Hello. Stand by. A heatwave is on the way with temperatures

topping 30 Celsius for the first time this summer, actually,

not far from that on Saturday, across some spots in the UK,

getting to 27.1 Celsius at Writtle in Essex.

14 Celsius in western Scotland, though, where you have cloud

and some outbreaks of rain for much of the day.

So more of that captured on your Weather Watcher pictures.

This was one view from Highland Scotland.

There's your cloud but there's your wispy cloud

and plenty of sunshine in Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.

Now it is high pressure close by that's just beginning

to build in from the south which is going to bring us

some increasing sunshine over the next few days.

Still the weather front, though,

clipping western Scotland

on Sunday with outbreaks of rain

becoming more confined to north-west Scotland

into the afternoon.

Still a lot of cloud

on an old weather front

feeding into South Wales,

damp and drizzly at times here

and that area of cloud stretching down

towards parts of south-east England

though southern coastal counties of England

should see sunny spells,

maybe the odd heavy shower.

A good deal of sunshine for the afternoon,

North Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia,

northern England, Northern Ireland

sunny spells southern Scotland.

Warm, muggy again across parts of southern England,

although not as much sunshine at Lord's compared with Saturday.

I think the day will end, though,

with some sunny spells coming through.

And an improving picture for the golf at Troon because

we will see that cloud breaking at times as the afternoon goes on.

Still a breezy picture, mind you, still quite a gusty wind.

That's some of Sunday's sporting activity

and here is the big picture as we go from Sunday into Monday.

High pressure just nudging a little bit further north.

The weather front still close to northern Scotland,

still with some outbreaks of rain around here.

A chance for getting some mist and fog around some western coasts

to begin Monday. Plenty of sunshine

Monday afternoon for England

and Wales, Northern Ireland

into southern Scotland

and that heat beginning to build from the south,

but clearly you're not going to feel

the benefits of that if you've got the rain

in north-west Scotland on Monday.

Now as we look at the picture for Tuesday, well,

low pressure Bay of Biscay, high pressure to the east of us.

Those pressures systems bringing the air up from the south

and hot weather coming our way

widely for England and Wales on Tuesday, around 30 Celsius,

as high as maybe 32,

getting into the mid to upper 20s

for Northern Ireland and Scotland,

with perhaps some of us starting cloudy

but increasing sunshine

for the afternoon on Tuesday.

Still perhaps some outbreaks of rain

for the very far north of Scotland.

But the mini heatwave doesn't last very long

because already with this area

of low pressure coming in,

some uncertainty about its track

and what it's going to do,

we get some thunderstorms

on Tuesday night into Wednesday

and that starts to break the heat down.

Now it may not look like this on Wednesday.

At the moment it looks as if

northern parts of the UK

are at more risk of seeing

some torrential downpours on Wednesday.

We'll keep you up to date.

And there could still be

heat around through parts of England and Wales,

especially the further south you are on Wednesday,

it could still be near 30 Celsius.

But as we go into Thursday,

notice now we're looking to the

Atlantic again - weather systems coming our way.

Now we saw those wind arrows earlier bringing up the heat from the south.

Now by Thursday, look at this,

we're looking for the Atlantic again.

So clearly things starting to cool down

closer to normal

for the time of year by Thursday.

So it's almost as you were again,

High teens, low 20s,

sunny spells and scattered showers.

Cooler, then, not cold at the end of the week

and into the following weekend.

Still quite pleasant where the sun makes an appearance,

still feeling quite warm, actually, but there will be showers around.

So in just one forecast,

a mini heatwave, the hottest weather of the year so far,

then back to normal. Bye for now.
