It's already been Christmas, though.

Kicking off our reminiscent ramble through 2016,

with his favourite show of the year, it's the one, the only Bear...

Yeah, I meant Myles. I meant Myles.

Some of the biggest events have happened this year.

Like, I went paint-balling for the first-ever time,

and I made the most delicious cheesecake.

But enough about me and how great 2016 has been,

because CBBC has had a great lot to offer as well.

My favourite show of the year being Naomi's Nightmares Of Nature.

Oh, what a... Oh, what a selection, what a pick!

A medical shark...that cleans!

He's cleaning beaches!

He never can, though. Sand everywhere.

When this show shows off some of its scariest of creatures,

it strangely makes me feel quite alive.

I think it's because I'm, like, jumping at all the creepy stuff,

but then I'm just like, "Oh, I'm not there. Oh, that's quite nice."

It's got three hearts, nine brains and can measure eight metres across.

The giant Pacific octopus is a nightmare to behold.

How much does it want to pump blood around its body?

It's like it's running a business! Imagine if you're in the water

and you start hearing that octopus around you.

Is it an octopus or are you about to just burst into a big party?

RHYTHMIC BEATING

This is the weirdest creature ever.

-Would you like to pet her?

-No.

Imagine if all of these arms were on you, you can't,

you wouldn't be able to get away.

Imagine a small animal.

All right, think about all the small animals that are watching at home!

Without a doubt, though, Naomi's Nightmares Of Nature

is the show that gives me the most reactions.

I'll demonstrate just a few of them now.

At number five, you lovely lot at home pitched in and helped to design

Bl1nk Bot, our brand-new robotic friend at CBBC HQ.

In at number four, after an intense competition,

our super-talented Got What It Takes winner Amaria wowed the crowd

as she took the stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend.

Amaria has triumphed at the Big Weekend.

It was excellent. Everything went to plan.

I just want to do it again.

At number three, a shocking secret was revealed

when Jana and the Wolfblood gang

finally exposed their true wolfy selves to the world.

and, to be honest, I shouldn't really have to explain myself,

the show's animation is so cool and colourful that you can't help but

enjoy it. Take Danger Mouse's super-cool car,

his epic headquarters, the gadgets he uses, London itself!

London, city of shining architectural wonders -

the Gherkin, the Tennis Racket...

Hold up! London gets an Eye, a Gherkin,

but we can't get a tennis racket?! London's so much better drawn.

Ta-da!

The show's theme song is so good that you're already mega-pumped

by the time the show starts.

I was happy being the biggest TV star in Transylvania,

but, thanks to you, now I NEED to be the biggest star in the world!

We're on holiday, having a nice, relaxing...

Well done, CBBC.

Not only did you bring Danger Mouse back, but you've made it better.

Now, this year has flown by faster than that bus does

when I'm late for my tea.

2016 saw some spectacular events and wonderful achievements,

and Newsround was there to document them all.

2016 was an unforgettable year for many,

especially astronaut Tim Peake, who quite literally began on a high,

becoming the first British person ever to take part in a spacewalk.

And he wasn't the only one making history.

Justin Bieber has made chart history by sitting at number one,

number two and number three in the UK singles charts.

In fact, it was a great start to the year for Bieber,

as he picked up the International Male Solo Artist award at the

star-studded Brit Awards in February.

It was a sparkling affair.

Winner of The Voice 2016 is...

Kevin!

And Kevin Simm was crowned the fifth champion of The Voice UK.

There were new champions in May, too.

Leicester City are Premier League champions.

We've waited 132 years for it,

so, the whole town's come out!

The UK didn't fare so well at the Eurovision Song Contest

later in the month, though, as we finished in 24th place.

It was a good night for the Ukraine, though,

winning the contest for the second time with an emotional performance

by singer Jamala.

And we have the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016!

Thousands of people around the UK have celebrated

the Queen's 90th birthday.

There was a huge picnic on The Mall and a fly-past from the Red Arrows.

All eyes were back on Europe a few days later,

as the continent came together to celebrate all things football

for Euro 2016. Three of the four home nations battled it out,

with Wales stealing the show

to make a shock appearance in the semifinals,

eventually losing out to Portugal, who would later win the cup.

Touchdown confirmed.

In Kazakhstan, Tim Peake landed safely on Earth.

He was just in time for the result of the EU referendum.

We're absolutely clear now

that there is no way that the Remain side can win.

The UK had officially voted to leave the European Union.

That wasn't the only shock...

I do not think it would be right for me to try to be the captain

that steers our country to its next destination.

..as David Cameron announced

he would be resigning as the Prime Minister.

July saw another celebration.

Nasa's Juno spacecraft has successfully gone into orbit

around Jupiter after an epic five-year journey.

It was a make-or-break moment,

but, thankfully, it all went to plan and the spacecraft will continue

learning about Jupiter until February 2018.

We will make Britain a country

that works not for a privileged few, but for every one of us.

Back here on Earth, it was announced that Theresa May would take over

from David Cameron and become the UK's second female Prime Minister.

The summer of sport continued in August

when the Brazilian capital Rio hosted the 30th Olympic Games.

And it was the best-ever Olympics for Team GB

as they surpassed their medal count

of London 2012, finishing in second place

with a total of 67 medals.

The focus remained on Rio in September,

when the Paralympic Games kicked off

with a breathtaking opening ceremony.

It was another successful tournament for the UK,

as Para GB overtook their Olympic counterparts,

finishing second in the table with a whopping 147 medals.

-And as the leaves began to fall in October,

a new champion of The Great British Bake Off was crowned

in the form of Candice.

And on CBBC, Junior Bake Off kicked off,

with Nikki becoming the eventual champion.

In the last few minutes,

it's been confirmed that Donald Trump

is going to be the next President of the USA.

I pledge to every citizen of our land

that I will be President for all Americans.

He's there!

Straight sets again!

Andy Murray became the first British tennis player to achieve the ranking

of world number one.

And Children in Need surpassed all expectations when the British public

pulled together to raise a record-breaking £46.6 million

for the charity, the largest total ever.

And that, my friends, was the year that was 2016.

My ultimate, favourite CBBC show of 2016

is the show that makes me feel 1 million times brainier

after each episode.

Operation Ouch! Hospital Takeover is science-y,

it's about real life and it has a presenter that just manages

to be everywhere at once.

-Coming up today on...

Oh, wait, they're twins!

Ah, I know exactly what it's like to have clones around.

Just for this vlog, I've got the scriptwriter, the director,

the producer...

One of the things I love most about this show,

and what makes it my pick of 2016,

is how you get to see sides of a hospital

you'd never ever normally see - like the helicopters.

Lots of emergency cases arrive at Alder Hey

and other hospitals by air.

All over the UK, there are helicopter services ready to help.

And unsung hospital heroes like Brian.

Today's hospital hero is postman Brian, who single-handedly sorts,

delivers and collects all the mail in the hospital.

But I think my very favourite part of Operation Ouch!

Hospital Takeover was that it revealed what actually goes on

in hospitals, every hour of every day, even on Christmas Day,

all of the hard work involved from everyone

and the bravery of some of the patients.

Ruby has leukaemia,

a type of cancer, which means she has too many white blood cells.

As well as having lots of hospital visits,

she's also been receiving chemotherapy at home

for nearly a year.

Today, Trish came, the home care lady,

and she did my dressing, as you can see,

-it's been changed.

-I love your video diaries, Ruby,

and go Chris and Xand for showing us all things medically...

if that's a word.

I know it can be tricky sometimes, or drive you around the bend...

..and it can also lift you up.

Get your party horns at the ready, cos that's how good they are.

At number two,

Blue Peter's Lindsey took on a monumental challenge

for Sport Relief.

She attempted to trek for ten hours over 20 miles across the Irish Sea,

and we think she did an incredible job.

I'm running out of time, but I'm determined to get back on course.

The extra effort is agony.

# Thought that I could get by by myself... #

And the waves are impossible.

# Now I know I just can't take it any more... #

I manage one more mile...

Then I hear the words I'm dreading.

Greg tells me to stop.

Come on, let's get you out. Let's get you out of there.

Mate, the tide simply won't let you get to shore, that's the problem.

This has been the toughest challenge of my life.

And in the end, although I didn't quite make it,

and, alongside doctors Chris and Xand,

set up camp at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool

for a fantastic live day of fun beamed straight to your TVs.
