Hello, it looks like our weather will be settling down next week

0:00:020:00:05

and warming up a bit too. The reasons for that coming up in a few minutes.

0:00:050:00:08

Between now and then more rain on the way

0:00:080:00:10

courtesy of another area of low pressure

0:00:100:00:12

which is heading towards the UK,

0:00:120:00:14

and this will dominate our weather

0:00:140:00:15

for the rest of the week,

0:00:150:00:17

although not coming in until

0:00:170:00:18

late Wednesday, Wednesday night.

0:00:180:00:20

So, for most of us on Wednesday,

0:00:200:00:22

it will turn out to be a dry day

0:00:220:00:23

with broken cloud and sunny spells.

0:00:230:00:25

Wherever you are, you'll notice the breeze freshening

0:00:250:00:28

ahead of the front coming in from that low pressure,

0:00:280:00:31

bringing outbreaks of rain to

0:00:310:00:33

southwest England, south Wales,

0:00:330:00:34

but not until late in the day

0:00:340:00:36

does that get going.

0:00:360:00:38

Temperatures, given a bit of sunshine,

0:00:380:00:40

and, as you can see,

0:00:400:00:41

most are still dry well into the afternoon,

0:00:410:00:44

it will feel pleasant, high teens, low 20s,

0:00:440:00:46

warmer in southeast England than it has been recently.

0:00:460:00:49

Overnight, Wednesday into Thursday morning,

0:00:490:00:52

we get the rain from this weather system.

0:00:520:00:54

Not a huge amount, 5-10 millimetres,

0:00:540:00:57

and by Thursday morning

0:00:570:00:59

it's sitting across Scotland

0:00:590:01:00

and down the eastern side of England.

0:01:000:01:02

We'll take a look at the big picture for Thursday.

0:01:020:01:05

Here's the area of low pressure

0:01:050:01:07

with the weather front straddled from Scotland

0:01:070:01:09

and down the eastern side of England.

0:01:090:01:10

They'll take time to move north across Scotland

0:01:100:01:13

with the rain on Thursday. They'll clear more readily

0:01:130:01:16

from the eastern side of England.

0:01:160:01:17

Once that rain has gone

0:01:170:01:19

we are left in bright, breezy weather,

0:01:190:01:21

a few more showers behind,

0:01:210:01:22

but a lot of dry weather

0:01:220:01:24

with some sunny spells during Thursday.

0:01:240:01:27

Temperatures high teens, low 20s,

0:01:270:01:30

even a bit warmer in southeast England.

0:01:300:01:33

From Thursday into Friday,

0:01:330:01:35

the low pressure gets closer

0:01:350:01:37

and begins its journey across

0:01:370:01:39

the northern half of the UK,

0:01:390:01:41

the isobars wrapped around the low pressure,

0:01:410:01:43

indicating the strength of the wind.

0:01:430:01:45

The showers more widespread on Friday,

0:01:450:01:47

particularly across the northwest of the UK

0:01:470:01:50

where they may merge

0:01:500:01:51

to give longer spells of rain.

0:01:510:01:53

Quite strong winds, gales possible through the Irish Sea.

0:01:530:01:55

Might not see too many showers across

0:01:550:01:57

the east and southeast of England,

0:01:570:01:59

got to cater for some heading through,

0:01:590:02:01

especially later in the day.

0:02:010:02:03

That low pressure begins to get the message

0:02:030:02:05

and head away through the weekend.

0:02:050:02:07

On Saturday, though,

0:02:070:02:08

it's close enough to deliver some showers,

0:02:080:02:11

gradually easing, the wind easing too.

0:02:110:02:13

We may see those showers popping up on Saturday

0:02:130:02:15

in areas that don't see too many on Friday,

0:02:150:02:18

central and eastern parts of England for example.

0:02:180:02:21

High teens, low 20s for the temperature.

0:02:210:02:23

Once that low pressure has gone going into Sunday,

0:02:230:02:26

a ridge of high pressure begins to build in,

0:02:260:02:28

but no doubt your eyes are drawn to this,

0:02:280:02:31

the remnants of Hurricane Cristobal

0:02:310:02:33

coming in across the Atlantic.

0:02:330:02:35

This is not a Bertha that

0:02:350:02:36

stormed into the UK a few weeks ago.

0:02:360:02:38

Looks like this will track

0:02:380:02:39

between Iceland and Scotland,

0:02:390:02:40

something we need to follow,

0:02:400:02:42

and it may throw out a weather front ahead of it

0:02:420:02:44

that brings some cloud, rain and strengthening winds

0:02:440:02:47

into the western UK later on Sunday.

0:02:470:02:50

Perhaps pretty windy conditions to the

0:02:500:02:52

north of Scotland from Sunday into Monday.

0:02:520:02:55

We need to follow that part of the forecast

0:02:550:02:57

but once that's gone through, for the first days of September,

0:02:570:03:01

next week it looks like pressure will build across the UK

0:03:010:03:04

and the effect of that will be to settle the weather down

0:03:040:03:07

and make things warmer as well

0:03:070:03:08

due to the position of the weather systems, the flow of air around them.

0:03:080:03:12

Low pressure to the northwest, high somewhere to the south of us,

0:03:120:03:15

edging into the UK, and that's why the weather will be settling down,

0:03:150:03:19

a warmer flow of air, particularly across southern areas,

0:03:190:03:21

temperatures quite widely getting back into the 20s.

0:03:210:03:24

That's ten days of weather for you,

0:03:240:03:26

something to look forward to next week.
