Come on Andy! Come on, Andy! When you've got a guy like that, you

:00:28.:00:38.

follow. Good evening. That familiar cry is ringing out around Centre

:00:39.:00:42.

Court right now, as Andy Murray is locked in battle in a quarterfinal

:00:43.:00:48.

match against a two-time Wimbledon semifinalist, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

:00:49.:00:51.

Murray came through a tense tie-break 12-10 in the first set. He

:00:52.:00:57.

raced through the second set 6-1. He is in trouble in the third, the

:00:58.:01:06.

Frenchman up a break. Let's join our commentators, John McEnroe, Lleyton

:01:07.:01:10.

Hewitt and Andrew Castle. COMMENTATOR: Oh! That is an real --

:01:11.:01:19.

unreal! We saw a bit of that in the first set. Yet another body blow for

:01:20.:01:25.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. You wonder what he's got left. Brutal first point.

:01:26.:01:32.

He is a break up. UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga is challenging the

:01:33.:01:54.

call. He wants to slow things down, challenge this call. It was in!

:01:55.:02:03.

That is one of those ones where you know the technology is right and you

:02:04.:02:17.

just have to accept the tolerances of the technology at work. To the

:02:18.:02:21.

naked eye, that looked about a foot out. Andy Murray was checking the

:02:22.:02:25.

ball there, to see if there was any little bit of chalk on it.

:02:26.:02:43.

Which serve were you looking at that looked a foot in? Wishful thinking!

:02:44.:03:07.

And the Frenchman is one game away from taking this third set. We are

:03:08.:03:54.

staying with the tennis here on BBC One right through to its conclusion.

:03:55.:04:01.

If you're at tuning into The One Show, that is now being shown on BBC

:04:02.:04:07.

Two. The One Show is now on BBC Two. COMMENTATOR: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga,

:04:08.:04:16.

Newcomer of the year in 2007 and Player of the Year in 2008. He beat

:04:17.:04:26.

Richard Gasquet and Rafael Nadal, he lost to Djokovic in the file but he

:04:27.:04:33.

was top 20 after that. Andy Murray here, first number two in the world

:04:34.:04:38.

in 2009 after he made his semifinal at Wimbledon. He's been up there,

:04:39.:04:45.

now ahead of Rafael Nadal, who is injured, Roger Federer who is not

:04:46.:04:52.

playing as many tournaments any more, but Novak Djokovic the big

:04:53.:04:56.

story of the tournament and his ousting by Sam Querrey on Court

:04:57.:05:01.

Number One. Imagine what Murray thought about that, despite the

:05:02.:05:07.

public mutterings. He was up rather easily and he sort of lost his edge

:05:08.:05:14.

completely and all of a sudden felt the wind on his shoulders but

:05:15.:05:15.

rallied to eventually win that set. APPLAUSE

:05:16.:05:41.

Tsonga is now playing well. It's amazing how clean he's hitting the

:05:42.:05:45.

ball again. Throughout that second set he was struggling to find the

:05:46.:05:47.

strings for a while. This match illustrates how difficult

:05:48.:06:17.

it is to physically train effectively for tennis. You have to

:06:18.:06:23.

be a real all-rounder. Football, you've got 90 minutes, maybe 30

:06:24.:06:25.

extra. Two hours and 17 minutes, and Tsonga

:06:26.:06:45.

getting a second or a third wind here. This would be an added bonus,

:06:46.:06:51.

if he were able to break and then start serving the fourth set, get a

:06:52.:06:53.

lead again. He could taste a couple of set

:06:54.:07:09.

points, there. He has turned that stat round,

:07:10.:07:30.

hasn't he, Tsonga? Getting the ball back in play.

:07:31.:07:46.

Murray is the one who looks to be stuck in third gear at the moment.

:07:47.:08:17.

APPLAUSE A couple of good first serves. Given

:08:18.:08:46.

himself game point and the opportunity to have another shot at

:08:47.:08:51.

the Tsonga serve. He may be feeling a bit of pressure trying to close

:08:52.:08:52.

out this set. APPLAUSE

:08:53.:09:17.

That is a stronghold of serve from a set point down. Remember, he hasn't

:09:18.:09:21.

lost a set come Andy Murray, during these championships. But that was

:09:22.:09:22.

close! STUDIO

:09:23.:09:32.

Tsonga serving for the third set. Just to remind you that if you are

:09:33.:09:36.

tuning in and expecting The One Show, that is now over on BBC Two.

:09:37.:09:40.

Here on BBC One, we are staying with the tennis.

:09:41.:09:46.

Oh! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:09:47.:10:25.

It's one thing getting their, but then to control the ball and land it

:10:26.:10:34.

in, beautifully done. Tsonga's drop shot was very well disguised. Just

:10:35.:10:38.

where he wanted to hit it. APPLAUSE

:10:39.:11:26.

Impressive serving game. He has made all four first serves, three of them

:11:27.:11:33.

well over 130 mph. 136 to start the game. That one, 130 seven. Set

:11:34.:11:36.

points. 141 mph, but it is of this outfield

:11:37.:11:42.

stewed station. He's pretty fired up, Tsonga. He is

:11:43.:11:48.

bringing the heat on everything. Really well done by Jo-Wilfried

:11:49.:12:29.

Tsonga. He's not out of this match yet. He's come back from two sets

:12:30.:12:36.

down on four occasions. He would break a view British hearts if he

:12:37.:12:39.

did it tonight. A long way to go, but that is the first set done.

:12:40.:12:46.

That's a great effort. It's a great effort. You could see him sizing

:12:47.:12:51.

things up. He let his intensity and concentration slip early in the

:12:52.:12:58.

second. You could see him gather himself so he could get off to a

:12:59.:13:03.

lead in the third and that he did. He's playing the type of tennis that

:13:04.:13:09.

makes you hark back to that match against Federer, because Federer did

:13:10.:13:13.

it today in two sets down, coming back. Tsonga did it to Federer that

:13:14.:13:19.

time. Now the first 15 minutes of this fourth set is absolutely

:13:20.:13:24.

crucial, Leighton. It's going to be, but the big thing is Andy serving

:13:25.:13:32.

first. Hopefully he can hold serve and then try to build some pressure

:13:33.:13:36.

on the Tsonga serve again. For me, Tsonga is trying to be a lot more

:13:37.:13:40.

proactive in the second serve return. That is making a massive

:13:41.:13:44.

difference because it is getting into Andy's head a little as well,

:13:45.:13:50.

putting him on the back foot. You feel Andy's desperation to get this

:13:51.:13:57.

job done. He knew he had an opportunity, Jo down but not out

:13:58.:14:04.

early in that first service game of the third set but he didn't

:14:05.:14:07.

capitalise, and all of a sudden he is expressing much more negative

:14:08.:14:09.

frustration. By 13 minutes, Andy Murray's longest

:14:10.:14:28.

match of The Championships so far. The first set he has lost. On a nine

:14:29.:14:39.

match winning streak with Queen's club and four matches here to get to

:14:40.:14:42.

this position. No need to panic, he is still two sets to one up.

:14:43.:15:59.

That is good positive body energy out here by Murray to start this

:16:00.:16:06.

fourth service game -- fourth set. It's what he needed to block out the

:16:07.:16:07.

end of that set. Tsonga has kept the ball to a

:16:08.:16:35.

difficult length to marry today. -- to marry today. Within a foot or two

:16:36.:16:44.

of the baseline after serving. Slightly uneven back there, it's one

:16:45.:16:48.

of the vagaries of playing on a grass court, into the second week of

:16:49.:16:56.

the Championships. Like a spin bowler on the fourth day of a Test

:16:57.:16:59.

match, just throwing it into the footmarks.

:17:00.:17:09.

His forehand, these exchanges are suiting Tsonga. He's really starting

:17:10.:17:20.

to put something on that forehand, make a serious impact in the head of

:17:21.:17:23.

Murray. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga went over there,

:17:24.:18:01.

and I hope he's all right. Yeah, he's OK. He didn't even know Andy

:18:02.:18:07.

checked on him and he now appreciates it!

:18:08.:18:12.

Fergus Murphy saying something, there.

:18:13.:18:21.

Another few loose forehand errors. Pulling back out of this one.

:18:22.:19:30.

he's hitting it hard enough to break it!

:19:31.:20:07.

And hour and ten minutes ago, he looked absolutely down and out. Two

:20:08.:21:03.

sets down. Haps an hour ago, even. Getting fired up, these two! A bit

:21:04.:21:31.

of tension between the two, as well. Keeping the crowd involved, Murray.

:21:32.:21:58.

His team know how important this game is, not to go down an early

:21:59.:22:14.

break here in the fourth set. That was a strong effort, really, by

:22:15.:22:40.

both guys. Tsonga really upping the pressure. That was well played. He

:22:41.:22:52.

knows a thing or two about survival, Bear Grylls on the left-hand side. I

:22:53.:22:59.

think he's on a stadium tour around now, going down a zip line through a

:23:00.:23:07.

ring of fire, breaking windows. They should have told him just go through

:23:08.:23:12.

the front door! His wife, there, thinks he ought to stop it! You've

:23:13.:23:19.

proved yourself enough! This is nice, the crowd enjoying this.

:23:20.:23:24.

She has worn her hands out, loving it so much.

:23:25.:23:34.

Something about his serve too, Murray has not had a lot of clean

:23:35.:23:55.

looks at returns especially in this third set.

:23:56.:24:22.

He is serving so much better again. He has found the big pace serve on

:24:23.:24:30.

the first serve and he is hit his spots extremely well with the

:24:31.:24:41.

slider. Down the T on the first serve. Setting it up for the

:24:42.:24:43.

forehand. He keeps hitting the ground with his

:24:44.:26:45.

racket. Fergus Murphy, in the umpire's check is having a good look

:26:46.:26:49.

at that. Enunwa players have been fined for this, even though they hit

:26:50.:26:53.

the ground outside the playing area. He is finding himself that far

:26:54.:26:59.

behind the baseline, he is being pushed back by Tsonga.

:27:00.:27:04.

It's the brute power from Tsonga but also the forehand crosscourt from

:27:05.:27:20.

Tsonga into the Murray forehand which is causing some serious

:27:21.:27:21.

issues. Him on the left. Shane on the right,

:27:22.:27:24.

physiotherapist. -- Kim. This is what we anticipated earlier

:27:25.:28:19.

in the match. How he is hitting it now, that is for sure. His

:28:20.:28:22.

confidence level is much higher than it was when we started.

:28:23.:28:32.

They have got their money 's worth today, that is for sure! His dad

:28:33.:29:23.

Willie Murray there. The man at the back

:29:24.:29:35.

takes care of some of his business affairs, a former player from Italy.

:29:36.:29:42.

Leon Smith there as well. These days you can't just have a coach or

:29:43.:29:46.

actually go it alone at all, can you? You need a thousand people with

:29:47.:29:52.

you! I do know about a thousand! But a lot of it is about taking away

:29:53.:29:56.

stresses, so these guys can go out then focus on they need to do. Novak

:29:57.:30:00.

has had it in place and Roger Federer has done it for so many

:30:01.:30:04.

years now. He just has do go out there and let his racket do the

:30:05.:30:11.

talking. You think you might be stressed, with that many people

:30:12.:30:12.

around. You have to delegate well. Andy looking at some of his notes in

:30:13.:30:28.

his bag at the change events. No doubt if and then the would be a big

:30:29.:30:34.

business expense but certainly an asset as well. -- no doubt Ivan

:30:35.:30:39.

Lendl would be a big business expense. This is the first moment

:30:40.:30:45.

where Murray has had real stress. It's been pretty plain sailing. I

:30:46.:30:52.

know Raonic in the final at Queen's, but this is Wimbledon, with respect

:30:53.:30:55.

to that wonderful tournament. This is the quarterfinal of Wimbledon.

:30:56.:31:01.

Murray thought he had this won but he certainly has not, yet.

:31:02.:31:04.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's nickname is Ali for obvious reasons. Perhaps he was

:31:05.:31:22.

doing the Roper dope for the first couple of sets.

:31:23.:31:29.

Stay down, he says. That has been the issue with the forehand.

:31:30.:32:18.

UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga challenging. Perfect serve.

:32:19.:32:38.

Another one he thinks might be flat... The temperature dipping. Can

:32:39.:32:46.

feel that way. Serving beautifully. Worst feeling as a player, struggled

:32:47.:33:13.

to hold, then your opponent hits bombs, hands you back the balls.

:33:14.:33:46.

Serious sprints there by Tsonga. One hander again. Trying to take Andy's

:33:47.:33:57.

head off! Concentration not good at the

:33:58.:36:00.

moment. Looked like he was going to have an easy hold. Loose points.

:36:01.:36:18.

Knuckle down, close the game out. Mr Murray challenging the call. That's

:36:19.:36:25.

good. Been at it, two hours 47 minutes.

:36:26.:36:54.

What do players do when they're waiting for a five setter? They

:36:55.:37:01.

would have gone through, taping of ankles, toes, all that preparation,

:37:02.:37:09.

possibly worsening to some music, sitting with coaches, going through

:37:10.:37:19.

the game plan, because that last March, got so close, even going

:37:20.:37:24.

through the warm up, wasting some energy. Some people talk, others

:37:25.:37:34.

want silence? Respect others? Obviously, everybody is different.

:37:35.:37:41.

You want to eat. Two, three, four hours before. Something enough. All

:37:42.:37:53.

of a sudden, stressed out. And you have got all these things, going

:37:54.:38:01.

through your mind. The locker room down there now, empty. Not a lot of

:38:02.:38:12.

people around. Just these guys, the guys on Court One as well. Had to

:38:13.:38:23.

wait. But a great show here. Deep in the fourth set. New balls.

:38:24.:39:19.

Keep it together mentally. But you get these lulls... This is a tricky

:39:20.:39:30.

moment for him. Again. That is the shot that brought

:39:31.:39:50.

GB the Davis Cup last year! The memorable lob over Goffin! This

:39:51.:39:57.

brings break points at a crucial time.

:39:58.:40:20.

Gutsy play. Second serve, serve-volley. First time in the

:40:21.:40:38.

match. 39th second serve! Three break points down!

:40:39.:40:59.

There it is! Break of serve. Know Murray, two games away. But it is

:41:00.:41:21.

not going to be easy. So much for new balls helping the server!

:41:22.:41:51.

Let's see how Jo responds. Handed that last game to Andy. Three cheap

:41:52.:41:59.

errors. And the great lob from Andy. He needed that. It looked bleak.

:42:00.:42:31.

Still is. But hope now. Challenge? Absolutely rifled past

:42:32.:43:20.

Tsonga but... Out. Second serve! What a change up,

:43:21.:45:17.

under pressure. Third break point down. Tsonga looking to run around.

:45:18.:45:32.

Went to the forehand side. He wasn't ready. That's backing yourself under

:45:33.:45:33.

pressure. Fabulous! Fantastic. What a backhand

:45:34.:46:15.

slice! From deep! That angle! Right here! Just exactly where he wanted

:46:16.:46:21.

it. Extraordinary physical power! But

:46:22.:47:45.

what a response! Beautiful response from deuce. When he hits, it stays

:47:46.:47:54.

hit! Hits as hard as anyone. Boy, did he need that. Flat inside out,

:47:55.:48:03.

you could see how much that ran from Murray. We thought he would fold, a

:48:04.:48:18.

break down. After that gutsy serve from Murray, you thought he might

:48:19.:48:24.

have had enough. Not a bit. Impressive. Approaching eight

:48:25.:48:37.

o'clock. The temperature goes down. How do the conditions change? It

:48:38.:48:44.

starts to get heavier, air thicker, cooler. Favours muscly players?

:48:45.:48:55.

Absolutely. Hit through the elements? Tailor made for Tsonga.

:48:56.:49:04.

Powerful hitters. Look like unforced errors but no

:49:05.:49:43.

such thing at this point. The pace, sheer power behind the Tsonga ground

:49:44.:49:51.

strokes, tough to handle on the racket. Especially on grass.

:49:52.:50:06.

Skidding through. Not always true bounce. Murray, trying to absorb

:50:07.:50:13.

that. Saw that forehand wasn't struck

:50:14.:51:24.

cleanly. Frame, slightly. Ripped it to shreds.

:51:25.:52:02.

Not enough on that return either. Cost him.

:52:03.:53:10.

Wasn't a great return but difference was got it to the backhand. Not

:53:11.:53:14.

nearly as dangerous. UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga challenging the

:53:15.:53:41.

call. If he's missed this... What happens? After? First serve.

:53:42.:54:00.

Nonsense! Making the point most players know the return wasn't

:54:01.:54:08.

affected. But them's the rules! Don't believe it. We've seen that

:54:09.:54:29.

half a dozen times! First set tie break. Weaker side. Days when these

:54:30.:54:38.

don't work. Somehow finds a way back. Fifth set?

:54:39.:55:04.

Really tough shots. Angle right here. The depth Murray hit the

:55:05.:55:22.

passing shot from! Nearly the back edge of the baseline!

:55:23.:55:30.

Oh! It was there! So was Tsonga and that was a wide target! 131 mph

:55:31.:55:55.

first serve. Trying to cut off the angle. There for the taking. What a

:55:56.:55:59.

game. Most of the time, he goes

:56:00.:56:36.

cross-court. But held it. Look how low.

:56:37.:57:35.

Impossible to hear... What was he saying? He thought it was called

:57:36.:57:54.

in!? Fabulous pass. Let's do it again. Really upset, Murray.

:57:55.:58:11.

Naturally. Closing in on a Wimbledon semi. Trying to.

:58:12.:58:24.

Hats off. Tsonga nothing he likes more than an audience. Thrilled them

:58:25.:58:49.

here. Somewhat begrudingly! Keep keynote, massive back turned,

:58:50.:58:52.

amazing stretch. Big time as you're going to see from

:58:53.:59:07.

Tsonga. Chip and charge, come in, that would

:59:08.:00:06.

have been a good time. Backed off. On fire right now. Massive backhand

:00:07.:01:26.

passes on the full run. Andy had him stretching everywhere. Great angle.

:01:27.:03:07.

Made that! Really not a big target! Footwork from Tsonga you couldn't

:03:08.:03:24.

have imagined two hours ago! Exhausted! Look at the physicality.

:03:25.:03:33.

What a turnaround. Made another one! Absolute feature

:03:34.:04:01.

of this match! Break. Tsonga serves to take us to a fifth. What a

:04:02.:04:09.

turnaround. What a match. Going nowhere on BBC One. If you're tuning

:04:10.:04:19.

in for Celebrity Masterchef, that's BBC Two. Things hotting up here.

:04:20.:04:28.

Murray coming out to save the fourth set. Tsonga serving for 2-2.

:04:29.:04:43.

Tension, drama all the way. Nothing particularly, from Tsonga's form

:04:44.:04:55.

this year to think that he could go all the way. Back from two sets

:04:56.:04:59.

down. He has done that before, against Roger Federer. The coming --

:05:00.:05:13.

becoming a believer. And then, Djokovic. Came back from 2-0. Jo

:05:14.:05:29.

looks fresher than ever. Who needs football? Good luck, Wales!

:05:30.:05:55.

On the left, Jo's partner. Of two years. Swiss.

:05:56.:06:27.

All working now for the Frenchman. Hold on, he wants to challenge. Not

:06:28.:06:51.

going to have this. Listen in. Body language. Nothing. You get us to

:06:52.:07:03.

challenge instantly! You have to do it immediately!

:07:04.:07:15.

We heard that before. The first to enforce it? Won't matter too much to

:07:16.:07:24.

Murray but it was in. That's the strength, to come back

:07:25.:07:44.

after an argument with the umpire and win a point like that, it's a

:07:45.:07:50.

message to your opponent, still in this game.

:07:51.:08:40.

This is amazing, it looked all but over. Heading to the fifth set.

:08:41.:09:20.

We are going the distance on Centre Court at Wimbledon. 8:07pm, is the

:09:21.:09:32.

time. We have time for it. Three hours plus so far. A one set shoot

:09:33.:09:39.

out, Murray against Tsonga for a place in the semifinal.

:09:40.:09:55.

Just couldn't have seen this as the likely outcome. The good news for

:09:56.:10:05.

Andy Murray, if there is any at the moment, Lleyton Hewitt, and I don't

:10:06.:10:08.

think records matter that much, but just for the record, a five match

:10:09.:10:14.

winning streak, a five set, five match winning streak for Andy

:10:15.:10:18.

Murray. Tsonga has come back from two sets town on a number of

:10:19.:10:27.

occasions. Were you aware of the fact Marin Cilic had never lost a

:10:28.:10:34.

match in a Grand Slam from 2-0 up? What are you saying about records?

:10:35.:10:40.

For Andy now, it's about recovering after being up a break in the fourth

:10:41.:10:47.

set and not closing it out. What decides the fifth set now, Lleyton?

:10:48.:10:55.

Obviously Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wants to keep momentum on his side. He's

:10:56.:10:59.

been doing the right things and wants to attack as much as possible.

:11:00.:11:03.

You want to keep holding serve and wait for your opportunity. You might

:11:04.:11:09.

only get one chance in this set are specially on a grass court. John

:11:10.:11:14.

McEnroe, if you are coaching, what would you say? In this position,

:11:15.:11:19.

it's virtually impossible to cope someone. He was playing so well. He

:11:20.:11:24.

has been around the block for a long time. Probably fortunate that for

:11:25.:11:31.

him at least, he gets to start off, get the lead again and build on

:11:32.:11:33.

that, as he did in the fourth set. STUDIO: What drama we are seen on

:11:34.:11:45.

Centre Court at the moment, and we will stay with it on BBC One.

:11:46.:11:50.

Everybody enjoying the drama at Wimbledon, on the court and on

:11:51.:11:59.

Henman Hill. If you are tuning in for Celebrity Masterchef, it's over

:12:00.:12:08.

on BBC Two. We are staying with Andy Murray, fighting for a place in the

:12:09.:12:19.

final four. COMMENTATOR: Slight advantage to Andy Murray, serving

:12:20.:12:22.

first. Hasn't lost to a player outside the top ten this year. In

:12:23.:12:32.

fact, since the US Open last year when he lost to Kevin Anderson.

:12:33.:12:34.

Doesn't want to start here on home turf.

:12:35.:13:17.

Worked hard, thick, fitter than this guy. Forced to pull out of Roland

:13:18.:13:22.

Garros, how fit can he possibly be? Has to fire himself up after bitter

:13:23.:13:40.

disappointment. He will also try to tell himself, some of those body

:13:41.:13:44.

blows and long points against Tsonga in the second and third sets, maybe

:13:45.:13:48.

that can turn things around in his favour if it goes deep into the

:13:49.:13:50.

fifth. You wouldn't know it by the way

:13:51.:14:22.

Tsonga is moving right now. You would think at this stage, I

:14:23.:15:00.

would start work in the backhand a little bit. Yeah, this is a mental

:15:01.:15:02.

battle now. UMPIRE: Mr Murray challenging the

:15:03.:15:21.

call. Ball was called out. UMPIRE: Mr Murray has two challenges

:15:22.:15:32.

remaining. Curls that round the corner. Curved

:15:33.:17:07.

into the side. Looked as good as the ones he has been hitting on the

:17:08.:17:09.

backhand. Absolutely amazing day here on

:17:10.:18:42.

Centre Court. Good game to win! That's true also. Mentioning Andy

:18:43.:18:49.

Murray's five match, five set winning streak. He knows how to play

:18:50.:18:53.

when everything is on the line. Tsonga, he has won all six of his

:18:54.:19:02.

five set matches here at Wimbledon. How big will that game be? Tsonga,

:19:03.:19:13.

half slipping and putting him out of position for the backhand. Keeping

:19:14.:19:16.

his nose in front in the fifth. Two tremendous athletes just going

:19:17.:19:49.

at it big time here. Admirably, Tsonga is ready to serve

:19:50.:20:19.

within the allotted time. Definitely trying to get some air in the lungs.

:20:20.:20:25.

This is one of those times to go for an ace.

:20:26.:20:31.

What a response. The big forehand again.

:20:32.:20:47.

Two "Come ons" in the last four points.

:20:48.:22:23.

What a great round, the return of serve. Then the backhand down the

:22:24.:22:35.

line. Ivan Lendl will love that. He had the courage here to take on the

:22:36.:22:40.

other forehand. He leaned into the backhand so well down the line. If

:22:41.:22:44.

he hadn't hit perfect, Tsonga would have been there with the open

:22:45.:22:45.

cross-court forehand. And that's the break! What a return!

:22:46.:23:16.

Just bounding around the place. Who would have thought, three and a half

:23:17.:23:24.

hours in? One of the best returns you will ever see.

:23:25.:23:32.

I love how fired up he's getting. I know I do.

:23:33.:23:48.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga doesn't have too many shots left in him. The last

:23:49.:24:36.

time Murray broke, he went up in the third set. Has been broken twice

:24:37.:24:39.

back again. UMPIRE: Mr Murray challenging the

:24:40.:25:04.

call. Ball was called out. Since the first set he looks like he's been

:25:05.:25:10.

running uphill, battling back, fighting, and he will have to do it

:25:11.:25:12.

again. Mr Murray has one challenge

:25:13.:25:44.

remaining. Quite early in the set to just have one challenge remaining.

:25:45.:25:49.

We will see if that becomes a factor.

:25:50.:26:22.

He knows how important this would be. First break point of the fifth

:26:23.:26:29.

set, able to play some of his best tennis to break, and now to

:26:30.:26:30.

consolidate. This wonderful French player, he

:26:31.:27:00.

will not go away. You see Murray off the court, it's not an easy cover.

:27:01.:27:40.

Once again, the battles in this set have been won by Murray. So much

:27:41.:27:49.

dust and chalk there, almost choked Murray before he hit his forehand.

:27:50.:27:54.

He has found his forehand again here. Was able to put Tsonga on the

:27:55.:28:00.

back foot. Are we having fun yet? I'm having

:28:01.:28:30.

fun. Have we ever seen Murray this consistently fired up in a match?

:28:31.:28:35.

This is pretty amazing. It's ever since Ivan Lendl... I know we go on

:28:36.:28:39.

about coaches and everything else, but as soon as Lendl showed up,

:28:40.:28:50.

Murray has called him the best coach, and from the first match

:28:51.:28:57.

against Mahut, the Frenchman at Queen's Club, he has been much more

:28:58.:29:01.

positive. We have questioned him in the past, that he can get negative

:29:02.:29:06.

on himself. The Davis Cup matches against Simon last year, against

:29:07.:29:13.

Nishikori, five sets. He's having a good time in his life. Laid-back,

:29:14.:29:20.

happy, playing great. This could be the start of something big,

:29:21.:29:28.

consistent. Anyone listening who doesn't do that, we encourage this.

:29:29.:29:36.

Thanks to this guy, who has brought out the best in Andy Murray, he has

:29:37.:29:39.

played extremely well and fought hard. Somehow, he's got to find

:29:40.:29:50.

another gear. Well, here's an opportunity, this game right here,

:29:51.:29:55.

for Andy Murray to put a stop to all this. A second break would knock the

:29:56.:29:58.

stuffing out of the Frenchman. Becoming more and more aggressive

:29:59.:31:25.

off the turn. UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga is challenging the

:31:26.:32:54.

call. The ball was called out. Who knows was out. -- who knows if

:32:55.:33:15.

it was out. He certainly does not want to go down a double break.

:33:16.:33:22.

UMPIRE: Mr Tsonga has two challenges remaining.

:33:23.:34:03.

After what happened in the second set, he let it slip. Up two breaks

:34:04.:34:09.

of serve, but no margin now. We're going to have to sack reverse.

:34:10.:34:34.

-- Rufus. Actually, don't tell Rufus, he will get cross.

:34:35.:35:00.

Flattening out that backhands, driving it into the corner. He is

:35:01.:35:14.

back in the so well in this fifth set. Great depth on that approach

:35:15.:35:22.

shot. You could certainly call this a match point.

:35:23.:35:32.

Up two breaks. A victory for willpower. UMPIRE: New balls,

:35:33.:35:49.

please. Thinking back to that first game, Lleyton. The first game was

:35:50.:35:55.

all about the missed opportunities in the first set. 6-5 up in that

:35:56.:36:04.

first set, serving. -- first tie-break, serving. He did not look

:36:05.:36:08.

like that when he first turned up here. A little boy who lost to

:36:09.:36:15.

number on the on this court. -- Nalbandian.

:36:16.:37:12.

Beautifully done. Shutting Tsonga down here. Just coming around the

:37:13.:37:38.

edge. Wonderful feel. First serve's -- UMPIRE: Lead, first serve.

:37:39.:38:11.

Make your opponents play one more ball. Even Lendl looks more relaxed

:38:12.:38:15.

now. A raised arm, even though he has not

:38:16.:38:34.

got the job done. That is not disrespectful to his opponent. Just

:38:35.:38:41.

signifies the effort in this set that has taken him to 5-0. Just gone

:38:42.:38:51.

25 to nine in the evening and outside, 50,000 people have not

:38:52.:38:55.

moved. Very few have gone home and that is not surprising. Loyal tennis

:38:56.:39:04.

fans. And I saw some people they are running this morning, when it opened

:39:05.:39:11.

at 10:30am. Those people by the water, down to lean back. You asked

:39:12.:39:20.

before the fifth set, if you were in a position to give Murray a couple

:39:21.:39:23.

of words of advice, just think about what he did. He came out with some

:39:24.:39:29.

really intense positive energy, he used the crowd, he fired himself up.

:39:30.:39:45.

He reached a crescendo. Like a work of art. Exactly.

:39:46.:40:29.

I have been impressed with the drop shot all day by both guys. Both guys

:40:30.:40:37.

lightening quick, especially moving forward. And they have played this

:40:38.:40:39.

one to perfection. Showing a little bit of fatigue

:40:40.:41:58.

himself, Lendl, at the end of the fifth set. Watching Murray search

:41:59.:42:01.

for a place in the semifinals. Up unfortunately given in. --

:42:02.:42:54.

unfortunately given in. Almost four hours. On his way, again, to a semi.

:42:55.:43:34.

UMPIRE: Game, set and match, Andy Murray. Another triumph on Centre

:43:35.:43:44.

Court for Andy Murray, a five set marathon. True respect between two

:43:45.:43:50.

great competitors. 8:42pm, nearly four hours of tennis. 6-1 in the

:43:51.:43:57.

fifth, a seventh semifinal at Wimbledon for Andy Murray. The

:43:58.:44:03.

favourites to win the championship this year. For most.

:44:04.:44:22.

Murray has played better than anyone else in this event. A great round of

:44:23.:44:29.

applause for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Deservedly so.

:44:30.:44:39.

He made Andy Murray come up with his best tennis out here. He had chances

:44:40.:44:48.

even early in the fifth set. Break point in the first game of the fifth

:44:49.:44:53.

set. You could look back, but that is perhaps for another time. Great

:44:54.:44:54.

entertainment. Tsonga had not lost a five set match

:44:55.:45:08.

at Wimbledon. Six in a row, but not this time. Murray has now won his

:45:09.:45:17.

last 65 set matches. That is the competitive spirit. And no Tomas

:45:18.:45:24.

Berdych lies ahead for him. And he has not lost on him since 2013. That

:45:25.:45:32.

is a pretty good effort for Jo to hang around and do all these sorts

:45:33.:45:35.

of things because that was a big match. A 20th Grand Slams semifinal,

:45:36.:45:45.

five years worth. His seventh time at Wimbledon and only once has he

:45:46.:45:49.

gone on, of course, to triumph at the biggest tournament of the world.

:45:50.:46:00.

That was in 2013. No Novak Djokavic but Roger Federer survived today.

:46:01.:46:04.

Will that be Sunday's final? Lot of work to be done. Two semifinals

:46:05.:46:09.

before we see that repeat of the 2012 final. And the Olympic final,

:46:10.:46:16.

as well, on this very court. 6-1 in the fifth. We need to get the view

:46:17.:46:24.

from Andy Murray. Almost four hours of tennis, through to your seventh

:46:25.:46:28.

Wimbledon semifinal. How are the emotions after that battle?

:46:29.:46:32.

Obviously it was a tough match. At the end of the fourth set, it was

:46:33.:46:37.

really tough, losing 4-2 after breaking and coming back from 0-40,

:46:38.:46:45.

to lose that set 6-4, it was hard. But I just tried to use all of my

:46:46.:46:50.

energy at the beginning of the fifth set to get myself up and try to get

:46:51.:46:53.

the crowd pumped up. It had been a long day for them with some long

:46:54.:46:59.

matches. Thankfully I got the break. You dominated the second set and on

:47:00.:47:04.

till today you have not dropped a set at Wimbledon. What happened in

:47:05.:47:08.

the third and fourth? Tsonga is a pretty good player. He is not bad.

:47:09.:47:13.

He is one of the best grass court players in the world. He came up

:47:14.:47:16.

with some great shots. Some unbelievable passing shots on the

:47:17.:47:20.

run, and big moments. He started better. He mixed it up well. Credit

:47:21.:47:27.

to him for fighting his way back into the match. He played extremely

:47:28.:47:33.

well after that first set. It was a tough one to lose, but he fought

:47:34.:47:38.

really hard, write to the end, and it was a great match. He has won all

:47:39.:47:44.

of his five setters here. How crucial was it to get that break in

:47:45.:47:52.

the fifth set? Crucial to break at some point. No tie-break in the

:47:53.:47:54.

fifth and so it has to happen at some point if you want to win.

:47:55.:47:57.

Hopefully I got it at the beginning of the fifth and I managed to get a

:47:58.:48:02.

second one which was big. It takes away a lot of the pressure at the

:48:03.:48:07.

end there. I know Wimbledon is so special to you, can you give us an

:48:08.:48:10.

insight into how the pressure increases the deeper you get into

:48:11.:48:16.

this? Any of the Slams, really, when you get to the final stages you want

:48:17.:48:20.

to play your best tennis and try to win the event. At the beginning, you

:48:21.:48:25.

were just trying to work your way through the early rounds and

:48:26.:48:28.

hopefully play some good tennis, and not use up too much energy, but now

:48:29.:48:33.

it is about just getting through the matches and ideally playing as well

:48:34.:48:36.

as possible. I am happy to be through to the semis and I hope to

:48:37.:48:41.

get some rest before the next one. Tomas Berdych next, you have a good

:48:42.:48:44.

record with him but you have not played on grass. How tough a

:48:45.:48:49.

semifinal opponent will he be for you? Very tough. He has been to the

:48:50.:48:53.

final here, he has beaten Djokovic and Federer and he is very good. He

:48:54.:48:59.

has won some tough matches here, a tough battle in the fourth round

:49:00.:49:05.

against Jiri Vesely, and he will be feeling comfortable on the court

:49:06.:49:08.

having played a lot of tennis. Centre Court has seen some

:49:09.:49:12.

incredible tennis today and you certainly contributed to that.

:49:13.:49:17.

Thanks, Andy. SUE BARKER: Memories of that match against Fernando

:49:18.:49:20.

Verdasco back in 2013 where he had to dig deep and come back to win it

:49:21.:49:25.

in five sets. He had to do the same today. It looks like he was booed at

:49:26.:49:29.

a two sets, but Tsonga is such a great fighter and he came back.

:49:30.:49:33.

Inspirational play from the Frenchman. Andy had to dig deep and

:49:34.:49:38.

find a way to win in that fifth and final set. The first few games,

:49:39.:49:43.

crucial for staying in front. We know that he is so strong physically

:49:44.:49:47.

but mentally he had to battle out on Centre Court. But what a day they

:49:48.:49:51.

have had here on the hallowed turf of Centre Court. Two outstanding

:49:52.:49:55.

matches, and Andy Murray is through to the last four. Well, they have a

:49:56.:50:04.

lot to talk about as they head home. So much wonderful tennis that they

:50:05.:50:08.

have enjoyed and we now know that the semifinals here at Wimbledon, in

:50:09.:50:14.

the top half of the draw, it is Milos Raonic, who came through in

:50:15.:50:18.

his match in four sets up against Roger Federer, who had to battle so

:50:19.:50:24.

hard, coming back from two sets to love down against Marin Cilic. And

:50:25.:50:28.

Tomas Berdych, taking an Andy Murray. We cannot leave without a

:50:29.:50:35.

little bit of further reaction from our commentators, Lleyton Hewitt,

:50:36.:50:43.

John McEnroe and Andrew Castle. How much did you enjoy watching that,

:50:44.:50:48.

Lleyton? It was amazing. To see at first hand, it was an awesome match.

:50:49.:50:52.

The momentum swung throughout. Andy had to dig deep to get out of the

:50:53.:50:58.

first set. He was found at it with an early break, and you thought it

:50:59.:51:05.

was on cruise control when he was two sets up. But to Tsonga's credit,

:51:06.:51:09.

he fought hard to put himself into that position and he had break point

:51:10.:51:13.

in the first game of the fifth. Andy Murray had to dig deep to pull

:51:14.:51:16.

through and he turned the momentum around in his favour. The quality of

:51:17.:51:20.

the tennis at times was just outstanding. The quality of the

:51:21.:51:27.

whole day has been amazing. Mary played some fantastic tennis. But my

:51:28.:51:32.

favourite part in the match was the energy he brought to the fifth set,

:51:33.:51:35.

a pumped up he was and how much he brought the crowd into it and

:51:36.:51:39.

expressed himself. I thought that was awesome and I would love to see

:51:40.:51:42.

him do it more in the future. I think he would be tougher to beat if

:51:43.:51:46.

he did it more and it would be better for tennis. I would recommend

:51:47.:51:50.

all players out there do that more often. It is wonderful. But he did

:51:51.:51:57.

have to fight is demons a little bit, didn't see? He was beginning to

:51:58.:52:03.

do what he has in the past, a little bit of negative self talk which has

:52:04.:52:06.

not produced the best tennis for him in the past. But it was about the

:52:07.:52:11.

tennis and the willpower. He was leaping up and down, broadcasting

:52:12.:52:16.

such positive messages, to the end of the court. Saying, you are not

:52:17.:52:21.

going to beat me, you are not. And I think this determination, based on

:52:22.:52:25.

the work that he has done, it is a fantastic example to people. I have

:52:26.:52:29.

said before, I think he is Britain's most eminent sports person at the

:52:30.:52:33.

moment and I stick with that. When he wins Wimbledon on Sunday, I will

:52:34.:52:40.

expect apologies. Don't get ahead of yourself, Mr Kassel. That fifth set

:52:41.:52:46.

at Wimbledon, how do you cope with it, when you have had chances and

:52:47.:52:52.

suddenly it is two sets all. What do you say to yourself? It is easier to

:52:53.:52:56.

say them to do. He had to block it out. He was serving first in the

:52:57.:53:00.

fifth set, and that was why that first game was so crucial, to keep

:53:01.:53:05.

in the lead. He had not been behind for the whole match as we did not

:53:06.:53:09.

want to let that happen. I think he handled it extremely well. He got

:53:10.:53:13.

the crowd involved and as soon as he got the opportunity to break serve,

:53:14.:53:19.

he bolted on home. And let's salute Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who played his

:53:20.:53:24.

part. Some inspirational tennis. Jo played great but unfortunately for

:53:25.:53:28.

him when he needed to, he got down that one break. He had a break point

:53:29.:53:31.

chance and you cannot let someone like Andy Murray get a second break.

:53:32.:53:36.

That was all she had wrote. That was where he slipped up and that is

:53:37.:53:39.

where it happened in the second set. To me, that is, when you look at

:53:40.:53:47.

Tsonga, he has the mental talent but he does not have the mental

:53:48.:53:52.

strength. And physically, you have to salute Murray, the amount of

:53:53.:53:55.

miles he was running out there, and still at full speed right at the

:53:56.:54:01.

end. Absolutely. He wants to turn all of the matches into that match

:54:02.:54:06.

because physically, there are not many players that can go the

:54:07.:54:08.

distance in five sets. It is a good wake-up call for him. He has cruised

:54:09.:54:12.

through the tournament so far, and he has had a tough one to survive.

:54:13.:54:17.

Only two more matches to go and he will be very focused on Tomas

:54:18.:54:20.

Berdych in the next round. He will be feeling really relieved now.

:54:21.:54:24.

There is only one person he does not want it to turn into a long five

:54:25.:54:28.

setter and that guy is not on the tournament. He is on holiday. We

:54:29.:54:34.

want to show a little bit of Roger Federer because that was a fantastic

:54:35.:54:39.

match. They sing match points against Marin Cilic, and here we are

at 5-4. Talk us through a little bit of this if you can see it on your

:54:47.:54:49.

monitor. How crucial was this part of the match? Well, that goes

:54:50.:54:57.

without saying. It was a tough serve from Federer, and you cannot ask for

:54:58.:55:03.

any more than that. But Marin Cilic, he really should have won that match

:55:04.:55:07.

in three sets. He was playing fantastic and then he had another

:55:08.:55:13.

look. Going up the centre of the court, Roger saved a bunch of break

:55:14.:55:18.

points, and once this crowd got into it, it really helped Federer in the

:55:19.:55:23.

end. But Roger Federer, that was one of the all-time comebacks I have

:55:24.:55:26.

ever seen here at Wimbledon. He was able to steal the win. And Cilic was

:55:27.:55:32.

just playing so well, with big serves, Federer was on the run. He

:55:33.:55:37.

could not even read his server for the first two. He was playing as

:55:38.:55:41.

well as he has ever played here at Wimbledon. With those guys with such

:55:42.:55:44.

big groundstrokes and so much firepower out there behind the

:55:45.:55:48.

service, it is so tough because you only get a couple of opportunities

:55:49.:55:52.

throughout the match. But Roger Federer, he never disappoints. The

:55:53.:55:57.

bad news is for everybody else that he is playing himself into form. He

:55:58.:56:03.

said he thought he might be out in the first week, which is very

:56:04.:56:06.

self-deprecating because no one else thought that he would be. The

:56:07.:56:11.

trouble is, he is playing himself into form and that is the exact sort

:56:12.:56:16.

of match, when you're hitting those second serves, he is now tight and I

:56:17.:56:19.

believe he has beaten Murray five times in a row. You are getting

:56:20.:56:28.

ahead of yourself again, Mr Castle. For Roger Federer, at the age of 34,

:56:29.:56:33.

to still have that drive and passion, to be able to produce that

:56:34.:56:37.

tennis at those crucial times, it is just incredible. I have said many

:56:38.:56:42.

times, the thing that I admire about him is how much he loves to be out

:56:43.:56:46.

on that tennis court. If there was one thing I could have taken from

:56:47.:56:50.

Roger Federer it is his actual joyride Aviv, as they say in France,

:56:51.:57:01.

because he is so competitive. -- joie de vivre, as they say in

:57:02.:57:06.

France. I do not think he was feeling 100% physically for a good

:57:07.:57:09.

part of that match. He looked better physically at the end than he did at

:57:10.:57:13.

the beginning. I don't know how he does it! But your guy did it, Milos

:57:14.:57:20.

Raonic was out on Court number one and did you see a lot of that? I did

:57:21.:57:25.

not see a lot of that. But the type of tennis that he played against

:57:26.:57:28.

Roger Federer today, that would be the type of tennis that Milos Raonic

:57:29.:57:33.

will bring to the table when he plays against Roger Federer. He

:57:34.:57:39.

wants to try as much as he can to take Roger Federer's magic wand out

:57:40.:57:46.

of his hands. And this was against Sam Querrey, a big server. Not only

:57:47.:57:50.

did he serve well, he returned well. He has this incredible coach... All

:57:51.:58:01.

of a sudden, he has had a great team before, and the best match I ever

:58:02.:58:04.

saw him play was down in Australia earlier this year. He was up two

:58:05.:58:10.

sets against Andy Murray in the semifinals. But he was not able to

:58:11.:58:14.

get it done. He has worked incredibly hard and he is a great

:58:15.:58:21.

young man. He is dangerous. If you are going to make a breakthrough,

:58:22.:58:32.

you might as well do it against the best. How do you expect him to do

:58:33.:58:38.

against Federer? He played the best I have seen him move earlier this

:58:39.:58:43.

year and I think he has taken that now onto the grass court. He has

:58:44.:58:48.

such a dangerous game, not just his serve but his forehand. He is

:58:49.:58:50.

learning to move better coming forward into the net and that adds

:58:51.:58:55.

another dimension to the game. Against Roger, even if he is a

:58:56.:58:58.

little fatigued, it is not going to be the kind of battle, because there

:58:59.:59:03.

will be a lot of shorter points. I am looking forward to that match.

:59:04.:59:07.

And you have told them that he has to impose himself, he has to be a

:59:08.:59:17.

bit more. He is a young man and he should love the fact that he is owed

:59:18.:59:22.

on that courts. I would encourage him to express himself. -- out on

:59:23.:59:27.

that court. Particularly like Andy Murray in the fifth set. Have you

:59:28.:59:31.

enjoyed your day on Centre Court? It does not get any better. Can we have

:59:32.:59:36.

dinner now? That would be nice. And you, too. What about the day you

:59:37.:59:40.

have had?! We started at 12:30am and it has been a long one. I would not

:59:41.:59:46.

have missed it for the world. That is it. Andy Murray is through. He

:59:47.:59:50.

will face Tomas Berdych over on Court number one. What a day people

:59:51.:59:53.

have had on Centre Court, one of the greatest tennis days in the

:59:54.:59:57.

championship's history. And Andy Murray was pushed to the brink but

:59:58.:00:00.

he came through in five sets. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

:00:01.:00:06.

Well done, Andy Murray. Bye-bye. It is quarterfinal stage and it is an

:00:07.:00:10.

absolutely cracking line-up. Getting his engine running here. He has got

:00:11.:00:20.

the ball on a string. He has not lost a set at this championship yet.

:00:21.:00:26.
