had the onside, Cheick Sallah Cisse. He was up against a German in the

:00:00.:00:00.

quarterfinals and if you remember the World Cup from 2004, the Germans

:00:00.:00:08.

did well against the resilience. They decided to back an Ivory Coast

:00:09.:00:12.

fighter. It will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts and Cheick

:00:13.:00:17.

Sallah Cisse is the world number three. He would go into the final as

:00:18.:00:31.

If you have been out all day and had only just arrived back, I need to

:00:32.:00:37.

tell you it has been a historic day for British's women's sport. --

:00:38.:00:40.

British women's sport. Helen Richardson Walsh waiting in

:00:41.:00:55.

the centre of the circle. Off the legs!

:00:56.:01:01.

The Dutch are inside the circle. The angle, goal! Cullen has scored!

:01:02.:01:20.

Great Britain are level! A penalty shootout... The Golden goal! Great

:01:21.:01:33.

Britain have won the Olympic gold-medal! A first-ever gold medal

:01:34.:01:45.

for Britain's female hockey players. Amazing scenes. There was not a

:01:46.:01:51.

single penalty gotten past Maddie Lynch. Usually when we go to are

:01:52.:02:00.

penalty shootout is think," oh, no. But not with Maddie Hinch in goal.

:02:01.:02:08.

-- Madeline Hinch. Leigh you have gold-medal around your neck. Give us

:02:09.:02:15.

an idea of the feeling of that. I do know whether to laugh or cry. It's

:02:16.:02:20.

just surreal. It's believable because of us and our culture and

:02:21.:02:25.

our team spirit and the respect for each other that we have will stop

:02:26.:02:29.

its wonderful to be able to share it with everyone else because we know

:02:30.:02:35.

what we've got --. We know how special it is now everyone else can

:02:36.:02:38.

see that and that is what is so wonderful about sport. The battles

:02:39.:02:43.

that you have all had to go through, not just on the pitch but off as

:02:44.:02:47.

well. Is it possible to explain to people at home the sacrifices you

:02:48.:02:51.

will have to make? Know. Probably not. It's difficult to put into

:02:52.:02:57.

words what this means. Struggling to believe it at the moment. 17 years

:02:58.:03:01.

ago when I started my career, we were so far of this. -- off. It has

:03:02.:03:10.

just grown and grown over these last eight years or so. We have got an

:03:11.:03:16.

incredible group of players, staff, we had the belief and this just

:03:17.:03:23.

means everything, absolutely everything to get this goal. Just

:03:24.:03:27.

before I speak to Kate, I want to ask how special it is to play a long

:03:28.:03:32.

your gold-medal team alongside your wife. To get one of these but to

:03:33.:03:44.

share it with one of these with someone like her is amazing. Just to

:03:45.:03:52.

see Helen to go through double back surgery, maybe never play hockey

:03:53.:03:57.

again, the strength she has shown has resonated throughout the squad.

:03:58.:04:04.

Just so assured. I felt like more the crowd booed, the more she was

:04:05.:04:15.

going to step up to show them. When we speak to people around the squad,

:04:16.:04:21.

people have watched this around the years, it comes from the captain,

:04:22.:04:28.

the one who set the standard. It goes through everybody who touches

:04:29.:04:34.

the squad, they all have it. It's infectious. Two years ago, we went

:04:35.:04:38.

through some difficult times in the squad and we pulled together and

:04:39.:04:40.

said that we wanted to be the difference and inspired that it

:04:41.:04:45.

future. We have done that tonight. The legacy of what is going to be

:04:46.:04:53.

left behind after this night, the legacy of amazing hockey. What is

:04:54.:04:58.

the legacy? For young girls and young boys, especially women, go out

:04:59.:05:02.

and do what you want to do. If you want to be a teacher, a caretaker,

:05:03.:05:08.

hairdresser, whatever you want to be, set your sights high and both

:05:09.:05:11.

the life. We have just shown that if you go and do that, it comes true.

:05:12.:05:16.

Weller we have hunted you down for a number of years, Kate, asking, "It

:05:17.:05:23.

is your last tournament, Kate?" I'm going to ask the question for one

:05:24.:05:26.

last time just for confirmation. Is this really it?

:05:27.:05:31.

100%. I'm going to retire. I think it's a good way to go out. There is

:05:32.:05:46.

not a better way to sum it up. From all of us, it has been a magnificent

:05:47.:05:50.

journey to follow you and watch you. We wish you the very best of luck in

:05:51.:05:54.

retirement. We are so proud. Thank you. 375th international cap. She

:05:55.:06:07.

has to go down as one of the greatest sportswomen ever. They are

:06:08.:06:13.

team players. Hockey history. For Helen and Kate, the first married

:06:14.:06:21.

couple to win a gold medal for England than back in sailing. For

:06:22.:06:24.

the whole team, they came here believing that they could do it. It

:06:25.:06:27.

is just extraordinary to watch them doing it, to have such composure and

:06:28.:06:32.

confidence. That will be one of my moments of Rio. That and Nick

:06:33.:06:37.

Skelton today. Every day I can't think it's getting better but it is!

:06:38.:06:43.

To you needed tissue? You need me to go there with you? I'm just

:06:44.:06:52.

thrilled. I'm all right. Go and have a glass of something cold. Every day

:06:53.:06:56.

it feels like there are landmark moments for British sport and

:06:57.:07:00.

history is being made and the stories behind the stories make us

:07:01.:07:06.

all emotional. Virtually every day. Tomorrow, we will have Nicola Adams

:07:07.:07:11.

going for gold in the boxing. That will be around six o'clock. Aside

:07:12.:07:15.

from Nicola Adams, the only British boxer who is still going is Joe

:07:16.:07:17.

Joyce. Here's the men's superheavyweight

:07:18.:07:29.

and he was up against it today. Ivanovic go in the semifinals. He

:07:30.:07:34.

didn't get off to the best start, losing to the silver-medallist. We

:07:35.:07:37.

would join the contest at the start of the second. But gold-medallist

:07:38.:07:56.

awaits him. He has beaten both of these men in recent times. Joe Joyce

:07:57.:08:02.

getting onto the front foot and beginning to close the gap on his

:08:03.:08:10.

man. Straightaway Joe Joyce gets him. He will try and grab Ivan

:08:11.:08:16.

Dychko. We know what he is about. He is starting to tire now, Ivan

:08:17.:08:24.

Dychko. Joe Joyce is beginning to get closer. Can he begin to make

:08:25.:08:28.

that investment in body shots that will plague dividends as the contest

:08:29.:08:31.

progresses? -- paid dividends. Ivan Dychko began breathing through

:08:32.:08:52.

an open mouth moments ago. Joe Joyce looking to unload heavy artillery to

:08:53.:08:56.

the man in blue. A good right-hand over the top. I think the man in

:08:57.:09:03.

blue is hurt. A grimace. I think he is suffering here.

:09:04.:09:19.

When Joyce gets you in that position, look and end the manner in

:09:20.:09:27.

the way he can turn and sync is hooked in his opponent.

:09:28.:09:36.

It will help rapidly deplete the energy of your opponent. Ditch coat

:09:37.:09:47.

is flat-footed now. -- Ivan Dychko. Have to find the room and space.

:09:48.:10:04.

Better from Joyce. The movement of Ivan Dychko visibly slowing. Ivan

:10:05.:10:18.

Dychko, his movement, slowing to batter the glazier as Joe Joyce

:10:19.:10:22.

continues to walk him down and unload punchers from both the left

:10:23.:10:27.

and the right flank to the long, lean torso of the world ranked

:10:28.:10:28.

number one. Joe Joyce has responded brilliantly.

:10:29.:11:08.

He is walking down his man and trying to target the head and body

:11:09.:11:18.

is an go. -- Ivan Dychko. It will be at torrid three minutes for Ivan

:11:19.:11:23.

Dychko. He keeps walking on to shots. Here comes Joe Joyce again.

:11:24.:11:29.

He is wilting down to the canvas. He can barely hold his boxing stands,

:11:30.:11:34.

the reigning world champion. He is beginning to mount up. Joe Joyce

:11:35.:11:37.

swinging for the senses. This is what he has got to do. Keep

:11:38.:11:52.

throwing shots, keep going forward. He is doing the right things but he

:11:53.:11:58.

has got to keep it going. He has got to work here. Ivan Dychko, the world

:11:59.:12:06.

champion, looking to mount a rally. He is a very proud individual.

:12:07.:12:17.

To refit work to the body once again from Joe Joyce.

:12:18.:12:30.

Ivan Dychko is exhausted. The body shots are hurting him.

:12:31.:12:42.

Ivan Dychko is seemingly running on fumes. He still has two punch out

:12:43.:12:51.

shots that will keep Joe Joyce at bay. But Joe Joyce is winding up.

:12:52.:13:07.

Another one. Ivan Dychko like a tall tree that is ready to fall down

:13:08.:13:24.

after being shot to buy the body. -- by. Marching his man backwards with

:13:25.:13:31.

a heavy assault. Still Ivan Dychko stands.

:13:32.:13:36.

he has two show the judges that he is in control. Ivan Dychko trying to

:13:37.:13:52.

fight back. Can he find a couple of quality shots? Terrific performance

:13:53.:14:00.

from Joe Joyce! He raises his arms immediately. The celebration. Great

:14:01.:14:06.

Britain's Joe Joyce who conceded the opening round unanimously, responded

:14:07.:14:11.

valiantly in round number two to take that round from all three

:14:12.:14:15.

judges and sustain his assault throughout round number three.

:14:16.:14:19.

Surely, surely Great Britain's Joe Joyce will go through to the Olympic

:14:20.:14:24.

old medal bout and look to emulate the accomplishments. He fought toe

:14:25.:14:37.

to toe. Joe Joyce, tremendous stuff. The body language at the end, it was

:14:38.:14:42.

Joyce, he was on that front foot. It was better.

:14:43.:14:54.

ANNOUNCER: The winner by a unanimous decision in the red corner, Great

:14:55.:15:11.

Britain's Joe Joyce. Is through to the gold-medal bout. Terrific! Over

:15:12.:15:20.

the reigning two-time World Championship silver-medallist Ivan

:15:21.:15:24.

Dychko. He started slowly, he had trouble with the movements in the

:15:25.:15:27.

opening round but he would not be denied. He continued to target the

:15:28.:15:32.

body and he is through to contest Olympic gold in the superheavyweight

:15:33.:15:32.

division. (CHEERING AND

:15:33.:15:39.

APPLAUSE). He will square off against his

:15:40.:15:55.

familiar rival Tony Yoka of France. Jo warmed up in the first round, it

:15:56.:16:46.

is a mental game, boxing, he figured him out, second round he closed down

:16:47.:16:50.

the gap, worked into the body. That takes your breath away. As you work

:16:51.:16:55.

into the body, Dychko starts slowing down. He cannot throw the jab like

:16:56.:17:00.

he was in the first round, and so to secure the fight, he did what he has

:17:01.:17:04.

done in the second round, throws the distance, put more pressure, and

:17:05.:17:08.

Dychko will soon fade, and that is what he has done, and I really happy

:17:09.:17:13.

with that. And you are in Olympic final. One step closer to gold.

:17:14.:17:18.

Don't worry about gold, just keep on winning. Keep it simple, yeah. I am

:17:19.:17:25.

happy for him, I have seen Joe from grassroots come up, and now he is

:17:26.:17:34.

hearing Rio, he is doing Capoiera in the ring. Staying hungry, staying

:17:35.:17:43.

humble. And Joe's gold-medal match will be against Tony Yoka of France,

:17:44.:17:54.

he beat the Croatian boxer to win his place. Look about for a shot.

:17:55.:18:00.

And the final will be at 715 on Sunday evening. I saw a statistic on

:18:01.:18:07.

Twitter not too long ago that said after the women in the hockey,

:18:08.:18:11.

Britain has now won gold medals in 14 different sports at this

:18:12.:18:15.

Olympics. No other country has managed more than ten. I have no

:18:16.:18:22.

idea whether that is right, but a -- I saw that. We have had so many

:18:23.:18:27.

great gold-medal moments, and all week we have been saying, don't be

:18:28.:18:32.

surprised by Team GB, they have been absolutely phenomenal. They'd did

:18:33.:18:37.

well in London, and what they have done is incredible. Unbeaten. Thank

:18:38.:18:43.

you very much. We have a lot of live sport right across the limp against

:18:44.:18:45.

this evening, we will have some wrestling and some boxing later,

:18:46.:18:50.

don't go anywhere, last we had Jade Jones winning a gold medal, and it

:18:51.:18:56.

is all eyes on the track once again, and Usain Bolt. That is our plan,

:18:57.:19:01.

and I love it when the plan comes together.

:19:02.:19:54.

(LAUGHS). Phil Jones has just seen it. That is his bashful face. You

:19:55.:20:12.

see a lot of people only seeing Phil Jones' hand. He has a gorgeous face.

:20:13.:20:20.

He is definitely, definitely a key member of the 18. Welcome to the

:20:21.:20:25.

athletics come and we have a great night in store this evening. Of

:20:26.:20:29.

course it is all about the relays, it is about distant in the 500

:20:30.:20:33.

metres, it is about the hammer and the pole vault, and as Michael

:20:34.:20:36.

Johnson would say, it is about getting the bat on around. But on.

:20:37.:20:52.

-- baton. And that is what his teammates have to do for him

:20:53.:20:56.

tonight. This will be fun. Athletes love the relays. It is not as much

:20:57.:21:02.

pressure, you get a chance in the individual sport as an individual

:21:03.:21:04.

athlete to work together as a team, it will be a lot of fun. What we

:21:05.:21:07.

have seen over the years is the Great Britain team, the USA team,

:21:08.:21:14.

not getting the baton around. Running out of the zone, dropping

:21:15.:21:18.

it, all sorts of things. It is difficult. It is fun to watch a and

:21:19.:21:22.

I would really like to see them all get around, and have a competitive

:21:23.:21:30.

race down the home stretch and give them a run for their money tonight.

:21:31.:21:35.

The British relay squad have been really strong in the last couple of

:21:36.:21:39.

years, they set a new personal best at the anniversary games, they look

:21:40.:21:43.

very good in qualifying. I have, and it is important to them, they are so

:21:44.:21:48.

tight as a unit come and they really work well together, tonight is the

:21:49.:21:53.

time when they can really come of age, because I believe they can get

:21:54.:21:57.

a medal, and they ought to get a medal, providing they take a bit of

:21:58.:22:02.

a risk, that is what they need to do tonight at two secure a medal. When

:22:03.:22:08.

I say personal-best I mean national record, and the four ladies are... I

:22:09.:22:25.

think they know each other very well, that is the most important

:22:26.:22:32.

thing. They have a sense of comfort with each other. That ill that team

:22:33.:22:38.

spirit which is necessary for them. The other thing you'll have to out

:22:39.:22:41.

for is Germany, Germany works together as a team, they are very

:22:42.:22:46.

well drilled, and they will have a problem. It will be tight but it is

:22:47.:22:51.

exciting. For the men they did not have the fastest qualification, they

:22:52.:22:55.

have lain one which is where the US women are, because of a fandango

:22:56.:22:58.

that went on with their qualifications. But the men are...

:22:59.:23:12.

You never know what decisions are made by coach in terms of those

:23:13.:23:15.

personnel. What will happen is that the coaches will make those

:23:16.:23:19.

decisions based on things that have happened earlier in the year, things

:23:20.:23:22.

they have seen in the camps. But what has taken place here in these

:23:23.:23:27.

championships, who knows why the coach made those decisions. That

:23:28.:23:33.

team always worries me, they always does seem a little bit young and not

:23:34.:23:39.

very mature, and just not that cohesive. It always seem like they

:23:40.:23:43.

are a little bit rattled, and that is what happens, that is when you

:23:44.:23:48.

drop the baton, when you have people who are a little bit rattled and not

:23:49.:23:54.

so cohesive, and when I look at the women's team, I see a little bit

:23:55.:24:00.

more settled, comfort, like you say, a little more confident. In the heat

:24:01.:24:04.

of battle, this is no doubt the heat of battle. There is lots of activity

:24:05.:24:10.

going on around you, and just in raw terms, it is one person running in

:24:11.:24:14.

as fast as they possibly can and another person running out as fast

:24:15.:24:18.

as they can, the person in front cannot see the person in the back,

:24:19.:24:23.

and you are trying to exchange the baton. At full speed. That is very

:24:24.:24:26.

difficult to do, and while there is a much going on around you, and

:24:27.:24:30.

within a certain zone. That is very difficult to do. Typically what

:24:31.:24:34.

happens is when teams drop the baton, it is not because they do

:24:35.:24:38.

not... It is because they do not get the balance right and have no plan

:24:39.:24:42.

B. They plan for perfect handouts which is round, it rarely happens

:24:43.:24:47.

the first time. Teams in practice and off when it goes wrong, what we

:24:48.:24:52.

next. You think there has to be trust, there has to be trust. That

:24:53.:25:00.

is why CJ has been left out of the team. I don't think he ran a good

:25:01.:25:05.

final leg. I have seen him run better, and he had that incident

:25:06.:25:09.

last year with himself and James Ellington on the third leg. That

:25:10.:25:14.

might be summing to do with it. There are some people that coaches

:25:15.:25:21.

and athletes just go, God, I don't want that person on the relay team.

:25:22.:25:24.

Just because they are not good relay runners. They do not perform well

:25:25.:25:28.

under that sort of pressure. They may perform brilliantly as an

:25:29.:25:33.

individual, but when they have to work with and exchange the baton,

:25:34.:25:38.

some people are not capable of doing that, and coaches will decide to

:25:39.:25:41.

leave that person for that reason. And there is Usain Bolt Houli part

:25:42.:25:51.

of the Jamaican four x 100 team, he will bring the baton home for them.

:25:52.:25:59.

Andre De Grasse, the gold-medallist,... Joy for the

:26:00.:26:07.

Frenchman, at a guinea when he found out and looked up at the screen and

:26:08.:26:12.

saw that he was just... You cannot even begin to imagine what that

:26:13.:26:17.

feels like, I am sure he will pick himself up and be in that relay

:26:18.:26:24.

squad tonight. Usain Bolt, he gets used to this, walking out to a medal

:26:25.:26:27.

ceremony. Athletes are not always have to compete on the same night as

:26:28.:26:32.

a medal ceremony, do they? Sometimes you do, they make the schedule for

:26:33.:26:37.

the running event first, and then they figure out where are we going

:26:38.:26:40.

to plug in another medal ceremony, so that they maximise people like

:26:41.:26:46.

Usain Bolt, who get here early, so you can see him, they are so

:26:47.:26:52.

strategic in how they do that. He will be fine in the relay. One thing

:26:53.:26:58.

that he might have looked at this is having to be their weight earlier

:26:59.:27:01.

than he wants to because he has two go to the medal ceremony. He is here

:27:02.:27:06.

at the track to run in the relay anyway, so you may as well... If he

:27:07.:27:12.

has sometime on his hands he can come up here and us company. It will

:27:13.:27:26.

be an interesting relay. We will cut more about the relay, although there

:27:27.:27:36.

is the 4x4 100 as well. -- 400. He seems to be absorbing it, doesn't

:27:37.:27:43.

he. The last time that we are told he will contest the 200 metres in a

:27:44.:27:49.

major championships. Sir Philip Craven presenting the medal, he will

:27:50.:27:54.

be getting himself and all of his team ready for the Paralympic games

:27:55.:28:00.

to follow year in Rio, -- to follow here. LeMaitre, I am sure there are

:28:01.:28:09.

a lot of European spin fans who will be quite pleased on the half of

:28:10.:28:16.

LeMaitre. A nice man, returning to form just at the right time. When

:28:17.:28:26.

Usain Bolt does leave the stage, this is one of the contenders to

:28:27.:28:33.

take over his mental at this distance, Andre DeGrasse, showed in

:28:34.:28:39.

the semifinals perhaps what real potential he has, not so much in the

:28:40.:28:42.

final, just outside 20 seconds. A silver medal was probably the thing

:28:43.:28:49.

he was aiming for, he talked about giving Usain Bolt a run for his

:28:50.:28:52.

money but it was never really likely. The Canadian 21-year-old

:28:53.:29:00.

performing very well indeed. He has won bronze medal so far in the 100

:29:01.:29:08.

as well, and a silver in the 200. So, the eighth time, Mr Usain Bolt

:29:09.:29:21.

steps onto the top of the rostrum. Gold in the 200 metres to the third

:29:22.:29:24.

time. Huge, huge reception to him here at

:29:25.:29:42.

the stadium, it is not full here tonight, but they are witnessing an

:29:43.:29:50.

historic moment. I am just wondering whether there is a little whimsical

:29:51.:29:58.

look on the face of Usain Bolt, we have never seen him too emotional on

:29:59.:30:02.

the rostrum, but I just wonder whether tonight you might see it.

:30:03.:30:08.

Passport is about gold medals but it is also about statistics. In all of

:30:09.:31:12.

his winning 200 metre times in World Championships and prolific games,

:31:13.:31:20.

his fastest time was 19.4 zero. Last night was his slowest ever winning

:31:21.:31:22.

time, 19.70 eight. -- 19.40. Lets remember how he got to a great

:31:23.:31:47.

age. -- --8. COMMENTATOR: A new world record! Away they go, Usain

:31:48.:31:56.

Bolt already going past. Blasting around. Gold for Usain Bolt! A new

:31:57.:32:08.

world record! I do not believe it. Usain Bolt has it in his hand safely

:32:09.:32:13.

and is the bend. It is Jamaica. One more chaste ago. It's a new world

:32:14.:32:16.

record! Three gold medals! Bolt is getting into his stride. It

:32:17.:32:34.

is Usain Bolt. He is pulling away. He is going to win the gold!

:32:35.:32:41.

It is a clean start... Walt is out of the blocks really well. He is

:32:42.:32:50.

already storming around the bend. It is a three metre lead. Bolt is going

:32:51.:32:51.

to do it again! Here he goes. A new world record! He smashes it to

:32:52.:33:03.

pieces. Gatlin leaving it at the moment but

:33:04.:33:15.

here is Usain Bolt and he is go to take it! He takes it! What more does

:33:16.:33:22.

he have for us? He gets away well. Already away from America. It is

:33:23.:33:30.

Usain Bolt on his own. As he has been throughout his career. Usain

:33:31.:33:37.

Bolt running away from everybody! 19.7. It is his gold, his eighth

:33:38.:33:42.

gold. Number one! There we go. The eight gold medals.

:33:43.:33:59.

It will be so weird to see Tokyo 2020 and see a different name. I

:34:00.:34:04.

have kids Inc in that he is the only one that can wind sprints. They know

:34:05.:34:09.

that there are other people capable of taking gold. --I have kids and

:34:10.:34:21.

they think. He has just all the night and brought people from around

:34:22.:34:28.

the ward solely to watch him. -- around the world. It wasn't his

:34:29.:34:36.

quickest last night. He said afterwards that he didn't feel as

:34:37.:34:42.

good down the home stretch. It didn't look as good but it was

:34:43.:34:46.

enough to get the job done. It was all that Usain Bolt would have been

:34:47.:34:49.

worried about. He wanted to put pressure on. He probably didn't

:34:50.:34:55.

expect that there would be another competitor. He just wanted to put

:34:56.:35:04.

pressure on these guys and did that beautifully. It was just enough to

:35:05.:35:14.

be this. I looked at him at this. And. He lay buried a little bit. It

:35:15.:35:19.

was earlier than when IM used to seeing him struggle. -- labouring. A

:35:20.:35:29.

great night for Usain Bolt to win his third title as an Olympic 200

:35:30.:35:36.

metre champion. I know that is something he certainly wanted. To

:35:37.:35:42.

think is a start that was so electric comedy think it had an

:35:43.:35:53.

effect? You are not really affected by anyone else's start. I think Sean

:35:54.:35:57.

always knew that. We talk about Usain Bolt at start. The drive pace

:35:58.:36:08.

is good. The drive pace in 200 metres is more important than the

:36:09.:36:11.

start. You can get a fantastic reaction to the gun but if you can't

:36:12.:36:16.

transition back into a drive pace, to propel you forward, when you are

:36:17.:36:20.

at the vertical lean, it doesn't matter. We are obsessed with the

:36:21.:36:25.

reaction time but if you can't transfer that into power, it doesn't

:36:26.:36:32.

happen. Usain Bolt is very good at transferring that power back into

:36:33.:36:35.

the track, propelling himself forward. If we look at the rest of

:36:36.:36:40.

the race which was actually quite tight, you take Usain Bolt out, had

:36:41.:36:45.

the race being run without Usain Bolt it would have panned out

:36:46.:36:48.

differently. Is there a feeling that he is there so there is a second

:36:49.:36:53.

race going on behind? I think the race would have panned out the same

:36:54.:36:56.

way that what is lost is that because Usain Bolt is so amazing and

:36:57.:37:01.

he won the race, what was lost, not on me, I was always anticipating

:37:02.:37:05.

this was going to be a fantastic race behind Usain Bolt and it was.

:37:06.:37:16.

Think about how close it was. It was a fantastic race to see, those guys

:37:17.:37:21.

knew it was going to be tight. Athletes know what they have in

:37:22.:37:25.

store going into the final based on what happened in the second final. I

:37:26.:37:29.

believe that almost all of them took Usain Bolt out of the race. That's

:37:30.:37:33.

why John Merrick wasn't concerned or affected by the start because they

:37:34.:37:36.

knew the competition was going to be for the silver and bronze. Let's

:37:37.:38:03.

look at Adam Gemili. That is perfect execution. I knew he wasn't happy

:38:04.:38:10.

with it. This is the point he wasn't pleased with. I'd knew he tightened

:38:11.:38:15.

up at the end. The more I look at Adam, he runs a little bit tight in

:38:16.:38:19.

his upper body and that is something he is going to have two work on. He

:38:20.:38:23.

hunches over with his shoulders, he is always that way. That is not the

:38:24.:38:28.

best technique when it comes to the end of the 200 metres so he is going

:38:29.:38:32.

to have to work on that in terms of changing his technique in the upper

:38:33.:38:36.

body and the way that he runs, the way that he strides. That is just

:38:37.:38:41.

the way he runs but it has a negative effect on the end of the

:38:42.:38:46.

race. Does it affect the 200 more than the 100? Absolutely. By the

:38:47.:38:52.

time it affects you in the 100, the race is over. The 200, you are

:38:53.:38:55.

starting to fatigue and the more you are tight ups Des -- the more you

:38:56.:39:04.

are tight at the top, you need more speed. You need to swing to go

:39:05.:39:07.

faster and you get more power but when you are restricted, you are

:39:08.:39:10.

hunched over, you restrict the motion. You aren't able to keep

:39:11.:39:20.

their stride lean as much as you want. It shortened more because of

:39:21.:39:27.

fatigue and you are not able to keep it open. I am going to pose a

:39:28.:39:35.

question. Adam is going to be doing the last leg so that tightness you

:39:36.:39:40.

mentioned, do you think that will have an effect because there is so

:39:41.:39:45.

much tension around him? No. 100 metres, it won't really bother him.

:39:46.:39:51.

It's almost like a double-edged sword. Over the 100 metres, it helps

:39:52.:40:01.

him because he is so wrote Artic, -- robotic. Once you get beyond 100

:40:02.:40:07.

metres, it starts to become a problem. I don't think it will will

:40:08.:40:14.

bother him. Here is another question and you can all answer this. Are we

:40:15.:40:19.

going to see those seven plus another one in seven or are we going

:40:20.:40:24.

to see a whole new rash of sprinters coming through? It is about De

:40:25.:40:41.

Grasse. It is important we start opening our minds about who is going

:40:42.:40:46.

to fill that void. It's going to be difficult but the future of

:40:47.:40:54.

sprinting will go on. If we divide up the next lot, we are going to

:40:55.:40:57.

have an exciting run of world champions. That is the likely

:40:58.:41:14.

scenario going forward. I see the championships trading in and out.

:41:15.:41:20.

Somebody will win, maybe De Grasse, maybe someone else. It will probably

:41:21.:41:37.

be a different one. De Grasse has the edge because he is winning

:41:38.:41:41.

back-to-back championship medals and metal experience has got to play

:41:42.:41:46.

hugely when it goes into major championships and he is still young.

:41:47.:41:53.

-- medal. It is not always gold or silver. Gatlin probably will not

:41:54.:42:02.

retire. You don't think so? Why would he? Remember, he won his

:42:03.:42:07.

fastest time last you. -- he ran. Why would he retire when he is

:42:08.:42:11.

looking at this going Usain Bolt is out of it? "I Can still stay in

:42:12.:42:19.

this." He hasn't had any injuries. He has milage on his body. If you

:42:20.:42:29.

are the world champion silver-medallist last year, you are

:42:30.:42:32.

the Olympics were medallist this year and only silver because of one

:42:33.:42:38.

person who is Usain Bolt, why not continue? Who can possibly begin to

:42:39.:42:50.

predict it. Let's get down onto the track. We are going to be talked

:42:51.:43:07.

through the four x 400 metre relay. On this penultimate evening, we only

:43:08.:43:12.

have the marathon on. In the stadium. Let's hope we negotiate

:43:13.:43:20.

through no problem. The women's polevault final as well. Arguably

:43:21.:43:29.

the most controversial event of these games. The Russian has been

:43:30.:43:37.

banned, the world champion. Yelena. That is exactly how she wanted to

:43:38.:43:57.

start. She is a great major championship competitor. Sixth years

:43:58.:44:03.

ago in London. The perfect start. Just wanted to settle her nerves. It

:44:04.:44:06.

is an Olympic final medal on offer. Down to the other end, the women are

:44:07.:44:19.

just about to start. We have steadily in front, USA, Romania,

:44:20.:44:21.

Netherlands, Brazil and Ukraine. First of three from the two heats

:44:22.:44:39.

and the two fastest losers through to the final.

:44:40.:44:46.

The couple were brought in as reserves. They are the top eight

:44:47.:44:52.

from Beijing last year. The eight fastest other teams.

:44:53.:45:00.

The best of 16 in the world theoretically here.

:45:01.:45:06.

If you have never watched a four x 400 before, it takes three bands.

:45:07.:45:14.

That's why there is a bigger stagger. It is not until the second

:45:15.:45:20.

leg that they break for the inside. United States. Natasha Hastings,

:45:21.:45:31.

maybe Spencer to come in. Ukraine looking strong as well in lane

:45:32.:45:34.

eight. The ankle turning a little bit.

:45:35.:45:38.

It is good to see a initially with the long, long stagger, how it will

:45:39.:45:45.

play out. A good start by Ukraine and so to buy the Netherlands. --

:45:46.:45:52.

by. Are good, strong start to the second

:45:53.:46:02.

leg from Australia from Annelise Ruby. We are so used to seeing this.

:46:03.:46:08.

A big lead for United States at the moment. Are not a good start for the

:46:09.:46:13.

French team who we thought would be a danger. They had a poor first leg.

:46:14.:46:25.

Fading in the dark blue, a long way back at the moment. United States in

:46:26.:46:28.

the lead, going well. Just wanting to make sure they get that buttoned

:46:29.:46:35.

safely now. The Polish quartet has another chance as well. They have

:46:36.:46:44.

their weaker runner with the bat on at the moment.

:46:45.:46:53.

Someone who has run low 50s, McCorory. What a race developing

:46:54.:47:07.

behind her for the other qualifying players. It is Ukraine, Holland,

:47:08.:47:15.

Australia and the Netherlands, now they wait, the last change here.

:47:16.:47:21.

McCorory will give it to Phyllis Francis. Plenty of experience there.

:47:22.:47:32.

The United States clear. A real scrap on here for second and third.

:47:33.:47:37.

France desperately trying to get close, this would be a bit of a

:47:38.:47:41.

surprise if this French 4x4 100 Quartet do not qualify. -- 400. They

:47:42.:47:50.

are currently in sixth. Moving into fourth, fifth place now. The United

:47:51.:48:00.

States and then look at that Lake Claire from, Holland and Australia,

:48:01.:48:06.

surely she has got nothing left. -- Poland. United States are going to

:48:07.:48:13.

win this, Ukraine and then it will be Poland taking the third spot,

:48:14.:48:20.

Australia and then France. That was only around a three point would be

:48:21.:48:26.

which I am really surprised in, they had a terrible start, they had a

:48:27.:48:32.

back loaded team with two did names, but they got off to a poor start,

:48:33.:48:38.

and it is a risk you take in the rounds, so the United States, you

:48:39.:48:44.

would think would be through safely. We just want to have a little look

:48:45.:48:46.

at the first change. I mean, you have to start wondering

:48:47.:49:03.

over there, you would think, why has nobody else done this. That was a

:49:04.:49:11.

handicap start there. You would be very disappointed by France, Ukraine

:49:12.:49:22.

I thought were very strong, they had Zemlyak in the anchor leg. United

:49:23.:49:27.

States, we know they are clear favourites for the gold medal, I am

:49:28.:49:30.

not sure anyone can touch them, but the Jamaicans will give them a much

:49:31.:49:33.

better run for their money than anyone here. But France, this was

:49:34.:49:38.

the strongest Quartet, this was a four who took silver at the European

:49:39.:49:43.

championship, it is that thing of back loading, you are not in

:49:44.:49:47.

position. It will always be difficult to lift yourselves. That

:49:48.:49:52.

is a fairly quick time for the French. Suddenly Poland are in

:49:53.:49:58.

amongst it, a good performance from them, so the United States, Ukraine

:49:59.:50:02.

and Poland, all of those three through, Australia and France have

:50:03.:50:12.

to watch the second semi-final. The American Okolo Morris -- Sandi

:50:13.:50:23.

Morris. The world leader. The jump of 4.90 three. A contender for the

:50:24.:50:29.

title here. Perfect conditions. -- four. 93.

:50:30.:50:34.

The world recordholder and announced her retirement in the last four

:50:35.:50:49.

hours. Sandy Morris, -- Sandi Morris, good start. Silver than,

:50:50.:51:02.

Yarislay Silva of Cuba. A short approach, but an easy clearance.

:51:03.:51:09.

Silva looking good. It is going to be a tight competition is, but we

:51:10.:51:14.

have a Brit involved in Holly Bradshaw, looking good. Silva very

:51:15.:51:18.

good when it matters, a good pressure jumper, and that is going

:51:19.:51:23.

to be something she may need to draw on. Silva, good start.

:51:24.:51:34.

We are well under way on the track, with those relays starting already,

:51:35.:51:49.

the 4x400. The men's hammer is under way, the women's 5000 metres goes at

:51:50.:52:05.

148, at 215 it is the four x 100 metre relays, we will carefully help

:52:06.:52:12.

you navigate your evening through that, and at 2:35am it is the men's

:52:13.:52:20.

four x 100 metre relay. A possible ninth gold for Usain Bolt. Let's get

:52:21.:52:27.

back down to the track, you can see their Emily Diamond, it is the start

:52:28.:52:31.

of the next heat for the women's four x 400 metre relay. When you saw

:52:32.:52:38.

the Great Britain Quartet, in lane two, Jamaica are very strong, they

:52:39.:52:48.

made the final. Germany, Bahamas, it Cuba, Canada as well. India and

:52:49.:52:54.

Italy flanking Great Britain. It is Emily Diamond, Silva, Kelly Massey

:52:55.:53:13.

and Ohuruogu. Emily Diamond leading off Great

:53:14.:53:22.

it is Emily Diamond, Onuora, Kelly Massey and Christine Ohuruogu. She

:53:23.:53:34.

is running very strongly, Emily Diamond. This elongated stager.

:53:35.:53:38.

Christine Day taking to make out. The other world champions, and

:53:39.:53:44.

perhaps a little premature in saying that no one can touch the United

:53:45.:53:46.

States. Because Jamaica certainly can. A good run at the moment as

:53:47.:53:53.

well from the Canadians out there in lane eight, Caroline Miller. --

:53:54.:54:06.

Caroline Muir. There are four teams in a chance here, with the Bahamas,

:54:07.:54:13.

Italy, and Canada to get amongst it. This is a huge opportunity for

:54:14.:54:21.

Onuora, overlooked for individual selection, and not only with a bit

:54:22.:54:24.

of a point to prove, but she wants to make sure that she has a good

:54:25.:54:28.

strongly here, if Britain at have a chance. Kelly Massey next and then

:54:29.:54:36.

Christine Ohuruogu. Canada strong, Bahamas starting to come here, the

:54:37.:54:39.

Germans are going well at the moment and Italy will still be a danger,

:54:40.:54:51.

because they have Ohuruogu on the last leg. It has been a good leg by

:54:52.:55:02.

a Onuora, not too far behind the Jamaicans, Canada, but certainly the

:55:03.:55:11.

Canada, just beginning to move past Kelly Massey at the moment, but they

:55:12.:55:16.

need to panic in the relays. You can be split and put into quick as Bert

:55:17.:55:22.

come as we have seen in the past. Kelly Massey, ran well in Amsterdam,

:55:23.:55:29.

that is why she was putting the team. She did not run in the final

:55:30.:55:33.

in Amsterdam, but she may be asked here, because she has won a storming

:55:34.:55:38.

leg. Kelly Massey, along Wade back the Italians, -- a long way back,

:55:39.:55:48.

through three on the last leg. Also on some chaos at the changeover,

:55:49.:55:54.

something went amiss in the infield. Christine Ohuruogu is able to fix

:55:55.:56:00.

her stare at on the Jamaican runner, Williams Mills,, it is a good run by

:56:01.:56:15.

Canada, said Watson is -- Sage Watson. She is taking herself in

:56:16.:56:21.

behind Ohuruogu. Ohuruogu looks panic, but she is running well.

:56:22.:56:26.

Ohuruogu will surely have enough to respond and hold off Watson, Jamaica

:56:27.:56:30.

able to cross the line well in front in first place, but Ohuruogu ringing

:56:31.:56:34.

Great Britain Northern Ireland home for Great Britain, and then Canada

:56:35.:56:41.

and then Italy. Front were in the fastest losers position from the

:56:42.:56:44.

first heat, and I think they might... They might be gone.

:56:45.:56:49.

Christine Ohuruogu has wrought Great Britain and Northern Ireland home,

:56:50.:56:54.

they are safely through to the final, a hug between the teammates

:56:55.:56:59.

there are job done. A long way behind Jamaica, as the others were

:57:00.:57:03.

behind the United States in the first heat, but a tidy and a run.

:57:04.:57:10.

That is going to mean that Franz Iraq, because the Italians, Grenot

:57:11.:57:19.

won a great leg for them -- ran a great leg for them. A cracking leg

:57:20.:57:29.

for Christine Ohuruogu. -- for Anyika Onuora. It was a real is that

:57:30.:57:34.

the change for the Canadians, a real worry for them. -- scrappy change

:57:35.:57:38.

for the Canadians. You could not see it on that shot, at the Canadians

:57:39.:57:42.

were really hampered by the Jamaicans, that gave Christine a

:57:43.:57:50.

little bit of leeway, Grenot was miles back, that is a season is best

:57:51.:57:57.

for the Quartet, but I think they will have to find a little bit more

:57:58.:58:00.

if they are going to get amongst the medals here. Christine Ohuruogu

:58:01.:58:06.

brings them home, Great Britain were the fourth fastest qualifying time

:58:07.:58:09.

overall in that heat, taking second behind Jamaica, with Canada going

:58:10.:58:15.

through, Italy the fastest loser qualifier there. Holly Bradshaw,

:58:16.:58:21.

that was so close to staying on. She looked as though she got over that,

:58:22.:58:24.

I would like to see this in slow motion. It is a first-time failure

:58:25.:58:31.

for Bradshaw at this new height. We have just seen the Greek athlete to

:58:32.:58:40.

clear, have a look at this, she gives it the rattle and is

:58:41.:58:43.

dislodged. Unfortunately for Bradshaw, two more attempts to stay

:58:44.:58:51.

involved in this polevault final. Let's just tidy this 4x400. They did

:58:52.:59:05.

not make it through without Muir, they may have been, France and there

:59:06.:59:12.

either. Not through is a fastest loser, that goes to Italy and

:59:13.:59:15.

Australia, so the United States and the maker, -- and Jamaica. They are

:59:16.:59:24.

through, Great Britain, that is the important thing.

:59:25.:59:30.

Last night we saw one of the true greats in athletics, Ashton Eaton,

:59:31.:59:38.

the decathlete, clinch his second gold medal in the decathlon,

:59:39.:59:46.

matching defeat of Daley Thompson in 1984. This is the climax of the 1500

:59:47.:59:47.

metres. You have to hand it to this guy. He

:59:48.:00:12.

is stretching away again, trying to muster some kind of finish. He is

:00:13.:00:22.

making Ashton Eaton work hard here. The world recordholder. No records

:00:23.:00:26.

here today, just making sure of the gold medal. We are going to see a

:00:27.:00:30.

sprint finish and the three medallists already trying to move

:00:31.:00:39.

towards winning this 1500 perhaps moving a little bit closer. Ashton

:00:40.:00:46.

Eaton going around the bend, Warner with him. These are our three

:00:47.:00:54.

medallists in what has been a very, very high standard decathlon. Ashton

:00:55.:01:03.

Eaton, the greatest there has ever been, the greatest all round

:01:04.:01:09.

athlete. Wonderful, wonderful champion. He has won the Olympic

:01:10.:01:15.

champion, Ashton Eaton the gold-medallist. That was a joy to

:01:16.:01:28.

watch because it got competitive in the end. He had to work for it. A

:01:29.:01:35.

great champion, he doesn't get enough credit. Back home he is a

:01:36.:01:39.

great huge star. Nikkei has done a great job. -- Nike. He is happy to

:01:40.:01:49.

work his craft in the background, he is a really great student of

:01:50.:01:54.

athletics and the decathlon. He worked alongside his coach on all of

:01:55.:02:01.

the technical aspects of each event. Interesting that you say it is a big

:02:02.:02:08.

star at home. Would people know that who he is? Would he go on chat

:02:09.:02:13.

shows? Slow down a little bit. I should have said relatively

:02:14.:02:19.

speaking, he is a big star at home. Obviously, he would not compete with

:02:20.:02:24.

the NBA players or NFL players. In terms of the Olympics though.

:02:25.:02:30.

Whatever happens in the Olympic cycle, advertisers start to pick who

:02:31.:02:33.

the advertisers are that they want to represent them. It was Allyson

:02:34.:02:39.

Felix this year. He was big. We saw him an different ads. He is one of

:02:40.:02:48.

the big stars of the entire Olympic team. Is it possible to compare he

:02:49.:03:10.

and daily? -- Daley. Ashton is just a fantastic athlete, it's a

:03:11.:03:14.

different era. It's a shame he doesn't quite get the recognition he

:03:15.:03:18.

deserves. Maybe he would choose to do a few more event on the circuit,

:03:19.:03:23.

that would build his profile more. I want to give a quick nod to Kevin

:03:24.:03:38.

Mayer, the Frenchman who won a medal. It was such a huge, huge

:03:39.:03:43.

event, the decathlon. Over the last few years, it has waned with the

:03:44.:03:49.

likes of old being around. -- Usain Bolt. For the UK, we haven't had

:03:50.:03:56.

many body for the last few years have been out there challenging.

:03:57.:04:03.

Ashley Bryant would have qualified here. He had an unfortunate miss hap

:04:04.:04:11.

in his polevault. -- mishap. It is difficult to compete without your

:04:12.:04:16.

proper poll. He was chasing the qualification and didn't make it.

:04:17.:04:24.

Let's hear from Ashton Eaton. Congratulations on a wonderful

:04:25.:04:28.

performance. The only man after our own daily Thompson to retain an

:04:29.:04:32.

Olympic decathlon title. Our specialist that? Very special. You

:04:33.:04:37.

know what? One day I am going to have to see Daley Thompson. Thanks

:04:38.:04:47.

for giving me something to chase, I will say. I thinker had a lot of

:04:48.:04:56.

defining moments. Right from the shotput, I was getting after it, the

:04:57.:05:01.

discus, I was getting out it. The throws are what kept me on this. For

:05:02.:05:06.

me, my modus operandi is running, I don't have less of past speed. --

:05:07.:05:13.

laser fast. You are 28, history has been made. Do you think you will be

:05:14.:05:20.

three in a row? Leigh ask Daley Thompson if you think I should.

:05:21.:05:26.

-- ask a daily Thompson. Congratulations. To my fans, you're

:05:27.:05:39.

the reason I do this, thank you. Get in touch with us, Daley, thanks. But

:05:40.:05:52.

to mind ourselves how great you are. COMMENTATOR: All eight metres for

:05:53.:05:56.

Daley Thompson, tremendous! That is a very fine shotput. Always clear!

:05:57.:06:05.

Thompson is going well. Thompson is there!

:06:06.:06:09.

Yes! He is very, very confident at the moment. A big throw! At

:06:10.:06:23.

beautiful throw. Just under 65 metres. The crowd are already

:06:24.:06:29.

applauding the greatest all-round athlete in the world, Thompson, the

:06:30.:06:37.

Olympic champion! It's a better one, it's a better one, it is a better

:06:38.:06:43.

one, it's a better one! Is dancing in the circle. The IronMan comes

:06:44.:06:47.

through. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. The master is

:06:48.:07:01.

clear! 00 Olympic champion. -- double Olympic champion.

:07:02.:07:07.

I think Ashton needs to put on that moustache. He is too clean cut. I

:07:08.:07:15.

think Daley will tell him to continue. Injuries marred his career

:07:16.:07:20.

but he was determined to go for number three. I was just watching

:07:21.:07:26.

daily, Usain Bolt is the new Daley Thompson. That is what made Daley,

:07:27.:07:33.

he had a charisma and confidence and he was an entertainer. Usain Bolt is

:07:34.:07:42.

the new Daley Thompson. It gave permission for the next Daley

:07:43.:07:45.

Thompson and rarities. He will be running in another race a little bit

:07:46.:07:53.

later. Icho -- it shows you that athletes come in all shapes and

:07:54.:07:54.

sizes. Well done one and all. Emily, key to

:07:55.:08:10.

get into the race. Always that Eamonn first leg. Try get into a

:08:11.:08:20.

good position. -- get the lead in the first leg. We got the job done,

:08:21.:08:27.

we qualified tomorrow, have to bring it back tomorrow. You had to be

:08:28.:08:32.

chomping at the bit to be involved in the Olympics, you did a good job.

:08:33.:08:40.

I was watching the rest of the girls perform and yeah, I was waiting for

:08:41.:08:46.

my time. Great to step out in nearly the stadium. Loving the Olympic

:08:47.:08:56.

errors well. I try. -- loving the Olympic hair. And have a lot of

:08:57.:09:03.

experience with the relay. I could feel the Canadian on my shoulder but

:09:04.:09:10.

I wanted to keep the inside of the curve and crossover in second again

:09:11.:09:13.

with a goodly but these two girls got us. Christine, safely through to

:09:14.:09:18.

another final. You have been his semi- ties with the British team, a

:09:19.:09:24.

strong medal hope for you? We try not to get overexcited. We are going

:09:25.:09:29.

to go back, rest up and come back and fight for tomorrow. We wish you

:09:30.:09:33.

all well for the final and well done, good luck.

:09:34.:09:44.

Sandi Morris of the United States. Easy clearance for her.

:09:45.:09:55.

She is looking very competent, very capable. A comfortable height for

:09:56.:10:03.

her on paper, she is making it look easy. Morris, a perfect start to

:10:04.:10:08.

this polevault final. There is Holly Bradshaw. She is

:10:09.:10:21.

getting herself ready for her second attempt. Four metres 60. We have

:10:22.:10:28.

seen a cat Renee Stefanie Perri clear already.

:10:29.:10:41.

For athletes only clear on their first event. Yes! She is over, she

:10:42.:10:56.

has got it. That is a really good jump. -- Ekaterini Stefanidi. A

:10:57.:11:10.

quick look at how they line up for the men's four x 400 relay. Lumpier,

:11:11.:11:15.

Botswana, Japan, Jamaica, United dates. Poland and Trinidad Tobago.

:11:16.:11:21.

France on the outer side. -- United States. The Russian quartet.

:11:22.:11:31.

Botswana would have a much stronger but they are missing someone.

:11:32.:11:42.

McDonald who went well in the individual, running strong for

:11:43.:12:13.

Jamaica. This very, very powerful Trinidad Tobago quartet. Jonathan

:12:14.:12:16.

and Solomon running for them. Trinidad Tobago with America. A

:12:17.:12:24.

good run for Botswana but three or four contenders in here at the

:12:25.:12:31.

moment. It is going to be close. USA, Botswana, off to a good start.

:12:32.:12:37.

The junior champ who is not here would have made a big difference to

:12:38.:12:45.

them. These heats are not easy. Sometimes you look at it and think

:12:46.:12:48.

that you know who the top four or five teams are but this is

:12:49.:12:52.

difficult, USA have got others to bring in, as you said. Jamaica

:12:53.:12:58.

perhaps have got another one or two to bring in. They think this will be

:12:59.:13:08.

the best that Botswana has got. The French are trying to stay in touch.

:13:09.:13:17.

Botswana just being held off at the moment by the United States. Carl

:13:18.:13:21.

Clemens takes it on. Botswana might start to recede a

:13:22.:13:30.

little bit and Trinidad Tobago have very strong squad throughout.

:13:31.:13:42.

Another good leg for Botswana. Trinidad Tobago, Jamaica, these

:13:43.:13:45.

for just started to separate themselves. Only three go through

:13:46.:13:46.

automatically. It is a a real scrap on for fifth

:13:47.:13:51.

place. A good race so far. Botswana might

:13:52.:14:07.

be the ones to struggle here of the top three.

:14:08.:14:20.

Jamaica. The United States is out in front. A little bit disappointing in

:14:21.:14:29.

the individual but only a semifinalist. He is hanging on at

:14:30.:14:32.

the moment. He is making it look like hard work.

:14:33.:14:38.

These three will begin to move away now. Poland looking for a fastest

:14:39.:14:46.

loser position. Jamaica eventually take it.

:14:47.:14:54.

Trinidad Tobago comfortable enough in third place. That was a good

:14:55.:15:00.

race, a good run, America will certainly get stronger. I wonder if

:15:01.:15:06.

they will use Clement again. That was a good race, first and foremost.

:15:07.:15:12.

You're cracking race. You can see, the standard is listing here. We

:15:13.:15:17.

expected the USA and they have got plenty to bring in, plenty of

:15:18.:15:18.

options. Jamaica going well. They did enough to chase down the

:15:19.:15:37.

USA. Trinidad Tobago, their best team so they got through their best.

:15:38.:15:46.

Botswana, even without the junior champion, they held in fourth. You

:15:47.:15:52.

get under three minutes, the British team haven't got under three minutes

:15:53.:15:56.

this year, that means, that is much quicker than the Polish team ran at

:15:57.:16:01.

the championships. Top three go through and then the two fastest

:16:02.:16:05.

losers, Britain need to be really strong in this next semi. Anybody

:16:06.:16:11.

going through the low three minutes is a very, very good run. Botswana

:16:12.:16:17.

are missing a couple of very, very talented athletes. Sometimes they

:16:18.:16:21.

have had Nigel Amos in the past. Jamaica, United States and Trinidad

:16:22.:16:26.

Tobago. Those times for Botswana and Poland will stand them in very

:16:27.:16:28.

good stead. That is Lutalo Mohammed going for

:16:29.:17:17.

gold. The men's hammer final, it is Belarus, a previously convicted drug

:17:18.:17:26.

cheat, medals taken away from him, mixed feelings, certainly decide of

:17:27.:17:36.

the fence watching on. 40 years of age now. It is a throw of over 75.

:17:37.:18:04.

Ivan Tsikhan goes in the lead. Yarisley Silva, this is her second

:18:05.:18:07.

attempt for the world champion from last year. She made that look really

:18:08.:18:15.

easy. Very quick, short approach. Not one of the tallest pole

:18:16.:18:18.

vaulters, but very athletic, gymnastics background, Yarisley

:18:19.:18:25.

Silva, got it right the second time, and that foul may count against her,

:18:26.:18:28.

later in the competition. Great Britain have probably drawn

:18:29.:18:39.

the easier I think of the two heat, they should be able to get through

:18:40.:18:43.

with the Tapia, Nigel Lavigne will leave them, William second, Hudson

:18:44.:18:50.

Smith, then Martyn Rooney. Martyn Rooney ran like, Euro and what he

:18:51.:18:55.

said he ran like, -- you remember what he said he ran like, let's hope

:18:56.:19:01.

he does not run like that again. Williams ran a great leg, 44.8 leg,

:19:02.:19:09.

Trinidad, they have been disqualified. We are not directly

:19:10.:19:17.

why, it may be an infringement with that changeover. A very strong

:19:18.:19:25.

quartet disqualified. That would really enhance Great Britain's

:19:26.:19:33.

polish -- prospect of a medal. Botswana missing one of their better

:19:34.:19:37.

runners, Trinidad one of the big danger is perhaps, at the moment

:19:38.:19:41.

disqualified. That is confirmation of it. We have seen appeals be

:19:42.:19:47.

upheld, we have seen quite a lot of them being upheld, the jewellery of

:19:48.:19:51.

appeal -- jury of appeal have been very active at these championships.

:19:52.:19:56.

We are not entirely sure what that is for, but we will check for you.

:19:57.:19:59.

Great Britain just switch around of the auto, Nigel Lavigne, -- of the

:20:00.:20:13.

order. Delanno Williams is a really good run, Matthew Hudson Smith,

:20:14.:20:25.

there is well. American Republic, Bahamas, Cuba, Venezuela, India,

:20:26.:20:30.

Belgium and Rizal. -- Brazil. Things, I should never tempt fate

:20:31.:20:53.

should I. Things look good in this heat for Great Britain. Something

:20:54.:20:58.

around the three-minute mark just to be safe, top three in and around

:20:59.:21:03.

three minutes. Now that Trinidad have been disqualified from the

:21:04.:21:10.

first heat, the fastest loser spot has shifted one. So now fronts are

:21:11.:21:20.

sitting in a fastest loser spot of 3.8 two. 3.82. Brazil are in this by

:21:21.:21:27.

the way. Nigel Lavigne, so much experience, a

:21:28.:21:51.

good man to have on the leadoff leg. He will be hoping to keep it nice

:21:52.:21:57.

and solid. -- Nigel Levine. No theatrical here from the British

:21:58.:22:01.

team. Always hard in lane one with this the long stag, Venezuelan going

:22:02.:22:09.

well. And Brazil, the cheer to the rafters. Alonzo Russell also having

:22:10.:22:18.

a good leg, and it might be the Bahamas at this first leg. A good

:22:19.:22:22.

run by the Brazilian runner, and Nigel Levine picking up, he will be

:22:23.:22:28.

handing over to Delanno Williams, very much part of the relay squad

:22:29.:22:37.

now in Brazil, Rousseau takes it on, can be proud -- can the crowd at

:22:38.:22:42.

Brazil to a performance above their abilities. Alonzo Russell from the

:22:43.:22:52.

Bahamas in the front. Another good race developing here, Delanno

:22:53.:23:03.

Williams just latching onto the back of Jonathan Borlee. That is a good

:23:04.:23:18.

run from Delanno Williams. Just a bit of daylight between themselves

:23:19.:23:23.

and Brazil, only the top three will qualify by rights, and just give

:23:24.:23:27.

Martyn Rooney a good chance on the last leg, we know what he does on

:23:28.:23:32.

the last leg in the relay, normally so dependable. Stephen Gardner, the

:23:33.:23:40.

hugely talented Bahamian, just taking it easy at the moment. The --

:23:41.:23:46.

here he comes now. So much in the reserve there to give the Bahamas

:23:47.:23:53.

are lead, a good run by Dylan Borlee, the younger of the Borlee

:23:54.:23:58.

boys, and Great Britain will be in a good position going into the final

:23:59.:24:02.

leg. Just wanted to make sure he got the baton safely, Martyn Rooney

:24:03.:24:11.

should be fine here. Zilla chasing, -- Brazil are chasing. The Bahamas

:24:12.:24:19.

-- Newbould of the Bahamas might come under a bit of pressure. Kevin

:24:20.:24:27.

Borlee and Martyn Rooney know each other very well. Look at this,

:24:28.:24:32.

Martyn Rooney wants to make up to a really poor run individually, he

:24:33.:24:37.

looks fantastic there, Martyn Rooney coming home for Great Britain, the

:24:38.:24:41.

time we pretty good as well, under three minutes. That is better, much

:24:42.:24:50.

better. That men means that -- that means that they have put themselves

:24:51.:24:56.

in the middle zone. -- medal zone. These guys did great. Set up lovely,

:24:57.:25:03.

did them proud, and we know what he can do with a baton on the last leg.

:25:04.:25:11.

Nigel Levine with a very good 45.7, Williams 44 flat, that is another

:25:12.:25:15.

cracking leg from him, Hudson Smith solid 45.3, and Martyn Rooney, but

:25:16.:25:20.

went through bit of a saunter in 43 point eight. -- 43.8. We are talking

:25:21.:25:30.

about the relays, why can't he do that in... It is another subject,

:25:31.:25:34.

but goodness me. He is running great in the relay, that is all we carried

:25:35.:25:38.

out at the moment. Well under three minutes, and this has really shifted

:25:39.:25:43.

them now, they have a chance. Martyn Rooney, he has that sense of "I need

:25:44.:25:48.

to make amends for that performance in the individual. " He is a great

:25:49.:25:53.

relay runner. We saw in the European Championships when Matthew Hudson

:25:54.:25:57.

Smith was on the end -- anchor leg, Martyn Rooney likes feeling that he

:25:58.:26:02.

is the most experienced guy in the camp, he was saying to everyone at

:26:03.:26:07.

the end, you should be proud, he is the leader of the team, and he

:26:08.:26:14.

produces performances in the relay that he does not in individuals.

:26:15.:26:17.

That time there suddenly puts this men's four x 400 metre quartet into

:26:18.:26:22.

a great position. Especially with Trinidad Tobago being

:26:23.:26:26.

disqualified. That is a great time. He went straight to his team, that

:26:27.:26:30.

is a team event. And as a quartet they work so well there.

:26:31.:26:38.

That is a pretty QuickTime, 2.58.88, three seconds quicker than their run

:26:39.:26:47.

at the European Championships. Belgium will also be contenders, the

:26:48.:26:53.

Bahamas will go through and Cuba will go through as fastest losers,

:26:54.:27:02.

sadly not Brazil at the moment. We are getting towards the business and

:27:03.:27:08.

of this women's pole vaulting final, the bar is now at 4.7 zero.

:27:09.:27:16.

Stefanidi, first attempt, that was a really competent clearance. That has

:27:17.:27:20.

been really consistent in the diamond lead, -- diamond lead. Ever

:27:21.:27:30.

so consistent. Stefanidi. Clear at 4.70. All right then, Holly

:27:31.:27:39.

Bradshaw. She has knocked it off once, this new season 's best, one

:27:40.:27:45.

centimetre shy of her British record. Second attempt, 4.70. Yes!

:27:46.:27:56.

Holly Bradshaw goes clear, her coach looking on, looking rather calm it

:27:57.:28:01.

has to be said. Great stuff from the Brit. Only one athlete has gone

:28:02.:28:05.

clear of this height, and now it is two. One of them is a Brit, Holly

:28:06.:28:12.

Bradshaw. Seventh last year at the World Championships, she loves the

:28:13.:28:15.

big stage, going well. At the moment, this is how the

:28:16.:28:27.

qualifiers look. It is not quite official on our screens for the

:28:28.:28:29.

second heat, as you heard, Trinidad second heat, as you heard, Trinidad

:28:30.:28:33.

Tobago disqualified from the first round, so it is these eight.

:28:34.:28:37.

Jamaica, United States, Great Britain, and that time is

:28:38.:28:41.

significant, it gives them a chance. Eldon, Botswana, Poland, Bahamas and

:28:42.:28:44.

Cuba. They will contest the final tomorrow. -- Poland. -- Belgium.

:28:45.:28:52.

Through to the final, you must be thrilled as a team. We ran quite

:28:53.:28:57.

quick as well. It is quite tough when you're in lane one, so tried my

:28:58.:29:02.

best to set up for the others, to make it easier for the final. It was

:29:03.:29:06.

quite tough running in lane one. But hey, I did my best, hopefully, and

:29:07.:29:11.

it was good enough for us to make it through to the final, winning our

:29:12.:29:16.

heat, I am... I am ecstatic. I am quite happy. You did a fine job,

:29:17.:29:21.

trust me. And so do you, 44 seconds flat is what I heard from our

:29:22.:29:28.

statistician. That is tremendous. A take inspiration from my captain,

:29:29.:29:34.

Martyn Rooney, it has been good. I feel good, I just have to get to

:29:35.:29:39.

recovery and stick to it. And you have had a busy time of it, you came

:29:40.:29:45.

back, what was left, it seemed... I am dead. I just tried to get Martyn

:29:46.:29:52.

to a position where he could attack and do what he does best. That is

:29:53.:29:56.

all I could do really. You brought the team home so many times in

:29:57.:30:01.

style, including last year, 43.8 V you, -- to you. What more can you do

:30:02.:30:09.

now in the final? I want to celebrate this first, but I am so

:30:10.:30:12.

proud of these boys, we had a tough lane draw, these guys rose to the

:30:13.:30:23.

occasion, they are incredible. My last interview was terrible, I will

:30:24.:30:26.

not swear in this one, sorry about that, but I just want to thank these

:30:27.:30:31.

guys and the national lottery to bring us together, and to bring us

:30:32.:30:38.

together and train, and it is paying off. The eliminated runner, he will

:30:39.:30:52.

not make it? It is a massive loss to the team, but he is here, he is

:30:53.:30:56.

supporting us, he is guiding us, he is my captain, and without his

:30:57.:31:01.

support we would not be here. Wishing you all well, all the best

:31:02.:31:02.

in the final. the result wasn't official will stop

:31:03.:31:19.

Great Britain have been disqualified. I have no idea why,

:31:20.:31:26.

India have also been disqualified. We mentioned Trinidad and could

:31:27.:31:32.

Tobago from the first heat. -- Trinidad Tobago. The elation that

:31:33.:31:38.

they had at the end of that race was won that which obviously they were

:31:39.:31:43.

realising what had happened. I couldn't see anything wrong. We will

:31:44.:31:47.

try and find out. I am not sure if they are still there. I'm trying to

:31:48.:31:52.

see whether they are and whether they know. There is a medal ceremony

:31:53.:31:59.

going on in the stadium so there -- it will be a bit difficult to find

:32:00.:32:03.

out what is going on. Disqualified for the moment. Will go back to the

:32:04.:32:10.

studio for now. That is the medal ceremony for Ashton Eaton. As

:32:11.:32:17.

Stephen said, we all have no idea. Nothing you can think of that was an

:32:18.:32:24.

infringement? York second position runner has to wait until he crosses

:32:25.:32:27.

the break line which would be the 100 metres to the track mark. If you

:32:28.:32:33.

crossed that before you get to that point, that would be a

:32:34.:32:37.

disqualification. Most of the disqualifications in the four x 400

:32:38.:32:43.

metre relay, as a result of someone protesting that you impeded them.

:32:44.:32:46.

That is too quick for that to have happened. It has to have been the

:32:47.:32:51.

judge deciding that he saw something somewhere that was an infringement

:32:52.:32:53.

and are just can't think of what that would be. It is rare that in

:32:54.:32:59.

some cases, the judge will not wait for another team to protest EPC is

:33:00.:33:03.

an infringement, if he sees someone cross in front of someone. -- if he

:33:04.:33:09.

sees. I didn't see a lot of changes in the latter part of that race in

:33:10.:33:13.

terms of position, a lot at the beginning. Maybe someone cut someone

:33:14.:33:20.

asked. The other thing that could happen is if they position you here,

:33:21.:33:24.

according to weigh your incoming runner comes, with 100 metres to go.

:33:25.:33:34.

-- according to where. They can disqualify you. People have done

:33:35.:33:40.

that because, say they put me in second position, if my guy passes

:33:41.:33:44.

the guy in first, if I pushed him over because I want to be in first

:33:45.:33:48.

position, I can't do that. I will be disqualified. There are some blues

:33:49.:34:02.

they because it has come up on the big screen that India, Trinidad

:34:03.:34:05.

Tobago and Great Britain have all been disqualified. With a 4x4,

:34:06.:34:20.

either sometimes somebody impeding. -- it could be somebody impeding

:34:21.:34:23.

them that causes the disqualification. Let's have another

:34:24.:34:28.

look because we are surely have all the changeovers. Now.

:34:29.:34:37.

This would be fairly straightforward. There is no

:34:38.:34:46.

infringement there that I can see. Nothing the first lake. Everything

:34:47.:34:51.

is clear at this point. Here is the second one. Nothing that I can see

:34:52.:35:08.

there at that particular changeover. Again, it's not just limited to the

:35:09.:35:13.

changeovers. It could be something that happened in another area. At

:35:14.:35:17.

work clearing up the changeovers that. Blair Martin is not in the

:35:18.:35:36.

right place. -- Martin was not in the right place. I think Paul is

:35:37.:35:53.

right. We have been told it is the rule of way you can't start running

:35:54.:35:57.

outside your zone. He is in the zone when he picks it up. Why is he on

:35:58.:36:01.

the inside? They weren't in the lead at the top.

:36:02.:36:07.

I think they were. He took it slow for the Bahamas and then passed

:36:08.:36:26.

Great Britain. Martin had one foot outside the line. You can't start

:36:27.:36:31.

running, you have to be inside. Whether the judges decided that

:36:32.:36:35.

Martin had started running because he had one foot outside. He

:36:36.:36:39.

literally had one foot outside the zone, that would be incredibly

:36:40.:36:44.

harsh. Rooney can't start running, he has to be inside the line. As far

:36:45.:36:55.

as I can see, he was. Steve, I was looking as you are

:36:56.:37:09.

explaining that rule and I did not see an instruction of that rule. --

:37:10.:37:14.

obstruction. May be a don't understand that will

:37:15.:37:23.

exactly as it should be. I am just wondering if it is the position. You

:37:24.:37:32.

said they lined up according to... We weren't able to see whether

:37:33.:37:37.

incoming runners were. Was he in second place when he entered the

:37:38.:37:43.

straight? They are not supposed to move. They would also be

:37:44.:37:51.

disqualified. Isn't it at the 200 cheque? At the bend? -- check. That

:37:52.:38:03.

is the second change and you are happy with that. Can we go back to

:38:04.:38:07.

the rule about you have to be in the position that the official puts you

:38:08.:38:12.

in, that would mean that Great Britain swapped with the Bahamas

:38:13.:38:14.

which would also mean that the Bahamas would be disqualified. That

:38:15.:38:19.

would not be that because they would also disqualify the Bahamas.

:38:20.:38:26.

Is about where Martyn Rooney took off. I then see that. --I don't see

:38:27.:38:40.

that. We have seen so many rules being broken, people being

:38:41.:38:44.

disqualified, reinstated, what will happen? Remember when Tamsin Lewis

:38:45.:38:54.

got Natasha disqualified, in the Commonwealth? Australia were

:38:55.:38:57.

disqualified then, she moved position. Everybody is baffled. Just

:38:58.:39:10.

baffled. Is Martyn Rooney tells the Bahamas athlete to move over, and he

:39:11.:39:15.

doesn't, they would not disqualify the Bahamas. We will hopefully be

:39:16.:39:22.

able to some clear news about why Great Britain was disqualified.

:39:23.:39:28.

Fantastic run, it is devastating. Paula has joined us because

:39:29.:39:32.

obviously the women's 5000 metres is going on in the track shortly.

:39:33.:39:37.

You come from Richard sporting and athletics. . She has look good this

:39:38.:39:47.

year. -- she has come from rich sporting and athletics royalty.

:39:48.:39:56.

She is getting to the bell and thinking that she has a lot left.

:39:57.:40:02.

She is letting gaps open up. She can use it earlier in a flat race.

:40:03.:40:15.

We began this with an Olympic record.

:40:16.:40:55.

D'Agostino, the two of them got up and hobbled round. Almaz Ayana took

:40:56.:41:14.

the record. Women's 5000 metre final and eloquent to stand up -- they are

:41:15.:41:21.

going to stand up. A lot of questions kicking around tonight.

:41:22.:41:24.

Today about whether Almaz Ayana is great to do the same. She had a lot

:41:25.:41:28.

of help in the 10,000 in the sense that the first 4000 metres

:41:29.:41:34.

effectively had a pacemaker. I am not sure she is going to get that

:41:35.:41:42.

tonight. Goodness me. It's not hard, just walk to the line, keep your

:41:43.:41:46.

toes behind the line. I'm not sure if it's the athletes or the

:41:47.:41:51.

officials who are a bit gingery. -- jittery.

:41:52.:42:12.

It was a stunning run which shocked an awful lot of people. They has

:42:13.:42:20.

been a lot of discussion in the environment in which we all exist

:42:21.:42:24.

these days, fingers of suspicion. But you don't raise championship

:42:25.:42:29.

races that fast very often. They don't bring big 10,000s very often,

:42:30.:42:34.

and she showed her ability is such that not only had Sami people are

:42:35.:42:40.

running faster than ever before. -- so many. She read the record book

:42:41.:42:46.

and the standards by which distance running is judged on one if she can

:42:47.:42:50.

do the with 5000 metres. She certainly did rewrite the record

:42:51.:42:55.

books, but look at her style. She is very economic. She runs so

:42:56.:43:00.

comfortable. She doesn't like athletes around her. She doesn't

:43:01.:43:04.

tend to have athletes around her. But there is Eilish McColgan. Great

:43:05.:43:10.

to see her here. I used to be nervous, because you said it didn't

:43:11.:43:18.

really agree with her. But now Eilish McColgan is running around

:43:19.:43:20.

them on the outside. Just relaxing in the race. A good place to be fed

:43:21.:43:31.

her. -- for her. Liza McCarney of New Zealand, 19 years of age and

:43:32.:43:36.

making a sensational improvement this year as a first-year senior --

:43:37.:43:41.

Eliza. She started her competition well in the final. She goes clear.

:43:42.:43:47.

We see Bradshaw brokenly at the site. We solves Brickley at this

:43:48.:43:59.

height. -- we saw Bradshaw go clear at this is height. It is a good

:44:00.:44:08.

clearance in the end for McCarney. She will be a contender.

:44:09.:44:16.

The last athlete to attempt this height, Buchler. We have seen three

:44:17.:44:24.

athlete broke clear on their first attempt only. 3000 and you are out,

:44:25.:44:36.

of course -- three. She does. For athletes go clear at 470. The next

:44:37.:44:46.

height is 480. Bradshaw is amongst them -- four athlete. A good pole

:44:47.:44:53.

vault final developing. The 5000 metres is approaching the first 1000

:44:54.:45:00.

in about three minutes. Pretty slow, especially given what Almaz Ayana

:45:01.:45:07.

run the other night. She ran 14.30 and no other woman in this field has

:45:08.:45:13.

run out for 5000 at all this year. Including Mercy Cherono. That put

:45:14.:45:18.

some perspective on the actual figures. When you analyse those

:45:19.:45:22.

figures, they were staggering figures. I agree with what you said

:45:23.:45:26.

earlier, the fact that they don't run big 10,000 metres at a rally in

:45:27.:45:32.

the championships do you get a pace lead like they did in that 10,000

:45:33.:45:37.

metres. Unlike today, three minutes for the first 1000 metres says it is

:45:38.:45:42.

pretty steady. Most of them can run under 15 minutes for 5000 metres. In

:45:43.:45:48.

their place is Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot. This is a more

:45:49.:45:54.

comfortable place. There is Eilish McColgan looking relaxed on the

:45:55.:46:01.

outside. There is Eilish McColgan. I am a bit surprised that Miyuki

:46:02.:46:09.

Uehara is sitting in the front. But with nine laps to go, I think she

:46:10.:46:12.

will be waiting and waiting, and Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot is in the

:46:13.:46:16.

right place, just one spot behind her. There is a bit of space. Almaz

:46:17.:46:23.

Ayana doesn't like athletes around her. She does not like running near

:46:24.:46:28.

them. She has that open space. I notice all the time that Almaz Ayana

:46:29.:46:34.

is looking at the clock, and I since she is getting ready to make a move.

:46:35.:46:45.

-- sense. So Mercy Cherono, Cheruiyot, running for the silver

:46:46.:46:52.

medal. There was a redhot favourite, and Almaz Ayana return apart. The

:46:53.:47:03.

silver medal was taken then because she was so devastated by the running

:47:04.:47:10.

from Almaz Ayana, is committed front runner not yet at the front. She was

:47:11.:47:16.

listening to what I said. She said OK, Steve, sorry about that. She can

:47:17.:47:21.

change gear. She's not the fastest. But in the middle of the race, she

:47:22.:47:26.

has taken them by surprise again. She will do it again, another 3000

:47:27.:47:30.

metres. A little more than 3000 metres. Let's see how fast she goes.

:47:31.:47:35.

Just under eight laps to go in the women's 5000 metres. The 10,000

:47:36.:47:41.

metre champion and world record holder is now striking out and

:47:42.:47:44.

making a long run for home. We have seen her do this in the World

:47:45.:47:48.

Championships last year. We saw her do it in an believable style in the

:47:49.:47:52.

10,000 metres earlier this week. -- unbelievable. There she goes down

:47:53.:47:57.

the back straight. That is an absolute real injection of pace.

:47:58.:48:00.

Three minutes for the second kilometre.

:48:01.:48:07.

Sandy Morris of America, third best ever after her jumping indoors for

:48:08.:48:19.

93. The height is now 470 in the Olympic final. Second attempt, goes

:48:20.:48:25.

clear. Bradshaw did it on her first attempt, so at the moment, Bradshaw

:48:26.:48:30.

in a better position than the world leader, Morris. Good clearance,

:48:31.:48:37.

though. The next height is 480. Great shots of that clearance by

:48:38.:48:45.

Sandy Morris. This is now all about one person, Almaz Ayana, on her own,

:48:46.:48:53.

putting in a 65 second mark, which is pretty devastating. Their uneven

:48:54.:49:01.

pace would be 68. It just shows she has jotted down all of a sudden, and

:49:02.:49:07.

then world-class runners, Cheruiyot has four world titles and three

:49:08.:49:11.

Olympic medals and is nowhere near, can't even touch Ahmadzai and.

:49:12.:49:15.

Eilish McColgan is in the group behind. -- touch Almaz Ayana. She is

:49:16.:49:23.

working hard to get to that second group of the three canyons. --

:49:24.:49:30.

Kenyans. She's at the peak of her form. Attending to become the second

:49:31.:49:39.

Ethiopian to win the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres double. You would not

:49:40.:49:45.

bet against a few. 6.5 laps to go. Almaz Ayana is pulling away at every

:49:46.:49:49.

stride. Eilish McColgan Bunning at the back of the group and looking a

:49:50.:49:52.

bit hot, hurting a little -- running. But she has to stick to the

:49:53.:49:59.

task and stay at the back allegro. But there is some talent in that

:50:00.:50:07.

group as well. Paula Radcliffe, this is expected. She didn't go from the

:50:08.:50:12.

start but she has run city five and a 66, and at the moment, nobody can

:50:13.:50:19.

live with that. She probably did not expect the world record pace in the

:50:20.:50:23.

Cheruiyot, but then a slow down and she was happy to sit there. It was a

:50:24.:50:32.

question of when she would go -- in the third lap. We are not going to

:50:33.:50:38.

risk trying this, going this pace from this far out, because we won't

:50:39.:50:42.

do it and will have lost a chance of holding on for our medal. Ahmadzai

:50:43.:50:47.

are not with five laps to go leading this 5000 metres by about 30 metres.

:50:48.:50:56.

We just saw the reigning Olympic champion go out. So looking to go

:50:57.:51:03.

clear. She has knotted over three times, and the world champion go

:51:04.:51:08.

sour. -- knocked it over. Bradshaw is remaining. The next height is

:51:09.:51:18.

480. The world champion, Silva, is not one of them. Look at that. No

:51:19.:51:25.

more. We will keep an eye on that while

:51:26.:51:38.

Ayana continues to push on. Outside the 15 minute pace. Eilish McColgan

:51:39.:51:43.

is in the shape of her life and has done very well to get to the final

:51:44.:51:47.

here. She is back in the main group that does not contain the African

:51:48.:51:52.

runners here. The canyons are in their own battle for silver and

:51:53.:52:01.

bronze. -- Kenyans. She has really missed the break and has no chance.

:52:02.:52:16.

A big group run the group there. Eilish McColgan will stay in that

:52:17.:52:24.

group. She will be hoping she can get past a few at the end. Under the

:52:25.:52:31.

world record average for the Fed, tell. If she had done from the

:52:32.:52:35.

start, what you think she is capable of? -- third climate. Close to 40

:52:36.:52:45.

minutes. She came close in the last 5000 metres net 10,000 metre

:52:46.:52:50.

victory. Today she met the leader go and on the prescribed time with

:52:51.:52:53.

about eight laps to go, she decided it was time to get away. She doesn't

:52:54.:52:58.

like athletes around her and doesn't like athletes in front or behind to

:52:59.:53:02.

eating too close. She's little bit nervous about that -- getting. But

:53:03.:53:14.

Cheruiyot is now in third place. We think Ollie by is about ready to go

:53:15.:53:23.

in the pole vault. She is, Steve. -- we think Bradshaw. This could be a

:53:24.:53:30.

medal job if she goes clear. -- job. It was close. She has two more

:53:31.:53:43.

chances. She looks angry. We will keep an eye on Holly Bradshaw. Two

:53:44.:53:49.

more attempts. In the meantime, Ayana a long way ahead. She has

:53:50.:53:53.

dropped the pace a little bit at 4000 metres. She has just run a 69

:53:54.:54:04.

second -- 69 second lap. Cheruiyot with their head down. She's clear

:54:05.:54:09.

amongst the medals. We fully expect her to get a medal. Every time she

:54:10.:54:15.

comes to a tepid ship, every time since 2009, she has done it --

:54:16.:54:22.

championship. Did that 65 and 67 lap do too much damage? Now the crowd

:54:23.:54:30.

are barring. -- mooring. They see the tiny Kenyan come racing past

:54:31.:54:36.

Ayana. Cheruiyot is motoring now. She is moving away from Ayana. In

:54:37.:54:41.

the last lap, she has closed down three or four seconds or even more.

:54:42.:54:46.

There she goes around the top bend. Cheruiyot, the silver-medallist in

:54:47.:54:50.

the 10,000 metres, she has won medals in every event, but not a

:54:51.:54:55.

gold medal in the Olympic Games. Could this be her night? She will

:54:56.:54:58.

come into the finishing straight. The laps global change. It will be

:54:59.:55:05.

one that to go for Cheruiyot -- lap score will change. Involved in the

:55:06.:55:12.

fall in those seats. Running through a bit of pain. -- hits. At the

:55:13.:55:19.

front, what a shock this is. You could not get a price on Ayana not

:55:20.:55:25.

winning this 5000 metres. She was the red, red, red hot favourite to

:55:26.:55:29.

win. All of the talk was about which you break the world record? This is

:55:30.:55:33.

a mirror image of what happened in the World Championships last year.

:55:34.:55:38.

It was Ayana who took over from the prerace favourite, and now it is

:55:39.:55:44.

Cheruiyot who is looking good, looking strong. This will be a very

:55:45.:55:50.

popular win. Cheruiyot has won world titles at 5000 metres and 10,000

:55:51.:55:54.

metres. She has never won an Olympic gold. She took a couple of years out

:55:55.:56:00.

to start a family. She has come back bigger and stronger than ever. At

:56:01.:56:04.

the beginning of the season, she was being beaten by the other Kenyans,

:56:05.:56:11.

message Renault, Hellen Onsando Obiri, but now she is coming down

:56:12.:56:15.

the home straight -- Mercy Cherono. And Cheruiyot of Kenya will become

:56:16.:56:20.

the Olympic champions of 5000 metres. Gold for Kenya! A big shock.

:56:21.:56:31.

Silver for Kenya, and Ayana, she has to settle for the bronze behind

:56:32.:56:37.

Hellen Onsando Obiri. Cheruiyot is one of the great runners in the

:56:38.:56:43.

cross-country, advocate that. A punch of the fist for that. Eilish

:56:44.:56:48.

McColgan, as ever, trying her hardest, trying her best. Cheruiyot

:56:49.:56:53.

has gone through some injury problems in the last two years. With

:56:54.:56:57.

up to the 5000 metres from the steeplechase. Did really well to

:56:58.:57:01.

make it to the final. Fighting all the way to the line. She has done

:57:02.:57:04.

herself pad at the Olympic Games. Eilish McColgan just outside --

:57:05.:57:14.

proud. Well done to her. One thing you never do in athletics, and I

:57:15.:57:19.

think I might have done it in a race, is say there is only one

:57:20.:57:22.

result. We all expected Ayana to win. It does prove that the 10,000

:57:23.:57:28.

metres took a lot more out of her than people thought. They all said

:57:29.:57:32.

that was way too easy. It obviously wasn't. It obviously heard. She

:57:33.:57:37.

could not maintain it tonight. That is right, Steve. The thing about

:57:38.:57:43.

distance running, she ran a 65 second in the middle of the race.

:57:44.:57:46.

She followed it up with a 67. That was tough. Really tough. It was

:57:47.:57:54.

going to close to her limit. But Cheruiyot did not go without, but

:57:55.:58:00.

Vivian Cheruiyot ran a 65 second on the last lap. If you have a choice

:58:01.:58:04.

we run the fastest lap, it is the last butt. There goes Vivian

:58:05.:58:12.

Cheruiyot. -- last lap. It could not go to a better winner then Vivian

:58:13.:58:16.

Cheruiyot. Well done. She can celebrate. Kenya consolidate. And

:58:17.:58:22.

the crowd in the stadium can celebrate tonight -- Kenya can sell

:58:23.:58:25.

right. Back to this pole vault competition.

:58:26.:58:37.

McCarney has a clean sheet so far. No one yet has gone clear of this

:58:38.:58:41.

new height of 480. This will take the lead. -- McCartney. She does.

:58:42.:58:52.

McCartney, well, her first senior major championship. Steve Rippon on

:58:53.:59:02.

the left there, based in on UK for ages. McCartney can't believe it.

:59:03.:59:07.

That goes into the lead. Look at this. A comfortable clearance as

:59:08.:59:13.

well. Bradshaw has knocked it off once and is in bronze medal position

:59:14.:59:18.

as it stands. But what's more jumpers to come. -- lots. That will

:59:19.:59:26.

go down very well indeed in Kenya. None of them have made the 5000

:59:27.:59:30.

metre final before a national embarrassment. The women are

:59:31.:59:34.

upholding their reputation. They won the steeplechase. David Rudisha will

:59:35.:59:42.

stop but Vivian Cheruiyot, a new Olympic record as well, 14 26. But

:59:43.:59:46.

that was a great run. She never gave up. She was running a while the

:59:47.:59:54.

silver, but kept going at a good pace, and Ayana faulted. There she

:59:55.:00:00.

goes. Vivian Cheruiyot go straight past Ayana. She accelerated as you

:00:01.:00:04.

went past, which was crucial. Ayana was struggling. She had done too

:00:05.:00:08.

much and where to hide. Vivian Cheruiyot wet with the group and at

:00:09.:00:14.

times follow the leader -- worked too hard. Every time she goes to a

:00:15.:00:20.

tepid ship, she wins a medal. There is Vivian Cheruiyot, the new

:00:21.:00:23.

champion. Silver in the 10,000 metres, gold in the 5000 metres. A

:00:24.:00:29.

beautiful smile. Arms aloft. A fantastic victory for a great

:00:30.:00:34.

athlete. Silver and gold, you can't do much better than that. That will

:00:35.:00:40.

be a very, very popular win in the world of endurance running. Vivian

:00:41.:00:43.

Cheruiyot is finally an Olympic champion.

:00:44.:01:01.

A new Olympic record. McColgan finished in 13th place. She did very

:01:02.:01:19.

well to make this Olympic final. Stefanidi, second attempt, 4.80,

:01:20.:01:24.

that is a significant jump for Stefanidi. There is the event

:01:25.:01:27.

leader, McCartney. Stefanidi, has been the most

:01:28.:01:40.

consistent by far. Across the circuit, this summer. The Greek

:01:41.:01:47.

athlete goes into second place with that jump, pushes Bradshaw down to

:01:48.:01:52.

fourth. Bradshaw, can she make that clearance? Oh, just flowed into

:01:53.:02:00.

that, may have changed up polls, it looks like it is not recalling the

:02:01.:02:07.

same -- recoiling the same as it was at the lower heights. Look at the

:02:08.:02:11.

energy into that poll, and then getting back as she turned upside

:02:12.:02:15.

down, did not extend the upperbody, was not able to get on top of that

:02:16.:02:19.

poll and use the recoil as effectively. Effectively, the time

:02:20.:02:33.

was off, in simple terms. Sandi Morris, also her second attempt,

:02:34.:02:39.

4.80. Made that look easy. It was a classy jump from the American. So

:02:40.:02:47.

then. Sandi Morris with that clearance, goes into third place.

:02:48.:02:54.

Bradshaw not clear of this height yet. Three athletes have gone clear,

:02:55.:03:04.

so Bradshaw is going to have two improved on her last attempt, as we

:03:05.:03:10.

see Alana Boyd, one of the oldest in the competition, have her second

:03:11.:03:18.

attempt at 4.80. Oh, what a jump from the Australian! Gave it a feral

:03:19.:03:33.

-- fair old rattle. Good technique, that, get back and gets that recoil

:03:34.:03:37.

that I was talking about, that Bradshaw did not get. That is the

:03:38.:03:42.

difference, a second time clearance. So four athletes have gone clear of

:03:43.:03:51.

this height of 4.80. Holly Bradshaw, Scott Simson, the coach, looking on.

:03:52.:03:54.

They'll have worked so hard for this. She is looking for his nod,

:03:55.:03:59.

quite often the coaches call when the wind is right, there is none to

:04:00.:04:03.

speak of here in the Olympic Stadium. The third time of asking,

:04:04.:04:09.

this is to stay in the competition. It is better, it is close, but no.

:04:10.:04:17.

It was her best attempt of the three. The coach can't believe it.

:04:18.:04:27.

But he knows how close that was. Bradshaw appreciative of the

:04:28.:04:31.

support. Look at that, she was over. Went at it sideways on that one.

:04:32.:04:42.

Disappointment. It has come up on the system that Holly Bradshaw is in

:04:43.:04:48.

fifth place, we have seen athletes go in the past from that position,

:04:49.:04:57.

it placed her best finish in the global championships, 64 years ago

:04:58.:05:09.

sixth four years ago. That was close the Bradshaw. Her competition all

:05:10.:05:20.

over. Huge disappointment for Holly Bradshaw. She is just taking it all

:05:21.:05:25.

in and working out that she was so close to a medal of some description

:05:26.:05:30.

there. A slight improvement on the position, from a few years ago, but

:05:31.:05:36.

obviously she will be devastated. Bitterly devastated, she has worked

:05:37.:05:41.

so hard in the last few years to get to this situation, she had a

:05:42.:05:44.

fantastic qualifying, she looked really good, and that the margin of

:05:45.:05:51.

foul, not clearing that high, seem to be gutted. Took some time out to

:05:52.:05:57.

work on her fitness, had some stress fractures in her back, was great to

:05:58.:06:01.

have her back in the sport because she had such unfinished business in

:06:02.:06:09.

this event. Bitterly disappointed. This is not a happy coach. Scott

:06:10.:06:16.

Simson, they lived through every moment, don't they, coaches. They

:06:17.:06:20.

live the high times and the load times -- low times. They do live

:06:21.:06:29.

through so much with you, and the stress of watching somebody compete

:06:30.:06:34.

is much greater than the stress of actually competing out there,

:06:35.:06:36.

because when you are competing in the arena, you know what you are

:06:37.:06:40.

feeling and how much you have left, and what is feeling good and not

:06:41.:06:43.

feeling good. They just have to guess. I think he just knew how

:06:44.:06:48.

close she was, and that she had that jump in her tonight, and she knew

:06:49.:06:52.

that as well, and you can see that in the disappointment there, because

:06:53.:06:56.

she was capable of getting it right. Holly Bradshaw finishes fifth at her

:06:57.:07:02.

second Olympic Games, she is still young, there is plenty of time to

:07:03.:07:05.

get things right of the World Championships in London, let's get

:07:06.:07:12.

active is four x 400, we have not had anything more to explain what

:07:13.:07:16.

has happened, but the picture is beginning to get a little bit

:07:17.:07:19.

clearer that maybe it is to do with the handover between Matthew Hudson

:07:20.:07:22.

Smith and Martyn Rooney, and when you are put in position a certain

:07:23.:07:25.

point on the lap but you have to stay in a position to receive the

:07:26.:07:30.

baton. And in terms of Matthew Hudson Smith, he changed position

:07:31.:07:33.

and their four Martyn Rooney appeared to be in the wrong

:07:34.:07:38.

position, when it actually was not his fault. Matthew Hudson Smith was

:07:39.:07:46.

no longer in this position, and Martyn Rooney was... It would be

:07:47.:07:50.

Martyn Rooney's fault if he moved from the position he was put in...

:07:51.:07:55.

If he did not move he was not in violation. That is what we do not

:07:56.:07:59.

know, if he moved when he was put in position. But have a look at Matthew

:08:00.:08:06.

Hudson Smith's second leg. This was a fantastic leg. Hats off to Matthew

:08:07.:08:11.

Hudson Smith. Again, we think that this, coming off, was where the

:08:12.:08:17.

violation took place. Once Matthew Hudson Smith, we need to see where

:08:18.:08:23.

he is at 200, he is about 150 now, here he is now in first position, if

:08:24.:08:29.

the official places Martyn Rooney in first based on where he is at 200,

:08:30.:08:34.

he would place him in the first position, because Matthew Hudson

:08:35.:08:36.

Smith was winning by that point. Now we are coming up on 100 metres to

:08:37.:08:41.

go, at this point Matthew Hudson Smith is in second place, and if

:08:42.:08:46.

they put Martyn Rooney in second position, he would need to stay

:08:47.:08:50.

there, if he then moved back that would be the violation. We don't

:08:51.:08:52.

know what happened, we can't see that full up from the shot that we

:08:53.:08:58.

saw the back of all the guys ready to receive, nobody appeared to have

:08:59.:09:02.

just moved, they appeared to be very much ready and waiting. Nobody

:09:03.:09:09.

appears to have moved, but when you... Martyn has run the last leg

:09:10.:09:13.

so many times that he would have known that once they get to the 200

:09:14.:09:17.

metre mark you are not allowed to move. And so he would have been set.

:09:18.:09:22.

That is what I am not quite sure of, because we do this in the US in

:09:23.:09:27.

college or the time, coaches will tell you, don't move, because

:09:28.:09:33.

instinctively what you do is, " oh my gosh, I'm first, I want to get

:09:34.:09:37.

back into first place." Instinctively you want to be on the

:09:38.:09:46.

side if your guy is... But he didn't clear because they were still there.

:09:47.:09:50.

There was a time when you used to be able to jostle for position, but

:09:51.:09:53.

they stopped that, and this is the new ruling. They have to be fixed,

:09:54.:09:57.

they have to wait, regardless of if Matthew Hudson Smith went back to

:09:58.:10:04.

sixth, at 200 metres, here he is receiving his bat on, Williams was

:10:05.:10:11.

in fourth place when it was the 200. And he has not moved to any of the

:10:12.:10:15.

higher positions. That is the perfect illustration of it. I think

:10:16.:10:18.

it is an error from the officials, but I know we do have to wait,

:10:19.:10:24.

but... All kinds of conspiracy theories are abounding, it was one

:10:25.:10:27.

of the team that will benefit from this is Brazil, their quartet would

:10:28.:10:32.

be into the final, and Twitter is awash with the kinds of conspiracy

:10:33.:10:36.

theories that this is some kind of greater force at play here. But if,

:10:37.:10:41.

as we think, it is a simple mistake, it is something that can be quite

:10:42.:10:45.

clearly sorted out, because it has all been... There will absolutely be

:10:46.:10:50.

an appeal by the British team, we will find out, I have not been

:10:51.:10:56.

involved in some of speculation as I have over the past 20 minutes, it is

:10:57.:11:01.

just tremendous amount of speculation. We just need to wait

:11:02.:11:06.

and see what happens. There will be some more discussion about this, and

:11:07.:11:09.

there is combat a very different kind, potentially a golden kind,

:11:10.:11:23.

Italo Muhamed is going for gold -- Muhammad, the bronze medallist at

:11:24.:11:29.

London 2012 is going for a leather gold very shortly. This is his story

:11:30.:11:38.

so far. It is the start that great Britain would have wanted. 3-point

:11:39.:11:45.

brickie to the head. So feisty from Muhamed, attacking. Steven Lopez

:11:46.:11:53.

against Lutalo Muhammad, this is for a spot in Ely began semi-final.

:11:54.:11:58.

Should -- in dealing big games semi-final. -- in the Olympic Games.

:11:59.:12:07.

What a game plan and execution. The semi-final, Lutalo Muhammad... And

:12:08.:12:18.

big bronze for Mohamed in London -- Muhamed. Lutalo Muhammad in the

:12:19.:12:25.

final, he has gone further than the last Olympic Games, that was

:12:26.:12:31.

brilliant. He has a fantastic smile, let's hope he is smiling very

:12:32.:12:39.

shortly, it could be Great Britain's 25th of metal, it is at that Carioca

:12:40.:12:50.

arena, Gold yesterday evening when Jade Jones struck gold, no pressure.

:12:51.:12:55.

Pressure is something that Lutalo Muhammad survives on. Against all

:12:56.:13:00.

the pressure that he faced going into those games in London on many

:13:01.:13:05.

people thought it should have been the then world number one who should

:13:06.:13:09.

have been picked, he put all of that to one side, all the abuse he got

:13:10.:13:12.

ahead of those games, he went on to win a medal for Great Britain.

:13:13.:13:18.

Outside the top five world rankings, he has turned it on this week, at

:13:19.:13:28.

this event, the elliptic champion, an impressive win to get through to

:13:29.:13:33.

the final and he wants to carry that on. Is that summing that has

:13:34.:13:40.

impressed you, you have been following Lutalo Muhammad since

:13:41.:13:42.

2012, is that something that has really impressed you, the way he has

:13:43.:13:49.

bounced back? It was a defining moment for him. Prior to that, not

:13:50.:13:53.

many people had known a great deal about him, and from a character

:13:54.:13:59.

perspective, he was so tough, it was not his fault, all this controversy

:14:00.:14:06.

-- controversy, he was on the point of going to the Court of arbitration

:14:07.:14:13.

for sport, he got all that abuse, he got the bronze medal, and since then

:14:14.:14:16.

he is trying to move the sport on. He is a very confident character, he

:14:17.:14:22.

walks out on the arena, he is proud to represent Great he wants to get

:14:23.:14:26.

out there, and get the crowd on side. As you can hear at the moment

:14:27.:14:28.

there are various voices creeping in, to my left them the Koreans are

:14:29.:14:34.

going on little crazy right now because they have just won an

:14:35.:14:37.

Olympic gold, and tae kwon do hails from South Korea. A little bit

:14:38.:14:47.

earlier today they were backing the Korean fighter who beat the German

:14:48.:14:57.

in the finals, and he wants to win over the Brazilian fans here. The

:14:58.:15:04.

world under three, the African champion, this is a tough fight for

:15:05.:15:20.

Lutalo Muhammad. Cisse has won both of their matches, quite

:15:21.:15:26.

convincingly. This is far from straightforward, and a bit of tae

:15:27.:15:32.

kwon do symmetry, Jade Jones one Great Britain's 25th in London in

:15:33.:15:44.

2012, it would be Lutalo Muhammad winning Great Britain's 25th

:15:45.:15:45.

tonight. The women are coming out for the

:15:46.:15:57.

four times 100 metre final. You have just missed the girls being

:15:58.:16:03.

introduced. They do a kind of Quartet return. At Beijing, the USA

:16:04.:16:09.

today Charlie's Angels montage, which left the rest of the world

:16:10.:16:16.

standing. A teddy bear could live up to that. I was just looking down and

:16:17.:16:20.

did not see much action -- I don't think they could. Last time was

:16:21.:16:27.

pretty special. Here come the Brits. They have definitely improved on

:16:28.:16:30.

last year. Some kind of choreography going on. That was a little bit

:16:31.:16:37.

better. I thought that was great. Simple and clean. Andrew Carter will

:16:38.:16:45.

be calling this. I'm sure he would like to commentate on the routines.

:16:46.:16:50.

I would love to! Germany had their hands in air, just didn't care.

:16:51.:16:55.

Nigeria have gone for that as well. Great Britain were quite practised.

:16:56.:17:03.

Canada, what are they up to? One of those as well. Excellent. And the

:17:04.:17:09.

USA, we had talks of them doing Charlie's Angels, they were

:17:10.:17:13.

tremendously impressive in their choreography in the Beijing World

:17:14.:17:17.

Championships. We will also be disappointed. But it is business as

:17:18.:17:21.

usual for the United States. Serious stuff tonight. The United States, in

:17:22.:17:28.

here courtesy of a sultry time trial. We will talk more about that

:17:29.:17:34.

in a moment -- solitary. They have the worst blame because they had to

:17:35.:17:37.

come through a time trial after initially being disqualified. That

:17:38.:17:47.

was for dropping the baton. There is Dina Asher-Smith, part of this

:17:48.:17:53.

polished Quartet. Run well in the heats the second fastest British

:17:54.:17:57.

time ever. So it is Philip, Henry, and Daryll Neita on the anchor leg.

:17:58.:18:03.

Perhaps a changeover from Philip to Henry was a bit side-by-side in the

:18:04.:18:07.

heat. But there is Daryll Neita, who will bring Great Britain and

:18:08.:18:13.

Northern Ireland home. Great Britain and Northern Ireland have not won a

:18:14.:18:16.

medal in this event since the Los Angeles games in 1994, a bronze

:18:17.:18:23.

medal there. The faster various four times 100 to come in just a few

:18:24.:18:29.

minutes. -- fast and furious. Ekaterini Stefanidi at the bar, 485.

:18:30.:18:35.

She has knocked it over once. Second attempt. That is how they do it.

:18:36.:18:50.

Consistency told, 485, second clearance. Any. -- for Stefanidi.

:18:51.:18:57.

This goes into the lead. Great clearance. So the women four times

:18:58.:19:06.

100 metre final. Ukraine in lane eight. Trinidad Tobago, three out

:19:07.:19:19.

of four completed in London. Jamaica, Williams leads the map.

:19:20.:19:25.

Thompson comes in at lane two. Does not get the glory leg, perhaps. Asha

:19:26.:19:35.

Philip, carrying the hopes of great Britain and Northern Ireland. Look

:19:36.:19:38.

out for this Quartet, from Germany. The fastest time in Mannheim just

:19:39.:19:44.

weeks ago. Nigeria not as strong as recent seasons. Not at her best on

:19:45.:19:57.

the second leg. Canada, and the United States. World record setters

:19:58.:20:03.

in London on their way to the gold medal. Gold in the long jump, this

:20:04.:20:18.

one. Asha Philip will lead out Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The

:20:19.:20:24.

only big title in this event has been spread over the Bahamas,

:20:25.:20:28.

Jamaica, Russia and the United States in the last four in the

:20:29.:20:33.

games. Lane one for the United States because of the problems in

:20:34.:20:39.

qualifying. Canada, and Amsterdam, 1928, the last time it is the one

:20:40.:20:43.

from that lane. -- has been won. A lot of noise in the stadium as the

:20:44.:20:54.

pole vault continues, but the way they go. The United States in lane

:20:55.:21:00.

one. Jamaica in lane six. Great Britain just inside looking for the

:21:01.:21:04.

changeover. It is strong from Philip to Henry. Germany are looking quick.

:21:05.:21:09.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland in a strong position. Jamaica in the

:21:10.:21:14.

lead. Dina Asher-Smith has it now. United States looking very quick

:21:15.:21:18.

now. Around the bend they come. Gardner and your time. The United

:21:19.:21:22.

States leads. Jamaica in second. Great Britain in there. But the

:21:23.:21:28.

United States running for gold. Humphreys a surprise the silver. The

:21:29.:21:37.

United States have it. 41.02, blisteringly quick. She brings them

:21:38.:21:42.

home for gold. Jamaica to be silver. And Great Britain have the bronze

:21:43.:21:48.

medal! First medal in this event since 1984. But number one, they

:21:49.:21:55.

say, and they are number one, the United States. The celebrations for

:21:56.:21:59.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a new record. A new British record

:22:00.:22:05.

has taken them to that bronze medal. What a run from them. Realistically,

:22:06.:22:11.

you are always going to struggle to keep up with the United States and

:22:12.:22:14.

Jamaica, but that was a wonderful run. The most important thing, the

:22:15.:22:19.

real unity they showed together. Very familiar with each other. They

:22:20.:22:23.

know all of the ins and outs, where they will be, how that will drive

:22:24.:22:28.

out of the start position. This will always be brilliant and crucial for

:22:29.:22:32.

them to get what they got. They have done that well. The United States

:22:33.:22:35.

did all the damage done the back straight. Phillips held Thompson so

:22:36.:22:39.

well and gave a great baton changeover and that is why they won

:22:40.:22:44.

the title. Look what it means to Desiree Henry. Tears streaming down

:22:45.:22:48.

her face. We will have a look at the whole race. Again, we like to look

:22:49.:22:52.

at the baton changes and see if there was anywhere else could have

:22:53.:22:57.

been improved. I'm not sure they could have been for Great Britain

:22:58.:23:00.

and Northern Ireland. A national record for that bronze medal. That

:23:01.:23:04.

is what it means. Behind the United States and Jamaica. There will

:23:05.:23:08.

always be far and away. A bronze medal is a great achievement here.

:23:09.:23:12.

One of the best things about this, the oldest person in their team,

:23:13.:23:20.

she's 25. 25 years old, Phillips. Apart from that, Henry, takes the

:23:21.:23:24.

baton here and runs their well against Thomson, she's just 20. She

:23:25.:23:29.

passes the baton on to Dina Asher-Smith, who is 20! She runs a

:23:30.:23:37.

storming racier. -- race here. She has an Olympic champion outside her.

:23:38.:23:45.

Great job. Heading the baton on, to a 19-year-old. They have managed to

:23:46.:23:50.

get an Olympic bronze medal. A brilliant performance by them. In

:23:51.:23:56.

the inside lane, she was never going to let anyone pass. Not making any

:23:57.:24:07.

difference in that lane. Not too far from their own record they set in

:24:08.:24:15.

London. Price moving away from Danny Anita. Those are the one, two,

:24:16.:24:22.

three. United States take it again. Is with the strength of Thompson and

:24:23.:24:27.

price, they have the silver, Jamaica. And Great Britain holding

:24:28.:24:33.

off Germany. And you will hear from the British quartet shortly, but now

:24:34.:24:36.

the tae kwon do. More reaction on that historic

:24:37.:24:44.

bronze medal shortly. Let's take you straight to the tae kwon do.

:24:45.:24:52.

The Olympic rings high on the rafter, the two will be highest on

:24:53.:25:00.

the podium? Lutalo Muhammad, the 25-year-old from Walthamstow in

:25:01.:25:05.

London. His father got him into the sport. Started when he was three

:25:06.:25:12.

years of age. He finished third in London and is guaranteed to do

:25:13.:25:16.

better here. Standing in the way of gold, fairly on the march, Cheick

:25:17.:25:21.

Sallah Cisse. He is from the Ivory Coast. 22 years old. He takes the

:25:22.:25:33.

centrestage already. In terms of head-to-heads, the men from the

:25:34.:25:38.

Ivory Coast is leading 2-0 against Lutalo Muhammad. Will it be revenge?

:25:39.:25:45.

Lutalo Muhammad in blue, Cheick Sallah Cisse from the Ivory Coast is

:25:46.:25:46.

in red. Stephen Jennings, the British trade,

:25:47.:26:02.

some final words of encouragement. A massive occasion, first time in a

:26:03.:26:06.

major final, an Olympic final. He will want to get revenge. Cheick

:26:07.:26:13.

Sallah Cisse 2-0 at the moment, but what a time to pull it back. Will it

:26:14.:26:20.

be the time for Cheick Sallah Cisse or will it be time for the men in

:26:21.:26:24.

blue, Lutalo Muhammad? Fairly respectful fighter. The centre

:26:25.:26:33.

referee for this gold medal contest, the men's 80 kg welterweight. This

:26:34.:26:40.

one for gold. Cheick Sallah Cisse in red, and Lutalo Muhammad puts his

:26:41.:26:44.

opponent on his back straightaway. That'll be handy. Two of those will

:26:45.:26:49.

see a point added to the British athlete. Cheick Sallah Cisse just

:26:50.:26:54.

checking out the distance. Slightly beat all of the two. Standing up at

:26:55.:27:03.

six foot four -- the taller. Millimetres can make the difference

:27:04.:27:09.

in this battle. Straightaway, great atmosphere and a good start from

:27:10.:27:13.

Lutalo Muhammad. There is strong, wasn't it? Knocked him off his feet.

:27:14.:27:20.

-- very strong. It will be a point against, but he good and strong

:27:21.:27:25.

start there. Good strong punch from Cheick Sallah Cisse. You heard the

:27:26.:27:31.

punch, you could hear the cry as well. Lutalo Muhammad is showing

:27:32.:27:39.

great confidence and composure here. Cheick Sallah Cisse had the crowd on

:27:40.:27:43.

his side at the start. Lutalo Muhammad doing well just to subdue

:27:44.:27:48.

things here. Patience is a virtue, and that punch almost brooding

:27:49.:27:54.

pivotal bear. -- proving pivotal bear. An engaging battle so far.

:27:55.:28:01.

Yes, engaging and a little bit tactical here. They are trying to

:28:02.:28:05.

feel each other out. They don't want to make mistakes, you can see that.

:28:06.:28:10.

Over reaching a little bit with the punch. Holding the lead on the

:28:11.:28:17.

inside, and the referee sees it. -- leg. Nothing to choose between them.

:28:18.:28:25.

In an open stance, clashing. Tries a punch again. All the time going

:28:26.:28:30.

through with the punch. Not enough force. Not enough accuracy or force

:28:31.:28:37.

to get through that long leg of the six foot four Ivory Coast men. A

:28:38.:28:44.

headshot from Lutalo Muhammad landing over, all lending on the

:28:45.:28:49.

head. Three point two the good with 60 seconds. What a time to get three

:28:50.:28:55.

points. Just waiting there. It was like he stretched over. Totally

:28:56.:28:59.

agree with that. Tactical from Lutalo Muhammad. Almost sneaks

:29:00.:29:04.

another one in there. He invited the back leg kick and snuck upstairs for

:29:05.:29:09.

the 3-point shot. An excellent opening salvo here.

:29:10.:29:20.

The crowd are building atmosphere at the arena. In downtown Rio for the

:29:21.:29:27.

Olympic tae kwon do. Looking good at the moment. We reached towards the

:29:28.:29:33.

dying embers of this first round. Lutalo Muhammad, what a wonder. The

:29:34.:29:38.

him. A great start for him. Wonder what the coaching staff will say to

:29:39.:29:43.

him. -- what a wonderful start for him.

:29:44.:29:48.

Stephen Jennings doing some advice there, likewise the courage from the

:29:49.:29:58.

Ivory Coast. That is the one that caught his jaw. A key to the face is

:29:59.:30:06.

three points. -- coach. A double kick, and one way then the other.

:30:07.:30:12.

Great change of direction. Direction of the match could swing on that

:30:13.:30:13.

one. They have obviously studied Cheick

:30:14.:30:27.

Sallah Cisse, the British team. Likewise team Ivory Coast, this one

:30:28.:30:34.

a real battle. The under 80 kg gold medal contest, Lutalo Muhammad of

:30:35.:30:39.

Great Britain against Cheick Sallah Cisse, the taller man. Slightly

:30:40.:30:42.

further back. Lutalo Muhammad go straight for it. Very aggressive

:30:43.:30:47.

start. He is here to win and determined not just to defend. He

:30:48.:30:51.

has been trying to get past that front leg. That front leg of Cheick

:30:52.:30:55.

Sallah Cisse. When he springs of the back leg, sometimes, that is how he

:30:56.:31:01.

scores. With that headshot. Exactly. It is that open stance, a little

:31:02.:31:06.

shot their from the men from the Ivory Coast. Almost scoring, so

:31:07.:31:11.

plenty to think about for both men. Plenty of time to go for it. Gets

:31:12.:31:19.

caught on the inside. It will go to Cheick Sallah Cisse, and that'll

:31:20.:31:24.

help Lutalo Muhammad's cause no end. Four to the good now.

:31:25.:31:31.

Huge tension, the Olympic final here. Lutalo Muhammad took a bronze

:31:32.:31:40.

medal in London, he now takes a back to 3-point game, gold or silver at

:31:41.:31:46.

stake, big punch from Cisse. This one really hotting up. It is really

:31:47.:31:51.

hotting up. It was bound to, wasn't it. You can just have a look at it

:31:52.:31:55.

now. But to make up those three points. He is attacking fighter,

:31:56.:32:01.

Cisse. He has that pedigree, he has that quality. Muhammad tries a

:32:02.:32:08.

little sneaky Bacchic around the corner, punches and closes.

:32:09.:32:20.

I have seen other related finals, where they just score and then hold

:32:21.:32:27.

off, they don't have to go forwards, it is not a show necessarily for the

:32:28.:32:31.

other... Great show there from Cisse. A bill to passive, the back

:32:32.:32:39.

kick fires through, Lutalo Muhammad now out of the traps, coming across

:32:40.:32:45.

the ring, a 4-point game, both men back tied up in the middle. What an

:32:46.:32:54.

atmosphere to fight in here. The crowd really getting into this. He

:32:55.:32:58.

was out of the blocks they are. That just change the game completely.

:32:59.:33:02.

Keeps grabbing the leg, had to be careful air. Very important there,

:33:03.:33:10.

to maintain discipline. Cheick Sallah Cisse is doing the best to

:33:11.:33:13.

change the tempo here. He was a head shot down, used to back it to get

:33:14.:33:19.

back into it, both men leaning back, surveying their options. The gap

:33:20.:33:24.

between them, the measure of their ambition. Who has the courage to go

:33:25.:33:28.

forward, stick or twist, and they stick together at the end of the

:33:29.:33:33.

second round. Reckless stuff here. The last round always seems to

:33:34.:33:38.

unearth something, and they are that both going to have to go for it. It

:33:39.:33:43.

will both be fighting for that Olympic title, and that is the key.

:33:44.:33:51.

No question about it. Two minutes, indeed, to decide the destination of

:33:52.:33:59.

this gold. It is frenetic stuff, a festival of footwork and fighting, a

:34:00.:34:07.

couple of big punches as well. That 3-point score their just right in

:34:08.:34:22.

the ribs. Cheick Sallah Cisse, some last bits of advice from the coach.

:34:23.:34:28.

Stephen Jennings and Lutalo Muhammad, the coaches have done

:34:29.:34:31.

their work, their charges are out this is the gold-medal contest,

:34:32.:34:36.

Lutalo Muhammad is in blue, Cheick Sallah Cisse is in red, the taller

:34:37.:34:40.

of the two. The formalities dispensed with, it is time to fight

:34:41.:34:44.

and for Cisse to slip over again. Same start as that first round. That

:34:45.:34:56.

is what he wants to do and then try and pick up the points. Tries to

:34:57.:34:59.

land the big punch there, Lutalo Muhammad. Starting well. The tempo

:35:00.:35:11.

set by the British fighter who looks to be in top condition. He tries

:35:12.:35:18.

with a big jump in shot through there,. Just 1.5 minutes to go. It

:35:19.:35:26.

is anybody's match now. Who wants it most? It will come down to tenacity

:35:27.:35:37.

and desire. We have seen the skill, it is now time to check their will

:35:38.:35:42.

and courage. Both men had battled hard to get the year. The

:35:43.:35:46.

qualification was arduous, and the route to the final perilous. Who is

:35:47.:35:50.

going to take the big brown here, the Olympic champion will emerge

:35:51.:35:53.

from this fight -- the big crown here. The punch again there from

:35:54.:36:00.

Lutalo Muhammad. The only noise audible above the coaches, tension

:36:01.:36:14.

here is massive. I think it will be decided on a head shot. That was

:36:15.:36:26.

close. The footwork first, here is a shot from Lutalo Muhammad on the

:36:27.:36:32.

inside, with the... Yes. The point is invalidated, grabbing the leg on

:36:33.:36:41.

the inside. That brings it, 45 seconds left. He had done it a few

:36:42.:36:48.

times, taking the leg as he comes in. That has cost him dearly there

:36:49.:37:00.

with that. Four points each, into the latter reaches of this, the

:37:01.:37:02.

business end of the gold-medal contest. The 80 kg gripping punch

:37:03.:37:09.

from Muhammad, not much steam left in that one. Casting Ferrer, both

:37:10.:37:14.

men working so hard... There is a head shot from Lutalo Muhammad, he

:37:15.:37:20.

has knocked that headgear halfway down Copacabana. Will it score, it

:37:21.:37:26.

is the domain of electronic sensors, there are sensors inside the head

:37:27.:37:29.

guard. This could be huge controversy. If it hits the face,

:37:30.:37:36.

you can ask for a replay. If it hits the head guard, it is up to the

:37:37.:37:42.

technology to score. How laughable would the technology look if this

:37:43.:37:47.

does not score. That head guard was kicked like a football down the

:37:48.:37:51.

street. How far is he going to hit the head guard. Here we go again.

:37:52.:37:55.

The only thing there perhaps, the use of the hand on the way through,

:37:56.:38:01.

perhaps flicking up to lift it off, let's give the referees and judges a

:38:02.:38:05.

chance to look at this one, unsuccessful, looking at the video

:38:06.:38:09.

replay, the initial opinion was wrong. We did not see the hand, did

:38:10.:38:21.

we. That is the benefit of the video replay. Now 6-4 to the man from

:38:22.:38:32.

Great Britain. 6-4 and everything to fight for now. Got to keep his

:38:33.:38:41.

composure than from the Ivory Coast, can he produce a miracle. -- the man

:38:42.:38:47.

from the Ivory Coast. He has been strong all day, he is one second

:38:48.:38:55.

away here, Lutalo Muhammad. Could this be pivotal, Lutalo Muhammad,

:38:56.:38:58.

closes down, blocks, and there is a head shot in the last second from

:38:59.:39:03.

Cheick Sallah Cisse, the man from the Ivory Coast finds the win and at

:39:04.:39:11.

the last second, what a turnaround, he fought to the finish, Cheick

:39:12.:39:15.

Sallah Cisse is your man, Cheick Sallah Cisse is the man, Lutalo

:39:16.:39:19.

Muhammad could not hang on, he fought so perfectly all they, but in

:39:20.:39:25.

the last second it is a silver medal for Great Britain's metallic Hamid

:39:26.:39:33.

-- Lutalo Muhammad. Grow a Cisse Jr, the Olympic champion. -- Cheick

:39:34.:39:42.

Sallah Cisse. We had seen everything now, Cheick Sallah Cisse, in the

:39:43.:39:45.

last second produces a gold-medal winning reverse... Absolutely the

:39:46.:39:52.

last second of that contest. He just, he just kept going forward,

:39:53.:39:56.

and it just goes to show that that last-minute can change everything.

:39:57.:40:01.

Not only that, it was the last second in the end, to win the

:40:02.:40:06.

Olympic title, he stole it. And that was incredible. While. A wonderful

:40:07.:40:11.

victory there, takes two men to fight, Lutalo Muhammad excellent all

:40:12.:40:16.

the way through, he had one hand on the gold-medal, this man has both of

:40:17.:40:22.

them. Cheick Sallah Cisse, wonderful movement and in the last second,

:40:23.:40:26.

that reversed Tommy kit which is worth four points, -- kick. Worth

:40:27.:40:34.

its weight in gold. Cheick Sallah Cisse, Ivory Coast, wonderful win.

:40:35.:40:40.

There is Olympic champion. There is the land that champion. Utterly

:40:41.:40:43.

heartbreaking, and I am sure you have seen many amazing incredible

:40:44.:40:47.

Olympic moments, but that must surely be right up there, heartbreak

:40:48.:40:51.

for Lutalo Muhammad, he had his finger on the gold-medal, and lost

:40:52.:40:57.

it, we will be hearing from Lutalo Muhammad very shortly. We are ready

:40:58.:41:02.

for the four x 100 metre men's relay final, which is quite literally the

:41:03.:41:07.

final act, not just of the evening, of Usain Bolt was Mac Olympic

:41:08.:41:12.

career. Here they are, to being introduced to the crowd. Quite a

:41:13.:41:18.

straightforward no-nonsense choreographed routine now, USA

:41:19.:41:23.

Michael, you are not quite so happy with this. You got to do a little

:41:24.:41:30.

more than that. That was weak. I was disappointed in the Jamaicans and

:41:31.:41:34.

the US. They need to stay focused now. This was bitterly

:41:35.:41:39.

disappointing, it is the home crowd full of it is the Brazilians, it was

:41:40.:41:43.

the home crowd, what the Brazilians were waiting for. And here we go,

:41:44.:41:51.

they made us wait, they teased us, what have Great Britain got? A

:41:52.:41:58.

better fist pumping. I think the women were definitely more

:41:59.:42:04.

choreographed. What a moment. This is it, Usain Bolt, the triple triple

:42:05.:42:13.

beckons. The end of his Olympic career, and what a career. But can

:42:14.:42:20.

somebody come and spoil the party? This has all the hallmarks of a

:42:21.:42:24.

classic four x 100 metre relay final. Trinidad have got a cracking

:42:25.:42:34.

team, that have got a great team, there are others who are in here as

:42:35.:42:40.

well. Including Japan, a new national record in qualification,

:42:41.:42:43.

almost half a second off your previous best. That is quicker than

:42:44.:42:49.

Great Britain have ever run. Jamaica, what about this team. The

:42:50.:43:02.

supper PAL -- Asafa PAL. -- Asafa Powell. What about last year when

:43:03.:43:11.

Mike Rogers and Tyson Gay messed it up, now they get to go as one in

:43:12.:43:16.

three. Brazil are in lane two. Great Britain have made it to the final,

:43:17.:43:22.

the only time, the only other time since 1992 that we made it to the

:43:23.:43:27.

final, we won the gold-medal in 2004. We are in lane one, some

:43:28.:43:38.

riders missing, it will be Gemili on the last leg. Usain Bolt waits, and

:43:39.:43:47.

he watches. Please ring me the baton. -- bring me. Great Britain

:43:48.:43:59.

lane one, Brazil and two, USA lane three, Jamaica lane four, Japan lane

:44:00.:44:05.

five, China lane six, Canada lane seven, Trinidad Tobago lane eight.

:44:06.:44:10.

The men's four x 100 metre final. Asafa Powell leading to make our

:44:11.:44:15.

way, Mike Rogers the quick start, trying to taking down. Richard Kelty

:44:16.:44:20.

going to Great Britain. It is a decent chase for Jamaica. Justin

:44:21.:44:28.

Gatlin on the outside. Watch the changes, not such a good one for

:44:29.:44:32.

Jamaica. A little bit out of it at the moment. Bolt is going to get

:44:33.:44:35.

this but on level with the USA and Japan. Who is going to win this one?

:44:36.:44:41.

USA in the lead, but Bolt has got it, and Usain Bolt is doing what he

:44:42.:44:46.

always does, bringing it home for Jamaica! It is gold again! 37.27 the

:44:47.:44:53.

winning time. The triple triple, he has done it! History, history,

:44:54.:45:06.

history, history. Usain Bolt! The greatest ever. Japan and, -- Japan

:45:07.:45:16.

ran an incredible race. You are not going to run Usain Bolt down at the

:45:17.:45:19.

end, but Japan beating the USA for the silver medal. He was relying on

:45:20.:45:27.

his old friends, he was relying on the supper PAL -- Asafa Powell, he

:45:28.:45:33.

was relying on Ashmead, he was relying on Blake. They have their

:45:34.:45:41.

part to play, in delivering this script that we all wanted to see.

:45:42.:45:49.

Really, they should proclaim him the eighth wonder of the world. He is,

:45:50.:45:54.

and has been, and forever will be, the greatest Olympic track and field

:45:55.:46:00.

athlete we have ever seen, and we are all privileged to have been here

:46:01.:46:06.

throughout his career, and watch his political form and is -- Olympic

:46:07.:46:10.

performances. So many people in this stadium will

:46:11.:46:21.

be able to say I was there the day he won his ninth, yes night, Olympic

:46:22.:46:28.

medal. -- night. What was great about that race was we had to see

:46:29.:46:33.

Usain Bolt. It was a great race. It was close, Colin. There was always a

:46:34.:46:39.

worry, I don't know how big a worry it was, that the other three may be

:46:40.:46:46.

given too much to do, the USA might not be as good, but in the end, he

:46:47.:46:53.

is just too good. He is just a fantastic athlete. With a support

:46:54.:46:59.

cast who were equally as good. Again, slick baton changes working.

:47:00.:47:04.

This is what is in the Japanese team get that silver medal. Incredible

:47:05.:47:09.

performances. Six teams went under 38 seconds. Six teams. That tells

:47:10.:47:14.

you the quality of this race. Incredible! Once you sent -- is a

:47:15.:47:21.

bold but that the time, he had to get past a pen, and once he was in

:47:22.:47:24.

that. On strike, there was nobody that would catch him -- had to get

:47:25.:47:30.

past Japan, at once he was in that stride. A really great person and

:47:31.:47:37.

athlete. Usain Bolt, we are happy you have done what you have done,

:47:38.:47:41.

and we are ultimately pleased we have witnessed the majority. Is

:47:42.:47:49.

there a better site in sport? Usain Bolt in full flow, but on in hand.

:47:50.:47:57.

Gold medal beckoning. -- the time. The finishing line he has owned

:47:58.:48:03.

through his whole career. Great Britain, as Colin said, still ran

:48:04.:48:09.

under 38 seconds, and they will tell us that is a record following one.

:48:10.:48:12.

They are probably right. Michael, what did you make of that? Usain

:48:13.:48:17.

Bolt has done it, but this was an incredible race. Nobody dropped the

:48:18.:48:23.

baton. The US were in it. Japan was in. We knew they had a great two.

:48:24.:48:28.

Jamaica just needed to get it around to Usain Bolt. Watch the Japanese

:48:29.:48:32.

team on the outside Jamaica. They have been running well all year

:48:33.:48:39.

long. Nobody expected this. Colin said Usain Bolt might have to chase

:48:40.:48:42.

someone, we thought it might be the Americans, but it was the Japanese

:48:43.:48:47.

team. Very impressive by them. Usain Bolt completing the triple triple.

:48:48.:48:54.

Very disappointing for the US team. That last hand off was not great.

:48:55.:48:59.

Bianca did not run well in the 100 metre final either. -- the ankle.

:49:00.:49:10.

The Usain Bolt ran well all the way. Fantastic performance for him at

:49:11.:49:13.

this checking chip and I'm sure he is relieved, overjoyed and extremely

:49:14.:49:19.

happy with that -- championship. It is testimony to Usain Bolt that

:49:20.:49:26.

2008, 2012, 2016, he has got himself not only in shape, because obviously

:49:27.:49:34.

he is such a great athlete, but all of the problems he may have had with

:49:35.:49:37.

injuries, especially in recent years, he has got himself to the

:49:38.:49:42.

starlight. As Michael said, not even a hint of silver or bronze, hold all

:49:43.:49:48.

the way -- start line. Lane one was the problem of Great Britain. They

:49:49.:49:51.

didn't really do anything wrong. Just managed to get the baton to add

:49:52.:49:56.

to at the end. But it has been a frustrating athletics for Adam

:49:57.:50:01.

Gemili. I read the Bay have anything to worry about in terms of being

:50:02.:50:05.

criticised the exact I don't think they have. Lane one, incredible.

:50:06.:50:10.

They should be really proud. What I like about them, they will still

:50:11.:50:15.

criticise themselves. They will still be reaching for improvement.

:50:16.:50:19.

As you say, there is no criticism from us. They did a great job

:50:20.:50:28.

getting to the final and delivering. Well, Richard, you had that terrible

:50:29.:50:32.

lane one draw that you talked about yesterday, you gave it your all.

:50:33.:50:37.

Under 38 seconds. It shows the quality you are up against. Yeah, we

:50:38.:50:43.

ran our hearts out. We said going into this we would put every inch of

:50:44.:50:50.

effort in. We all have trust in each other and we ran our heart out. We

:50:51.:50:56.

came up short, but we are proud of each other. There is not much more

:50:57.:51:01.

we can say, but I'm really proud of the guys and I love every single one

:51:02.:51:09.

of them. Can't really say much more. With the lane one draw, we are

:51:10.:51:12.

confident you could still be in the mix? Yet, I think you saw we were.

:51:13.:51:17.

We gave it our all. It is disappointing because we put a lot

:51:18.:51:20.

of work into this and it means a lot. We have come together as a

:51:21.:51:24.

team. We know each other well and are practically family. You see a

:51:25.:51:28.

lot of people put their hearts on the line. We love this board. We

:51:29.:51:32.

love one another and spend a lot of time together -- sport. We went into

:51:33.:51:37.

this as a team with the other guys at the back. We all wanted the same

:51:38.:51:42.

thing. We came out on what you saw were four guys with a massive squad

:51:43.:51:44.

behind them putting their heart on the line. James, we will talk about

:51:45.:51:50.

the team ethic and squad effort they got you through to this point? It

:51:51.:51:56.

has been since the beginning of the year. We have all of the guys, but

:51:57.:52:07.

it's a must. -- loads of us. Any format of us in the final, it is a

:52:08.:52:13.

blessing to be here. -- only format. Ending up six of the Olympics, we

:52:14.:52:18.

ran such a fast time in London and the anniversary games and you knew

:52:19.:52:25.

we were in shape, and you can say what you like about lanes, but we

:52:26.:52:27.

showed our potential. It is disappointing and heartbreaking. We

:52:28.:52:31.

know we have the capability of winning. A sense of frustration,

:52:32.:52:36.

especially when you see teams like pen, not exec becoming out of

:52:37.:52:43.

nowhere, but springing a surprise on the Americans -- Japan. It is a real

:52:44.:52:49.

shame after yesterday, coming back late to the village. All of the guys

:52:50.:52:54.

were out. I got there about half one in the morning and everybody was

:52:55.:52:58.

waiting. We have such a great team spirit this year. We just feel

:52:59.:53:03.

really disappointed for the guys on the sideline and everyone at home

:53:04.:53:11.

that we could not deliver a medal. We got around but it wasn't fast

:53:12.:53:16.

enough today. We can just give it our best and take from there. We

:53:17.:53:19.

know you gave it your all. Thank you.

:53:20.:53:26.

They will be back for more. They are clearly a hungry quartet. Jamaica

:53:27.:53:33.

are not hungry any more. They have well and truly been satisfied

:53:34.:53:38.

tonight. Called the Jamaica and NI Olympic gold for Usain Bolt. -- gold

:53:39.:53:43.

for Jamaica and a night Olympic gold. A tremendous relay. A lot of

:53:44.:53:49.

dancing as you can imagine. We will be back here to hear from the

:53:50.:53:53.

Jamaicans and see a little bit more of the parting. First we will go to

:53:54.:54:01.

Jason with the aftermath of that Lutalo Muhammad fight which ended so

:54:02.:54:07.

dramatically -- partying. What a time for us to be alive and see

:54:08.:54:10.

Usain Bolt Win a triple triple. Back to you shortly, but Lutalo Muhammad

:54:11.:54:17.

has been fighting Cheick Sallah Cisse of the Ivory Coast. A genetic

:54:18.:54:21.

night in the tae kwon do. -- genetic. Let's show you what

:54:22.:54:26.

happened with two minutes remaining. We will bring you the last couple of

:54:27.:54:31.

moments of that contest very shortly. We are staying on these

:54:32.:54:35.

pictures for an hour because they are incredible scenes. Usain Bolt

:54:36.:54:41.

celebrating with his team -- for now. Sporting a Bristol flag as

:54:42.:54:46.

well, wonderful to see. He loves Brazil. I can tell you now that we

:54:47.:54:51.

can show you the last couple of stages of that with Tyler Muhammad

:54:52.:54:57.

Bauer. Stand by for sheer drama -- Lutalo Muhammad.

:54:58.:55:01.

Didn't see the hand. That was the thing. That show you is you the

:55:02.:55:09.

benefit of the video replay as we go into the last 20 seconds. Muhammad

:55:10.:55:16.

takes the Bush kick and he will take that, so it is 6-4 Great Britain. --

:55:17.:55:22.

Bush kick. Everything to fight for now. He has to keep his composure.

:55:23.:55:31.

Hanging on, the men from the Ivory Coast. Can he produce a miracle?

:55:32.:55:36.

Muhammad has been strong all day. He has blocked and parried and moved.

:55:37.:55:42.

He one second away. Could this be pivotal? Muhammad roses down.

:55:43.:55:47.

Blocks, and there is a headshot in the last second for Cheick Sallah

:55:48.:55:53.

Cisse! The men from the Ivory Coast finds the win in the last second!

:55:54.:55:59.

What a turnaround! You want a fight to the finish, Cheick Sallah Cisse

:56:00.:56:03.

is your man. Cheick Sallah Cisse is the man. Lutalo Muhammad could not

:56:04.:56:10.

hang on. He fought so perfectly all day. But in the last second, it is a

:56:11.:56:15.

silver medal for Great Britain's Lutalo Muhammad. This man here,

:56:16.:56:21.

Cheick Sallah Cisse Junior, never say die. Olympic champion. I can't

:56:22.:56:27.

imagine what you are going through right now. Can you try to put it

:56:28.:56:35.

into words? It was so close. I was one second away from being Olympic

:56:36.:56:41.

champion and my dream. I don't want to cry on TV, but I'm so distraught.

:56:42.:56:47.

I'm so sorry for the people who stayed up late to watch and shimmy

:56:48.:56:53.

on. Let them down the last second -- shimmy on. -- cheer me. I'm sorry.

:56:54.:57:03.

This is so hard. How tough it was out there? Do you take any

:57:04.:57:09.

consolation this is still Great Britain's best ever result for

:57:10.:57:12.

amount upon to fight a? I was so close to being the Olympic champion.

:57:13.:57:27.

-- for a tag -- tae kwon do five. I have to hold it together. The

:57:28.:57:34.

emotions are so raw. It is hard to put into words how disappointed I

:57:35.:57:40.

am. How proud I am they contributed to Great Britain's record tally, it

:57:41.:57:43.

should have been able medal. I'm so upset. I can't speak clearly. -- a

:57:44.:57:49.

gold medal. I will still do a lap for the crowd as they have supported

:57:50.:57:54.

me so much. But I'm absolutely gutted to blow it like that. You

:57:55.:57:59.

know, that is life. Winners and losers. That is what makes is

:58:00.:58:05.

playing sports are interesting. And so distraught to be on the losing

:58:06.:58:13.

end here. After four years, I trained so hard. I trained so hard.

:58:14.:58:21.

I wanted to quit. I persevered and I got here and made it to the Olympic

:58:22.:58:25.

final. I'm so grateful to God that he allowed me to be here. But so

:58:26.:58:29.

disappointed right now. It is unbelievable. One of the low points

:58:30.:58:39.

in my life. This is very sad to me. I'm sorry I could not converted to

:58:40.:58:43.

God. You still went better than London. You made history tonight. Go

:58:44.:58:48.

entering the podium. We will speak to you later -- Gold. We love sport,

:58:49.:58:54.

but sometimes it can be so cruel sometimes. There are no words.

:58:55.:59:00.

Muhammad with one of the bravest interviews I have ever seen talking

:59:01.:59:04.

to a reporter. He has a little smile on his face. That was recorded a

:59:05.:59:09.

short time ago it straight after he lost with the final kick of his bout

:59:10.:59:14.

in the final seconds. Many people on social media are asking why did

:59:15.:59:19.

Muhammad engage? Why did he engage with Cisse? But he has won a silver

:59:20.:59:23.

medal. It could have been a gold medal. One second away from Olympic

:59:24.:59:29.

glory. And Lutalo Muhammad won bronze at 2012 and has been hampered

:59:30.:59:34.

by injuries over the last year. He has come back fighting and being

:59:35.:59:38.

absolutely brilliant tonight. It was one second away from becoming the

:59:39.:59:45.

Olympic champion. However, it is Cheick Sallah Cisse of the Ivory

:59:46.:59:49.

Coast who has won the gold medal. Cheick Sallah Cisse! Let's have a

:59:50.:59:55.

listen to this. MUSIC PLAYS

:59:56.:00:07.

Cheick Sallah Cisse is the tae kwon do champion in the 80 kg category,

:00:08.:00:16.

winning it in absolutely dramatic circumstances. And Lutalo Muhammad,

:00:17.:00:22.

I don't think I have ever seen an emotional interview like that ever

:00:23.:00:25.

broadcast on television. It was utterly heartbroken. But well done

:00:26.:00:27.

to Cheick Sallah Cisse. I don't know if you heard that

:00:28.:00:41.

interview with lut Yale-io, Gabi. He was a second away, Gabi, from

:00:42.:00:45.

winning an Olympic gold medal. Jason, we did. And all of us here

:00:46.:00:51.

just felt the deepest sympathy for him and the rawest of emotions that

:00:52.:00:56.

came pouring out from him. And there will be raw emotions here now.

:00:57.:00:59.

Extraordinary scenes. The US quartet are around, taking the adulation of

:01:00.:01:03.

the crowd with the flags on their shoulder, but they don't know the

:01:04.:01:07.

news that's just been announce the, steefr.

:01:08.:01:10.

No, they don't and they're probably the only people in the stadium that

:01:11.:01:14.

don't know they've been disqualified. They've just got to

:01:15.:01:18.

the end of their lap of honour. It's been up on the big screen - a

:01:19.:01:22.

changeover violation. So Trinidad and the United States both

:01:23.:01:26.

disqualified. We're not quite sure which changeover it was. We're just

:01:27.:01:30.

going to have a little look around here.

:01:31.:01:33.

So USA are in lane three inside Jamaica. Rodgers was the lead-off

:01:34.:01:40.

man. He's going to pass the baton to Justin Gatlin. Now what you're

:01:41.:01:46.

looking for are the green flashes across the - sorry, yellow line.

:01:47.:01:52.

That's the first change. Looks OK. We'll have a look. Colin's going to

:01:53.:01:58.

watch this with me. This one looks OK to me, Colin.

:01:59.:02:02.

I was even looking at Rodgers' feet to make sure he didn't clip any

:02:03.:02:07.

lines. You only need to put one foot on the line and it's instant

:02:08.:02:10.

disqualification. No, that's fine. No. It's in the box.

:02:11.:02:16.

So Gatlin is then going to hand over the baton to Tyson Gay.

:02:17.:02:20.

Remember it was Tyson Gay who was involved last year in the World

:02:21.:02:24.

Championships when he handed to Mike Rodgers. Now, there's the yellow

:02:25.:02:29.

line. Picks the baton up. Fine. So then

:02:30.:02:35.

it's the last change and this is the one where they looked to be having

:02:36.:02:45.

problems, didn't they? Yee you're looking for that yellow line. This

:02:46.:02:56.

is why Trayvon Bromell has gone a little early. I'm struggling to find

:02:57.:03:03.

out exactly where the changeover disqualification was.

:03:04.:03:09.

Hand back, middle. Looks fine. That looks all right to me.

:03:10.:03:20.

You know, the GB team are still querying the 4 x 4 disqualification,

:03:21.:03:26.

still looking for conclusive evidence on that and we've looked at

:03:27.:03:30.

the 4 x 100m and I can't see anything. No, not clearly. Maybe the

:03:31.:03:36.

first. Let's see what the result ends up being.

:03:37.:03:43.

Michael, you watched that the same as we did. What did you think? I

:03:44.:03:49.

concur with you guys' position. I didn't see anything. The only one

:03:50.:03:52.

that was close would have been the first one. We had a little bit of a

:03:53.:03:56.

weird angle where we couldn't see it quite as well as we could the

:03:57.:04:00.

others. I did not see any violation, certainly not on the final exchange,

:04:01.:04:04.

which was the one that initially I thought was a little bit delayed

:04:05.:04:09.

because, um, it did look like Trayvon Bromell went off a little

:04:10.:04:13.

bit early but he was clearly within the zone during the exchange. This

:04:14.:04:18.

is the first exchange. They is the -- this is the closest one we've

:04:19.:04:25.

seen. Everything looks fine so far. I don't see a violation there. There

:04:26.:04:31.

is a good chance that the officials - because we've seen some

:04:32.:04:33.

officiating here that hasn't been quite, um... Quite as... Crisp as we

:04:34.:04:41.

would like and they've had to go back and made some changes after

:04:42.:04:44.

disqualifying and had to reinstate and different things like that. So

:04:45.:04:50.

there's a good chance that we may see some of these disqualifications

:04:51.:04:53.

reinstated because we're not seeing the violations that you would

:04:54.:04:57.

traditionally see or that you would normally look for or that we've seen

:04:58.:05:01.

with violations in the past where athletes or teams had been

:05:02.:05:04.

disqualified. There we are, on the second exchange, well within the

:05:05.:05:08.

zone, exactly where you would want it to be.

:05:09.:05:14.

Tyson Gay to Trayvon Bromell in the anchor in the zone. He has to

:05:15.:05:18.

exchange before crossing the yellow line and he's well within the zone.

:05:19.:05:27.

Again. There's always a chance that maybe it's not necessarily a zone

:05:28.:05:30.

disqualification or a fraction, maybe there was some sort of lane

:05:31.:05:35.

infraction that may have caused the disqualification but we haven't seen

:05:36.:05:39.

anything like that so far. Michael, it has come up as a sector

:05:40.:05:47.

transgression. Trip day was a lane violation. This is the only one. You

:05:48.:05:52.

cannot - obviously Gatlin is wanting to get the baton early here from

:05:53.:05:55.

Mike Rodgers. So there's the line. Did he get hold of the baton just

:05:56.:06:00.

before that yellow line? I think that's the only one that looks

:06:01.:06:05.

contentious. That could be it, Steve. He could have taken the

:06:06.:06:10.

exchange outside the bat. But if you can see, the bat is in Justin's hand

:06:11.:06:18.

before he's in the box and I think that could be the problem. The

:06:19.:06:22.

acceleration zone is first and if you watch, the baton is in his hand,

:06:23.:06:27.

he's touching the baton and he's not in the actual exchange zone. That

:06:28.:06:33.

could be it. That's a hawk-eyed judge is all I can say. When you're

:06:34.:06:40.

doing that at full speed - obviously the USA would come and look at that

:06:41.:06:44.

but they have to provide evidence that refutes what the judge has

:06:45.:06:49.

seen. The other exchanges are fine as we've all seen. That view there

:06:50.:06:56.

for me wasn't totally 100% but it looks as though Justin Gatlin had

:06:57.:07:00.

his hand... And that's because they want to go early, Colin, on that

:07:01.:07:04.

back straight. Rodgers is a good starter. They want to give Gatlin

:07:05.:07:07.

the long leg, is it were. Let's see here. There's the yellow line. You

:07:08.:07:11.

cannot hand the baton before that. Does he have it, Colin? I think he

:07:12.:07:16.

has his hand on the baton and the baton itself - remember what this

:07:17.:07:21.

race is - you've got to pass the baton within the box. I think the

:07:22.:07:24.

baton was actually given to him before he was in the box. He may be,

:07:25.:07:29.

but the baton is not in the box, if you see what I'm saying. That's what

:07:30.:07:32.

they're being finishicy on here. And that is the rule. The baton must be

:07:33.:07:42.

in the exchange zone. Well, they've been a little bit

:07:43.:07:45.

lenient with some of the judging but not in the last couple of days.

:07:46.:07:49.

Great Britain, if that stands, will move into fifth place in the 4 x

:07:50.:07:56.

100m in 37.98, the top five teams all, for the first time ever,

:07:57.:08:01.

running under 38 seconds. We'll have another look at the

:08:02.:08:05.

disqualification for Great Britain and see if we can clear it up any

:08:06.:08:11.

further on the 4 x 400m. But now let's go to the other Steve,

:08:12.:08:16.

Backley, who is rounding up what ended up being a thrilling pole

:08:17.:08:18.

vault competition. Sandy Morris can win gold with this

:08:19.:08:39.

very jump, last attempt, oh, she's got it... Oh, my word! That was so

:08:40.:08:48.

close! S terks -- Stefanidi can't believe it! Absolutely thought that

:08:49.:08:51.

Morris had got over that. I think she did as well!

:08:52.:09:02.

It was a great effort and Ekaterini Stefanidi of Greece has taken the

:09:03.:09:04.

gold medal. Well, that was a marginal foul for

:09:05.:09:20.

Morris. The Americans thought she'd gone clear. It's a height she's

:09:21.:09:26.

surpassed indoors earlier this year. It was a great attempt but it means

:09:27.:09:32.

gold is handed to Stefanidi from Greece. Congratulations all round.

:09:33.:09:35.

There's your gold and silver medallists. Holly Bradshaw of

:09:36.:09:40.

Britain finished in fifth place and Stefanidi, that 4.85m was enough for

:09:41.:09:44.

gold ahead of Morris, the same height. Eliza McCartney, the world

:09:45.:09:51.

junior record-holder for bronze and Holly Bradshaw was a very credible

:09:52.:09:56.

fifth place. Well, this is the look back at the

:09:57.:10:07.

throw that won the hammer. Dilshod Nazarov of Tajikistan, the

:10:08.:10:10.

first ever medal for Tajikistan. He's a bit of a one-man team. He

:10:11.:10:14.

carried the flag in the Opening Ceremony and he's also the president

:10:15.:10:18.

of the federation, would you believe? 78.68m to extend his lead.

:10:19.:10:23.

He took that in the third round, extended it in the fifth.

:10:24.:10:28.

No-one could catch him and a gold medal for the first time ever for

:10:29.:10:35.

tack yidge stand. -- Tajikistan, any medal in any

:10:36.:10:43.

event for that matter. Wonderful performance from Dilshod Nazarov,

:10:44.:10:47.

good series as well. 78.68m, enough for gold.

:10:48.:10:56.

So the flag of Tajikistan, the first time we've seen that in celebrations

:10:57.:10:59.

in an Olympic Stadium. Not a night has gone by here without

:11:00.:11:27.

some kind of anomaly when it comes to officiating. We've seen all kinds

:11:28.:11:31.

of bizarre and wonderful decisions, appeals and appeals being overturned

:11:32.:11:40.

but the 4 x 400m men's relay disqualification from Great Britain

:11:41.:11:43.

has left his scratching our heads. We've had nothing official

:11:44.:11:46.

announced. The best guess - and it is a guess - is that it was

:11:47.:11:50.

something to do with the handover with Martyn Rooney when he received

:11:51.:11:54.

the battion from Matthew Hudson-Smith. That is our... Our

:11:55.:12:01.

best guess. Here you see Matthew should son-Smith taking the baton

:12:02.:12:04.

and we don't see anything there that would rise to the level of any sort

:12:05.:12:12.

of violation. S um, you know, the rule that Steve Cram quoted is to do

:12:13.:12:19.

with how the outgoing runner's positioned and what he does once he

:12:20.:12:23.

starts to take over and -- take off and so that's how we've sort of

:12:24.:12:27.

narrowed it down to that exchange with Martyn Rooney. We keep looking

:12:28.:12:32.

here and we just don't see anything in the actual ex change that would

:12:33.:12:38.

rise to the level of a violation but what we don't know is if there was

:12:39.:12:41.

any sort of positioning issues and there are some rules around that and

:12:42.:12:45.

we're just not quite sure if that was the case. So, you know, what

:12:46.:12:51.

will be happening right now is the British team will be working with

:12:52.:12:56.

the officials. They will be getting an explanation as to what took

:12:57.:13:00.

place. It may be on the final exchange. That's what we've narrowed

:13:01.:13:04.

it down to. We're just hearing right now that it could be Williams to

:13:05.:13:09.

Hudson-Smith possibly. It could be anything. You know, the plot

:13:10.:13:17.

thickens. Someone's head has just gone into the shot there. I just

:13:18.:13:22.

can't see it. Lane two is standing on the line. Look at the Belgian

:13:23.:13:27.

guy! He's in Matthew Hudson-Smith's lane.

:13:28.:13:29.

It's more likely the hand. Steve, come in. Steve Cram. Yeah, OK guys,

:13:30.:13:35.

so that picture really doesn't help because I think you're looking at a

:13:36.:13:39.

white line. Before that red line there's a red dotted line - if you

:13:40.:13:43.

turn round yourselves and look down at the track you'll be able to see

:13:44.:13:46.

it. They have to be standing inside that. They've said Matthew

:13:47.:13:53.

Hudson-Smith's foot and that of the Indian athlete next to him was on

:13:54.:13:57.

the red line as he was standing ready to take the baton. Although it

:13:58.:14:00.

looks like they're all roughly standing in the same place, his foot

:14:01.:14:04.

is on the line. There's a judge standing looking right down that

:14:05.:14:08.

line. This is not a very good view for us and this is the problem the

:14:09.:14:11.

British team are having at the moment - they can't get a conclusive

:14:12.:14:17.

view that can go against what the judge has said. So there is no

:14:18.:14:21.

evidence for them to be able to refute what the judge saw. So this

:14:22.:14:28.

is what we're being told at the moment. The complication might be

:14:29.:14:31.

that Brazil have also been advanced into the final. Obviously I'm not

:14:32.:14:34.

saying... That would be great for the home crowd but we're being told

:14:35.:14:38.

that he had the foot on the line. That's the interpretation from the

:14:39.:14:41.

judge and at the moment they're struggling to find a good picture,

:14:42.:14:45.

as we just saw there, that could prove otherwise. Thank you very

:14:46.:14:48.

much, Steve. Well, that is, um... Very, very, you know, for us to look

:14:49.:14:52.

at from that angle, it's very difficult to make any kind of

:14:53.:14:56.

conclusion. Typically what will happen is once the judge lines you

:14:57.:15:05.

up, if you move closer because your incoming runner needs to move a full

:15:06.:15:10.

400m, if you move closer, he will motion for you to move. Maybe they

:15:11.:15:13.

don't have a judge doing that here, so that would be a little bit

:15:14.:15:16.

difficult. That would be a little bit tough if they wouldn't do that

:15:17.:15:20.

and just kind of leave you to your own devices, you know? But the

:15:21.:15:24.

officiating, again, has not been stellar here, so I would think that,

:15:25.:15:27.

you know, the British team would have a very good case, but what

:15:28.:15:31.

we've seen also in the case of some of the other violations is that

:15:32.:15:35.

runners have been disqualified, teams have gone in and appealed

:15:36.:15:40.

because it was such a minor infraction and they've still allowed

:15:41.:15:43.

that to stand. So who knows what will happen? Look, we will know

:15:44.:15:47.

tomorrow when we turn up here, or we'll know later tonight, whether or

:15:48.:15:51.

not any kind of appeal has been successful. But let's talk about

:15:52.:15:54.

success rather than anomalies in officiating. The women's 4 X 100m

:15:55.:15:59.

relay from Great Britain got a bronze medal tonight, a magnificent

:16:00.:16:07.

run from the quartet, Denise. We've seen our British women set

:16:08.:16:11.

nationals records this year and they came in really, really confident.

:16:12.:16:17.

We've talked about them gelling and talked about the trust and I think

:16:18.:16:22.

Desiree Henry here ran a superb second leg. Clean, crisp changeovers

:16:23.:16:27.

is what this relay was all about and this is what secured them this

:16:28.:16:33.

fantastic bronze medal. Young Darryl Neita, her first

:16:34.:16:36.

Olympics. It's incredible, this experience she's getting. All she

:16:37.:16:40.

had to do was hold on to that position which, as you can see she's

:16:41.:16:43.

comfortably, comfortably in third. I mean it's brilliant. We didn't get a

:16:44.:16:49.

team to qualify in 2012 and Desiree Henry lit the flame in 2012 and

:16:50.:16:52.

there she is winning a bronze medal at the Olympic Games. There's legacy

:16:53.:16:56.

right there for you. Absolutely. You could see just how much it meant to

:16:57.:17:00.

her, tears streaming down her face. I mean they have worked hard, you

:17:01.:17:03.

know? The relay has been so important to this squad? And just

:17:04.:17:07.

look at her face there. It's just fantastic.

:17:08.:17:11.

Magnificent run as well from the USA, who had to run in lane one

:17:12.:17:15.

because of what went on yesterday in their qualification and they came

:17:16.:17:18.

through and stormed to victory but that looks just as squeet for that

:17:19.:17:22.

young crop of sprinters and they caught up with Phil afterwards.

:17:23.:17:26.

Well done one and all. Emily, it was key to get the team into the race.

:17:27.:17:32.

You did that? It's always the aim to get the girls a good position going

:17:33.:17:36.

into second. I found myself more nervous for the relay today than I

:17:37.:17:42.

did for my individual. I didn't want to let these girls down. They got

:17:43.:17:46.

the job done, we've qualified tomorrow and we'll bring it back

:17:47.:17:49.

tomorrow. You must have been chomping at the bit to get involved

:17:50.:17:53.

in the Olympics. You did a tremendous job. I hope so. It was

:17:54.:17:57.

good, you know. I've been watching the rest of the girls and the rest

:17:58.:18:01.

of the team perform and I was just waiting for my time and I finally

:18:02.:18:05.

got to step out in the Olympic Stadium in Brazil T was great!

:18:06.:18:07.

Loving the Olympic hair as well by the way. Thank you. I try! You're in

:18:08.:18:15.

a great position. It's important to hold and maintain that qualifying

:18:16.:18:18.

position. You did it in a calm and assured way. Well, I've had a lot of

:18:19.:18:22.

experience with the relay and I could kind of feel the Canadian on

:18:23.:18:26.

my shoulder but I thought don't let her get you before the bend. I

:18:27.:18:33.

wanted to keep my inside of the curve and pass over in second with a

:18:34.:18:37.

good lead. Safely through to another final. You've been here so many

:18:38.:18:41.

times with the British team and this is a strong medal hope for you. It's

:18:42.:18:45.

a strong medal hope but we try not to get overexcited. We had a job to

:18:46.:18:50.

do today. We'll go back, rest up and come back and fight for tomorrow. We

:18:51.:18:54.

wish you all well for the final and well done today.

:18:55.:19:00.

You will recognise that that is the 4 x 400m quartet. Apologies for

:19:01.:19:03.

that. Finger trouble in the gallery, I think. We will hear from the 4 x

:19:04.:19:08.

100m girls shortly and they are, as I say, a young group. They've worked

:19:09.:19:12.

so hard together and they really have this responsibility, you feel,

:19:13.:19:16.

that they feel they're getting the funding to get this right and they

:19:17.:19:19.

feel they've got to make it right on the big stage. They want to deliver,

:19:20.:19:23.

don't they? They do but they also know that they have the ability and

:19:24.:19:29.

you have that potential and you feel a responsibility to realise that

:19:30.:19:32.

potential and I think that's what they feel. I think that's also the

:19:33.:19:36.

frustration of the men's 4 x 100m relay team. It's not about the

:19:37.:19:39.

funding necessarily but you heard each one of those guys say, "We know

:19:40.:19:44.

we could be there." That's the frustration they feel. It's good

:19:45.:19:46.

they do. They'll take that forward. I completely agree.

:19:47.:19:48.

they do. They'll take that forward. I completely agree. We've seen just

:19:49.:19:51.

a new attitude within the British team. They are hungry. They don't

:19:52.:19:56.

fear this arena any more. You know, they work hard, they know what

:19:57.:19:59.

they're about and they want to maximise when they come to these

:20:00.:20:02.

championships. That's such a brilliant attitude to have. It's

:20:03.:20:07.

long overdue. Where does that come from? The shining examples of Jess

:20:08.:20:12.

and Mo? I think a lot of it is that but it's also particular to this

:20:13.:20:16.

group of girls. They want to have each other's back the whole way

:20:17.:20:20.

round, to put the work in together. When you have a good group, you're

:20:21.:20:24.

inspiring and motivating each other to work together. And to do it for

:20:25.:20:29.

each other to bring home the medal for all the work you've put in.

:20:30.:20:34.

Let's hear from this guy and his friends, Usain Bolt and co, the 4 x

:20:35.:20:43.

100m Olympic champions. Congratulations on the gold medal.

:20:44.:20:46.

It was surely never in doubt. Yeah, it was never in doubt. We went out

:20:47.:20:50.

there very confident. We're a unit, you know. We're a team. We love

:20:51.:20:58.

competing on the track and I love running with these guys. It's

:20:59.:21:04.

amazing. You seem to do it with no -- so much joy, no pressure. Did you

:21:05.:21:10.

feel the history on Usain and what he could do tonight? Not really. We

:21:11.:21:15.

were having fun. We just had to go out and execute. We did well. The

:21:16.:21:19.

confidence we have, you know, it's hard to go out there with pressure.

:21:20.:21:23.

We're here to relax. We're very confident, you know, we just wanted

:21:24.:21:27.

to get the stick in that man's hand. Well, it shows. Yo had, ann, you're

:21:28.:21:34.

such a laidback quartet. Tell me what this means to your nation.

:21:35.:21:40.

You're sprint kings again. We came home victorious because Usain Bolt

:21:41.:21:44.

needed to be immortal and the team worked together and put it together

:21:45.:21:47.

and he's immortal. But guess what? I encourage him to come back for 2020!

:21:48.:21:52.

Did you hear that? No, no, what did he say? He's encouraging you to come

:21:53.:21:58.

wack for 2020. No, no, no, I'm just happy that I did what I came to do.

:21:59.:22:03.

I'm proud of myself. I have to give thanks to the guys. They came

:22:04.:22:07.

through for me! Triple-triple, treble-treble, whatever you want to

:22:08.:22:11.

call it but to deliver it - the enormity is blowing our minds. What

:22:12.:22:15.

about you? The pressure is real but, um, I look at it as accomplishment,

:22:16.:22:19.

you know what I mean? I enjoy pressure. I live for these moments.

:22:20.:22:23.

Foe me I came through and I'm proud of myself. How will you celebrate?

:22:24.:22:28.

Oh, well, I won't celebrate now. I'm just going to go home. I'll stay up

:22:29.:22:32.

late tonight just talking, having fun. I'm just happy. I'm just

:22:33.:22:36.

relieved you know what I mean? I've done it and it's just: Of. It's

:22:37.:22:41.

just... It's unreal. You never knew from the start that this would

:22:42.:22:45.

happen to me and now it has. It's a brilliant feeling. I told the guys

:22:46.:22:51.

if they didn't come through for me, I'd beat them up. You're the

:22:52.:22:55.

greatest with Ali and Pele. I'm the greatest. I'm the greatest. You have

:22:56.:23:01.

50 or 60 interviews lined up. You're a gentleman, Usain. Thanks for

:23:02.:23:04.

always speaking to us. No problem. Steve, this is because of you. You

:23:05.:23:09.

are the best. You make me feel good when I watch the commentary. Nothing

:23:10.:23:13.

to do with me? Nothing to do with you! Cheers. Thank you.

:23:14.:23:22.

Oh, Phil, I'm sure it is a little bit but yeah, Steve has commentated

:23:23.:23:26.

on some of the most fantastic moment in Usain Bolt's career and what a

:23:27.:23:30.

pleasure it is for all of us to sit here and see his greatness on

:23:31.:23:34.

Olympic track for the final time! We are going to miss this man, Michael

:23:35.:23:39.

Johnson! Yeah and I think he's going to miss it as well but I think, you

:23:40.:23:42.

know, what I heard there is that he's relieved and I think that, you

:23:43.:23:46.

know, it speaks again that he told me he does feel pressure and I think

:23:47.:23:50.

that showed right there, that it is a lot of pressure being Usain Bolt.

:23:51.:23:53.

It is a tremendous amount of pressure to have, you know, so much

:23:54.:23:57.

expectation that, you know, early on in his career, there was an

:23:58.:23:59.

expectation that every time he went out there, he'd break a world record

:24:00.:24:03.

and I think he's relieved now to have done it, done it well and

:24:04.:24:08.

gotten it all over with with pure gold.

:24:09.:24:23.

USA have had great success in hurdling. Well done, USA, but Great

:24:24.:24:29.

Britain could be moving up the table tomorrow, Paula. Mo is on the track

:24:30.:24:35.

again. 5,000m time. What we saw in the women's 5,000m

:24:36.:24:40.

tonight underlined the enormity of the task he has before him. He'll be

:24:41.:24:45.

tired from that. He ran the heat. I believe he can do it but he'll be

:24:46.:24:50.

tired and it's very, very tough to do that - he's done it once already

:24:51.:24:55.

and to do it again will be huge. But we will be here and with him every

:24:56.:25:00.

step of the I know you will be too. 4 X 400m relays and who knows? Great

:25:01.:25:05.

Britain's men may be reinstated by then. Thanks for your company this

:25:06.:25:12.

evening. Back to you, Jason.

:25:13.:25:16.

Lost for words, Gabi and the A-Team. Thank you for that.

:25:17.:25:20.

On that, Usain Bolt, an absolute privilege to be sitting here

:25:21.:25:23.

watching that man in Rio and all those Olympic Games. Come on, Usain,

:25:24.:25:28.

let's have you in 2020 in Tokyo. You know it makes sense.

:25:29.:25:30.

One of the other Great British stories in the past couple of weeks

:25:31.:25:33.

has been Great Britain's women's hockey team. They're unbeaten and on

:25:34.:25:39.

their march to the final. Standing in their way - the Netherlands.

:25:40.:26:07.

Helen Richardson-Walsh takes it across to McCallin.

:26:08.:26:59.

It's a goal. It's scored by Kitty van Male. Her goal has ignited this

:27:00.:27:08.

Dutch run of pressure. It's a goal for Netherlands, 2-1 in

:27:09.:27:32.

front. 2-1 with 4.5 minutes left until half-time and Great Britain on

:27:33.:27:51.

a rare attack. Cullen has scored! Crista Cullen brings Great Britain

:27:52.:27:52.

level! A penalty corner has been given.

:27:53.:28:00.

Great Britain get a foot on the ball. The Dutch have their fifth

:28:01.:28:03.

penalty corner of the game. This time they strike. Kitty van

:28:04.:28:25.

Male gets the goal, her second and the Dutch lead by three goals to two

:28:26.:28:29.

with 8.5 minutes left in the third period.

:28:30.:28:46.

Another opportunity now. Same personnel involved, Unsworth,

:28:47.:28:50.

and Ansley. She's scored! Great Britain are level! I think it could

:28:51.:28:54.

be Nicola White. I'm not 100% certain. It doesn't matter. It

:28:55.:28:59.

doesn't matter at the moment. We will find out. 3-3.

:29:00.:29:03.

Last 10 seconds. The gold medal game is going to a

:29:04.:29:12.

penalty shoot-out. 3-3 at the end of normal time.

:29:13.:29:19.

Penalties to follow. First penalty of the shoot-out in

:29:20.:29:29.

the gold medal game. Helen Richardson-Walsh on her way,

:29:30.:29:36.

holds it up. Saved.

:29:37.:29:43.

Hinch off her line, goes out to meet her. And does enough. It's a miss.

:29:44.:29:57.

Charging towards Sombroek, sweeps it round. Still time left but now she's

:29:58.:30:04.

run out of time. Three penalties, no luck from any player yet.

:30:05.:30:16.

Fourth penalty of the shoot-out. Hinch has got hold of it. Hinch will

:30:17.:30:24.

kick it clear. They've run out of time.

:30:25.:30:30.

Maddie Hinch absolutely brilliant. Will she be the first to score?

:30:31.:30:33.

Brought down. Penalty stroke. Helen Richardson-Walsh, penalty

:30:34.:30:40.

stroke. Scores!

:30:41.:30:42.

CHEERING Great Britain are off the mark in

:30:43.:30:49.

the shoot-out! The Dutch haven't scored one yet.

:30:50.:30:54.

She's going all the way round Maddie Hinch and Hinch pushes Leurink's

:30:55.:31:04.

shot away. Laura Unsworth.

:31:05.:31:12.

Unsworth on her way. Unsworth versus Sombroek. She saves. Another chance

:31:13.:31:18.

for Unsworth. High, over the top. Hinch once again taking her

:31:19.:31:21.

position, slapping her crossbar. Slapping her posts. Van Geffen

:31:22.:31:31.

poised over the ball, Hinch watching it every step of the way. Oh, she's

:31:32.:31:36.

hit the post. She's missed. Hinch will clear.

:31:37.:31:53.

Webb on her way to win gold for Great Britain. Turns, scores! That's

:31:54.:31:58.

the golden goal! Great Britain have won the Olympic gold medal! Well

:31:59.:32:10.

just what a job they've done. Remember they won bronze at London

:32:11.:32:17.

2012. They have a remarkable team spirit. That was evident in London.

:32:18.:32:21.

They worked so hard. They banned themselves from Twitter and they've

:32:22.:32:24.

gone and clinched the Olympic gold medal. Well done, ladies.

:32:25.:32:33.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN PLAYS Absolutely brilliant. You know, this could

:32:34.:33:14.

change the face of women's hockey, of men's hockey, for the next couple

:33:15.:33:18.

of years. That is going to act as such an inspiration to many girls,

:33:19.:33:22.

many ladies, who are playing hockey right across our country. Fantastic

:33:23.:33:26.

achievement. Unbeaten as well, remember R didn't even lose a game

:33:27.:33:31.

in the pool stages. Went into this gold medal match. A lot of people

:33:32.:33:35.

fancied the Netherlands but they went into that game full of

:33:36.:33:37.

confidence, knowing that they could win it. Just look at these smiles.

:33:38.:33:42.

We had so many incredible moments for Team GB but just take a look at

:33:43.:33:46.

these smiles. Depending on your point of view and which sport you

:33:47.:33:50.

love, you have to say this has got to be one of the great moments for

:33:51.:33:54.

Great British sport this year and for Great British sport as well at

:33:55.:33:59.

these Olympics. Look at into smiles. They're so focused, a talented

:34:00.:34:03.

watch. They're led by Kate Richardson-Walsh so well. What a

:34:04.:34:06.

thrilling final as well. Just so tense, unbelievable stuff right to

:34:07.:34:10.

the very end. Unbelievable. You could write a book

:34:11.:34:19.

about this. Unbelievable. Look at those big smiles and to beat the

:34:20.:34:22.

Netherlands and to beat Germany as well, that is such a -- some

:34:23.:34:26.

achievement. Well done to Great Britain's women's hockey team. It's

:34:27.:34:30.

been a remarkable day once again here in Rio. Let's also hear now

:34:31.:34:33.

from the women we've just seen on the track and field. They got a

:34:34.:34:38.

bronze medal in the 4 x 100m relay. They're with Phil.

:34:39.:34:47.

To deliver a national record on the biggest night of your life, Asha,

:34:48.:34:53.

how do you begin to describe it? Secretly we were all scared but

:34:54.:34:58.

never told each other. But, like, we came here in supposition to get a

:34:59.:35:01.

medal and we delivered. We know we had a lot of pressure to get this

:35:02.:35:05.

medal. But we were confident from London and running 41 in the heat. I

:35:06.:35:11.

had so much trust and faith in these girls. Individually, they'ralented

:35:12.:35:15.

and as a team even better. You know what it is, yeah? I've been with

:35:16.:35:19.

this here time since 2011. Four years ago, we didn't even make it

:35:20.:35:23.

and the fact that we've come here, this is for, like, all the girls

:35:24.:35:28.

that have, um, tried so hard. I have to thank all the girls from 2012

:35:29.:35:32.

because they supported us on Twitter and messaged us personally. I cannot

:35:33.:35:35.

thank them girls enough. That support from them, we did for them

:35:36.:35:39.

as well. Us girls were never at the top but now we finally are, I can't

:35:40.:35:42.

believe I'm sharing this experience with these girls and I'm so happy.

:35:43.:35:46.

Big thank you to these girls and the girls at home. Big team effort. Well

:35:47.:35:51.

said to Asha. Desiree, you were lighting the cauldron four years

:35:52.:35:54.

ago. As Asha said, there was no British team even in the women's

:35:55.:35:58.

event then and here you are with a medal! I can't believe it. 2012 was

:35:59.:36:03.

special for me with different reasons because I lit the cauldron

:36:04.:36:07.

but I thought it was my first Olympics and I went out to enjoy it.

:36:08.:36:10.

I had the thought of coming back with a medals but the fact that we

:36:11.:36:15.

done it and to see Darryl cross the line in third, tears were rolling

:36:16.:36:19.

down my eyes, amazing feeling of accomplishment. We have so many

:36:20.:36:23.

girls behind the lines as well that have given us the confidence to come

:36:24.:36:27.

out and run hard. It's a massive effort. It's taken four years so

:36:28.:36:29.

thank you so much to everyone that has made this happen. Dina, what a

:36:30.:36:33.

wonderful Olympics to do so well in an individual final and now take a

:36:34.:36:37.

medal home with you. Can you even begin to reflect on what's happened

:36:38.:36:41.

to you? I'm just honestly so proud of these girls. Because we have

:36:42.:36:45.

worked unbelievably hard. We've been practising this since January. Of

:36:46.:36:49.

all the teams in the line, we probably honestly worked the

:36:50.:36:53.

hardest. We had trust in each other. We've worked our changes inside out,

:36:54.:36:56.

so many different girls and different combinations. We've worked

:36:57.:36:59.

so hard and the help of our coaches and the help and support of

:37:00.:37:02.

everybody that plays National Lottery and the National Lottery as

:37:03.:37:05.

well, this medal would not be here. We've worked so hard. So many people

:37:06.:37:10.

have been on our side. This is for the entire nation. Thank you.

:37:11.:37:14.

Darryl, what a meteoric rise for you to come on to the grandest stage of

:37:15.:37:19.

all and leave with a medal at 19. Do you know - I'm absolutely

:37:20.:37:23.

speechless. I literalliam so proud of my team and everyone around us,

:37:24.:37:27.

the National Lottery. This time last year, I would never have imagined

:37:28.:37:31.

being here. I'm just speechless and I'm just happy we have this faith

:37:32.:37:35.

and trust in our team. Your face said it all, to be honest, when you

:37:36.:37:39.

crossed the line. That was a picture. I couldn't believe it and

:37:40.:37:42.

then I saw it was a British record. We absolutely smashed it and I'm so

:37:43.:37:46.

happy. Don't you want it all? You deserve the celebrations tonight.

:37:47.:37:49.

Congratulations to you all. Thank you very, very much. Thank you.

:37:50.:37:53.

Thank you. And that is why we love the Olympic Games. We have seen

:37:54.:37:57.

what, in the past 45 minutes, the joy and pain of the Olympics. The

:37:58.:38:04.

joy of the 4 x 100m relay and the pain of lieutenantial-io Mohammed

:38:05.:38:10.

missing out on a gold medal. -- lut Yale-io Mohammed, missing out on --

:38:11.:38:15.

Luta will, o Mohammed, missing out on gold by one second. That's sport

:38:16.:38:17.

for you. Well, he's been superb up to this

:38:18.:39:05.

point. He's been very promising for some time. He has raced up the

:39:06.:39:11.

respectability stakes here. He's been absolutely superb. It will

:39:12.:39:16.

be a fascinating clash this one, between these two.

:39:17.:39:26.

He's trying to control of the leg here.

:39:27.:39:35.

He's fighting hard to avoid being taken down. Back to standing but

:39:36.:39:40.

still working with just one leg in control here.

:39:41.:39:46.

He attempts to seize the two-point take-down score and the Georgian is

:39:47.:39:50.

in some difficulty. Back they go. No score. That's the

:39:51.:39:57.

kind of score that he was routinely getting in earlier matches, not this

:39:58.:40:00.

time. That's right. That's what makes this

:40:01.:40:05.

so fascinating. We get to the apex of the competition and you have two

:40:06.:40:08.

wrestlers so accomplished, very little between them. It will be a

:40:09.:40:14.

joy to watch this one unfold over the next 4.5 minutes.

:40:15.:40:28.

Now, again the leg. So no score after two minutes and at

:40:29.:41:05.

this point... There will be a clock if there's no score.

:41:06.:41:14.

Sometimes it's so hard to differentiate between the two

:41:15.:41:18.

wrestlers as to which is the least passive.

:41:19.:41:26.

The wrestler under the passivity clock is under more pressure

:41:27.:41:31.

negotiation question about it. It's well defended by Haguchi and --

:41:32.:41:38.

Higuchi and quons wently the Japanese wrestler takes the

:41:39.:41:40.

single-point advantage. He goes for it. No score. How good was that

:41:41.:41:54.

defence from the Georgian? Quick to size up what the Japanese wrestler

:41:55.:42:05.

was to there. Fantastic recovery. Higuchi has put down a marker there.

:42:06.:42:13.

He's telegraphed that one so if he goes for it again, Khinchegashvili

:42:14.:42:25.

will be even more aware of it. It's absorbing so far. Just a point in it

:42:26.:42:31.

with Higuchi getting that penalty point. Khinchegashvili is an

:42:32.:42:35.

experienced wrestler despite his relatively young age. Hugely

:42:36.:42:45.

successful in his career absolutely no panicker weariness from him. It's

:42:46.:42:49.

just a matter of finishing the job off.

:42:50.:42:58.

It's easier said than done, though. This time Higuchi more decisive in

:42:59.:43:02.

scoring two points. Something more authoritative in the way he got

:43:03.:43:06.

that. He's looking to continue here as well.

:43:07.:43:13.

Still has the grip here. Can he go further and apply the gut wrench to

:43:14.:43:20.

get the turn? No. Well defended again by

:43:21.:43:25.

Khinchegashvili. That was really, really excellent stuff from him.

:43:26.:43:30.

Guest again gets the leg. He's been utterly consistent in his approach

:43:31.:43:33.

there. This time, Khinchegashvili backing away.

:43:34.:43:36.

He'll try to turn this round into a points-scoring position of his own,

:43:37.:43:44.

which he's done. How good was that? He's not done with yet.

:43:45.:43:53.

Looks to get the gut wrench. Instead goes for the legs.

:43:54.:44:03.

This is a problematic position for the Japanese wrestler. Trying to

:44:04.:44:07.

roll him and turn him but there's no score. Superb defence from Higuchi.

:44:08.:44:17.

Khinchegashvili was trying his absolute but did dig very deep into

:44:18.:44:21.

his soul there and his opponent couldn't do it. Let's get ready for

:44:22.:44:26.

the last 90 seconds. This one is well set up.

:44:27.:44:32.

Someone is taking home a gold medal at the Olympic Games.

:44:33.:44:44.

Who is it going to be? Will it be the World Champion? Khinchegashvili?

:44:45.:44:53.

He trails by a point at the moment. There's danger here of a passivity

:44:54.:44:57.

violation and it gets very difficult now. Higuchi was defending too much.

:44:58.:45:04.

So his lead is in danger of disappearing here. Might we have a

:45:05.:45:21.

result separated by a countback? Both wrestlers just happy to let

:45:22.:45:29.

these seven seconds tick out maybe. We might have a Grandstand finish in

:45:30.:45:33.

the last 40 seconds or so. Higuchi tried to go for the leg there on one

:45:34.:45:41.

more occasion. But it is now three points apiece and by virtue of

:45:42.:45:46.

having scored the last point, Khinchegashvili is the leader.

:45:47.:45:51.

That's on the countback system so suddenly it's all turned around and

:45:52.:45:56.

it is the Georgian who is in gold medal position but for how much

:45:57.:46:03.

longer? Well, we've got a challenge from the Japanese camp.

:46:04.:46:08.

That's been dismissed by the looks of things and on we go.

:46:09.:46:16.

Let's get on with the wrestling. Into the last 20 seconds of the

:46:17.:46:19.

bout. Khinchegashvili of Georgia has got the lead at the moment by virtue

:46:20.:46:23.

of the countback system. It's that tight. He scored the last point. He

:46:24.:46:28.

has the lead going into the final ten seconds. Can he hold on or does

:46:29.:46:32.

Higuchi have one last final decisive attack? It doesn't look like it. It

:46:33.:46:37.

looks as though it is, indeed, going to be the gold medal to Vladimer

:46:38.:46:47.

Khinchegashvili of Georgia! Well, the challenge has come in here. The

:46:48.:46:51.

referee is not sure what the challenge is for. But, again w a

:46:52.:47:05.

gold medal on the line... Higuchi's challenge will be reviewed by the

:47:06.:47:14.

committee. Surely this is going to be gold to Georgia.

:47:15.:47:20.

Well, the challenge has come in here... They're challenging in hope

:47:21.:47:27.

really rather than any sense of expectation. There's nothing there,

:47:28.:47:31.

no change to the score except for the addition of a single point to

:47:32.:47:37.

Khinchegashvili. He takes the gold medal. The silver will go to Rei

:47:38.:47:43.

Higuchi of Japan. We thought it might be a very tight

:47:44.:47:48.

bout. We thought it might go down to the wire. It certainly did. The

:47:49.:47:56.

victor and Olympic gold medallist going one better than last time when

:47:57.:48:00.

he was a silver medallist in London 2012. This time, at Rio 2016, he

:48:01.:48:08.

takes the gold. Georgia's Vladimer Khinchegashvili. Second gold medal

:48:09.:48:16.

for Georgia at these games. They -- Games. They picked up one in

:48:17.:48:21.

weightlifting as well. No question that Khinchegashvili is

:48:22.:48:25.

one of the best wrestlers in the world. The high quality of rest

:48:26.:48:31.

letters in that world was absolutely first class so for him to come

:48:32.:48:36.

through and emerge victorious is some achievement for him. All set

:48:37.:48:52.

now for the gold medal match in the men's 74kg class in wrestling at Rio

:48:53.:48:57.

2016. This promises to be some match.

:48:58.:49:14.

Aniuar Geduev of Russia up against Hassan Yazdani of Iran. #7 Geduev is

:49:15.:49:19.

ranked higher at the moment, world number two, and the Iranian is world

:49:20.:49:22.

number four. Here we go. It's the gold medal

:49:23.:49:32.

match again in the 74kg class. Aniuar Geduev of Russia in the red

:49:33.:49:36.

and Hassan Yazdani of Iran. Oh, he could be setting him up here.

:49:37.:49:56.

It is a two-point take-down right at the end of this first period. The

:49:57.:50:04.

Russian doing superbly well. They go to the end of it and it's the

:50:05.:50:13.

Russian who has done superbly well. Six points now. That's quite a lot

:50:14.:50:18.

he has to do in this second period to get back into the contest.

:50:19.:50:28.

Yazdaniias was dominant in his previous -- Hassan Yazdani was

:50:29.:50:32.

dominant in his previous matches. His wrestling is not showroom

:50:33.:50:36.

condition so far in this gold medal match.

:50:37.:50:42.

Last three minutes, climax to the men's 74kg class here at the

:50:43.:50:47.

freestyle wrestling at Rio 2016 and it's a commander lead at the moment

:50:48.:50:51.

to Aniuar Geduev of Russia in the red.

:50:52.:51:02.

No the Iranian with a two-point take-down. It was nicely done. He's

:51:03.:51:11.

immensely powerful and strong. Stalemate has been called by the

:51:12.:51:16.

referee and we're going back to have that wound addressed once more. It's

:51:17.:51:20.

absolutely vital to get back to a four-point deficit so quickly after

:51:21.:51:34.

the resumption. Well, we're seeing some activity

:51:35.:51:59.

here the officials. I guess the Iranians are perhaps trying to argue

:52:00.:52:03.

here that this is happening too often and he should be defaulted out

:52:04.:52:07.

of the gold medal match due to injury.

:52:08.:52:17.

It's a bit hard to pick up what they're saying all the crowd noise.

:52:18.:52:26.

An awfully long time here as the medical officials... Try and get the

:52:27.:52:29.

Russian stitched up. They've done a pretty good job you'd

:52:30.:52:35.

have to say. Just one of those really annoying

:52:36.:52:39.

wounds over that eye. So we're back into it now. Yazdani trying to come

:52:40.:52:50.

back from a six-point deficit. He's on his way back. It's down to two!

:52:51.:52:58.

Could be more here! Geduev has done well. Could be more

:52:59.:53:09.

points, though, for the Iranian. All he needs to do is turn him. Oh,

:53:10.:53:17.

the Russian's done well to stay in that position.

:53:18.:53:27.

Could this be a key moment for the match? The Russian survives!

:53:28.:53:42.

One minute and 30 seconds remaining and it is really game on now for the

:53:43.:53:49.

gold medal. Yazdani is coming back into this gold medal match superbly.

:53:50.:54:12.

The referee wants some action. No passivity warning for either

:54:13.:54:16.

wrestler as we go get close to the last gold medal minute of this

:54:17.:54:21.

match. Just going on here. It's very, very

:54:22.:54:35.

even. I kind of get the feeling we could

:54:36.:54:40.

be in for a grand-stand finish. No score there.

:54:41.:54:49.

Anxious times for both parties here. 30 seconds remaining and we're going

:54:50.:54:53.

to have a challenge from the Russian camp.

:54:54.:54:57.

The Russian coaching staff believe they've got two points during this

:54:58.:55:02.

exchange. Last ten seconds! It's a two-point

:55:03.:55:14.

score for the Iranian! Three seconds to go, the clock stops! Now, the

:55:15.:55:19.

challenge will go back to that earlier incident. The referee just

:55:20.:55:26.

wanting to see if there will be a challenge. No. He's not allowed a

:55:27.:55:30.

challenge so what this means now is the Iranian has got the gold medal

:55:31.:55:34.

because he's the last wrestler to score and he's got it! Can you

:55:35.:55:48.

believe that? What a comeback! He was 6-0 down, Yazdani, and he's come

:55:49.:55:54.

back and won the gold medal. Well, that gold medal match had

:55:55.:55:58.

absolutely everything and there still may be more to come.

:55:59.:56:06.

The Russian coach - oh, he's been given a yellow card by the officials

:56:07.:56:20.

on the sideline! You had your opportunity. That's it.

:56:21.:56:29.

Go. Please. Well, my word... What scenes we've

:56:30.:56:43.

got here. Lots of emotion and drama. Controversy, a comeback-and-a-half.

:56:44.:56:50.

And an annoying injury to one of these competitors. Just had

:56:51.:56:58.

everything, that one, didn't it. There's your winner, your gold

:56:59.:57:02.

medallist, Hassan Yazdani of Iran. He's got it on the countback by

:57:03.:57:08.

virtue of being the last wrestler to score. So a six-all scoreline but

:57:09.:57:17.

the Iranian gets it on the countback. It's the sixth gold medal

:57:18.:57:26.

that Iran have won in freestyle wrestling in Olympic history. You'd

:57:27.:57:30.

be hard-pressed to find one more dramatic than that.

:57:31.:57:35.

What an incredible tussle. Well done to Hassan Yazdani, who won a silver

:57:36.:57:39.

medal in Las Vegas in last year's World Championships and now he has

:57:40.:57:43.

an Olympic gold medal. OK. It's been another incredible day at the Rio

:57:44.:57:48.

Olympic Games. Let's bring you all of tonight's headlines.

:57:49.:57:56.

Usain Bolt did it again. Victory in the 4 x 100m relay, the

:57:57.:58:01.

all-conquering Jamaican completing the triple-triple, leaving the

:58:02.:58:07.

Olympic stage for the final time with nine golds to his name.

:58:08.:58:12.

Historic gold for the GB hockey women, their first ever, beating the

:58:13.:58:17.

Netherlands after coming out on top in a thrilling penalty shoot-out.

:58:18.:58:33.

58-year-old Nicks kerks, elton has won Britain's first ever individual

:58:34.:58:37.

gold show jumping medal - Skelton. He kept his nerve in a jump-off to

:58:38.:58:43.

ensure his seventh Olympic appearance was one to savour.

:58:44.:58:50.

Not owl joyous celebrations today, however. Mohammed losing his match

:58:51.:58:58.

in the last second to his competitor from the Ivory Coast. He to settle

:58:59.:59:05.

from silver. Better news, though, for GB superheavyweight boxer Joe

:59:06.:59:09.

Joyce. A semifinal win today means he has a shot at gold on Sunday.

:59:10.:59:23.

There's a little bit of Robbie Keane going on there. Tom Bailey looks a

:59:24.:59:29.

good bet for a second medal in Rio. He scored an inpressive personal

:59:30.:59:33.

best to top the pile in tonight's ten metres platform preliminaries

:59:34.:59:40.

and will go for gold on Saturday. Four years ago, the GB 4 x 100m

:59:41.:59:46.

relay women failed to qualify for the London Olympic Games. Tonight,

:59:47.:59:50.

they are celebrating a bronze medal in Brazil. Congratulations to them.

:59:51.:00:00.

So, let's take a look at the medal table.

:00:01.:00:06.

Two gold medals ahead of China, 22 in fact won today. Golds for Great

:00:07.:00:11.

Britain women in hockey and Nick Skelton in the individual show

:00:12.:00:13.

jumping. Silver for Mohammed in the tae kwon

:00:14.:00:18.

do and there could be more gold medals to come. Doesn't that look

:00:19.:00:22.

absolutely marvellous? So, another golden day, then, for Great Britain,

:00:23.:00:26.

for the women's hockey team absolutely magnificent, showing

:00:27.:00:29.

plenty of Dutch courage to see off the Netherlands. As for that man,

:00:30.:00:33.

Usain Bolt, on cloud nine once again, after completing the

:00:34.:00:37.

triple-triple. From all of us here, about, ye for now.

:00:38.:00:40.

-- bye for now.

:00:41.:00:44.
