-..to raise money for charities

-that are very close to our hearts.

-It's on Sunday 1 May at the

-pavilion in Pontrhydfendigaid.

-There are two concerts

-on 1 May at 3.00pm and 8.00pm.

-We're going to remember

-and celebrate the life of Mered.

-There's some great singers present.

-We've enjoyed Dr Meredydd Evans'

-company on Heno for over 25 years.

-Let's remind ourselves of some

-of the times that he joined us.

-of our night of fun and frolics #

-How would you define a folk song?

-I don't think I can offer you

-a concise definition of it...

-..but it does have

-specific features.

-I suspect

-the most prominent feature...

-..is that it's a song

-that is from the past.

-Over the years,

-someone has remembered the song.

-# Beside the seaside,

-is my sweetheart

-# Sleeping at night

-and rising in the morning #

-You still sing...

-..and your granddaughter sings

-Hen feic Peni-Ffardding fy Nhaid.

-Yes, and she didn't know it was

-written by her grandfather.

-the William Salisbury Trust.

-The Trust gives funds to students...

-The concert is on Sunday 1 May at

-It's organized by the Trust.

-Mered didn't want the concert

-to be named after him.

-We've sadly lost him.

-I think he'd be happy

-that we've named it after him.

-We hope it will be an annual event.

-A lot of the performers have said...

-..that Mered was an inspiration to

-them.

-We've got Linda singing with

-Heather Jones is singing

-Mered penned the melody

-The poster shows that Mered's spirit

-It wasn't a sponsored walk or cycle

-..to go to Narberth and Fishguard

-to catch the ferry to Ireland.

-We'll spend four days in Ireland...

-..and meet clubs from Wexford

-and Kilkenny to do some displays.

-We're raising money

-for Meningitis UK and CRY.

-Dat-cu is organizing

-the classic car tour to Ireland.

-We've got everything from

-Escorts to three-wheelers and MGs.

-They all come out and get a polish

-at this time of year.

-I've got an MX5

-and it's about 24 years old.

-It's very quick

-with an 1,800cc engine.

-There's a breakdown truck

-if anything goes wrong!

-My husband rebuilt the engine

-in the last month...

-..so I haven't seen a lot of him.

-It's got us this far so I hope it'll

-be alright but we have a tow rope!

-We've come to join the team

-on their trip to Ireland.

-We left Colwyn Bay on the

-northern point of Wales at 6.15am...

-..in our lovely,

-blue Ford Escort Mk II.

-I'm the youngest person on the trip

-and I'll be with Dat-cu.

-It's also my first time

-so I hope to enjoy it.

-I did it two years ago and had fun

-so I'm back again.

-I'm just a passenger on the trip.

-There's a good crowd and I hope

-the weather is in our favour.

-Good luck to them and we'll keep in

-touch with them during their trip.

-The Bedwen Lyfrau Festival is a book

-It gives you a taster

-I got the idea when I visited

-Barcelona over ten years ago.

-This is our tenth year and

-the festival is growing each year.

-We're excited to be launching

-a dozen new books on Saturday...

-..that range from children's books

-to adult novels and factual books.

-There's a book by the Welsh-language

-Children's Poet Laureate, Anni Llyn.

-She's written a series of poems

-based on sport...

-..and invited former poet laureates,

-including myself to do the same.

-She's going to read some of the

-poems at the launch on Saturday.

-Geraint Lovgreen is also chatting

-with Myfanwy Alexander.

-Myfanwy's second novel

-is being launched at the festival.

-She released her first novel

-at the Meifod Eisteddfod.

-It's a funny, detective novel

-that's easy to read.

-Gymraeg Glantaf in Cardiff...

-..nothing could beat the excitement

-of a school rugby match.

-Last night, the school launched a

-new academy for future rugby stars.

-Our cameras captured it all.

-Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf

-is proud of its rugby heritage.

-Over the years, it has produced

-international players...

-..such as Jamie Roberts

-and Rhys Patchell.

-In order to secure

-the future of the game in Wales...

-..they have launched a rugby academy

-with the Wales Rugby Union.

-In order to develop, we had to

-ensure the lads at Glantaf...

-..didn't have to move away

-to work on their rugby skills.

-We've worked with the WRU and have

-been able to achieve this academy.

-Last night, they held an event

-to mark this special milestone...

-..and a well-known local lad spoke

-to the pupils and their parents.

-I'm honoured to be here

-to launch the academy in Glantaf.

-It's fantastic that this is the only

-Welsh-language school in Wales...

-..that plays rugby

-in the Colleges League.

-I had a lot of opportunities

-in the school to play seven-a-side.

-I'm very grateful for everything

-they taught me about rugby.

-I remember starting at the school

-as a twelve-year-old.

-I still have close friends

-from those early days at school...

-..that led me to international rugby

-so I'm very grateful to Glantaf.

-We had a situation where many of

-our players were leaving school...

-..and moving to institutions

-that offered an academy.

-The school lost students...

-..but those students were also

-forced to train through English.

-We had the opportunity

-to keep our talented players...

-..whilst being able to educate them

-through the medium of Welsh.

-Education is still important.

-At Glantaf, we have a timetable

-that doesn't affect their A levels.

-A pupil can do four A levels,

-a Welsh Baccalaureate...

-..whilst still playing

-12 hours of rugby a week.

-I'm so excited

-and can't wait for the new season.

-We've had a successful season

-and I look forward to the future.

-They have an excellent gym,

-pitches and first-class coaches...

-..to ensure that they can reach

-the top of their game.

-It's the only place to be if they

-want a Welsh-language education...

-..whilst being able to play rugby

-at the highest level.

-Earlier, we heard that Glantaf beat

-Crickhowell High School by 31-21.

-They have reached the finals

-of the Welsh Schools League.

-Congratulations to them.

-Today, Queen Elizabeth II is marking

-the milestone of her 90th birthday.

-Celebrations

-have been held all day...

-..and Caws Cenarth Cheese

-joined the festivities.

-We're celebrating

-the Queen's 90th birthday.

-We've invited guests to join us

-for a cup of tea or coffee.

-We've also prepared some cakes

-for them.

-Several corgis have also visited

-Caws Cenarth today.

-We're celebrating the day with a

-brand-new cheese that has champagne.

-Every visitor to the shop

-gets a free piece of the cheese.

-My job is to choose the ingredients

-that are included in the cheeses...

-..and what will appeal to customers.

-It's a strong cheese

-with a hint of champagne.

-It provides a little kick

-to the cheese.

-The royal family aren't strangers

-to this farm.

-No, we've had a close connection

-to the family since 1933...

-..because my father raised corgis.

-He bred the first dog to produce

-the dog that was sold to the palace.

-He was called Dookie.

-He was a special dog

-who thought very highly of himself.

-Therefore, he was a suitable

-candidate for the palace!

-Will the royal family be visiting

-in the near future?

-The Prince has visited twice.

-Two years ago,

-he returned to open our new shop.

-I had the honour of taking him

-on a tour of the factory.

-Perhaps he'll visit again,

-or even Kate and William.

-It's been a pleasure to visit

-and celebrate the Queen's birthday.

-I've purchased a good selection

-of cheese after sampling them.

-I've also received

-a special block of cheese...

-..that was produced to mark

-the Queen's birthday.

-I'm celebrating my birthday

-on the same day as the Queen.

-It's been great

-and a very special day.

-Happy birthday to everyone

-who is celebrating today...

-..and especially Enfys Davey Jones

-from Cardiff who is two today.

-Best wishes from Mami, Dadi, the

-whole family and everyone on Heno.

-in their concerts this summer.

-We're going to be in Cardiff,

-Wrexham and many other places.

-time tomorrow for another Heno.

-We're chatting with the professional

-darts player, Johnny Clayton.

-Running over 26 miles

-is a feat in itself...

-..but the majority of those taking

-part in the London Marathon...
