Hi, I'm Leah here with you this Thursday morning Newsround. | 0:00:05 | 0:00:08
Coming up: We give you the lowdown on Fifa 17. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:12
And we show you how coral bleaching has become a problem | 0:00:12 | 0:00:14
in the Maldives. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:17
First this morning, he was only in charge for one game, | 0:00:25 | 0:00:34
but ex-England football manager Sam Allardyce now resigned, | 0:00:36 | 0:00:38
and former England captain Alan Shearer says | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
England are the "laughing stock" of world football. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:43
So, what can the team do to improve? | 0:00:43 | 0:00:45
And who should take over next? | 0:00:45 | 0:00:46
Kids in Bolton, where Sam lives, told us what they think. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
I think England as a team could get better by working | 0:00:49 | 0:00:51
together and passing more, the couples work on the | 0:00:51 | 0:00:53
attacking strengths. | 0:00:53 | 0:00:57
They can work together as one nation and support each other through | 0:00:57 | 0:00:59
the new difficulties in time. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:01
I think Alan Pardew should be the new England manager | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03
because he already has a lot of experience of playing football | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
and managing a team. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:12
I think David Beckham could be a really good manager, | 0:01:12 | 0:01:16
because he played for England, and he played for big | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
teams like real Madrid, PSG and Manchester United. | 0:01:19 | 0:01:20
I think the next English manager should be Alan Shearer, | 0:01:20 | 0:01:23
because he is a great role model and he has very good experience. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:27
He could find the players' weaknesses and turn | 0:01:27 | 0:01:28
them into strengths. | 0:01:28 | 0:01:30
I think they have a good manager who can show them | 0:01:30 | 0:01:33
where the negatives are and where the positive side, | 0:01:33 | 0:01:35
and they can improve and get better. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:40
New players. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:41
New kits. | 0:01:41 | 0:01:42
New boots. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:43
If you're a gaming fan, then you'll know exactly | 0:01:43 | 0:01:45
what I'm talking about. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:46
Fifa 17 has been released, and with new attacking techniques | 0:01:46 | 0:01:48
and improved artificial intelligence, it's got fans excited. | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
Here's Radio 1 Newsbeat reporter Steffan Powell with more. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
Instead of me telling you about it, why don't I show you how it's done? | 0:01:53 | 0:01:57
One of the main changes they've introduced this year is a thing | 0:01:57 | 0:02:00
called a driven shot. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:01
So you know sometimes when you are like one-on-one | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
with the keeper and you do the finesse shot top corner, | 0:02:03 | 0:02:06
and it works every time? | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
Well, now you have the option of doing a driven shot, | 0:02:09 | 0:02:12
hit it nice and low, bottom corner, straight at the keeper, | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
whatever you want to do. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:15
A driven shot. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
You can also head the ball downwards, so whereas before your | 0:02:18 | 0:02:21
options when it came to heading have been a bit more limited | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
than some of the other shots. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
Now when you get across, go on, Navas. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
Just blocked it. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:30
One of the biggest things you'll notice when you are playing | 0:02:30 | 0:02:35
the new Fifa is not necessarily how you're playing but how | 0:02:35 | 0:02:38
the players you're playing with a playing as well. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:42
They have changed the artificial intelligence, and so players make | 0:02:42 | 0:02:44
better runs, more different runs, so you are looking for options, | 0:02:44 | 0:02:47
it is easier to pass the ball. | 0:02:47 | 0:02:49
Sorry, I am just trying to make sure I don't concede a goal | 0:02:49 | 0:02:52
there. | 0:02:52 | 0:02:53
Oh, no! | 0:02:53 | 0:02:54
Phew. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:55 | |
Put it wide. | 0:02:55 | 0:02:56
Finally we're off to the Maldives in the Indian Ocean, | 0:02:57 | 0:02:59
where more than 60% of coral reefs have been left damaged by pollution | 0:02:59 | 0:03:02
and rising temperatures. | 0:03:02 | 0:03:03
And it's a problem facing the rest of the world, too. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:06
Here's Naz. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:08
Clear blue seas and beautiful beaches. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:10
This is the Maldives. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:15
But what lies beneath the beautiful water is a different story. | 0:03:18 | 0:03:22
It should be full of these - bright, colourful, healthy coral | 0:03:22 | 0:03:25
reefs which fish live in. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:29
But climate change means we've had warmer summers, | 0:03:29 | 0:03:30
and now lots of the coral here is damaged. | 0:03:30 | 0:03:35
The Maldives is made only of corals, and if the corals won't survive, | 0:03:35 | 0:03:38
the Maldives won't survive. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:41
It's called coral bleaching. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:44
It happens when the water temperature gets a couple of degrees | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
hotter than normal for two weeks or more. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:49
The coral changes colour to white, and it's left damaged. | 0:03:49 | 0:03:56
And it's not the only place in the world affected. | 0:03:56 | 0:03:58
Australia's famous Great Barrier Reef has had plenty | 0:03:58 | 0:04:00
of its coral reef damaged. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:03
Then there's Hawaii and Japan. | 0:04:03 | 0:04:07
These experts from Sea Life Centres in the UK and Germany have travelled | 0:04:07 | 0:04:11
thousands of miles to help the Maldives. | 0:04:11 | 0:04:15
We have just come back from the first snorkel of the trip. | 0:04:15 | 0:04:23
It's the first chance we've had to see the frames that were put | 0:04:23 | 0:04:26
in the water last year. | 0:04:26 | 0:04:27
It's not been great. | 0:04:27 | 0:04:28
There was some growth, so fragments were attached | 0:04:28 | 0:04:30
with the cable ties, and the corals have overgrown | 0:04:30 | 0:04:32
the cable ties, which is a good thing. | 0:04:32 | 0:04:34
Our contribution to the Maldives is 75 square metres of coral reef. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:37
It is the advancement of a project that is going to regenerate the reef | 0:04:37 | 0:04:40
after such a horrific bleaching event. | 0:04:40 | 0:04:42
It's hoped work like this will one day reverse some of the damage, | 0:04:42 | 0:04:45
giving fish here a healthy, happy home to live in once again. | 0:04:45 | 0:04:48
That's all from me. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:51
Newsround's back right here in about half an hour. | 0:04:51 | 0:04:56 |
