We certainly had a pretty changeable weekend with many places

0:58:390:58:42

seeing some thundery downpours on Saturday.

0:58:420:58:45

Then on Sunday,

0:58:450:58:46

we saw a band of more coherent rain work its way in from the west.

0:58:460:58:49

It remains pretty changeable for the next few days.

0:58:490:58:52

An unsettled week ahead of us with rain at times,

0:58:520:58:55

some of that rain quite heavy and that rain will also be

0:58:550:58:57

accompanied by some fairly brisk winds.

0:58:570:59:00

Not a particularly summery feel to the coming week.

0:59:000:59:02

We see some rain working its way south

0:59:020:59:04

and eastwards across England overnight.

0:59:040:59:07

It might linger first thing in the morning, but it won't last too long.

0:59:070:59:10

It will be out of the way pretty quickly.

0:59:100:59:13

Then for the southern half of the UK, bar the odd shower,

0:59:130:59:15

I think most places will have a dry day with variable cloud

0:59:150:59:18

and some sunshine.

0:59:180:59:19

A bit more in the way of showers as you head further north,

0:59:190:59:22

but still some spells of sunshine in between those showers,

0:59:220:59:25

for eastern side of Scotland.

0:59:250:59:26

There's always a bit more cloud and showers,

0:59:260:59:28

more frequent in the western side Scotland

0:59:280:59:31

15 degrees in Glasgow, 21 or 22 in the London area.

0:59:310:59:34

Looking ahead towards Tuesday -

0:59:340:59:36

We'll keep the winds coming in from the west.

0:59:360:59:38

It's this little area of low pressure which is set to bring some

0:59:380:59:41

rather wet to the south-west of UK the initially.

0:59:410:59:44

Notice a bit of a squeeze in the southern flank of the low.

0:59:440:59:48

We are going to see some pretty brisk winds in the south-west.

0:59:480:59:50

It could be getting pretty close to gale force and windy conditions

0:59:500:59:54

but also quite a bit of rain spreading up through the Irish Sea.

0:59:540:59:57

Some heavy showers breaking out in Scotland, northern England.

0:59:570:59:59

That wetter weather moving its way into the Midlands.

0:59:591:00:02

Notice, East Anglia and the south-east

1:00:021:00:04

stays dry through the early afternoon,

1:00:041:00:06

but it'll be the early evening when the rain works its way through here.

1:00:061:00:09

That first system moves away into the North Sea,

1:00:091:00:12

but hot on its heels, comes the next weather system.

1:00:121:00:14

By this stage, the ground would be pretty wet across the south

1:00:141:00:17

and west and there's more heavy rain.

1:00:171:00:19

So we're going to have to watch those rainfall totals over

1:00:191:00:22

the coming few days.

1:00:221:00:24

It'll be adding up day by day.

1:00:241:00:26

The rain affecting many areas during the day.

1:00:261:00:29

Underneath the cloud, wind and the rain,

1:00:291:00:31

a disappointing feel to things.

1:00:311:00:33

Temperatures are a few degrees lower than you might expect,

1:00:331:00:35

particularly across the northern half of the UK,

1:00:351:00:37

through the middle, towards the latter part of the week.

1:00:371:00:40

With low pressure firmly in charge.

1:00:401:00:42

That low is bringing the air all the way down from Iceland.

1:00:421:00:45

So, Thursday another unsettled day.

1:00:451:00:47

Breezy for all parts,

1:00:471:00:49

further rain across these western areas spreading further east.

1:00:491:00:52

Some eastern area staying driest for longest,

1:00:521:00:54

but I think we will all see some rain during the day on Thursday.

1:00:541:00:57

And again, not feeling all that pleasant in the wind and the rain.

1:00:571:01:00

Something of respite for the southern half of the UK,

1:01:001:01:02

at least, on Friday.

1:01:021:01:04

One or two showers moving through on the breeze,

1:01:041:01:06

but further north and west, in particular, we're

1:01:061:01:09

going to see further showers and some longer spells of rain.

1:01:091:01:12

If you look at the big picture across the North Atlantic

1:01:121:01:15

for the end of the coming week, and into the start of the weekend.

1:01:151:01:19

Perhaps not really going to change too much.

1:01:191:01:22

Low pressure in charge of our weather.

1:01:221:01:24

Further south, this is the Azores.

1:01:241:01:27

This high is on the southern flank,

1:01:271:01:30

on the warm side of the jet stream,

1:01:301:01:32

which snakes its way towards the south of UK.

1:01:321:01:35

We are on the cool side of the low pressure.

1:01:351:01:37

If the jet were to move north, it would bring this high with it

1:01:371:01:40

that would bring more settled and warmer weather.

1:01:401:01:42

But it looks like things aren't going to change too much

1:01:421:01:45

as we get on into the weekend.

1:01:451:01:47

Even on into the early part of July, the pattern remained the same,

1:01:471:01:49

with the jet stream to the south of UK, we stay on the cold

1:01:491:01:52

side of the jet and we've got low pressure in charge of our weather.

1:01:521:01:55

On into early July, we've still got low pressure in charge,

1:01:551:01:58

this iconic look to things.

1:01:581:02:00

It's always going to be wettest in the north-west of the UK,

1:02:001:02:02

a bit drier in the south-east.

1:02:021:02:04

But temperatures remain a little bit disappointing for most of us.

1:02:041:02:07

Goodbye now.
