in about half an hour. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:41
Here's the Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:45
It is a good opportunity to see us on the top of the table. | 0:02:45 | 0:02:49
But first of all, we need to win the game. | 0:02:49 | 0:02:52
And in front we have a very good team, a great manager | 0:02:52 | 0:02:58
like Eddie Howe, and it | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
will be a very tough game. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:05
Now, when was the last time you saw a hedgehog? | 0:03:05 | 0:03:08
Last week? | 0:03:08 | 0:03:09
Last month? | 0:03:09 | 0:03:10
Ever? | 0:03:10 | 0:03:11 | |
Well, research carried out by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust has | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
found there has been a huge drop in the number | 0:03:13 | 0:03:16
of hedgehogs in the UK. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:17
Martin has been investigating. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:20
Hedgehogs. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:21
They're cute and prickly, but life in busy towns and cities | 0:03:21 | 0:03:24
can present some real dangers for our spiky friends. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:29
So what being done to help them? | 0:03:29 | 0:03:31
Sanctuaries like this one just go to show the problems these little | 0:03:31 | 0:03:34
guys face in the big wide world. | 0:03:34 | 0:03:38
Anne has about 80 to 90 hedgehogs here, all tucked up safe and warm. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:41
They come from various sources. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:46
Usually found by people who bring them to us. | 0:03:46 | 0:03:48
We have abandoned babies. | 0:03:48 | 0:03:49
Babies that have wandered off and got lost. | 0:03:49 | 0:03:59
Injuries through netting, strimmers, and road accidents. | 0:03:59 | 0:04:01
We also have sick ones that are found lying in people's | 0:04:01 | 0:04:04
gardens, obviously unwell. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:05
We try and get them up to weight as soon as possible. | 0:04:05 | 0:04:08
And then we release them. | 0:04:08 | 0:04:09
25-year-old Ali is the youngest hedgehog officer in the UK, | 0:04:09 | 0:04:11
and it's her job to link up these areas of green space, | 0:04:11 | 0:04:14
to give hedgehogs the chance to move around freely and safely | 0:04:14 | 0:04:17
when the come out at night to feed. | 0:04:17 | 0:04:20
We've obviously got lots of great parks across the town. | 0:04:20 | 0:04:24
But also lots of houses and walls, making it difficult for them to get | 0:04:24 | 0:04:29
between these great habitats. | 0:04:29 | 0:04:32
We are trying to get volunteers on board who will manage | 0:04:32 | 0:04:39
their gardens for the hedgehogs, and will hopefully persuade | 0:04:39 | 0:04:41
their neighbours to do the same. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:42
So we have these whole streets of connected gardens | 0:04:42 | 0:04:45
that the hedgehogs will be able to easily navigate their way through. | 0:04:45 | 0:04:48
We've got a hole down here so they can get | 0:04:48 | 0:04:50
through to the other gardens. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:52
Ten-year-old Daisy is one of the many people from across | 0:04:52 | 0:04:59
the UK are doing their bit to help the hedgehogs. | 0:04:59 | 0:05:01
It's important to take care of hedgehogs because they are | 0:05:01 | 0:05:04
endangered and I want them to be around when I'm older. | 0:05:04 | 0:05:06
I've been making it somewhere that's the hedgehogs can come and live in, | 0:05:06 | 0:05:11
stay and get some food and . | 0:05:11 | 0:05:20
-- and hibernate. | 0:05:20 | 0:05:26
I've made some houses, and I give them water and give | 0:05:26 | 0:05:28
them food and mealworms. | 0:05:28 | 0:05:29
Anyone my age that wants to do it, I'd say, yes, they can do it | 0:05:29 | 0:05:33
because the more help that we have, the more hedgehogs there will be. | 0:05:33 | 0:05:36
And finally, scientists in Canada say they've capture rare footage | 0:05:36 | 0:05:38
of a bowhead whale - one of of the country's | 0:05:38 | 0:05:41
largest marine mammals. | 0:05:41 | 0:05:42
They used HD drone technology to help get researchers | 0:05:42 | 0:05:46
closer to the creatures to understand their food and travel | 0:05:46 | 0:05:49
habits in the Arctic Circle where they're found. | 0:05:49 | 0:05:53
That's all from me. | 0:05:53 | 0:05:55
Newsround's back right here in at 1.40. | 0:05:55 | 0:05:58 |
