-at a Postgraduate Medical Centre...

-We have a building for the staff.

-There's a day centre.

-We usually go out to see our

-patients at home.

-How many staff are there?

-We have a doctor,

-ten nurses and a physiotherapist.

-We also have office staff.

-We have a body of staff.

-Today, the Hospice employs

-46 staff.

-Multi-disciplinary specialist

-palliative care professionals...

-..are supported by more

-than 170 volunteers.

-We care for 500 existing patients

-with new referrals every year.

-We have more than 12,000 patient and

-family contacts...

-..which are made by the

-multi-disciplinary team...

-..bereavement support and specialist

-out of hours services.

-We see some patients daily,

-some weekly.

-Our nurses are constantly on call.

-What services do you offer?

-The doctor is there for those

-who need to see a doctor.

-The nurses are there to see

-what the patients need.

-The patients feel better after

-seeing the therapist.

-How long have you been there?

-I've worked with the Hospice for ten

-years and finished last year.

-However, I still help them.

-For many years, I was a Clinical

-Nurse Specialist.

-However, I'm now a

-Bank Registered Nurse...

-..and I work with patients

-overnight.

-The people of the area are grateful

-for my support and care.

-I'm there to make sure that the

-family get to sleep overnight.

-The support that we give is

-essential to the families.

-The whole family feel the illness.

-We want to help the families.

-How difficult is fund raising?

-Money is needed

-to keep the service going.

-We get a little amount

-from the health board...

-..but the rest of the money comes

-from the community.

-There isn't a lot of money

-in the area...

-..but people give us what they can.

-We have charity shops in the area.

-Everything helps.

-It is difficult to continue

-fundraising.

-It is sometimes even busier

-..as many people want to be home for

-Christmas.

-The people can call us for help.

-I like seeing the clay going into

-the kiln and coming out different.

-It's a really enjoyable process.

-The wind picked up, so we stepped

-inside Caryl's cosy creative shed.

-How long does it take for you

-to make these various items?

-A plate takes a few of hours to make

-but a vase like this takes days.

-I make it in a mould, so they have

-to dry out before I can work on it.

-They refer to it as "leather hard"

-and that's when I know it's dried.

-A milk pitcher is in the mould

-for about 30 minutes...

-..before I start to work on it

-for about two or three hours.

-It's a long process as they are

-fired in the kiln for 15 hours.

-I paint them and return them

-to the kiln for another 15 hours.

-You enjoy making milk pitchers.

-Yes, I've been making pitchers

-since my first year at college.

-They've become very popular and

-I sell them at fairs and from home.

-This used to be your father's shed.

-How does he feel about you

-taking it over?

-I don't think he's happy but if I'm

-successful he will think otherwise.

-You've had some success, so are you

-happy with how it's all worked out?

-Yes, I've got an exhibition at King

-Street Gallery, Carmarthen in 2017.

-I'll have to wait and see

-I'm working on a plate
