After a string of bad results, Hull City announce in the last hour

they have sacked their head coach, Mike Phelan.

Business booms and Hull sparkles in the first three days

We a had group of four people in this morning that have come from

Swansea for the full three days just because it was City of Culture.

There is criticism as the last surviving Dambuster is snubbed

What do you know about the sacking, David?

Well, maybe it is not entirely unexpected, though I do think

personally having covered the club for a long time it is unfair. It was

a bit like temp one trying to fight Luke Campbell the box with one hand

tied behind his back. In terms of results, the statistics have been

damning. He has only picked up one wind in a lot of games and it is a

real problem for him. I don't the key had the resources to do it.

It leaves them in trouble. The owners have not invested enough in

the squad but I think they will turn towards a mild who did really well

at Burton Albion and has done well at Birmingham City. I think Gary

Rowett is the number-1 mild on the list in terms of who they want to

bring in to replace Mike Phelan. The Everett is they have to have a

chance. The owners have to give them the resources to the job. I put the

blame firmly at the owners but this is because the club has not been run

properly since Steve Bruce left in indignation in the summer. Mike

Phelan was a patsy in many ways, so you think it will be Gary Rowett but

days of Hull's year-long role as UK City of Culture have had a massive

until Saturday, 9.00pm every night. The rise in visitors is already

businesses across the city. Many cafes and hotels say they have

seen a huge increase in custom. We had a lot of people in last night

from the 'Made in Hull'. People are coming back

with relatives at the weekend. We had a group of four

has been positive. But elsewhere, City of Culture has

put Hull in the headlines for all the right

reasons, and organisers are trying to work out what that is

worth to the city's economy. We've got people working

who in the months to come will put those figures on, but, you know,

people can work out for themselves the voice, the coverage,

the noise that has been around Hull, It's looking really good

for the rest of the year. In fact, it's even

Campaigners say they are stunned and angry that the last surviving

Dambuster has been ignored in the New Year's Honours List.

There have been calls for Johnny Johnson to be knighted

for his role in the raids, which flew out of RAF

Scampton in Lincolnshire, and for his charity work.

Tennis player Andy Murray and comedian Ken Dodd -

both knighted in the New Year's honours.

But there's disappointment that Johnny Johnson,

the last surviving British veteran of the famous Dambusters

If you're measuring against contribution

to the country or the community, then he should have been honoured.

The Dambusters raid was one of the most daring

of the Second World War, with crews in Lancasters dropping

specially-designed bouncing bombs on German dams.

Here, at the International Bomber Command Centre near Lincoln,

the Dambusters are being remembered, but it's director has

told me she believes, at times, the Bomber Boys,

including Johnny Johnson, have been forgotten about.

There has been the general lack of recognition anyway

about all of that Bomber Command did, and certainly after

It took 70 years for them to get any recognition at all.

In the past, there has been a petition to get Johnny an honour.

But today he seemed surprised by the attention.

people were shocked he's still not been recognised.

He should have been put in the Honours List.

But, for now, Johnny will have to continue waiting and see if he's

included when the next honours are announced.

There are reports of an earthquake in the North Sea. The tremor was
