Tonight are our takeaways feeling the public by faking their

ingredients? What we have on here is lamb, beef, chingen and turkey

kebabs. They parted with hundreds of pounds

on the promise of warmer homes. Now, they want their money back.

I have children to feed. I took ?249. I want an answer. Why has

80-year-old's Jim grand design for a model ray way been stopped in its

tracks? I fell for the advert. Simple to use. If that is their idea

of simple, give in! First tonight, a year ago public

confidence in meat products was rocked when tests revealed some

foods sold in supermarkets contained horsemeat. So if the big

supermarkets can get away with it, what about your local takeaway?

Rachel has joined a crack team of trading standard agents to find out

what is on the menu. Mis-selling food is a criminal

offence and it is happening every day across Britain.

Food fraud is such a big problem the authorities in Wales are taking

action. Today, officers from Torfaen Trading

Standards are on a mission. To test what is on offer in the area's take

away, Christine myth is taking part in a Wales wide crackdown It is very

important, the public expect to receive what they ask for, if they

are not receiving it they are being deceived and that is not acceptable.

Tonight, Christine's checking on pizzas and deban, it is 6.00 and

first up is the New Inn Fish Bar in Pontypool. Hello. I am Christine, I

am from Torfaen Trading Standards. Christine wants to inexpect the

kitchens. I will come out the back, it is frozen and you have cooked out

here. If we pop out the back and we will look there. It is better than

in the front where you have customers.

It is not long before she finds a problem. In this case what we have

got is lamb 60%. 25% chicken, so it is not a lamb kebab. Christine warns

the manager he could be in hot water. What you need to do is put on

the menu your doner can bab is lamb and chicken, not just lamb.

Christine wants further checks on what meat is in the kebab.

She will send samples to the lab. What we will do is put it in for

analysis, when it comes back we can check to see there is no other

species other than chicken and lamb. Not a good start.

On to take away number two, the perfect -- the Perfect BBQ. Straight

away it seems this restaurant's lamb kebabs are far from perfect. Doner

kebab is usually associated with lamb, but what we have is lamb,

beef, chicken and turkey kebab, so it is four meat, not just the one.

So that needs to go on the menu. You need to stipulate that on the menu.

The consume has to be told what it is they are buying. The pizzas are

coming under scrutinies. Take aways often don't use real ham and

Christine thises this place might be buying a cheap alternative. It maybe

pork shoulder. So with doubt about what the meat is, it another sample

to send for testing. If it is actually different to what we have

portrayed, then we may have to follow it up with the manufacturers

as well. Two down and it is not looking good

for the Torfaen takeawayser but Christine is determined to improve

standards I have the power to go in and to have a look at everything.

The public rely on me to be making sure that their food is as it is

described. It is my job. I take that very

seriously. It is 7.00, and the King Chicken

restaurant is next. But this time, Christine is in for a pleasant

surprise. Yes, if you want to lift the lamb kebab out. So it says 85%

lamb, so, I mean principally this is about lamb, and lamb doner being

called lamb, and obviously this one looks as if it is going to comply.

The only meat in this kebab is lamb. I would only go to reputable

companies, I won't go to any sort of kebab shops I don't know myself.

That guy is going to be OK, because I have had one of those batches back

and the maker has been OK on the other ones I have done. The chances

are that will be fine. There is time for one more stop and it is a

takeaway that has been in trouble before.

Hello. How you? All right. Christine visited the Family Kebab House in

Cwmbran last year. And she is back, to see if they have

cleaned up their act. It is is not all lamb. Is it? No. So the same

last time, when we said to you, you know, that a lamb doner has to be

lamb, this one has got veal in as well. So again, you need to be

putting that on to your menu board, or you need to buy a product that is

lamb, where you are selling lamb. I did send you information last year

and tell you that a product where it is misdescribed commits an offend,

so it is important that you get it right.

If somebody expected lamb they expect lamb.

Samples of the suspect meat are bagged for testing.

So, as the operation draws to a close for the night, Christine

reflects on her finings. It is five past eight and we have been to a

number of businesses and in fact, on three, three-quarters of those have

shown to be not as described, in terms of the products they they are

supplying. The warning is that if they don't comply, then there is a

potential of prosecution, and there could be a fine of up to ?5,000 for

that prosecution. And we will be finding out what is

in those takeaways when Rachel visits the laboratory later in the

have been uncovering a new cold calling blight. The green companies

offering boilers and insulation but leaving you with a big hole in your

bang balance. One of the companies we have had

most complaints is Cardiff based Eco Green Deal Solutions. Many customers

were offer offered... If they paid an up front fee. We have suppose

into dozen who have had nothing but an energy report for their money.

Rachel has taken one group of customers to the headquarters to

express their feelings about the company.

Where's our boilers? Across Wales there is anger at the companies who

claim to be green. Anger because they are taking

hundreds of pounds of customer's cash and failing to deliver what

they promise. I feel very angry, I was told if I gave ?199 for a survey

I would be entitled to a new boiler. As mine was installed in 1984 I

jumped at the chance. I have been upset from the beginning. We have

had no come back, no feedback from them, and I am angry, I am pleased

this happened today, because we have had do something. I have children to

feed. I took ?249. I want an answer. How do you feel about this company?

Very angry. I said I have to brother this money from my sister, he stood

there for my sister to write the cheque, because I didn't have a

cheque book. How do you feel about that company? I am so angry. So

angry. I am angry I have to pay money back to my sister, ?249. All

these people paid money to a company called Eco Green Deal Solutions.

They are based in this office block in Cardiff Bay.

You are very quiet. You are not #2340r78ly this quiet when you see

people? Persuading them they could be entitled. They are no strangers

to x-ray, we featured them and their director five weeks ago, the company

ceased trading but customers weren't left completely high and dry.

Another company, Diversity Network offered to help the customer, back

in September, the company also based in this office block was offering

refunds to some of Eco Green Deal Solutions's customers. It is all

very strange, it is like buying something from Tescos and getting a

refund from as a the. Some of our protestors have been chasing

Diversity Network for months without success, so has anybody here heard

from Diversity Network? No. Anybody had their refund? No. Anybody had

their boiler or their insulation? No. So, who is behind that offer to

help? We delved deep into the world of green and came across a woman we

like to think of as the Queen of Green. Diversity Network owner

Shelley Roberts. She seemed to be a bountiful Queen, generously offering

to come to the aid of some victims of the nasty Eco Green Deal

Solutions, and handing out refunds. So where did is generous ruler come

from? Well, not from a good place. Before she launched her own

business, she worked for another green company, the notorious

Becoming Green. In is a company well-known to x-ray.

They cold called people and offered enenning help for ?299. They didn't

always give customers the full story.

Yes? They used a government scheme to take money off people who

obviously can't afford to have the money taken off them.

Shelley Roberts made lots of friends there. Several senior managers from

Becoming Green ended up working for her new company, Diversity Network.

One in particular stands out. A Prince Charming, now a senior

manager at Diversity Network. And this is him. Shelley Roberts's

boyfriend Nick Pritchard. He has been on the telly before.

Good evening. A police operation has uncovered one of the UK's largest

illegal cannabis growing conspiracies. Factories across north

Wales were found growing drugs, with an estimated street value of nearly

?14 million. Today three men were jailed for

helping the Chinese run gang. Yes one of the top managers is still on

parole after getting three years for conspiracy to produce cannabis and

money-laundering. But does any of this affect Shelley

Roberts's businesses? Her companies say they are the good guy, offering

refund to the victims of Eco Green Deal Solutions, as a gesture of good

will. But did she really have nothing to do with the company that

has cost our viewers thousands of pounds? Well, we have uncovered some

interesting links. When Eco Green Deal Solutions set up

in business, who registered their website? The Queen of Green herself,

Shelley Roberts. And the two companies didn't just share an

address. Diversity Network's website and Eco Green Deal Solutions were

also using exactly the same phone number.

And one installer as told us that when the boss of Eco Green Deal

Solutions was out, he would get his instructions from who else, but the

Queen of Green, Shelley Roberts. What do we want? Our money back. A

couple of months ago Diversity Network were giving some refunds,

and telling Trading Standards that customer who lost out should contact

them, but since then, things have gone a bit quiet.

So we want to spur them into action with a reminder of some of the

customers who are owed money. We have hung them on this nice green

tree in the hope it might spark some early festive generosity.

Here we go, let's go and do this. But it is not going to be a

straightforward delivery. Unbelievably, they are trying to

tell us inside that Diversity Network are no longer based here, so

Diversity Network, if you are watching we have something for you.

Very confusing. Well, Diversity Network have told us that Caspian

Point is still their main business address. Rachel is we me and they

have a lot more to say, don't they. Yes, they do. They maintain that Eco

Green Deal Solutions, who they describe as a marketing company, and

diversity network are separate companies. And that diversity and

its owner Shelley Roberts have never had any control over the day-to-day

running of Eco Green Deal Solutions. Rather, they simply had business

contracts with them. But you uncovered what appeared to be close

ties between the companies? We did, but they are hotly disputed. Now

they say that Shelley Roberts has never worked for Eco Green Deal

Solutions, rather she registered the domain name as a favour, they say

the fact they shared office space in Caspian Point doesn't mean the

companies are corrected. They say that that terminated their agreement

with Eco Green Deal Solutions long before we got involved, and in their

mind, Nick Pritchard is an appropriate person to be a senior

manager at the company. And what about their shared phone

number? Well, they say it was a shared dephone number that was used

by several separate companies in the building. Now Eco Green Deal

Solutions customers were being advised to go to Diversity Network

for refund, is that still the case? It doesn't seem to be, some people

did have refunds, but they say they never had an obligation to provide

refunds to customer, of the company. They say they will only do work for

customers who they took on before the company ceased trading, so that

is really bad news for customers. So what should customers do? Well Eco

Green Deal Solutions has now gone into administration, so they can

contact the administrators and we will put those details on our

website. We should point out that Eco Green Deal Solutions and

Becoming Green deny misleading customers and they are blaming

delays in funding for the problems that customers have experienced.

Earlier we saw trading standards officer Christine Smith checking out

the meat served in takeaway is. How worried are you about the contents

of that kebabs or the pizza you order. Let us find out. What is

this? Kebabs. Do you like them? Yes. What we'd do you think it is? Lamb,

I think. I have always been told it is lamb, beef or chicken. Do you

mind a mix would you rather have one or the other? I don't believe mind.

When do you have one? After a drink. Do you say you are not sure does

that matter? Yes, I would not want to eat meat that I didn't know what

it was. It is difficult to tell, isn't it? What need is that? Many

meats, I would imagine. Does that bother you? Not really, as long as

it tastes nice. Now, for the pizza. What is on this pizza? I would say

hand and pineapple. What if you found out that the ham was not ham?

I would properly eat anything. If it said it was ham, I would be gutted.

Do you think it is important that people say what meat it is? Yes, as

long as it is not course. I think it looks like ham. They should say what

it is. If I ordered ham, I would expect it to be hammered. How would

you feel if that was not hand? It would depend what it is. We will see

what the scientists have to say later in the programme. Before that,

BC has been to Llanelli to sort out a transport problem.

The romance of the age of steam. Lovingly captured by enthusiasts at

the Swansea Railway Modellers Group. Train sets were not like this when

Jim Jones was a kid in the 1930s. My father bought me a very basic train

set. All it was was a little circle of reels with a local which you wind

up with a clockwork key and painted tin coach behind it. It was the only

set I ever had. Since then, Jim travels the world as an RAF fireman.

He is now 80 and he is finally getting around to building another

train set. What made you want to have one now? It has always been a

dream. I know that I'm getting older. I have always been very

energetic but I am slowing down and I want something now to occupy my

mind. I can spend evenings in the winter building models and things

like that. Jim would love a model really like this but even his less

complicated plans meant building a base for it to sit on. This is it.

Very impressive, you must have done a lot of work to install this? Yes,

I decided I was going to have a layout, I wanted it to be a tidy

size and I wanted to keep my spare trains and all that in the

cupboards. I bet it cost a lot? About ?1300. You must have thought

it all worth it when the train set arrived? I was thrilled to bits,

just like a little boy on Christmas morning. The train box arrives, I

pull the train out and put the track on and put the train on the track

and connect it up and the drivers are on strike! Jim had invested in a

state-of-the-art computer controlled model railway but the train was

stuck in this station. He has had computers for years but this

supposedly simple to use system defeated him. What happened when you

went to get it started? I took the disc and follow the instructions to

put it into the computer. All that came up on the screen was, unable to

handshake with computer. I checked all the leads and they were all

right. He eventually spoke to an expert at Hornby. He started to get

into real computer speak. Go into this programme, this enable this,

check your firewall and 64 bit systems. I was completely lost. A

manual he downloaded did not help much either. You would have two have

a degree in competing and also, you would have to be a computer engineer

to start discharging capacity orders and that sort of thing. I fell for

the advert. Simple to use. If that is their idea of simple to use, give

in. I bought a railway set, I wanted to work. -- I want it to work. Let

us see what we can do. Meet Paul Rees, he is not just a steam train

fan, he is a computer expert, too. We have asked him to take a look at

Jim's said. Come in, I hear you either man the job. This is the real

way set, there is the computer. Jim just cannot get it to work. I will

see what I can do. Cup of tea? Poll is getting straight into the

challenge. Here is your tea, how are you getting on? That seems to be

OK. He is concentrating. It seems to be taking a while. Another cup of

tea? I would not say no. Finally, sounds like progress. Oh, that is

what you expected to see. I think we need an engine driver now. Let us

get the engine driver. We think we have delayed! Do you want to come

and put it to the test? Fear that works, have a go. Look at this! Two

months of waiting to get the train out of the station. What is it like

to see that going around? Marvellous, you have made a young

man very, very happy. Great news and since we have filmed,

Jim has been in touch to say how much he has been enjoying his model

railway. Hornby had denied there are any problems using their digital

controllers with Windows eight and they said they give customers full

instructions. They also have a helpline open 365 days a year which

can help. They did offer to do some work to help Jim but our man got

there first. Now time to find out what was really in those pizzas and

kebabs that Trading Standards collated earlier.

Across Wales, checks are being made on article ways. It is trading

standards officer Christine Smith's job to investigate it fast food

outlets are being honest about the meat they sell. It has to be all

lamb. The issue is not the salt, it is to do with the meat content. If

somebody expects lamb, they are expecting to get lamb. Samples like

the ones Christine collected art tested here in this lab in Cardiff.

Chief scientist Alastair Low and his team have been putting the pizzas

and kebabs under the microscope. Firstly, we remove all the meat from

the product. Then we blend them altogether. Then we ascertain if a

lamb doner kebab is indeed lamb only. What kind of issues have you

highlighted with the kebabs? We had lived at samples from eight or nine

authorities in South Wales and the results have all been the same. That

is, there is a lot of lamb doner kebab is their advertised that are

not solely lamb. Our findings are about three out of five, 60%, well

over half that are mislabelled at the point-of-sale. They are

essentially filling it out with cheaper meets? Yes, their profit

margin is increased because they do not have to put as much land in

there even though they are calling it lamb. There is a shocking

revelation about the ham found on some pizzas. What we find is that

sometimes, it is not actual porker. Sometimes it is Turkey, sometimes

you are getting mechanically recovered chicken. That sounds

absolutely disgusting. It is the meat that has come off the bone

either by high-pressure jets of water with a script it by mechanical

means. Within that, you have your say new, tendons, connective tissue.

You just have not got meat but under the law, it cannot be classified as

meat. The results from Christine's spot checks are in and as she

thought, three of the four article ways are breaking the law with some

of their food. Ham was not ham from the hind leg of a pig, it was Turkey

julienne or pork shoulder with added water and the lamb kebabs were

anything but lamb. They had other meets in them. Does it surprise you?

Now, because when money is involved, nothing surprises me. It

is basically this leading the public for the few extra pounds. Now, it

does not surprise me. What next for the three takeaway is found to be

breaking the law? For now, Christine is issuing warnings. They must

improve standards or face the consequences. There is only so far

you can go with giving warnings. Once you have reached that, there

has to be prosecution at the end of it. The battle against food fraud

goes on but in the meantime, you might want to think twice about what

is really on the menu at your local takeaway.

Those spot checks are continuing across Wales and the results will be

published by Trading Standards later this year. Well done to the King

Chicken from Cwmbran, kebabs only contained lamb as stated in the

menu. The New Inn Fish Bar in Pontypool say they have changed

their menu to make it clear that their kebabs contain lamb chicken.

Perfect BBQ in Croesyceiliog say it had changed their menu, but the

Family Kebab House in Cwmbran had not responded to us.
