of north-eastern Scotland. Dozens of people had

to leave their homes in Aberdeenshire, after heavy rain

caused rivers to overflow, and further south, snow has been

but our reporter John McManus has been in Port Elphinstone,

near Inverurie. Port Elphinstone this morning,

another north-east town hit by flooding. Several streets recovering

from the onslaught last night by the River Don. Hundreds of people have

evacuated their homes, but this morning, emergency workers and

others were concerned about some of them. I am checking on one of our

service users, I hung a carer and I am checking that she is OK. Have you

managed to contact? The firemen are looking in the house at the moment.

Laura McIntosh's ground floor flat was inundated. I saw the water

rising onto the pavement outside and we thought, get out. She heard the

flood warnings and try to prepare. There was no time to get sandbags.

We just packed a few things and left basically. It was not until this

morning that we knew that there were reports getting everything out of

the flats. This is what she was escaping. The River Don sweeping

through the town. Families grabbing what they could and then being

ferried out on ambulances. Inevitably, there was confusion.

around 50 cars were stuck on the A7 between Langholm and Longtown

in Dumfries and Galloway. The A68 near Jedburgh was also

blocked by vehicles There have been heavy falls

across Ayrshire and Lanarkshire, Snow also fell in Central Scotland,

and women drink no more than 14 units a week,

with some alcohol-free days. It's less than was previously

down South, the next area of rain starts to arrive and pushes and
