Hello, thanks for tuning in, time to have a look at the weather

0:00:020:00:05

for the next few days and there will be quite a lot of changeable

0:00:050:00:08

weather as we go over the next seven days or so.

0:00:080:00:10

Starting with the short-term, we've got

0:00:100:00:12

some wind and rain heading our way, it's visible on the satellite

0:00:120:00:23

some icy patches first thing on Friday morning

0:00:230:00:25

but very quickly the weather is expected to go downhill.

0:00:250:00:29

So let's see what happens through the early hours of Friday morning.

0:00:290:00:32

Clouds thicken across many western areas here.

0:00:320:00:34

But in advance of this weather front, quite a widespread frost with

0:00:340:00:38

some icy patches here and there.

0:00:380:00:40

I don't think the temperatures will be falling widely below freezing

0:00:400:00:43

in many of the major towns and cities

0:00:430:00:46

but certainly in rural spots it will be pretty cold.

0:00:460:00:48

So onto Friday morning's rush hour then,

0:00:480:00:50

the wet and windy weather certainly setting into the Western Isles

0:00:500:00:54

of Scotland, a bit of snow across the Highlands here,

0:00:540:00:56

not a pleasant start for Northern Ireland by any means,

0:00:560:00:59

three degrees with outbreaks of rain.

0:00:590:01:01

Can just about see that cloud and the bits

0:01:010:01:05

areas but across the bulk of England it's a cold, crisp start.

0:01:050:01:11

but very quickly through the morning the weather is going to go

0:01:110:01:18

Certainly by the time we get to lunchtime, it will be

0:01:180:01:25

but it does look as though the extreme south-east

0:01:250:01:26

and East Anglia perhaps staying dry, at least through

0:01:260:01:39

quite literally, the North Atlantic in half. To the

0:01:390:01:49

which is a weather front - and we've got cloud, wind and rain

0:01:490:01:53

and unfortunately it looks as though this weather front will be

0:01:530:01:56

sliding, quite possibly, roughly along the same place,

0:01:560:01:59

around the same place through the course of the weekend which

0:01:590:02:01

means that we could see some heavy rain around

0:02:010:02:04

Wales into parts of north-western England into Cumbria as well.

0:02:040:02:07

So if you're stuck underneath this weather front it could be

0:02:070:02:10

raining all through the weekend and a big temperature contrast, as well,

0:02:100:02:13

between the north and south.

0:02:130:02:14

Here's the copycat conditions on Sunday,

0:02:140:02:16

again the weather front sliding through the UK

0:02:160:02:19

but I think on Sunday it looks as though maybe more northern areas,

0:02:190:02:22

perhaps Lancashire and certainly Cumbria getting a good dose of rain.

0:02:220:02:25

But that temperature contrast really will be evident - from five

0:02:250:02:28

degrees in Glasgow to perhaps 14 in the south of the UK.

0:02:280:02:31

So nearly a ten-degree drop from north to south.

0:02:310:02:35

Now, early next week,

0:02:350:02:36

it does look as though that milder air that would have

0:02:360:02:39

sat across the south of the UK, will retreat a little bit further

0:02:390:02:42

southwards and we're going to get a shot,

0:02:420:02:43

at least temporarily, of colder air and some calmer,

0:02:430:02:46

more crisp conditions as a little high pressure develops.

0:02:460:02:50

And we will see round that high pressure,

0:02:500:02:52

the cold air coming in once again.

0:02:520:02:54

So early next week, I think, some cold mornings on the way,

0:02:540:02:57

perhaps some wintry showers across northern areas

0:02:570:02:59

and the winds will certainly feel on the chilly side.

0:02:590:03:01

And as we go through the week, the middle part of the week,

0:03:010:03:04

that area of high pressure should zip away briefly,

0:03:040:03:06

so it's only a transient high, that means it doesn't stick around for

0:03:060:03:09

very long, and then instead, towards the end of next week,

0:03:090:03:12

we start to see

0:03:120:03:13

an area of low pressure coming in, pushing mild southwesterlies.

0:03:130:03:17

So that means that later next week, from that cold and crisp weather,

0:03:170:03:20

we'll get milder conditions with some wet and windy weather.

0:03:200:03:23

So it looks as though the weather will be very

0:03:230:03:25

changeable in the next five to seven days.

0:03:250:03:28

Thanks for watching.
