Today, we've headed to the East of England Showground at Peterborough.

0:00:050:00:08

Now, did you know, it's the very soil I'm stood on that brought wealth

0:00:080:00:12

to this cathedral city?

0:00:120:00:13

Through most of the 20th century, it was Peterborough's bricks

0:00:130:00:16

that helped Britain's construction industry flourish.

0:00:160:00:20

Now, I'm the foreman today. A bit tight.

0:00:200:00:23

So if there's any building to be done, it needs to be

0:00:230:00:25

focused on profits.

0:00:250:00:26

So let's go Bargain Hunting.

0:00:260:00:28

Our teams have some solid foundations to work from today,

0:00:550:00:59

with 1,000 stalls to root around.

0:00:590:01:01

So, with £300 and 60 minutes on the clock,

0:01:010:01:04

let's see if they can cement a profit at auction.

0:01:040:01:07

Coming up on today's programme, the Reds are falling apart.

0:01:100:01:14

-How long have you been married?

-About three months.

0:01:140:01:17

-Do you think it will last?

-Hmm.

-Hmm. Hmm.

0:01:170:01:20

-Actually, it's been five months.

-Oh!

-Five months.

0:01:200:01:23

The Blues get into the swing of it.

0:01:250:01:27

-If it weren't so old, I'd tackle you down with them now.

-Well, that's OK.

0:01:270:01:31

-That's pleasant.

-That's the end of our Bargain Hunting career.

0:01:310:01:34

THEY LAUGH

0:01:340:01:35

And at the auction, it's all smiles for the Reds.

0:01:350:01:38

And it is good news for the Blues.

0:01:400:01:42

Yes!

0:01:420:01:43

But before all that... On the show today,

0:01:430:01:46

we have two teams of married couples.

0:01:460:01:48

For the Reds, we've got Yasmin and Prash.

0:01:480:01:50

-And for the Blues, we've got Simon and Lorraine. Hello. ALL:

-Hello.

0:01:500:01:54

Now, Yasmin and Prash,

0:01:540:01:56

I believe it took some time for you two to get together.

0:01:560:01:59

We originally met about five years ago.

0:01:590:02:02

And it was actually my cousin and her best mate's party.

0:02:020:02:07

We kind of glanced at each other...

0:02:070:02:09

I like to think there was a romantic

0:02:090:02:11

glance at each other across the room,

0:02:110:02:13

but it couldn't have been that good, nothing came of it then.

0:02:130:02:16

-The next step, we met at the same couple's engagement.

-Ah.

0:02:160:02:20

Again, Prashant had a couple of cheesy chat up lines.

0:02:200:02:25

-Managed to get some courage up this time.

-PAUL LAUGHS

0:02:250:02:27

-And we then met at the wedding.

-Same couple?

0:02:270:02:30

Same couple. Same couple. And we are here today.

0:02:300:02:34

Took some doing, but it was meant to be, clearly.

0:02:340:02:37

Took a little bit longer than normal, but, yeah.

0:02:370:02:40

Now, Yasmin, I believe your job involves bargaining.

0:02:400:02:43

-Tell me more about that.

-Yes, I'm a medical recruiter for a hospital.

0:02:430:02:47

So lots of clinical staff, nurses and doctors.

0:02:470:02:49

You, in your day job, are looking for the best and something with a certain something,

0:02:490:02:54

and at the right...at the right...

0:02:540:02:57

Competitive rates, yes, indeed.

0:02:570:02:59

Now, Prashant, your job is very cutting edge, I believe.

0:02:590:03:03

Yes, so I work for a global medical technology company.

0:03:030:03:07

So we do things like brain function monitoring, or region oximetry.

0:03:070:03:10

And what is your involvement in that? It sounds fascinating.

0:03:100:03:13

I help NHS and private hospitals find funding for these

0:03:130:03:17

types of equipment.

0:03:170:03:18

And then introduce these equipments into the hospitals so they're

0:03:180:03:21

ready to use and hopefully keep everybody safe and living longer.

0:03:210:03:24

Well, I think you've got the skills required.

0:03:240:03:26

What are going to be your tactics today?

0:03:260:03:28

I think Yasmin has definitely got the keen eye.

0:03:280:03:31

So I think you'll do the looking, hopefully I can get the price right.

0:03:310:03:36

That sounds like a potentially winning approach.

0:03:360:03:40

Now, the Blues. Simon and Lorraine.

0:03:400:03:43

Simon, they tell me you met one another at an auction.

0:03:430:03:45

Now, that bodes well. Tell me more.

0:03:450:03:47

Yes, I purchased her for the princely sum of £30

0:03:470:03:50

-and Volkswagen Polo.

-I like your style.

0:03:500:03:53

-It was a bargain.

-You're hitting all the right buttons, I'll tell you.

0:03:530:03:58

So, you're...on a night out, charity auction. You are up for auction yourself.

0:03:580:04:03

And it was like, "OK, do I get any choice in this?" And it was like, "No."

0:04:030:04:07

And 26 years later, he's still got me.

0:04:070:04:09

Hey, that's a good buy, I have no doubt.

0:04:090:04:12

-Now, you design people's homes for a living.

-I do.

0:04:120:04:16

Houses, extensions, commercial properties, anything like that.

0:04:160:04:20

Planning them, building regs,

0:04:200:04:21

-I've been a self-employed architect for the past ten years.

-OK.

0:04:210:04:25

Lorraine, what do you do for a living?

0:04:250:04:27

I work in a chip shop in Hunstanton,

0:04:270:04:30

and it is proper, traditional fish and chips. Not cooked in oil,

0:04:300:04:34

cooked in beef dripping.

0:04:340:04:36

-So you've got the proper taste.

-Salt and vinegar.

0:04:360:04:40

Any time you want to come up, fish and chips on me.

0:04:400:04:42

Pickled egg and an onion the size of an orange for me.

0:04:420:04:44

Onions are like that.

0:04:440:04:46

Oh, tell me that is as good as I want it to be

0:04:460:04:49

and not a living hell because you hate fish and chips.

0:04:490:04:52

-Best job in the world.

-That quality British product.

0:04:520:04:55

It is a quality British product. It is the best of Norfolk as well.

0:04:550:04:58

-Of course, I had no doubt.

-Of course.

0:04:580:05:01

Tell me about your tactics today.

0:05:010:05:03

If it jumps out and I like it, and our expert agrees and says yes.

0:05:030:05:07

Well, that leads me

0:05:070:05:08

nicely to the point where I set you up

0:05:080:05:11

with the money, all of £300.

0:05:110:05:14

-Thank you.

-Look at that. And for the Blues, an equal sum.

0:05:140:05:19

Your experts await, so off you go, and the very best of luck to you.

0:05:190:05:23

-Thank you.

-With the spotting skills and the bargaining

0:05:230:05:27

I have seen either side of me today, expect some action.

0:05:270:05:31

But before the fun begins, it's time to meet our experts.

0:05:340:05:38

Hoping for a hat-trick with his buys today,

0:05:380:05:41

for the Reds, it's Philip Serrell.

0:05:410:05:43

And scooting to success, for the Blues, it's Christina Trevanion.

0:05:440:05:49

We've got one hour. What are you going to buy?

0:05:490:05:51

-I'm looking for maybe some figurines.

-Yeah?

-Yeah.

0:05:510:05:54

-And what is she going to let you buy?

-Hopefully I'm going to find something quirky,

0:05:540:05:57

-something a bit out there.

-So what are we looking for?

0:05:570:06:00

-Quirky and unusual.

-Quirky and unusual.

0:06:000:06:02

-And what are we looking for?

-Quirky and unusual.

0:06:020:06:04

-Oh, my gosh, you're married and you agree?

-Oh, yes.

0:06:040:06:07

Right, teams, time to swing into action.

0:06:070:06:11

Time starts...now.

0:06:110:06:14

Let's get going.

0:06:140:06:15

So, top of the list for both couples is something quirky.

0:06:180:06:22

Which team will come out on top?

0:06:220:06:24

We are quite competitive, we like to win.

0:06:240:06:26

From what I've heard, the Blues are really up for this.

0:06:260:06:29

-Like REALLY up for this. They want to win.

-You're not wrong, Phil.

0:06:290:06:34

-Look at them go.

-We've spotted something.

-Oh, my goodness.

0:06:340:06:38

-Lorraine is excited about something.

-She is a speedy worker, is she not?

0:06:380:06:42

-Oh, a rusty tin bath.

-Oh, she wants a bath.

0:06:430:06:47

HE LAUGHS

0:06:470:06:48

-She probably needs a bath.

-THEY LAUGH

0:06:480:06:50

-It is quite a warm day.

-People put them in their gardens for flowerbeds.

0:06:500:06:53

-OK.

-You can use that for so many different things in your garden.

0:06:530:06:56

Yes, it's already got the drain holes in it,

0:06:560:06:58

so that would be perfect for a planter.

0:06:580:07:00

I mean, I'm thinking, to be perfectly honest with you,

0:07:000:07:02

that is quite big. What's your thoughts about the milk churn?

0:07:020:07:05

-See, I like that as well.

-What would you use it for in practical terms?

0:07:050:07:08

Obviously that could be a planter.

0:07:080:07:09

I think people put them outside their houses, don't they?

0:07:090:07:12

As a decorative item. But what's really nice about it,

0:07:120:07:15

it's been decorated with these wonderful floral scenes here.

0:07:150:07:17

I think this could have been a heart here originally,

0:07:170:07:20

which has been repainted. But I just think it is a nice, decorative thing.

0:07:200:07:24

Excuse me, sir.

0:07:240:07:25

Whose stall is this? Your stall, darling.

0:07:250:07:28

-How much have you got on your bath?

-65.

-65. And the churn?

-The same.

0:07:280:07:32

-What would be your best prices on those?

-50 each.

0:07:320:07:36

-50 each, OK.

-See, I like both of them. I think they go together.

0:07:360:07:39

Yeah, they're kind of...

0:07:390:07:41

-That's a lot of money to spend.

-It is.

-I think this one is a more practical.

0:07:410:07:45

-I could see someone using that as a planter. This I'm not sure about.

-OK.

0:07:450:07:48

I think that probably has got a bit more commercial appeal, in all honesty.

0:07:480:07:51

-I will take your professional...

-I like it.

0:07:510:07:53

Would you take £40 cash, sir?

0:07:530:07:55

-Yes, go on, then.

-You would take £40

0:07:570:08:00

-Oh, my gosh, she's done it. Oh, my God.

-THEY LAUGH

0:08:000:08:03

Wow, there's no messing about with Lorraine.

0:08:030:08:06

Yeah. I think that could make a bit of profit.

0:08:060:08:09

-You've just bought yourself a milk churn.

-We've got a milk churn!

0:08:090:08:12

Well done, team. Oh, my goodness.

0:08:120:08:14

High-fives indeed.

0:08:140:08:16

We're not even five minutes into the shop yet.

0:08:160:08:19

You really are quick off the mark, Blues.

0:08:190:08:22

The Reds, meanwhile, are taking an altogether more leisurely pace.

0:08:220:08:26

It's been awhile now, we need to...

0:08:260:08:28

Lots of homeware bits, lots of glass,

0:08:280:08:31

but they are not anything different.

0:08:310:08:33

Come on, Reds, you are already trailing behind.

0:08:330:08:36

Time to get in there and put some items under the spotlight.

0:08:360:08:39

-Talking about lights, how about some spotlights?

-They look different.

0:08:390:08:44

-A feature piece, maybe.

-The Norwegian Navy.

-Norwegian Navy?

0:08:440:08:48

Yeah.

0:08:480:08:49

I know you've got 175 on them.

0:08:510:08:53

What's the least you could do them for?

0:08:530:08:55

One's mine and one's my husband's, so...

0:08:550:08:57

Ah, another husband and wife team, who each own one of the lamps.

0:08:570:09:01

How will you handle this one, Phil?

0:09:010:09:04

OK, then what I'd like to do is send your husband over there,

0:09:040:09:08

and you whisper very gently what's the best you could do it for.

0:09:080:09:11

-(155.)

-OK.

-What did she say?

0:09:110:09:14

-I'm not going to tell you. What's the best for yours?

-150.

0:09:140:09:17

-You're history, you are.

-Divide and conquer. I like your style, Phil.

0:09:190:09:24

-But it's a lot of money.

-Do you like that?

0:09:240:09:27

-I'm not 100%.

-Sometimes...sometimes...

0:09:270:09:29

sometimes you don't have to say a word. There is a look...

0:09:290:09:33

-You can see on my face.

-There is a look.

0:09:330:09:36

"And do you like that?" You went... "Uh! Uh!"

0:09:360:09:39

That's the look that you get.

0:09:390:09:41

We're getting an insight into how this marriage works.

0:09:410:09:45

-Yeah.

-Yeah?

-Expressioned.

0:09:450:09:47

We've only been married three months, so...

0:09:470:09:50

No time for a lover's tiff, you're ten minutes in

0:09:500:09:53

and yet to buy an item.

0:09:530:09:54

Meanwhile, the Blues are still motoring ahead,

0:09:580:10:01

-and Simon has got his eye on a lovely lamp.

-A nice road lamp.

0:10:010:10:06

-Is there such a thing?

-Well...

0:10:060:10:08

SHE LAUGHS

0:10:080:10:10

So that is a lantern that you obviously would put your...

0:10:100:10:13

-Can I help you hold that?

-Lantern in there.

0:10:140:10:17

So I think it is probably a signal lamp rather than a lantern lantern.

0:10:170:10:22

-It just caught my eye, a little bit unusual.

-Yes, it is very unusual.

0:10:220:10:25

Gosh, you're going for architectural salvage type pieces, aren't you?

0:10:250:10:28

It just caught my eye. It is an unusual shape.

0:10:280:10:30

I quite like the architectural shape and the vent holes at the top.

0:10:300:10:34

How much is the lamp?

0:10:340:10:35

-Well, I'm asking 300.

-Oh!

0:10:350:10:39

No, you're not. Really?

0:10:390:10:41

-That's quite a rare one.

-Wow!

0:10:410:10:44

At that price, it would have to be a magic lantern!

0:10:440:10:47

For the shape of it... They're not coming around.

0:10:470:10:51

What would be your absolute depth on that, darling?

0:10:510:10:53

Seeing as it's you, I could do it for 70. I can't do...

0:10:530:10:57

-That's the best.

-£70. Do you like it?

0:10:570:11:00

-No.

-No.

-THEY LAUGH

0:11:000:11:02

-I knew the answer.

-I thought we were going to agree on everything.

0:11:020:11:05

It just doesn't... I can't see a use for it.

0:11:050:11:07

I love that you're so speedy, but let's just...

0:11:070:11:12

have a look and potentially come back in a bit. Great, are we ready?

0:11:120:11:16

-Yes.

-Right, let's go.

-Oh, hang on, I wanted to look at that...

0:11:160:11:19

..pull. Pull, pull, pull.

0:11:190:11:22

Go on, then, Lorraine, find something you can all agree on.

0:11:220:11:25

Back to the Reds, who are finally heading in the right direction.

0:11:300:11:34

I mean, on a kitchen wall or something, I think

0:11:340:11:36

-that would look very nice.

-A statement piece, maybe.

0:11:360:11:39

-Yeah.

-Do know what I would do with it?

-What would you do with it?

0:11:390:11:42

I would put it in the centre of a table.

0:11:420:11:44

-Oh, that would look lovely, wouldn't it?

-So then you've got a really cool table around you.

0:11:440:11:48

-So how old is this?

-I would say 1920s, 1930s.

0:11:490:11:54

Our shy stallholder is full of useful information.

0:11:540:11:58

And he doesn't seem to want to budge on price.

0:11:580:12:01

The sort of best is the price that I've stated quite clearly on it,

0:12:010:12:04

which is 65.

0:12:040:12:05

Would there be a way we could achieve maybe a mutually

0:12:050:12:09

-amicable price?

-That's it, Prashant, put those haggling skills into action.

0:12:090:12:14

There is, what I call, the nominal gesture,

0:12:140:12:16

-which would take it back to £60.

-Are there any nominal gestures?

-No.

0:12:160:12:21

-I...

-60 quid.

0:12:210:12:23

If we do it at £60, you can get rid of my headache.

0:12:250:12:27

THEY LAUGH

0:12:270:12:29

With that at 60, I think that's a cracking deal. Thank you.

0:12:290:12:32

I'd heard about these much vaunted Prash haggling skills.

0:12:320:12:37

I think he caved in there, don't you?

0:12:370:12:39

No, I think it was a tough cookie.

0:12:390:12:42

This newlywed is standing by her man, Phil.

0:12:420:12:45

But I think you can all be very pleased.

0:12:450:12:47

With 20 minutes gone, that's your first item in the bag.

0:12:470:12:50

-I'm really pleased with that. First buy, what do you think?

-Good buy.

0:12:500:12:54

-Good buy.

-Are you happy? What, do you mean "goodbye, goodbye", or "good buy"?

-Good buy.

0:12:540:12:57

Don't go anywhere yet. You've only bought one thing.

0:12:570:13:01

Meanwhile, Lorraine is finding some scales very appealing.

0:13:050:13:09

What have you got? You've got your scales here, and

0:13:090:13:11

you put your sack on that side, I assume, so you can weigh your scales.

0:13:110:13:15

And you have all your weights on there.

0:13:150:13:17

There's plenty of chippies out there who might want to

0:13:170:13:19

-weigh their potatoes.

-Would you use these in the shop?

-No.

0:13:190:13:23

-For you potatoes?

-We might weigh the staff.

0:13:230:13:25

-Make sure they're not eating too much.

-CHRISTINA LAUGHS

0:13:250:13:28

Simon isn't convinced.

0:13:280:13:30

But I think I know who will have the final say here.

0:13:300:13:32

How are those Reds getting on?

0:13:340:13:37

-Look at this little fella.

-Do you like that?

0:13:370:13:40

-Yeah, he's OK.

-He's OK.

0:13:400:13:42

He's not exactly filled full of enthusiasm.

0:13:420:13:45

Well, he's not exactly full of enthusiasm, is he?

0:13:450:13:47

What about that poster over there?

0:13:470:13:49

-The White Star Line one?

-Yeah.

0:13:490:13:51

That looks interesting, doesn't it? What was White Star Line?

0:13:510:13:54

It was quite a famous shipping line. I'm pretty sure it was Titanic.

0:13:540:13:57

Really?

0:13:570:13:58

Posters and stuff are quite trendy. Shall we go and have a look?

0:13:580:14:02

-Yeah. Let's have a look.

-Let's wander around this way.

0:14:020:14:04

-I like this one, actually.

-Oh! My life!

0:14:050:14:09

-You like it?

-Yeah, yeah.

0:14:090:14:11

I was thinking... I thought you wouldn't see me over the top.

0:14:110:14:14

-Is this a collectable, then?

-Yes. Posters are sought-after.

0:14:140:14:18

You can get film posters that make an absolute fortune.

0:14:180:14:20

But advertising posters, likewise, can make a lot of money.

0:14:200:14:24

I would think this is, probably, early '60s.

0:14:240:14:27

We both know who you have to persuade. Don't we, Phil?

0:14:270:14:30

-Do you like this?

-Yes. It's a yes. I do like it.

-Not just a...hmm.

0:14:300:14:34

But you like it?

0:14:350:14:36

I like it a lot. I do. I do.

0:14:360:14:39

So, it's got Yasmin's seal of approval.

0:14:390:14:42

But will they buy it?

0:14:420:14:44

Back with the Blues and has Lorraine convinced Simon

0:14:440:14:47

it's worth investing in those scales?

0:14:470:14:49

-It's talking to me.

-Is it?

0:14:510:14:53

-Hang on. I'll go and have a chat.

-You go and have a chat.

0:14:530:14:55

See if you can get a good deal, Christina.

0:14:560:15:00

Back inside and the Reds are doing a deal on that poster.

0:15:000:15:03

-How much? What's your best price?

-My very best on that is £60.

0:15:030:15:06

£60.

0:15:060:15:08

I think that's a done deal. Thank you.

0:15:090:15:12

Well done, Reds. You're really sailing along now.

0:15:120:15:15

That's two items down. Now, how's Christina getting on?

0:15:150:15:19

Hey, guys, right.

0:15:190:15:21

She says she'll do it for £40. She's got somebody else coming back.

0:15:210:15:24

-Right.

-That is very interested.

0:15:240:15:26

I think we should have it for £40.

0:15:260:15:28

She's not really moving on the price

0:15:280:15:29

because she's probably got a guaranteed sale.

0:15:290:15:31

Right. I think I should take £40.

0:15:310:15:33

-There's something saying that we should have it.

-There you go.

0:15:330:15:36

You guys, two down. Go and get that deal done.

0:15:360:15:39

I'm exhausted.

0:15:390:15:42

She's the one! Put it there.

0:15:420:15:44

Whoa! I thought I was going to get in the middle of that.

0:15:450:15:48

Halfway through the shop and both teams have two items.

0:15:490:15:53

Let's leave them hunting for their third

0:15:530:15:55

while I show you something full of Eastern promise.

0:15:550:15:58

Welcome to the world of Japanese miniature works of art.

0:16:060:16:11

This little object here is termed a netsuke.

0:16:110:16:15

They netsuke is no more, or less, than a toggle.

0:16:150:16:19

Tell me more, you ask.

0:16:190:16:21

Well, let me take you back to 18th or 19th-Century Japan

0:16:210:16:25

and the traditional dress of the kimono.

0:16:250:16:27

The kimono lacks pockets.

0:16:270:16:29

So where do you keep your small change?

0:16:290:16:32

Well, if you're a lady,

0:16:320:16:33

and you've got your lippy to hide somewhere,

0:16:330:16:36

traditionally, small, little personal objects

0:16:360:16:39

would be kept in the sleeves.

0:16:390:16:41

Gentleman, carrying, perhaps, their pipe case, their tobacco pouch,

0:16:410:16:45

or their little medicine box, known as an inro,

0:16:450:16:47

would employ the toggle.

0:16:470:16:49

The netsuke. How does that work?

0:16:490:16:52

Well, you get your little pouch, collectively known as a sagemono

0:16:520:16:55

and if we have a little cord around the sagemono,

0:16:550:17:00

back and into the netsuke.

0:17:000:17:02

The netsuke can be tucked up and under the obi

0:17:020:17:06

and there you have it.

0:17:060:17:08

Many were carved in wood, or ivory, some were even ceramic.

0:17:080:17:12

This little example is carved from walrus ivory. Walrus tusks.

0:17:120:17:17

It depicts two gentlemen, the taller of whom

0:17:170:17:20

is being supported by his diminutive little partner.

0:17:200:17:23

And that little chap wears a very distinctive hairdo,

0:17:230:17:27

known as a topknot.

0:17:270:17:28

That was a status symbol in Imperial Japan,

0:17:280:17:31

generally indicative of samurai status.

0:17:310:17:34

The demise of the netsuke

0:17:340:17:36

comes about following the Meiji Restoration of the 1860s.

0:17:360:17:40

From that point, Japan opens up its borders to the West

0:17:400:17:44

and, indeed, the Japanese start to adopt Western attire.

0:17:440:17:48

Of course, Western dress involves pockets.

0:17:480:17:51

Rendering the poor old netsuke obsolete.

0:17:510:17:55

However, the netsuke survived this little revolution

0:17:550:17:59

because of its status as a work of art.

0:17:590:18:03

If netsuke were simply plain old buttons

0:18:030:18:05

or toggles like those on your duffle coat, they would be no more.

0:18:050:18:09

They would have vanished and no-one would care,

0:18:090:18:12

but because of their charm and sophistication,

0:18:120:18:14

as little gems of art, they have endured in appeal.

0:18:140:18:20

Now, back to the specifics of this little chap.

0:18:200:18:23

This was acquired in a general house clearance shop

0:18:230:18:28

for less than £10.

0:18:280:18:30

Believe it or not, its true value to a specialist,

0:18:300:18:35

would comfortably be £250.

0:18:350:18:38

Now, it goes to show, tiny little treasures like that

0:18:380:18:42

still lurk in the least likely of places.

0:18:420:18:46

Back with our teams who've each bought two items,

0:18:570:19:00

but there's only 20 minutes left and it seems pressure's getting to them.

0:19:000:19:05

How long have you been married?

0:19:050:19:08

-Er, about three months.

-Rowing much?

0:19:080:19:11

-Hmm.

-Actually, it's been five months.

0:19:110:19:14

Oh-ho! Their first row is on television!

0:19:140:19:17

-What do you like about that?

-I like the colours.

0:19:190:19:21

Great colours, aren't they?

0:19:210:19:22

-Great colours but I'm gradually going off of it.

-Oh!

0:19:220:19:26

-I don't know why.

-Does she normally change her mind this quickly?

0:19:260:19:29

It was all going so swimmingly.

0:19:290:19:31

Come on, guys, you need to get one more item under your belt.

0:19:310:19:34

-Phil, what do you think of this Titanic bag?

-That's a lifebelt.

-OK.

0:19:340:19:39

If that was original off the Titanic, I would think it would be,

0:19:390:19:41

I don't know, 100,000-200,000.

0:19:410:19:44

-Something like that.

-Bit out of our price range.

-It's...

0:19:440:19:47

It looks like it's of that period, doesn't it?

0:19:500:19:54

Excuse me, what's this?

0:19:540:19:56

That's um... Early 20th-century life jacket.

0:19:560:20:00

-Obviously a later edition there.

-It's not really off the Titanic then?

0:20:010:20:05

-It's not.

-Damn.

0:20:050:20:07

Apparently made, reportedly, for the 1950s film.

0:20:070:20:10

-Was that with Kenny More?

-Kenny More.

-Yeah, I know it.

0:20:100:20:14

-Well... And how much is that?

-The very best one, that. It's £35.

0:20:140:20:18

That's lovely.

0:20:180:20:19

Buy it or move on, team!

0:20:190:20:21

There's only 15 minutes to go.

0:20:210:20:24

Over to the Blues and it looks like Simon's spotted something.

0:20:240:20:27

What have you seen? Have you been looking at things?

0:20:270:20:29

-I daren't show you.

-Why?

-Um...

0:20:290:20:32

-Is it dangerous?

-No. Just a little salt-and-pepper shaker.

-Aw!

0:20:320:20:36

It's so sweet!

0:20:360:20:38

That is the thing I would least expect you two go for.

0:20:380:20:40

-What do you love about it?

-It just caught my eye.

0:20:400:20:42

It's just unusual. The cartouches aren't marked, which is a bonus.

0:20:420:20:47

-Amazing!

-Yes, you're absolutely right.

0:20:470:20:49

It's hallmarked.

0:20:490:20:51

It's quite light.

0:20:510:20:54

They are sweet, aren't they? Ideally, you'd want them in a little box.

0:20:540:20:57

-How much are they?

-They're 75.

0:20:570:20:59

75 for the pair, OK.

0:20:590:21:00

-There's no box?

-There isn't one, no.

-OK.

0:21:000:21:03

I was asked to ask your opinion on these. You might know about them.

0:21:030:21:06

-They're boleadoras, from Argentina.

-Oh, stand back!

0:21:060:21:10

THEY LAUGH

0:21:100:21:11

-What if it comes off and you hit somebody?

-Yeah, they are very old.

0:21:110:21:14

-Don't do it too vigorously.

-Don't swing them, babe.

-So what do you do?

0:21:140:21:17

-You do that and they spin out... They should untangle.

-Right.

0:21:170:21:20

Then come out... So they go either way... Want one?

0:21:200:21:24

And they wrap around the hooves of a cow or something and bring it down.

0:21:240:21:27

-Then spin 'em.

-Ah!

-They wrap around your legs.

-Oh, right.

0:21:270:21:30

If it weren't so old, I'd tackle you down with them now.

0:21:300:21:32

-Oh, well, that's...

-OK, that's pleasant!

0:21:320:21:35

That's the end of our Bargain Hunting career!

0:21:350:21:37

Christina, I think you need to herd them away

0:21:370:21:40

before they do themselves an injury!

0:21:400:21:42

What I was thinking was, that sewing machine

0:21:460:21:48

that I saw earlier...

0:21:480:21:49

Seems Phil has spotted something he hopes will have

0:21:490:21:52

victory all sewn up for the Reds.

0:21:520:21:55

-Yeah, well, how old would you say this is?

-1880, 1890?

0:21:550:21:59

-It's got...

-Birmingham.

-Yeah.

0:21:590:22:01

-Maxwell Agenoria Works.

-Mmm.

0:22:010:22:05

I quite like this design on the inside as well.

0:22:050:22:07

-What you've got is a piece of sculpture, isn't it, really?

-Mmm.

0:22:070:22:10

-And I think now, we've only got...10-15 minutes left, so...

-Yeah.

0:22:100:22:14

..in my eyes, you either buy this or you buy the life belt.

0:22:140:22:20

The choice of two items is not a bad place to be, Reds.

0:22:210:22:25

Back with the Blues and it's Simon's turn to choose the last item.

0:22:270:22:31

I'm still waiting for inspiration.

0:22:310:22:34

-Still waiting for something to leap out at you?

-Yeah.

0:22:340:22:36

And he's struggling.

0:22:360:22:38

This is a nice piece of engineering.

0:22:390:22:42

It's...beautiful?

0:22:420:22:44

HE LAUGHS

0:22:440:22:46

-It's your choice.

-I'm more drawn by the lamp.

-By the lamp?

0:22:460:22:48

-The first...

-The first lamp we saw?

-Yeah.

0:22:480:22:51

-Really? Do you really love that lamp?

-I don't know why.

-He does, he keeps going on about it.

0:22:510:22:55

It appears nothing can compete with that lamp.

0:22:550:22:59

Perhaps Simon's hoping there's a genie inside.

0:22:590:23:02

Does it have to be that lamp?

0:23:020:23:04

Er, no. The lamp, it just grabs my attention, rather like that.

0:23:040:23:10

-Well, that is not a lamp.

-No, but it's...

0:23:120:23:16

I like the '50s kitsch style.

0:23:160:23:17

Do you know, actually, that's really quite clever, Simon,

0:23:190:23:22

because if you... If you look at it, it is very kitsch

0:23:220:23:26

and actually people are buying these to turn them into lamps.

0:23:260:23:29

-You wouldn't use it as a heater now, you just wouldn't.

-No, no.

0:23:290:23:32

-I can see that in a modern sort of townhouse in...

-Oh, yeah.

0:23:320:23:35

-In London somewhere, some groovy hipster.

-Some groovy hipster?

-Yeah.

0:23:350:23:39

Much like yourself, you groovy hipster!

0:23:390:23:43

I mean, if it's £30-£50, I can see you making some money out of that.

0:23:430:23:47

Yeah, yeah.

0:23:470:23:48

Go on, you groovy hipster, go and ask the price.

0:23:480:23:51

Simon, you need to get this heater for the right price.

0:23:510:23:54

Have you worked your magic, like you did on me?

0:23:540:23:56

-It didn't work very well.

-Oh.

0:23:560:23:59

Um, £60 is the best they would do.

0:23:590:24:02

There's only five minutes to go, what're you going to do, team?

0:24:020:24:06

Is he a charming kind of guy?

0:24:060:24:07

-No, he's not very good at that sort of thing.

-No.

-OK, I'll have a chat.

-OK, thank you.

0:24:070:24:11

Go on, Christina. Work your magic!

0:24:110:24:14

Meanwhile, it's decision time for the Reds.

0:24:140:24:17

-What shall we buy? Sewing machine?

-Yeah, sewing machine.

-Sewing machine, yeah.

0:24:170:24:21

There he is, you'll have to deal with it.

0:24:210:24:23

-Right, you groovy kids, 55.

-Yeah?

-Wow.

0:24:230:24:26

-What's the best price you can do for us?

-I've got 55 on it.

0:24:260:24:30

-Yeah.

-But seeing it's the end of the day, 45.

-45?

0:24:300:24:34

Could we maybe meet at sort of 40?

0:24:340:24:37

Would that be doable?

0:24:370:24:38

What's the plan?

0:24:380:24:40

Let's do it.

0:24:410:24:44

-Go on, then. That's fantastic, thank you very much.

-Thank you.

0:24:440:24:47

-Did you get it?

-£55.

0:24:470:24:49

High five! Oh, you can't, you'll drop it.

0:24:490:24:52

Tick-tock!

0:24:520:24:53

Right, teams. Time's up!

0:24:530:24:55

We've done really well, there, haven't we?

0:24:550:24:58

THEY CHEER

0:24:580:24:59

Well done. Well done! What a great shop.

0:24:590:25:03

Let's take a look at what the Red team's bought.

0:25:030:25:06

First up, they navigated their way to this ship's compass,

0:25:060:25:09

bought for £60.

0:25:090:25:11

Keeping the nautical theme going, the next item was this poster,

0:25:130:25:17

also costing £60.

0:25:170:25:20

And finally, Phil craftily convinced them

0:25:200:25:22

to buy this Victorian sewing machine.

0:25:220:25:25

Price paid, just £40.

0:25:250:25:28

Yasmin, Prash, what was that like?

0:25:280:25:30

-Oh, I think that was a brilliant day, a really good day out.

-A lot of fun.

0:25:300:25:33

And I think pretty much the division of responsibilities was stuck to?

0:25:330:25:37

Yeah, I think I stuck to the haggling,

0:25:370:25:39

although I think you were crucial in haggling a bit.

0:25:390:25:42

-But...

-You did well, you did well.

-But, yeah, it was good.

0:25:420:25:44

-And we got some good items under our belt.

-A good plan, well executed.

0:25:440:25:47

Prash, your favourite lot?

0:25:470:25:49

-Favourite lot for me has to be the nautical compass.

-Yeah.

0:25:490:25:52

-The nautical compass, I've never seen anything like it before. It looked really good.

-Great stuff.

0:25:520:25:56

Where's the biggest profit? Was it in the compass?

0:25:560:25:59

-I think it's going to be in the poster.

-OK.

0:25:590:26:01

-Yasmin, favourite purchase?

-I think it was the poster.

0:26:010:26:04

-Big profit in that?

-I hope so.

0:26:040:26:07

I think it's about the poster. I'm loving it.

0:26:070:26:09

-What was the total spend?

-160.

-OK, healthy.

0:26:090:26:13

-So someone's got £130 worth of change for me.

-I do. There you go.

0:26:130:26:17

-This is for my friend, Philip.

-Thank you.

-What're you going to do with that?

0:26:170:26:21

Well, I think we need to go and find something that, if we need it,

0:26:210:26:24

might just save us at auction.

0:26:240:26:25

Oh, a hedging tactic! Did you see that?

0:26:250:26:28

Man's a genius!

0:26:280:26:29

Well, while he's off being a genius,

0:26:290:26:31

let's go and see what the Blues have bought.

0:26:310:26:34

First up, they got off to a flying start with this milk churn,

0:26:350:26:38

bought for £40.

0:26:380:26:39

Next, Lorraine had her heart set on these weighing scales,

0:26:420:26:45

which also cost £40.

0:26:450:26:47

And Simon finally had his say with this 1960s heater.

0:26:490:26:52

Price paid, £55.

0:26:520:26:54

Simon, Lorraine, you were quick out the blocks, were you not?

0:26:550:27:00

-Yes, no messing about with us.

-Clearly not.

0:27:000:27:04

Simon, tell me about your purchases, your favourite thing?

0:27:040:27:07

My favourite thing was the heater.

0:27:070:27:09

Is that where the profit lies, or elsewhere?

0:27:090:27:12

Um, no, I'm going to go with a small profit on milk urn.

0:27:120:27:16

-Lorraine, is your hubby right?

-No.

0:27:160:27:19

Of course he's not, he's a man.

0:27:190:27:22

I think we're going to make the most profit on the weighing scales.

0:27:220:27:25

I wonder what the appeal was in the potato scales?

0:27:250:27:29

-Oh, I wouldn't know. Chips, maybe?

-Chips, mmm...

0:27:290:27:32

There must be a link there somewhere, but it's lost on me.

0:27:320:27:35

THEY LAUGH

0:27:350:27:36

Now, tell me, what was your spend on these three treasures?

0:27:360:27:39

-We've spent £135.

-Yup.

-OK, so you owe me, one way or another, £165.

0:27:390:27:45

-We do.

-Who's got that? Thank you very much. There's a budget for you.

0:27:450:27:49

-What think you of that, Christina?

-Why, thank you kindly, my love.

0:27:490:27:52

-There was a bit of long list of things that we didn't get for you, weren't there?

-Yeah.

0:27:520:27:56

So think I might maybe...

0:27:560:27:59

..revisit one of those.

0:27:590:28:00

Now, while Christina's off on her shopping travels, we're off to the auction.

0:28:000:28:04

We have travelled from Peterborough to Lichfield

0:28:130:28:18

and to Richard Winterton's Auction Room with Richard Winterton himself.

0:28:180:28:21

-How are you, Richard?

-I'm very well and delighted to have you here, Paul.

-Thank you very much.

0:28:210:28:25

Well, look at this offering from Yasmin and Prashant.

0:28:250:28:28

What an interesting little trio we have.

0:28:280:28:30

Certainly, the smell of the sea in the air with our binnacle compass.

0:28:300:28:35

-You rate it?

-It's interesting.

0:28:350:28:37

Personally, it doesn't do a lot for me.

0:28:370:28:39

-I think if you lived on the coast or you have a kind of interest...

-OK, yeah.

0:28:390:28:42

..it's all good, because it's well weathered.

0:28:420:28:44

What do you rate it at, pounds, shillings and pence-wise?

0:28:440:28:47

-We've gone £20-£25.

-OK.

0:28:470:28:50

The dealer would not budge.

0:28:500:28:51

It had to be 60, it was 60.

0:28:510:28:53

Probably a bit cautious on my part on it. But I can see the appeal.

0:28:530:28:56

Fingers crossed.

0:28:560:28:58

Now, from there, we go to, well, an arguably iconic

0:28:580:29:02

White Star Line poster.

0:29:020:29:04

-But any age to it?

-No.

0:29:040:29:06

-Probably not done that long ago.

-What can I say?

0:29:060:29:09

It's individual A4 elements, pasted on a bit of...

0:29:090:29:13

somebody has photocopied it and stuck it together.

0:29:130:29:16

-Student's bedroom wall stuff.

-It is, and that is. Again, that's probably where the market will be.

0:29:160:29:20

Someone will want it on their bedroom wall, you know.

0:29:200:29:23

-And hopefully it's the right money.

-What are the numbers?

0:29:230:29:25

We haven't actually put a guide on it, I'm really sorry!

0:29:250:29:28

-Which means it's under a tenner!

-OK.

0:29:280:29:31

Prash and Yasmin both think this is where all their profits lie

0:29:310:29:34

-and they paid £60 for it! So...

-Oh, dear, Paul.

0:29:340:29:37

-Oh...

-I think we move on.

0:29:370:29:39

Shall we? Hastily!

0:29:390:29:41

Now, we've left the sea

0:29:410:29:43

and now we're in the parlour

0:29:430:29:45

with the Victorian "cat-back" sewing machine.

0:29:450:29:48

Tell me about it.

0:29:480:29:50

-I think this could be a little sleeper.

-Go on.

-I do.

0:29:500:29:53

I think it's just got that look.

0:29:530:29:55

I love the serpentine look on the top.

0:29:550:29:58

And I just think that the sewing machine...out there boys

0:29:580:30:01

that go and collect this sort of thing,

0:30:010:30:03

I think they could just want to add this to their collection.

0:30:030:30:06

OK. An uncommon... Jones, of course, are associated with the cat-backs.

0:30:060:30:10

But this isn't.

0:30:100:30:11

This is a lesser manufacturer, a rarer manufacturer, perhaps.

0:30:110:30:15

The condition, the enamelling, the gilding.

0:30:150:30:18

Everything looks great about it.

0:30:180:30:20

You've got it on the head there, really.

0:30:200:30:22

It is an unreal... small manufacturer.

0:30:220:30:25

That is what they want, that little bit of difference, don't they?

0:30:250:30:28

-What are the numbers?

-We've gone 40-60.

-OK.

0:30:280:30:30

And you are ever-cautious. So you're thinking it could do more than that.

0:30:300:30:34

I think... Yes, with a little twist we could get up to double.

0:30:340:30:37

Fantastic. That is good news.

0:30:370:30:39

Prash and Yasmin paid £40 for that.

0:30:390:30:42

-They've done well.

-Did we steal?

-They've done OK.

0:30:420:30:45

Well, that's great news.

0:30:450:30:46

If the sewing machine doesn't do it, they may require a bonus buy.

0:30:460:30:50

Let's go and see what Philip bought.

0:30:500:30:52

I just thought in case we ever got that sinking feeling...

0:30:540:30:57

LAUGHTER

0:30:570:30:59

As you know, we saw it. It was £35.

0:31:010:31:03

And it's clearly not Titanic.

0:31:030:31:05

If it was, it would probably be 300,000!

0:31:050:31:08

I still like it. Phil, is there any mileage in this?

0:31:080:31:11

Do you know what, it's a gamble, isn't it?

0:31:110:31:13

-It could make £40 or £50.

-Very nice.

-You don't have to decide now.

0:31:130:31:17

We'll do that after your lots have sold at the auction.

0:31:170:31:20

In the meantime, let's go and see if the auctioneer

0:31:200:31:23

gets a sinking feeling over Phil's bonus buy.

0:31:230:31:26

-Now, then, what can I say about this?

-What CAN you say about this?

0:31:280:31:32

-It's a bit of fun.

-I think you've got it. It's a bit of fun.

0:31:320:31:35

I think that's where... Yes, it's a bit of fun.

0:31:350:31:38

As long as they haven't paid more than a tenner, we'll be OK.

0:31:380:31:41

Therein lies a problem. Philip paid £35 for that.

0:31:410:31:45

Did he?

0:31:450:31:46

He might need that life jacket!

0:31:460:31:48

PAUL LAUGHS

0:31:480:31:50

That's that for the Reds.

0:31:500:31:51

-And now to the Blues.

-Hm.

0:31:530:31:55

Lorraine and Simon, well, they've got some stand-out pieces there,

0:31:550:31:59

have they not?

0:31:590:32:00

The first of which, our churn or barrel, call it what you will.

0:32:000:32:04

Little bit of bargeware. That's what it is.

0:32:040:32:06

I think it's spot-on. Yeah.

0:32:060:32:08

-Again, commercial piece.

-Yeah.

-More for the outdoor sort of look.

0:32:080:32:12

Again, people buy it. It's commercial. That's what it is.

0:32:120:32:15

-What do you price that at?

-We've gone 30 to 40.

0:32:150:32:17

Spot-on. They paid £40. So we're in the right territory for sure.

0:32:170:32:21

-Yeah, perfect.

-OK. Now, the scales.

0:32:210:32:23

Holy Moses, the mother of all scales!

0:32:230:32:25

What do you reckon?

0:32:250:32:27

-Well, I love this sort of thing.

-Yeah.

0:32:270:32:29

Again, it's the same theme. It's ready to go...to go outside.

0:32:290:32:32

It's decorative.

0:32:320:32:33

-What are the numbers? What are they weighing in at?

-We've got 30 to 40.

0:32:330:32:37

Which again is in the right territory,

0:32:370:32:39

because they paid 40, and you're cautious, so I think it bodes well.

0:32:390:32:43

From the rustic to the downright trendy,

0:32:430:32:47

what do you reckon to the heater?

0:32:470:32:49

-Love it.

-Yeah?

-It's modern, it's in. It's fresh.

0:32:490:32:53

It's right in the mode, what people are after at the moment.

0:32:530:32:56

-Yeah. In Lichfield?

-Yes, in Lichfield.

0:32:560:32:58

We're trendy in Lichfield! Yeah.

0:32:580:33:01

-And we've gone 20 to 30.

-It's going to do more than that, we hope.

0:33:010:33:04

It needs to. They paid £55,

0:33:040:33:05

and it doesn't seem too much at that, does it?

0:33:050:33:08

-No, I think you're spot-on again.

-Absolutely.

0:33:080:33:10

They may not need a bonus buy, but nevertheless, let's see what it is.

0:33:100:33:14

At the end of the day, you spent £135,

0:33:140:33:17

leaving Christina £165 to invest wisely.

0:33:170:33:21

What did you go and buy?

0:33:210:33:23

Well, I don't know whether I've invested wisely!

0:33:230:33:26

However, I do feel that I've got something which you loved.

0:33:260:33:31

-So I wanted to revisit that.

-Ooh.

0:33:310:33:33

My little friends!

0:33:340:33:36

THEY LAUGH

0:33:360:33:37

-Your little friends.

-Lovely.

-Do you like?

-I do.

0:33:370:33:39

I still like them.

0:33:390:33:40

You loved them when we saw them the first time round, didn't you?

0:33:400:33:43

You take one, you take one.

0:33:430:33:44

So, William Devenport, who was a maker in Birmingham.

0:33:440:33:47

And they're actually fully hallmarked on there

0:33:470:33:49

for Birmingham 1907.

0:33:490:33:51

I paid £50 for them.

0:33:510:33:53

-Oh, OK.

-That's all right.

-I think that's OK.

0:33:530:33:56

-You like that?

-Yeah.

-Very much so.

0:33:560:33:57

I suspect you're on the verge of making a decision, but don't.

0:33:570:34:01

Leave that until the auction of your lots.

0:34:010:34:05

In the meantime, let's go and see if the auctioneer thinks

0:34:050:34:08

Christina's pepperettes will spice up the Blues' profits.

0:34:080:34:11

-Do you like the little condiments?

-I do.

0:34:130:34:15

And they've got a good look as well, aren't they?

0:34:150:34:17

You know, and I had a look.

0:34:170:34:19

You usually see these dented, don't you, and all that?

0:34:190:34:21

But these are OK.

0:34:210:34:23

The more I look at them, the more I like them.

0:34:230:34:25

We've gone 30 to 40 on it, which, you know...

0:34:250:34:27

It's getting in the right direction.

0:34:270:34:29

This is the pattern with the Blues' purchases.

0:34:290:34:32

Christina paid 50, which sounds like no money for a pair,

0:34:320:34:35

a good pair, of atypical Edwardian pepperettes.

0:34:350:34:40

-I think we're not far away.

-Well, are you taking the auction, Richard?

0:34:400:34:43

-I am.

-I feel we're in safe hands, and I'm looking forward to this one.

0:34:430:34:46

-Good luck to you.

-Thank you.

0:34:460:34:48

-Is this familiar territory to you, the auction room?

-I don't think so.

0:34:550:34:58

-No.

-No, never.

-Seriously?

-Yeah.

0:34:580:35:00

OK, folks, here is the compass now.

0:35:000:35:03

Good example. Lot 405. Commission bids are in at £20 bid.

0:35:030:35:06

5. 30. 5.

0:35:060:35:08

-Off and running.

-40. 5. 45 with me.

0:35:080:35:12

45 I'm bid. 45 I'm bid. 45.

0:35:120:35:14

£50 front row. £50 here. £50 I'm bid.

0:35:140:35:18

£50 I'm bid. £50 I'm bid.

0:35:180:35:20

£50 on the front row. At £50. All done?

0:35:200:35:24

All finished. Sold at 50.

0:35:240:35:28

That isn't bad. £50. £10 loss.

0:35:280:35:32

You can take that on the chin.

0:35:320:35:34

Here's the poster.

0:35:350:35:37

In your hands on this one. £10.

0:35:370:35:39

8. £10. 15.

0:35:390:35:41

£20 at the back of the room. £20 I'm bid. £20. £20.

0:35:410:35:45

25. £30. 35. £40.

0:35:450:35:49

45. 45 there. 45. 45. £50. £60.

0:35:490:35:55

Here at £60.

0:35:550:35:58

In here at 60. In here at 60.

0:35:580:36:01

All done and finished at £60.

0:36:010:36:04

3909.

0:36:050:36:07

I've got to say, when you disrespected the poster...

0:36:070:36:11

THEY LAUGH

0:36:110:36:13

407. A lot of interest on this one.

0:36:130:36:15

The sewing machine. There's a lot of interest in this sewing machine.

0:36:150:36:17

Here it comes now.

0:36:170:36:19

A lot of condition reports. Loads of bids on the book.

0:36:190:36:21

I'm in at £70. At 80, 90,

0:36:210:36:24

100, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 160.

0:36:240:36:29

With me at 160. Internet come again. 170.

0:36:290:36:32

170 with the internet. 180 with the internet.

0:36:320:36:36

190 with the internet.

0:36:360:36:37

-What?!

-190 with the internet.

-What?!

-190 with the internet.

0:36:370:36:41

190 with the internet. 200, the internet.

0:36:410:36:44

-We've got this all sewn up!

-£200 with the internet.

0:36:440:36:46

200 with the internet. 200 bid. 210 bid, internet.

0:36:460:36:51

-It's nonstop yet!

-210 with the internet.

0:36:510:36:54

210 with the internet.

0:36:540:36:55

You coming again? No. Sold. 210.

0:36:570:37:02

-Internet bid.

-£210.

0:37:020:37:04

-That is... PHILIP:

-Look at her little...!

0:37:040:37:08

170 clear profit on one lot.

0:37:080:37:12

-We've forgotten about...

-160... £160.

0:37:120:37:17

I've got to say, you may have stitched this up!

0:37:170:37:20

It's astonishing!

0:37:200:37:22

-You don't need the bonus buy.

-We don't need the life belt!

-But...

0:37:220:37:25

But it's there.

0:37:250:37:27

What are you going to do?

0:37:270:37:28

Are you going to gamble some of this big profit?

0:37:280:37:31

-Mmm...

-THEY LAUGH

0:37:310:37:32

-No.

-I think we'll stay away from the life belt.

-Yes.

0:37:320:37:35

We'll stay away from the life jacket.

0:37:350:37:37

Moving now - lot 413.

0:37:370:37:39

We're moving now to the life jacket.

0:37:390:37:41

-Lot 413. Nothing on my book.

-Nothing.

0:37:410:37:45

In your hands.

0:37:450:37:47

Where are you going to be? £10?

0:37:470:37:49

Bid.

0:37:490:37:51

15. 20.

0:37:510:37:54

-Healthy increments.

-£20 in the room.

0:37:550:37:57

-Yours at £20.

-PHILIP:

-I think it's sinking!

0:37:570:37:59

£20?

0:37:590:38:01

Upturn... Hammer's up. Sold at 20.

0:38:010:38:05

Yours, sir. 2290.

0:38:050:38:08

You made the right call. You walked away.

0:38:090:38:11

-I think we dodged that iceberg!

-Mind you...

0:38:110:38:13

Not bad. 20 I think is probably more than might... £160.

0:38:130:38:18

Now, don't be counting any chickens before they're hatched.

0:38:180:38:21

You never know how the Blues are going to do.

0:38:210:38:24

0:40:390:40:41

In Bargain Hunt that could be a winner.

0:40:410:40:44

What are you going to do about the lovely little pair of silver...?

-We're going for...

0:40:470:40:49

The auctioneer, cautious, £30-£40,

0:40:490:40:53

against a purchase price of 50.

0:40:530:40:56

But he has been cautious.

0:40:560:40:59

I think it's there or thereabouts.

0:40:590:41:01

A pair of the silver condiments there.

0:41:470:41:50

And a much relieved expert.

0:41:500:41:52

Could do it. So, say nothing, OK?

0:41:520:41:57

-No confab with the Reds.

-Not a word.

0:41:570:41:59

Well, I wish I could say it was a close-run thing!

0:42:130:42:18

But, sadly, there is a bit of a chasm

0:42:180:42:21

between the winners and the losers.

0:42:210:42:24

-Sadly, today, the losers are the Blue team.

-No!

0:42:240:42:29

-Guys!

-Never mind.

0:42:290:42:31

And at the end of the day, you lost all of £13, which...

0:42:310:42:35

-No shame in that in Bargain Hunt.

-Could have been worse.

0:42:350:42:37

Could have been far worse.

0:42:370:42:39

Well done, you guys. And commiserations.
