Hayley here with your Friday Newsround update.

:00:00.:00:00.

One of golf's biggest stars wants the Ryder Cup.

:00:07.:00:11.

Warhorse author Michael Murpurgo is live, answering your questions.

:00:12.:00:14.

First, millions of people around the globe will be watching

:00:15.:00:24.

the first day of the famous Ryder Cup today and the world's number one

:00:25.:00:30.

The competition pitches Europe's best players against those

:00:31.:00:33.

Rory's had an amazing year, so Ricky jetted off to find out what impact

:00:34.:00:38.

his success has had on his hometown of Holywood in Northern Ireland.

:00:39.:00:47.

You know you have made it in the business when you have got

:00:48.:00:55.

your own driver, someone to carry your bags and a set of wheels.

:00:56.:01:01.

But this is not America, this is Holywood in Northern Ireland,

:01:02.:01:04.

The Irishman has been coming to this golf club ever

:01:05.:01:12.

Back then he was so good, the club lowered the joining age from 12 to 8

:01:13.:01:21.

Today you will find a museum in his honour and replicas

:01:22.:01:27.

He is still only 25, but already he has achieved more than most

:01:28.:01:33.

When Rory grew up here, he was basically born into the club almost,

:01:34.:01:45.

When he was seven or eight he was better than everyone, he was

:01:46.:01:50.

He's very good, he called in after he won the Open Championship this

:01:51.:01:55.

year with the claret jug and some members got their photograph taken.

:01:56.:01:58.

He is ranked number one in the world.

:01:59.:02:00.

He is one of the youngest ever players to win three of the four

:02:01.:02:03.

And he has received an MBE from the Queen.

:02:04.:02:07.

These young golfers are hoping to one day follow in Rory's footsteps.

:02:08.:02:12.

He is a great inspiration and the fact he lives so close,

:02:13.:02:15.

it makes us want to play golf and our dream is to be as good as him.

:02:16.:02:20.

I would like to be a PGA professional.

:02:21.:02:26.

McIlroy has put this place on the map.

:02:27.:02:29.

And he has inspired loads of young golfers to take up the sport.

:02:30.:02:33.

While I am a bit new to all this, I don't think it will be long

:02:34.:02:37.

David Cameron's asking politicians to vote later on whether the UK

:02:38.:02:58.

should join in military action against

:02:59.:03:00.

IS has taken over large parts of Iraq and Syria

:03:01.:03:06.

and wants to create a new country with strict Islamic rules.

:03:07.:03:09.

America has already carried out some targeted air strikes on IS and

:03:10.:03:12.

US President Barack Obama has asked other countries to work together to

:03:13.:03:14.

If the vote approves military action, RAF Tornado jets could

:03:15.:03:20.

Now take a look at this baby meerkat.

:03:21.:03:31.

Keepers at an animal rescue centre in Penrith, in Cumbria, say it was

:03:32.:03:34.

They had no idea the mother was pregnant until

:03:35.:03:37.

The sanctuary's about to move to a new site in

:03:38.:03:41.

County Durham, and this new family will be the last to move over.

:03:42.:03:47.

And loads of you have sent in questions for War Horse author

:03:48.:03:50.

He's written a new book marking 100 years since

:03:51.:03:53.

We'll be chatting to him in just a second.

:03:54.:03:57.

Here's a quick look at his work so far.

:03:58.:03:59.

He is one of Britain's best loved authors.

:04:00.:04:03.

Writer of more than 100 books, the winner of a Blue Peter book award.

:04:04.:04:07.

Selling more than 30 million copies worldwide,

:04:08.:04:12.

What an introduction. Welcome to new shows. What an introduction. What is

:04:13.:04:30.

your new book about? It was inspired by the sinking of a ship in 1915, it

:04:31.:04:39.

was rather like the Titanic and it was carrying passengers from New

:04:40.:04:42.

York to Liverpool and it was sunk by a German U-boat. My story is of a

:04:43.:04:49.

survivor from the Lusitania. Is it quite a sad story? Some questions

:04:50.:04:54.

from children. What is your inspiration for the story? A medal

:04:55.:05:00.

my wife had she was -- when she was growing up. It is a big medal which

:05:01.:05:05.

the Germans produced celebrating the sinking of the ship which was

:05:06.:05:09.

terrible because 1000 people died. It is a terrible medal because on

:05:10.:05:13.

the back of it it has got people queueing up to buy tickets for the

:05:14.:05:17.

ship and a skeleton serving them with the ticket to get on the ship.

:05:18.:05:21.

It is full. You can stop looking at it. I discovered when I was older, I

:05:22.:05:30.

don't write a story about this. Why have you decided to take World War I

:05:31.:05:37.

as your inspiration? I was born in 1943, I don't remember the Second

:05:38.:05:40.

World War but I remember the effects of war. I remember very sad people

:05:41.:05:44.

who had lost relations and I remember the bombed buildings. And

:05:45.:05:50.

therefore war interested me. And it appals me as well so I continue to

:05:51.:05:55.

write about it, whether it is World War I or World War II. It has been

:05:56.:06:01.

lovely speaking to you. We will speak to you later. Goodbye.

:06:02.:06:03.
