With your news now for the East Midlands, I'm Maurice Flynn.

:00:16.:00:17.

After hundreds of years burhed, feared lost, King Richard IHI has

:00:18.:00:20.

Not only does it mark his lhfe and legacy, but the exact spot where

:00:21.:00:26.

It was officially opened thhs morning, and the first wave

:00:27.:00:30.

There's a real sense of anthcipation here today as the first vishtors

:00:31.:00:37.

here are waiting to get a glimpse of this new visitor centre dedicated

:00:38.:00:41.

I would imagine this would be stunning.

:00:42.:00:47.

It's great for Leicester that this has happened.

:00:48.:00:49.

I came to Leicester to studx history and I did this kind of history, so,

:00:50.:00:55.

you know, it's so exciting, really, yeah.

:00:56.:01:01.

Leicester's elected mayor officially opens the centre and the

:01:02.:01:04.

Many travelling for hundreds of miles to see it.

:01:05.:01:10.

I'm a teacher in Holland, so I like to tell my kids

:01:11.:01:13.

To see a centre like this dedicated to a king I ve

:01:14.:01:19.

always admired and been intdrested in, is just remarkable.

:01:20.:01:23.

The centre aims to tell the story of Richard III through his dynasty,

:01:24.:01:28.

This is the spot where King Richard III's bones were found under

:01:29.:01:34.

And this glass floor gives visitors an intimate view of the grave he lay

:01:35.:01:42.

The exact place and the exact position where we found the remains.

:01:43.:01:48.

This new centre is yet another jewel in Leicester's crown.

:01:49.:01:57.

And firmly puts the city at the centre of the Richard III story

:01:58.:02:07.

A disturbance has broken out at a prison

:02:08.:02:09.

It's after 120 inmates at Ranby Prison refused to rettrn to

:02:10.:02:13.

The Prison Officers' Associ`tion confirmed the "serious incident

:02:14.:02:18.

A spokesman for the Prison Service said there was minor damage but no

:02:19.:02:23.

Possibly the region's newest war memorial was officially unvdiled

:02:24.:02:29.

It's in Selston in Nottingh`mshire and commemorates

:02:30.:02:32.

the 80 villagers who have dhed while fighting for their cotntry.

:02:33.:02:37.

It's the village's first melorial to its fallen, and was dedicated

:02:38.:02:39.

To sport, and Loughborough's Fran Halsall has set another record in

:02:40.:02:50.

Having already qualified for tonight's 50 metre freestyle,

:02:51.:02:55.

Halsall then led throughout the 50 metre fly heat to set a new British

:02:56.:02:58.

I just wanted to chill out, keep it a bit low`key this lorning

:02:59.:03:08.

because, obviously, I've got the 50 freestyle final tonight,

:03:09.:03:11.

It was just a good swim, I suppose, which is quite nice.

:03:12.:03:15.

She will be joined in tonight's semifinal 50 mdtre fly

:03:16.:03:17.

and final 50 metre freestyld by fellow Loughborough swimler,

:03:18.:03:20.

Amy Smith, who came second hn her 50 metre fly heat to qualifx.

:03:21.:03:25.

It's looking like a rivalry between Australia's Josh Be`ver

:03:26.:03:28.

A slow reaction to the gun saw the Loughborough swimmer just come

:03:29.:03:32.

second in qualifying for tonight's semi`final 50 metre backstroke just

:03:33.:03:35.

behind Beaver, who, last night, shared bronze in the 100 metres

:03:36.:03:40.

And this morning it's just about getting up racing,

:03:41.:03:45.

making it back for the semifinal this evening, which will be good.

:03:46.:03:53.

That's just some of the events today.

:03:54.:03:55.

Full coverage of course on BBC One, Two and Three throughout thd Games.

:03:56.:03:58.

If you're inside watching that, let's see what weather you're

:03:59.:04:01.

Good evening to you and I think the news that it's going

:04:02.:04:06.

to be getting cooler over the next day or so is going to come

:04:07.:04:09.

as welcome relief to those sick and tired of being hot and bothdred

:04:10.:04:12.

As you can see, there are showers on the way as we make our way through

:04:13.:04:16.

Some of them quite heavy, potentially thundery as well.

:04:17.:04:20.

Not everybody is going to see them though.

:04:21.:04:22.

They are far and few between to an extent but, as you can also see from

:04:23.:04:27.

those temperatures, it is going to be another very warm night, but as

:04:28.:04:30.

we make our way through to Sunday, yes, there is some sunshine around

:04:31.:04:33.

at times but it's a mainly cloudy day and you might even have to dodge

:04:34.:04:36.

a couple of showers once we go into the afternoon but thosd

:04:37.:04:39.

20`21 degrees Celsius rather than 26`27 but, thankfully,

:04:40.:04:42.

the new working week starts off on a largely dry note.

:04:43.:04:45.

It's just going to be a little bit cooler.

:04:46.:04:47.

The Beat's on your local BBC radio from six reporting tonight

:04:48.:04:50.

from three festivals ` Simon Says in Leicester, plts

:04:51.:04:52.

Derbyshire's Indietracks and the Not Glastonbury Festiveral in Bdeston.

:04:53.:04:56.

More for us here, earlier than usual tomorrow at 5.00pm.

:04:57.:05:16.

A bit of a change on the way, in fact it has already started in the

:05:17.:05:24.

north and west of the UK. It will be cooler, temperatures slipping back

:05:25.:05:24.

to where they cooler, temperatures slipping back

:05:25.:05:27.

to where they should be for this time of the year. Some sunshine but

:05:28.:05:34.

also some outbreaks of rain. Ahead of this crowd, some sunshine and

:05:35.:05:40.

heat, 29 in Southampton but only 16 in the Western Isles. Heavy rain for

:05:41.:05:43.

a time overnight working its way deep words -- eastwards. Elsewhere,

:05:44.:05:53.

largely dry, particularly in southern counties. Warmer in

:05:54.:05:54.
