For much of this week, many parts of the United Kingdom have

0:00:030:00:06

enjoyed some sunshine and some warmth but it's all set to change.

0:00:060:00:10

We'll take a look at the satellite sequence which shows this

0:00:100:00:13

huge mass of cloud heading our way.

0:00:130:00:15

That's going to bring some pretty heavy rainfall

0:00:150:00:18

and then some very strong winds.

0:00:180:00:19

A much more autumnal look and feel to the weather

0:00:190:00:22

over the next few days.

0:00:220:00:23

There's some rain heading its way

0:00:230:00:25

northwards and eastwards through the day.

0:00:250:00:27

The north of Scotland should fare quite well - largely dry.

0:00:270:00:30

Through the afternoon something a bit dryer begins to develop,

0:00:300:00:33

at least for a time, across some parts of Wales

0:00:330:00:35

and the south-west of England.

0:00:350:00:36

Northern Scotland doing quite well into the afternoon.

0:00:360:00:39

The Aberdeenshire area largely dry but fairly cloudy,

0:00:390:00:42

and then a disappointing afternoon through the south of Scotland

0:00:420:00:45

into northern England.

0:00:450:00:46

Fairly breezy and wet as well, so a disappointing feel to things,

0:00:460:00:49

but some improvements in Northern Ireland into the afternoon.

0:00:490:00:52

Still some rain across East Anglia

0:00:520:00:53

and the south-east through the afternoon, 17, 18 degrees,

0:00:530:00:56

but with brighter weather down towards the south-west

0:00:560:00:59

we should get into the low 20s, at least temporarily,

0:00:590:01:01

before these showers come along on a freshening wind.

0:01:010:01:04

Indeed, Friday night into Saturday morning, the winds

0:01:040:01:06

in the south-west of the UK becoming really quite strong indeed -

0:01:060:01:09

gale force and very blustery as well.

0:01:090:01:12

Not a cold night with the south-westerly wind -

0:01:120:01:14

it's 14 or 15 degrees to start the day on Saturday.

0:01:140:01:17

Take a look at the big picture for Saturday and it shows

0:01:170:01:20

this dartboard low across the UK -

0:01:200:01:22

the sort of chart you'd expect to see in October,

0:01:220:01:24

not really towards the latter part of August,

0:01:240:01:27

so some really unseasonably windy weather.

0:01:270:01:29

Lots of isobars in the charts, strong winds across the board,

0:01:290:01:32

gusts across the south of the UK.

0:01:320:01:34

Inland, 40-50mph,

0:01:340:01:36

around the coast, could get to 50-60mph.

0:01:360:01:38

Some heavy rain moving away from Northern Ireland,

0:01:380:01:40

pushing into northern England for the afternoon.

0:01:400:01:43

There are loads of outdoor events this weekend and the weather

0:01:430:01:45

really isn't looking conducive to many of them.

0:01:450:01:48

Sunday we've still got that low with us.

0:01:480:01:50

It's just slowly drifting out into the North Sea.

0:01:500:01:53

During the day on Sunday things should quieten down,

0:01:530:01:56

at least to some degree.

0:01:560:01:57

Still a fair number of isobars on the chart, so a blustery day.

0:01:570:02:00

Not as windy as Saturday but still a blustery day.

0:02:000:02:03

A drier day but still some showers dotted around,

0:02:030:02:06

particularly in the north and west.

0:02:060:02:08

Probably a bit drier in the south-east,

0:02:080:02:09

21 or maybe 22 degrees if you are lucky.

0:02:090:02:13

Now, as we get on into Monday,

0:02:130:02:14

the next area of low pressure is heading our way.

0:02:140:02:17

Not as windy with that but still some rain spreading in

0:02:170:02:20

across many parts of the UK,

0:02:200:02:22

so not a great start to the new week.

0:02:220:02:24

It will be wet, it will be fairly windy,

0:02:240:02:26

but temperatures into the low 20s with that south-westerly breeze.

0:02:260:02:30

And then on into Monday night and into Tuesday we've still got

0:02:300:02:33

that trailing weather front draped there across

0:02:330:02:35

parts of Scotland, down towards Wales.

0:02:350:02:37

We're going to see some clouds and rain with that

0:02:370:02:40

but towards the south and the east it looks largely dry.

0:02:400:02:42

Things will be turning a bit warmer, by the looks of things -

0:02:420:02:45

24, 25 degrees Tuesday afternoon in the south-eastern corner.

0:02:450:02:49

And then beyond that, well, quite a range in the possibilities.

0:02:490:02:52

Through the middle of the week, low pressure to the north and west

0:02:520:02:55

may well bring some rain but it looks largely try

0:02:550:02:57

across the south through the middle and latter part of the week.

0:02:570:03:00

We'll take a look at some temperature forecasts.

0:03:000:03:02

This is mainly for the southern half of the UK.

0:03:020:03:04

This green line is the normal line.

0:03:040:03:06

It looks like we'll see those temperatures just dipping

0:03:060:03:09

below normal through this weekend.

0:03:090:03:10

Pretty good agreement between quite a large number of

0:03:100:03:13

international meteorological models.

0:03:130:03:14

But then, as we get onto into the latter part of the week,

0:03:140:03:17

the international models really do not agree at all with those

0:03:170:03:21

temperatures across the south of the UK.

0:03:210:03:23

A huge range of possibilities and that's not just for the south

0:03:230:03:26

of the UK, I think there's going to be

0:03:260:03:28

a huge range of possibilities for the north as well.

0:03:280:03:31

Eating healthy can be confusing...

0:03:320:03:35

..it's hard to know what to buy!
