-I got an idea in my head #

-John ac Alun from Tudweiliog have

-been singing together since 1989...

-..but John performed with Y Melinwyr

-around the Lleyn Peninsula...

-..whilst Alun was with a rock band

-in London and folk band in Ipswich.

-In the last 25 years,

-they have entertained the masses...

-..presented four television series

-and two programmes called Bws Gwlad.

-Welcome to a new series

-with me, John...

-..and me, Alun and we hope you

-join us for the next six weeks.

-They've presented on Radio Cymru for

-20 years and have 20,000 listeners.

-Their first cassette

-was Yr Wylan Wen in 1991.

-Their latest CD called Hir a Hwyr

-is their tenth collection of songs.

-I feel terrible for cutting across

-John ac Alun's rehearsals.

-I'm sorry for interrupting you.

-There's high expectations

-for this long-awaited album.

-There's an interesting story

-behind it.

-Yes, and it was quite different.

-We have some software on

-the computer that can do all sorts.

-We gave the songs our own essence,

-recorded them on the computer...

-..and planned to take them

-to the studio.

-As time passed, we had it all

-so decided to do it ourselves...

-..and recorded our voices

-and the guitars at my home.

-We exchanged the files

-with John Williams in Bangor...

-..who plays the keyboard.

-We swapped files online, did the

-mixing and this is the end result!

-You were just rehearsing the song,

-Can Taid which is apt for you both.

-Yes, and my voice is going

-before the concert!

-Can Taid is apt

-as we're both grandfathers now.

-Myrddin ap Dafydd penned the lyrics

-and Alun wrote the music.

-We've performed it at gigs and hope

-it pleases the audience tonight.

-Yes, and we haven't performed with a

-full band in a theatre for a while.

-of last year's BBC Wales series...

-..series two of Alfie's Angels

-hits our screens a week tonight.

-Before we meet the new Angels,

-let's return to last year's laughs.

-Outside ladies. Outside.

-Twelve months ago, Welsh rugby

-legend, Gareth Alfie Thomas...

-..took on his biggest challenge yet.

-Training a team of 16 fun-loving

-but totally unfit ladies...

-..to run the Cardiff Half Marathon.

-OMG!

-It was 16 weeks of pure purgatory.

-But in the end, all 16 of Alfie's

-Angels crossed that finish line.

-We did it!

-One year on, glutton for punishment,

-Alfie is back for second helpings.

-We're now joined by some

-of Alfie's latest recruits.

-We welcome Angela Killa, Claire

-Davies, Rhian Francis and Elin Zyck.

-They are the Pontarddulais Pounders.

-The challenge this year

-is much more.

-It's much bigger this year.

-Last year, there was 15 women.

-This year, there's over 100.

-The series will follow three teams.

-I think the rest of us will be

-in the background.

-Who decided to take part?

-It was Elin's idea.

-I saw something on Twitter.

-I thought it was something

-that would help with our fitness.

-I never thought we'd be chosen.

-I asked the girls about it.

-Nobody said no about doing it.

-We're all happy to support Elin.

-The doctor said

-that I should do this.

-Ten years ago,

-I had a heart transplant.

-I thought I could do something...

-..to raise money for the hospital.

-What about your fitness levels?

-I hadn't done

-any running before this.

-We weren't sure about doing it.

-We didn't expect to be chosen

-to take part!

-We panicked when we heard

-that we'd been chosen.

-My husband bought me trainers

-for my birthday.

-What challenges

-have you undertaken so far?

-It's great to see

-how we've all developed.

-I think it's quite amazing.

-We're all much fitter.

-We've run further than

-we've ever run before!

-What's it like being in front of the

-cameras?

-The cameras just turn up.

-We've met Gareth twice.

-We did a run last week.

-It was great to do that.

-There's a team that support us

-and inspire us.

-You're taking part in

-the Cardiff Half Marathon.

-It's three weeks away.

-We're doing the 10k in Swansea

-first.

-The run on Sunday was longer

-than a 10k.

-We know that we can do it.

-I think we'll all cross

-the finish line...

-I think we'll need a drink

-at the end of it all.

-Will you stick together in the race?

-We all run at different speeds...

-..so I don't think

-we'll be running together.

-There's only three men

-in all the Angels.

-I think they are very brave!

-Our next stop is Cardiff.

-A two-day event was launched today

-at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

-It aims to bring a taste of various

-sports for those with disabilities.

-Rhodri Gomer

-was among the festivities.

-Since Team GB experienced resounding

-success at the London Paralympics...

-..Wales has witnessed an increase

-in the number of disability sports.

-The Paralympic Games

-have started in Rio...

-..and Disability Sport Wales aims to

-nurture Welsh future sporting stars.

-The London Olympics provided a stage

-for disabled athletes to shine.

-In the past, the public has been

-guilty of showing pity on them.

-Now, these athletes

-are taken seriously.

-They're professionals and have to

-train harder than abled athletes.

-What do the youngsters

-gain from this experience?

-It's great that everyone

-has the ability to do everything.

-Disabled children have the chance

-to do similar things.

-Lois has enjoying shooting.

-You like shooting and climbing.

-You've had a lot of fun.

-Why do you enjoy sport so much?

-It's fun and you're able to learn.

-You can be like the athletes in Rio.

-I've enjoyed the rock climbing.

-I've had fun playing

-football in a wheelchair.

-I've mostly enjoyed the trampoline.

-Have you been able to play

-disability sports in the past?

-No, and I hope to do it again.

-This is the 13th year for this event

-to be held in Cyncoed.

-Over the next two days...

-..600 to 700 children and youngsters

-are expected to enjoy activities.

-The children are able to try sports

-for the first time.

-Tomorrow night, Phil Pratt competes

-with the wheelchair basketball team.

-Children are able to try

-this sport here for the first time.

-Sport can transform lives.

-As a youngster, I wanted to play

-football, badminton and shooting.

-I always thought I couldn't do it.

-But Disability Sport Wales

-can offer this and change lives.

-Now, I've got the confidence

-to take part in all sorts of sports.

-Everyone's welcome to the athletics

-club in Cyncoed tomorrow...

-..between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

-as there'll be plenty of fun here.

-That's a good question!

-I had an operation.

-I didn't want to sit at home

-and do nothing...

-..so I wrote some songs.

-They are bilingual.

-It's difficult to get away

-from the songs by Mojo...

-..but my own music has influences...

-..from the Blues and Rock world.

-You're popular in Scotland.

-I've had a great response

-from around the world.

-from one of my heroes.

-Everyone in Mojo

-has done solo projects.

-I've been able to work

-with artists from Anglesey...

-the National Children's Orchestra...

-..at Rossall School near Blackpool.

-We'll go to the Royal Albert Hall

-and perform in the Proms.

-I like all genres of music

-but especially modern music.

-One of my favourite pieces is Con

-Anima for solo viola by Dave Philip.

-It truly showcases the viola

-and demands skill and energy.

-It's quite schizophrenic.

-Most people think of the viola

-as the poor relation of the violin.

-I think that's totally wrong

-as it creates a warm sound.

-It cannot reach as high

-but creates a much better sound.

-I'm so excited about the Last Night

-of the Proms on Saturday.

-I'm going to London

-with my parents...

-..and will meet my teacher,

-Margaret Scourse.

-She's so energetic

-with all her pupils.

-will be a great experience.

-It's full of produce and smiling

-This is the climax of many weeks

-of hard work for you, Rhys.

-Yes, it's been months of talks

-and jumping through various hoops.

-I'm happy to see all the produce

-that I hope it will be sold today.

-The producers are happy

-and there's customers in the shop.

-Everyone behind the project is happy

-and I'm sure it will be successful.

-produce that we have in the area.

-None of the producers would have

-brought their items to sell here...

-..if they weren't confident

-about having quality produce.

-that covers over 50 miles.

-We wanted a course from Betws-y-Coed

-and travelled around Snowdonia.

-It goes from Betws-y-Coed to

-Dolwyddelan, Blaenau Ffestiniog...

-..Croesor, Nantmor, Beddgelert,

-Llanberis, Bethesda, Capel Curig...

-..before returning to Betws-y-Coed.

-It was meant to be a 50-mile-race

-but it's just under 60 miles.

-Everyone is very happy

-with the extra 10% for free!

-The Snowdon 50 race has developed

-from the area...

-..and many local people have helped.

-The first male and female to cross

-the line wins a shepherd's crook.

-Geth P lives nearby

-and he's made the crooks.

-The medals are made by Dai Jones...

-Among the cast is a young actor

-who is going to be a big name.

-the role of Banquo's son.

-But mind you, Tomi Llywelyn is no

-stranger to the performing world.

-I started performing at Eisteddfods

-and won a role on television.

-Last year I was fortunate

-to get a role in Les Mis.

-Everyone!

-It sounds like a cliche but Tomi's

-sung since he's been able to talk.

-He sings without realising it

-and it's something innate.

-His big sister who's two years older

-started to compete at Eisteddfods...

-..when he was four years old,

-and he was eager to partake.

-He took to the National Eisteddfod

-stage at the tender age of five...

-..and it all evolved from here.

-From Eisteddfod stages

-to Noson Lawen stages...

-..to appearing in Les Mis

-with the Urdd last year...

-..Tomi's already made an impression.

-But the operatic world

-is a different kettle of fish.

-You can't hear

-the Llanrug accent on set.

-No, there are different languages

-being spoken, but I do like this.

-My English isn't the best

-so I was slightly worried.

-Macbeth is played by a Spaniard

-and Lady Macbeth is from America.

-The conductor is from Ukraine and

-the chorus are Spanish and American.

-And among them is a young Welsh lad.

-He's very young but displays

-vocal and acting potential.

-This is an early Shakespearean opera

-featuring a Shakespearean dialogue.

-It's a leading opera

-in the operatic world.

-Tomi plays a small,

-yet relevant character.

-He murders Macbeth in this version.

-He carries out something sinister

-but he's hope for Scotland's future.

-And what about Tomi's future?

-I also work in the media and tried

-to steer my children away from it.

-But my daughter's in Rownd a Rownd

-and my son is an opera star.

-It proved to be unsuccessful!

-One way or another,

-your ambition is to perform.

-Yes, I'd like to be a performer.

-I'd like to perform in the West End

-and play Gavroche in Les Miserables.
