Well, thanks for joining me. Let's see if this cold weather's going | 0:00:03 | 0:00:07
to last for a few more days yet and the answer is yes, | 0:00:07 | 0:00:09
it is, we've got more cold weather | 0:00:09 | 0:00:11
on the way, | 0:00:11 | 0:00:12
not desperately cold, but chilly. | 0:00:12 | 0:00:14
In fact, very chilly first thing | 0:00:14 | 0:00:16
in the morning on Tuesday across | 0:00:16 | 0:00:18
southern and south-eastern areas | 0:00:18 | 0:00:19
after a very, very frosty night. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:21
But also frosty across | 0:00:21 | 0:00:22
the northern half of Scotland. | 0:00:22 | 0:00:24
Here, too, across the glens, | 0:00:24 | 0:00:25
temperatures overnight have | 0:00:25 | 0:00:27
been close to -10 degrees | 0:00:27 | 0:00:29
and even more in one or two areas. | 0:00:29 | 0:00:31
Now, for northern England | 0:00:31 | 0:00:32
and for basically many western areas | 0:00:32 | 0:00:34
of the UK, it's around 5, 6 degrees | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
during the afternoon, | 0:00:36 | 0:00:37
but this part of the country, | 0:00:37 | 0:00:40
the South East, really chilly day on Tuesday. | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
Some sunshine, yes, | 0:00:43 | 0:00:44
but after a very frosty night, | 0:00:44 | 0:00:45
those temperatures struggling. | 0:00:45 | 0:00:47
You have to get down | 0:00:47 | 0:00:48
to south-western parts of the country | 0:00:48 | 0:00:49
before you get temperatures | 0:00:49 | 0:00:51
of around 7 degrees there in Plymouth. | 0:00:51 | 0:00:53
Chilly in Cardiff, 4 Celsius. | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
And just that little bit milder | 0:00:55 | 0:00:56
there in Belfast, around 7 degrees. | 0:00:56 | 0:00:58
So wherever you are, you get the message, | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
it's around 4 to 7 degrees | 0:01:00 | 0:01:04
and it's going to stay like that | 0:01:04 | 0:01:14
For Wednesday, then, high pressure | 0:01:14 | 0:01:15
in charge of the weather here. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:17
That's basically a block, | 0:01:17 | 0:01:18
it stops this milder Atlantic air | 0:01:18 | 0:01:21
sitting here coming our way. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:23
It will eventually reach us | 0:01:23 | 0:01:24
but not yet, not at this stage, | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
so this is Wednesday. | 0:01:26 | 0:01:27
Another frosty start to the day, | 0:01:27 | 0:01:29
a little bit of sunshine, | 0:01:29 | 0:01:30
and a bit of cloud too. | 0:01:30 | 0:01:31
You can see where the shade is, | 0:01:31 | 0:01:32
indicating the cloud, | 0:01:32 | 0:01:33
and some sunshine poking through | 0:01:33 | 0:01:35
there across Yorkshire, Wales, | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
maybe southern parts of England as well. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
And another chilly day, | 0:01:39 | 0:01:40
around 3 to 4 degrees. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
Then on Wednesday, | 0:01:42 | 0:01:43
we start to see this area of high pressure | 0:01:43 | 0:01:46
nudge away just that little bit | 0:01:46 | 0:01:47
towards the east | 0:01:47 | 0:01:48
and these weather fronts start | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
to make a little bit more progress. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:51
That means that the jet stream's ramping up, | 0:01:51 | 0:01:54
that means the jet stream | 0:01:54 | 0:01:55
is pushing the milder, wetter, cloudier, | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
windy weather in our direction, | 0:01:57 | 0:01:58
so you can see temperatures | 0:01:58 | 0:01:59
already possibly into double figures | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
across some of these western areas. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
And here's a look at the jet stream, | 0:02:03 | 0:02:04
end of the week. | 0:02:04 | 0:02:05
It's a quite strong one, | 0:02:05 | 0:02:06
pushing the weather fronts | 0:02:06 | 0:02:08
in our direction | 0:02:08 | 0:02:09
and then it kind of grinds | 0:02:09 | 0:02:10
almost to a halt, or rather, changes | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
direction and moves northwards | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
rather than zipping across us. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:15
What does that mean? | 0:02:15 | 0:02:16
Well, basically that is an indication that the milder air is going | 0:02:16 | 0:02:20
to be grazing western areas of the UK, whereas the further east you are, | 0:02:20 | 0:02:24
the more likely you are | 0:02:24 | 0:02:26
to hold onto some of that colder air. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:27
So imagine if the cold air is sitting | 0:02:27 | 0:02:29
across the continent here, | 0:02:29 | 0:02:30
it will be pushed in the direction | 0:02:30 | 0:02:32
of East Anglia, but the milder Atlantic air | 0:02:32 | 0:02:34
is reaching many western areas, | 0:02:34 | 0:02:35
so this is where we've got the mild conditions, | 0:02:35 | 0:02:38
11 degrees, say, in Cardiff, | 0:02:38 | 0:02:39
but possibly colder for Norwich and London. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:42
I've deliberately left out those temperatures just to give you | 0:02:42 | 0:02:45
an indication that temperatures could be some 5, 6 degrees colder here | 0:02:45 | 0:02:49
compared to what we might have across many western areas in the UK, | 0:02:49 | 0:02:52
so the mild air is heading our way but not for everybody | 0:02:52 | 0:02:55
and then next week, for us to get milder air, | 0:02:55 | 0:02:59
we need a jet stream to cut straight across us, | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
but what's going to happen, this area | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
of low pressure will keep sending air from the south which will be | 0:03:04 | 0:03:07
gnawing on the western areas of the UK, | 0:03:07 | 0:03:09
so not really influencing | 0:03:09 | 0:03:11
an awful lot of eastern areas of the country | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
and that just means that the floodgates will remain open next week | 0:03:13 | 0:03:16
for perhaps, perhaps, | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
cos there's no certainty, for some of that colder air to once again return | 0:03:18 | 0:03:22
to many eastern areas of the UK, | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
so it's a bit of a west-east split | 0:03:24 | 0:03:26
over the next week or so. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:28
Thanks for watching. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:29
So, no-one pays tax here? No-one pays taxes. | 0:03:35 | 0:03:38
BBC2 shows you how to do it. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:41
I'd like to take you all offshore | 0:03:41 | 0:03:43
to legally avoid tax. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:44
It is a licence to print cash. | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
And how not to do it. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:48 |
