Today, we're in the south-west of England,

0:00:020:00:03

but no matter where you live, being part of a close-knit community

0:00:030:00:06

is always a welcome support when things get tough.

0:00:060:00:09

But sadly, we live such busy lives,

0:00:090:00:11

many of us don't get to know our next-door neighbours.

0:00:110:00:14

Well, today, all of that is going to change.

0:00:140:00:16

We're bringing all the neighbours of this community together

0:00:160:00:19

to have one massive street party to celebrate one inspiring person.

0:00:190:00:24

A mother who has faced unimaginable tragedy in her life,

0:00:240:00:28

but still spends endless hours helping others.

0:00:280:00:31

There's no-one more deserving of a big thank you,

0:00:310:00:34

so we're holding a street auction to raise money just for her.

0:00:340:00:37

Three, two, one...

0:00:370:00:39

Good luck.

0:00:390:00:41

We'll be giving it everything we've got to make the cash we need...

0:00:410:00:45

One-man's junk is another man's treasure.

0:00:450:00:47

..and revealing the moneymaking potential

0:00:470:00:50

lying unnoticed in your home.

0:00:500:00:52

Almost the Imari palette.

0:00:520:00:54

The Imari palette is blues, reds and golds.

0:00:540:00:56

But do we have any chance of making a massive £1,500?

0:00:580:01:03

Today, we're combing for auction-worthy antiques

0:01:110:01:14

at the seaside in Somerset.

0:01:140:01:16

The traditional English resort of Burnham-on-Sea

0:01:160:01:19

became popular in the 19th century

0:01:190:01:22

and its long stretch of beach still draws visitors today.

0:01:220:01:26

42-year-old Jo Clement grew up here with her best friend Dawn,

0:01:270:01:32

and in the last three years

0:01:320:01:33

she's made an enormous impact on the people of this town.

0:01:330:01:37

Jo fights every day to help the people that she cares about.

0:01:390:01:44

She is amazingly strong, so dedicated and passionate.

0:01:440:01:50

Jo qualified as a teacher while bringing up three children -

0:01:510:01:56

daughter Daisy-Mae and two sons, Harry and Charley.

0:01:560:02:00

Charley was beautiful.

0:02:000:02:01

When he was born, he...

0:02:010:02:03

Yeah. Yeah, apple of my eye.

0:02:030:02:05

Absolutely gorgeous, inside and out.

0:02:050:02:09

He loved spending time with his family, his friends.

0:02:090:02:12

Jo and her children shared a happy, busy life together

0:02:150:02:19

until an apparently normal day in September 2014.

0:02:190:02:23

Got home, parked the car, 5:20pm, with Daisy-Mae with me.

0:02:250:02:31

Key in the door and opened the door

0:02:310:02:33

and saw Charley hanging there.

0:02:330:02:36

Got Daisy out and then...

0:02:380:02:41

..went, lifted him up and he took his last,

0:02:410:02:45

obviously, last gasp of breath.

0:02:450:02:47

I can remember the helicopter landing in the field behind.

0:02:510:02:55

I was pleading with them to stop doing what they were doing

0:02:560:03:00

because it was just damaging his little body

0:03:000:03:02

with how they were trying to bring him back to life, so...

0:03:020:03:06

Having shown signs of mental illness since childhood,

0:03:080:03:11

Charley took his own life, aged just 18.

0:03:110:03:15

I miss hearing his voice.

0:03:150:03:17

I miss...

0:03:170:03:19

I miss the mess that he left in the

0:03:190:03:21

kitchen when he cooked bacon and eggs.

0:03:210:03:22

And I miss his hugs.

0:03:220:03:24

Charley and JoJo were very close.

0:03:260:03:28

I think JoJo misses his friendship.

0:03:280:03:29

Charley's death had a profound effect on his entire family,

0:03:370:03:41

including his grandmother, Pauline.

0:03:410:03:44

I miss him being with all the other grandchildren.

0:03:440:03:48

SHE CRIES

0:03:480:03:49

Seeing...

0:03:490:03:51

..that they've all moved on.

0:03:510:03:54

And...there's no Charley.

0:03:540:03:57

But in the midst of the family's colossal grief, Jo stood strong.

0:04:020:04:07

So many people would have crumbled with what happened to Charley,

0:04:120:04:16

and, some months, JoJo did.

0:04:160:04:19

But to see her come out of it, I am so proud of her.

0:04:190:04:24

For Jo, coming out of it meant setting up a charity

0:04:240:04:28

to help to support young people battling mental health issues.

0:04:280:04:32

And the most extraordinary thing is - she did this

0:04:320:04:35

just three weeks after losing her young son.

0:04:350:04:39

She was like a woman on a mission.

0:04:390:04:41

Today, the charity provides free counselling for youngsters,

0:04:410:04:45

runs outreach programmes for schools and youth groups,

0:04:450:04:49

advises parents and carers,

0:04:490:04:50

and trains teenage ambassadors, like 14-year-old Jack,

0:04:500:04:54

on how to support friends struggling with mental health issues.

0:04:540:04:59

She has turned something absolutely horrific -

0:04:590:05:03

and it still is horrific, don't get me wrong -

0:05:030:05:06

into something fantastic.

0:05:060:05:08

Jo's remarkable resilience and unbelievable bravery

0:05:150:05:19

in the face of such enormous tragedy

0:05:190:05:22

is surely deserving of a big thank you.

0:05:220:05:24

We want to send her, her son Harry and her daughter Daisy-Mae

0:05:240:05:28

on a much-needed holiday together.

0:05:280:05:31

We reckon we need £1,500 to make it happen,

0:05:310:05:34

and here's how we're going to raise the money.

0:05:340:05:37

We've asked all of Jo's friends, family and neighbours

0:05:370:05:40

to donate any unwanted or unloved items they have,

0:05:400:05:44

so we can sell them here at our street party and pop-up auction.

0:05:440:05:47

It's a huge task - I can't do it by myself -

0:05:470:05:50

so I've drafted in the help of a couple of friends

0:05:500:05:52

who know exactly what to look for when it comes to making money.

0:05:520:05:56

They arrived here a few weeks ago to get the wheels in motion,

0:05:560:05:59

and this is how they got on.

0:05:590:06:00

Izzie Balmer is an auctioneer

0:06:040:06:05

who can pick out the antique winners from the also-rans.

0:06:050:06:09

And Danny Sebastian's a dealer

0:06:090:06:11

with a knack for finding unexpected treasures.

0:06:110:06:14

I tell you what, Izzie, Jo has been through an awful lot.

0:06:160:06:20

She does sound like a really amazing woman.

0:06:200:06:23

To be honest with you, I think amazing is an understatement.

0:06:230:06:25

But I am really looking forward to today.

0:06:250:06:29

I would love for us to do an amazing job

0:06:290:06:31

and raise as much money as we can, just to acknowledge Jo, really.

0:06:310:06:34

Well, we can definitely do it, but I tell you one thing we've got to do,

0:06:340:06:37

we've got to get on with it. I'm going this way.

0:06:370:06:40

-I better go this way, then.

-See you later.

0:06:400:06:43

Danny and Izzie will be competing to see who will finish the day

0:06:430:06:47

with the best finds,

0:06:470:06:49

and they'll be telling you all there is to know about spotting

0:06:490:06:52

the unnoticed treasures lying around your home.

0:06:520:06:55

So, best foot forward for both.

0:06:560:06:58

I'll run over to you.

0:06:580:07:00

But while Izzie is finding it hard to get off the starting blocks...

0:07:020:07:06

Are you going to come and help me rummage?

0:07:060:07:08

Cos I am not having much success yet.

0:07:080:07:11

..Danny streaks into an early lead...

0:07:110:07:13

..without even trying.

0:07:140:07:16

Oh, the garage door's open!

0:07:160:07:18

I fell on my feet.

0:07:180:07:20

-That can go.

-That can go, that's one, that's brilliant.

0:07:200:07:22

We'll have that straightaway. Might even put a slap of paint on that.

0:07:220:07:25

That can go, there. That chest of drawers.

0:07:250:07:27

-That's quite nice. Was it this, Loretta, did you say?

-Yeah.

0:07:270:07:30

What's this? Oh, yeah, yeah, that's lovely.

0:07:300:07:33

-Ooh.

-Do you want a hand?

-Go on, then.

0:07:330:07:37

HE LAUGHS

0:07:370:07:39

You've had a field day, haven't you?

0:07:390:07:40

Hey, I've not done so bad. I've not done so bad.

0:07:400:07:43

We've got some lovely potential here for upcycling items.

0:07:450:07:49

Yes, this bedside table is a good solid pine piece

0:07:490:07:52

but, let's be honest, it's a bit dated.

0:07:520:07:55

A lick of paint will bring it right back to life.

0:07:550:07:57

There's also more than enough to get the bric-a-brac going here.

0:07:570:08:01

But my real favourite spoil today

0:08:010:08:04

is this large leather cubed stool seat.

0:08:040:08:07

It's really nice.

0:08:070:08:09

Who knows? Might even go on Paul's pop-up auction.

0:08:090:08:12

I think it will. Timeless classics like this are always a safe bet.

0:08:120:08:17

You'll pay £60-£80 for a new one in the shops.

0:08:170:08:20

If we can make a quarter of that, I'll be happy.

0:08:200:08:23

Danny!

0:08:230:08:24

-How are you? How are you doing?

-I have got nothing.

0:08:240:08:27

DANNY LAUGHS

0:08:270:08:28

-I'm not going to lie.

-Listen, you've got to follow my lead, Izzie.

0:08:280:08:31

You've got to follow my lead.

0:08:310:08:32

I've got quite a few bits of big furniture here.

0:08:320:08:34

As luck has it, they're moving away.

0:08:340:08:36

Up here for thinking, Izzie, up here for thinking.

0:08:360:08:38

I hope you've not missed... I've got three more houses around there,

0:08:380:08:41

I've got to go back, so don't go knocking around there too much.

0:08:410:08:45

-They're not in!

-Well...

0:08:450:08:47

-They was in for me. See you later.

-See you.

0:08:480:08:52

Poor Izzie. Her day's turning into a real damp squib.

0:08:530:08:57

Not having the best of luck but I'm not going to be defeated,

0:09:000:09:02

I'm going to keep on going, and that's my next house.

0:09:020:09:05

All the more frustrating

0:09:070:09:09

when it looks like Danny can't put a foot wrong.

0:09:090:09:11

-Do you want to have a look around?

-Oh, yes, please.

0:09:110:09:13

-Come on in.

-Come on in.

0:09:130:09:14

-What's your name, by the way?

-Simon.

-Simon, thank you.

0:09:170:09:19

So, these are a limited edition.

0:09:190:09:22

They're cast, so they're not solid.

0:09:220:09:23

-No.

-But they're actually very thick.

0:09:230:09:25

You can feel the weight. This is silver, they're both silver.

0:09:250:09:28

It's real silver, yeah. Stamped?

0:09:280:09:29

-Yeah, it says on it...

-It will be somewhere.

0:09:290:09:32

Sterling silver will always be stamped with a hallmark -

0:09:320:09:35

the word Sterling or the number 925.

0:09:350:09:38

Marks can be small, so you may need a strong light,

0:09:380:09:42

a magnifying glass, or both, to spot them.

0:09:420:09:45

Yeah, it's got artist and silver.

0:09:450:09:48

Modern doesn't mean there's not a value here.

0:09:480:09:51

I think this pair could soar at auction,

0:09:510:09:53

and Simon's not finished donating quite yet.

0:09:530:09:56

I think this is gorgeous.

0:09:560:09:57

-It's sort of like a nice Roman...

-Greek, Roman gladiator-type thing.

0:09:570:10:02

It's something I bought at auction, actually, around about 30 years ago

0:10:020:10:06

-and I've just never...

-Never done owt with it?

0:10:060:10:09

This little guy is made from spelter,

0:10:090:10:11

a cheaper alternative to bronze,

0:10:110:10:14

and often mistaken for it.

0:10:140:10:15

New scratches are a telltale sign.

0:10:150:10:18

If they're yellow, it's bronze.

0:10:180:10:20

Silver, and it's spelter.

0:10:200:10:22

I think it's a nice piece.

0:10:220:10:24

And with the dust off it, it'll...

0:10:240:10:25

THEY LAUGH

0:10:250:10:26

But if somebody will enjoy it, then great.

0:10:280:10:30

Oh, they will do. It's a nice piece, that.

0:10:300:10:32

Anything else in there, Simon?

0:10:320:10:34

Can you see through...

0:10:340:10:36

Yeah. Got the pheasants there, and you've also...

0:10:360:10:39

There's also like a gold tinge to it.

0:10:390:10:42

Well, this is relatively old.

0:10:420:10:43

You can see on the back here, Verlux...

0:10:430:10:46

-Oh, I can do, yes.

-France.

0:10:460:10:48

There were many producers of opalescent glass

0:10:480:10:51

in France in the 1920s and '30s.

0:10:510:10:54

Lalique tends to be the most sought-after these days

0:10:540:10:57

but this piece is still worth £50 or more.

0:10:570:11:01

There's a lot of detail going on there.

0:11:010:11:03

-Yeah.

-I quite like this.

0:11:030:11:05

If I was perhaps to take...

0:11:050:11:08

..this charger...

0:11:080:11:09

-Yeah.

-..am I asking too much?

0:11:090:11:11

No, that'll be fine. That'll be fine.

0:11:110:11:13

-I hope you're going to be coming on the day.

-I hope so.

0:11:130:11:15

-Yeah.

-The only trouble is I might buy it back.

0:11:150:11:17

THEY LAUGH

0:11:170:11:18

Such a beautiful piece, can't say I blame him.

0:11:200:11:23

And now that Izzie's picking up the pace...

0:11:230:11:25

Hm! What have we got here?

0:11:260:11:29

..our rummage day is beginning to shape up nicely.

0:11:300:11:34

I have here two Oriental plates.

0:11:340:11:37

They are quite modern, but they are in a traditional style.

0:11:370:11:40

It's almost the Imari palette.

0:11:400:11:41

The Imari palette is blues, reds and golds.

0:11:410:11:45

So a couple of pounds on the bric-a-brac and it's all adding up.

0:11:450:11:48

Thank you. Thank you very much.

0:11:510:11:52

We've got some prints and some lamps.

0:11:520:11:54

So it's some really great pieces for the bric-a-brac.

0:11:540:11:57

Again, it is only a couple of pounds. But you know what?

0:11:570:12:00

I am not grumbling at this stage it all.

0:12:000:12:02

I thought you was having a bit of bad luck.

0:12:020:12:04

I was but I think, since bumping into you, my luck's changed.

0:12:040:12:07

-Has it?

-It's the Danny effect.

0:12:070:12:09

Danny effect or just a lucky break - who knows?

0:12:100:12:13

Either way, we need to stay focused

0:12:130:12:16

on making that £1,500 for Jo and her family,

0:12:160:12:20

because if anyone knows the meaning of focus and determination,

0:12:200:12:23

it's her.

0:12:230:12:25

For a lot of people, what she went through,

0:12:250:12:27

they would've closed the door, drawn the curtains,

0:12:270:12:30

and they wouldn't have come out for six months.

0:12:300:12:32

But less than a month after Charley took his own life,

0:12:340:12:37

Jo decided to set up a mental health charity for youngsters,

0:12:370:12:41

inspired, in part, by Charley's friends.

0:12:410:12:44

There was about 300 or 400 of Charley's friends

0:12:450:12:49

sat in the Manor Gardens, all with their candles.

0:12:490:12:52

They kept sort of coming up and giving me money to do something,

0:12:520:12:56

to buy flowers or something,

0:12:560:12:58

but when you get £400 or £500, you need to do something,

0:12:580:13:01

so we ordered a bench, which is in the Manor Gardens,

0:13:010:13:04

and then the funeral was about £1,000,

0:13:040:13:08

and then you sit there and you think, "Where's it all going to go?"

0:13:080:13:12

What are you going to do with it?

0:13:120:13:14

I can remember being sat on the sofa with my Harry,

0:13:140:13:18

three weeks after Charley died,

0:13:180:13:20

and saying, "Right, that's it, I'm going to set up a charity,"

0:13:200:13:23

so my Harry set up this Facebook page

0:13:230:13:26

and basically it went from 1 to 100 to 400

0:13:260:13:32

to 1,000-plus likes within half an hour of us setting it up.

0:13:320:13:36

Realising that she'd struck a chord,

0:13:380:13:40

Jo's family and friends rode in behind her,

0:13:400:13:43

including her dad, George.

0:13:430:13:45

Initially, she was going out canvassing,

0:13:460:13:48

and trying to make people aware that this charity existed,

0:13:480:13:51

and she'd go out collecting, with collecting pots,

0:13:510:13:54

going to all the businesses in the town,

0:13:540:13:56

and I think every one made a donation.

0:13:560:13:59

We were worried about her, at home grieving because Charley had gone,

0:13:590:14:02

but the reality is she was doing radio interviews,

0:14:020:14:05

she was answering Facebook messages at four o'clock in the morning,

0:14:050:14:10

she was sending e-mails to organisations to raise awareness.

0:14:100:14:15

She was just trying to let youngsters know that there is help,

0:14:150:14:19

there is light, you know, at the end of the tunnel,

0:14:190:14:22

if they can see their way through it.

0:14:220:14:24

And, almost three years on,

0:14:240:14:26

Jo's still trying to prevent other young people and their families

0:14:260:14:30

from experiencing the terrible pain she's going through.

0:14:300:14:35

She is the definition of solidarity.

0:14:350:14:40

I don't know how she does it all. She really is amazing.

0:14:410:14:44

She's a very good mum. I don't know what I would do without her.

0:14:460:14:51

And she puts a lot of time into helping others

0:14:510:14:54

and I love her for that.

0:14:540:14:56

-Hello.

-To turn your life around by helping others, as Jo has done,

0:14:590:15:03

takes almost superhuman courage.

0:15:030:15:06

That's why we've just got to make £1,500.

0:15:060:15:10

Keep the momentum going.

0:15:100:15:12

Thankfully, Izzie's struck gold around neighbour Andrew's house.

0:15:130:15:18

I ended up spending the whole of my working life

0:15:180:15:21

in the clothing industry

0:15:210:15:23

and, in the early days, when garments became marked,

0:15:230:15:28

they were cleaned with a cleaning fluid.

0:15:280:15:30

So these were filled with it,

0:15:300:15:32

and then they'd spread it on the dirty mark on the clothing,

0:15:320:15:36

-to get to the mark out.

-When was this?

-So these are very old.

0:15:360:15:39

Yes. Don't you think it is fascinating, like,

0:15:390:15:41

what stories have these got to tell, and...?

0:15:410:15:43

I can't help you there, cos I wasn't born then.

0:15:430:15:45

-I might look as though I was...

-I'm not implying that you were.

0:15:450:15:48

A fascinating find, and there's more,

0:15:480:15:51

much more.

0:15:510:15:52

This is huge!

0:15:520:15:54

This is incredible!

0:15:540:15:55

And you said you were given this?

0:15:550:15:57

By one of the sheikhs of Qatar, who we did a lot of business with,

0:15:570:16:02

and he was over on one of his visits, and he presented it.

0:16:020:16:05

-Oh, so this has come from...Qatar?

-From Qatar.

0:16:050:16:09

From one of the ruling family, yeah.

0:16:090:16:12

Really? I've never seen anything like this before.

0:16:120:16:15

It could be really quite interesting.

0:16:150:16:17

This has come, you know, coming from the ruling families.

0:16:170:16:20

Unfortunately there's

0:16:200:16:21

no sort of written provenance or anything, but...

0:16:210:16:24

Yeah. Quite like this.

0:16:240:16:26

Just goes to show what unexpected treasures are lying about

0:16:260:16:30

in all our attics and sheds.

0:16:300:16:32

I've got some really super finds.

0:16:320:16:34

I really like the Solingen canteen of cutlery.

0:16:340:16:37

Now, it is a shame that it is missing two of the forks there,

0:16:370:16:41

however, I do like it.

0:16:410:16:43

I think it's very stylish.

0:16:430:16:45

It's slightly Art Deco in its look,

0:16:450:16:47

with the use of the triangles and the geometric patterns,

0:16:470:16:50

but I do think it is a much more recent piece.

0:16:500:16:53

I think Izzie's right.

0:16:530:16:55

The German city of Solingen

0:16:550:16:56

has been famous for making swords and knives since medieval times,

0:16:560:17:01

but this can't be more than a few decades old.

0:17:010:17:03

It's good quality, though, so worth around £20.

0:17:030:17:07

We also have here these Victorian clothing stain removers.

0:17:070:17:10

I love the story and the history behind them.

0:17:100:17:13

Also...

0:17:130:17:14

..this Qatar plaque.

0:17:140:17:16

Again, I think it's great and I'm hoping that Paul will, too.

0:17:160:17:20

I do. Both items have got a tale to tell,

0:17:200:17:23

and that kind of provenance makes them instantly appealing.

0:17:230:17:26

They'll definitely be going under the hammer.

0:17:260:17:29

The other thing as well, this stool could be a good one for upcycling.

0:17:290:17:34

So...I would say a successful rummage.

0:17:340:17:37

What's your name, by the way?

0:17:420:17:43

-It's Bob.

-That's quite nice, that little trolley jack.

0:17:430:17:46

Yeah. I've dug that one out. A couple of chairs.

0:17:460:17:49

-A couple of chairs.

-Yeah, a couple of shelves.

0:17:490:17:51

What's that? Is that a fireplace? A fireguard, yeah.

0:17:510:17:54

-That's nice. Oh, we have even got CDs in it.

-We have, haven't we?

0:17:540:17:57

-That's like a drill set.

-Yeah. It's brand-new.

0:17:580:18:01

Now all of a sudden you're showing me crystal glass.

0:18:010:18:04

Johnnie Walker. Got a half dozen there.

0:18:040:18:07

Whether it is old advertising signs, or branded whisky glasses,

0:18:070:18:12

there's a massive hunger out there

0:18:120:18:14

for food and drink-related collectables.

0:18:140:18:16

This set will go down a treat on the pop-up rostrum.

0:18:160:18:19

I don't know if that's any good to you.

0:18:190:18:22

It's a picture of somewhere we went, and I can't remember where we went.

0:18:220:18:27

I tell you what it is, Bob.

0:18:270:18:28

I'm going to be honest with you.

0:18:280:18:30

You don't want it.

0:18:300:18:31

One man's junk is another man's treasure.

0:18:310:18:34

Too true. And we need all the treasure

0:18:340:18:36

we can get our hands on today.

0:18:360:18:38

But now, Danny's taking time out to meet the amazing woman

0:18:390:18:42

we're doing all this for.

0:18:420:18:45

I'm just on my way to see Jo.

0:18:450:18:47

I'm a little bit nervous.

0:18:470:18:49

I don't want to give the game away. Wish me luck.

0:18:490:18:52

So, keep our secret safe, Danny.

0:18:520:18:54

So, tell me, what, I mean, what do you guys actually do here?

0:18:550:18:57

So we're a young people's charity,

0:18:570:18:59

supporting young people with mental health issues.

0:18:590:19:01

The charity was set up when Charley, Jo's son, Pauline's grandson,

0:19:010:19:06

ended his life in 2014.

0:19:060:19:08

And they had this amazing idea... There's Charley up there.

0:19:080:19:11

..to set up a charity.

0:19:110:19:13

Charley obviously had mental health issues.

0:19:130:19:15

He struggled, in particular, for a year before he actually died,

0:19:150:19:19

with attempted suicide missions,

0:19:190:19:23

and then when he did what he did,

0:19:230:19:26

he had 500 people at his funeral.

0:19:260:19:28

Wow!

0:19:280:19:29

He must have been a very popular lad.

0:19:290:19:32

-Charley boy was, yeah.

-Tell me, what keeps you going?

0:19:320:19:35

You know, what...? Where are you getting your strength from?

0:19:350:19:37

I don't know. I had big lows last year, but I've come out of that,

0:19:390:19:44

and we know that was because of the post-traumatic stress disorder,

0:19:440:19:47

-of finding Charley.

-It must be very difficult.

0:19:470:19:50

-Very, very, yeah...

-But you have to keep going

0:19:500:19:53

for my other two children.

0:19:530:19:56

Harry is nearly 20 and Daisy-Mae is nearly 14.

0:19:560:20:01

How did they react to it?

0:20:010:20:03

Daisy was with me when I found Charley.

0:20:030:20:06

-Just 11.

-Just 11, yeah.

-Just turned 11, started secondary school and...

0:20:060:20:10

Well, I'm a parent myself, and it must be overly difficult,

0:20:100:20:14

-very difficult is an understatement.

-Yes.

0:20:140:20:16

How incredible that she does so much

0:20:160:20:19

when her own emotions are clearly still so raw.

0:20:190:20:23

It's going to be really nice if we can do something beautiful for Jo.

0:20:230:20:29

And with not much of their rummage day left,

0:20:290:20:31

Izzie and Danny need to get on with it.

0:20:310:20:34

# Danny boy! Oh, Danny boy! #

0:20:340:20:37

-Thank you.

-Is that OK?

0:20:370:20:39

Glad I've got comfy shoes on, it seems like I'm doing a lot of walking.

0:20:390:20:42

-Oh, thank you.

-That's OK.

0:20:420:20:45

Hold on a minute.

0:20:450:20:47

-There you go.

-I'm going to stay here longer, just chatting,

0:20:470:20:49

more comes at me.

0:20:490:20:51

So the rummage day's done,

0:20:510:20:52

and now it's the exciting moment when we discover

0:20:520:20:55

just what precious pieces we've dug up.

0:20:550:20:58

Remember, we're tying to raise £1,500.

0:20:580:21:01

So, to ensure that the best items get the very best price,

0:21:010:21:05

we're sending them off to the saleroom.

0:21:050:21:07

How do you think you've done, then, Izzie?

0:21:070:21:09

Well, I found it hard but, looking at it,

0:21:090:21:12

I actually think I did really well.

0:21:120:21:13

-Are they silver, these knives?

-No, they're stainless steel,

0:21:130:21:16

but they're Solingen, so it's a nice, good make.

0:21:160:21:18

They are fish servers, so not quite as popular as a canteen of cutlery,

0:21:180:21:22

but I like those.

0:21:220:21:23

What's this here? A tabletop?

0:21:230:21:25

No. Right, this has a story.

0:21:250:21:27

This was given by the royalty of Qatar to

0:21:270:21:30

the gentleman that donated it to us.

0:21:300:21:33

I quite like it, if I'm honest.

0:21:330:21:35

-Well, um...

-It's stylish, have it on your wall.

0:21:350:21:39

-The point being, it was given by royalty.

-Yeah, well, yeah...

0:21:390:21:42

Have you got anything in your pile that was given by royalty? No.

0:21:420:21:45

Can't really argue with that, Danny.

0:21:450:21:47

I think the plaque's probably been pressed rather than hand-beaten,

0:21:470:21:52

so it's not massively valuable.

0:21:520:21:54

But the royal connection sets it apart.

0:21:540:21:57

-That stool's quite nice.

-Yes.

-I do like that, Lloyd Loom-style stool.

0:21:570:22:01

Yes. I was thinking it would be one that we could maybe upcycle.

0:22:010:22:04

There's a good thought.

0:22:040:22:06

I think, on my side, I've got a lot of large furniture items.

0:22:060:22:09

One of my favourites is this great, big seat.

0:22:090:22:11

Quite nice, quite bright, quite funky, in red.

0:22:110:22:14

Another one of my favourites are these two silver birds.

0:22:140:22:17

-Come with me.

-Oh, I do like these.

0:22:170:22:19

They're not solid silver, I mean, they've got a mark at the back.

0:22:190:22:24

You can vaguely see a 925.

0:22:240:22:26

-Yes.

-Of course, that tells you it's Sterling silver.

0:22:260:22:28

Got the anchor for Birmingham.

0:22:280:22:29

You've got better eyes than me, then.

0:22:290:22:31

There are four Assay Offices,

0:22:310:22:33

testing the purity of precious metal in the UK.

0:22:330:22:36

Each has its own stamp - an anchor for Birmingham,

0:22:360:22:39

a lion for London,

0:22:390:22:40

a rose for Sheffield,

0:22:400:22:42

and a castle for Edinburgh.

0:22:420:22:44

It makes them more, dare I say it, desirable.

0:22:440:22:47

Oooh!

0:22:470:22:49

I'm liking the sound of this, Izzie.

0:22:490:22:51

Yes, the birds are beautiful,

0:22:510:22:53

but what I really want to see are the star finds.

0:22:530:22:57

-Izzie first.

-Go on, then. Go and get it. Let's have a look.

0:22:570:23:00

These are stain removers.

0:23:000:23:01

So you stick the cleaning fluid in there, and you then...

0:23:010:23:06

..pop on the area you want to remove the stains from.

0:23:060:23:10

You know what? I actually am not sure if they have

0:23:100:23:12

a huge amount of value or not, but I thought they were so interesting.

0:23:120:23:15

To be honest with you, I've never seen a set of these before.

0:23:150:23:18

No, neither have I.

0:23:180:23:19

I think their novelty value will make them attractive to buyers,

0:23:190:23:23

and make us £20 or more.

0:23:230:23:25

Can Danny's star find do the same?

0:23:250:23:27

-What do you think of that?

-I really like this, Danny.

0:23:280:23:30

You've stuck with the pheasant theme, I see.

0:23:300:23:33

It's Verlux, which is a French manufacturer.

0:23:330:23:36

I mean, I'd put this down to round about the 1940s, 1950s,

0:23:360:23:39

maybe even a little bit earlier.

0:23:390:23:40

It's got this beautiful pearly finish, doesn't it?

0:23:400:23:42

Oh, without a doubt.

0:23:420:23:44

Another unusual item.

0:23:440:23:46

I think both star items can go head-to-head in the saleroom,

0:23:460:23:50

along with Danny's silver birds

0:23:500:23:51

and the canteen of cutlery that Izzie found.

0:23:510:23:54

So, what about the pop-up rostrum?

0:23:540:23:57

-I'd like the red seat, and maybe even the clock.

-Yes.

0:23:570:24:00

I think Izzie's royal plaque is also a contender.

0:24:000:24:04

And once her stool and the chest of drawers donated to Danny

0:24:040:24:08

are upcycled, then they can go in the pop-up auction, too.

0:24:080:24:11

I think we've done really well. But it's left all down to you now.

0:24:110:24:14

I'll be there, too, Danny.

0:24:140:24:16

Their rummage day wasn't that easy, but they've both done really well.

0:24:160:24:20

Still, that's only half the job done,

0:24:200:24:22

because now everything hinges on auction day.

0:24:220:24:25

Setting up a community fair and street auction is no small task,

0:24:370:24:41

and there's absolutely no way I could do it single-handed,

0:24:410:24:45

so Izzie and Danny have been taking turns to help me out.

0:24:450:24:48

Today, Izzie's come along to get the wheels in motion.

0:24:480:24:52

Paul! Look what's just been dropped off.

0:24:530:24:56

Wow! Let me have a go.

0:24:560:24:58

Oh, Paul!

0:24:580:24:59

HE LAUGHS

0:24:590:25:00

Seems to be working.

0:25:020:25:04

I could sell that. I could put that on the rostrum and sell it.

0:25:040:25:07

-OK.

-And hopefully there's 20 quid there. Well done, Izzie.

0:25:070:25:10

We haven't been here long,

0:25:100:25:11

but already you can tell this is a close community.

0:25:110:25:15

One of our largest-ever groups of volunteers

0:25:150:25:17

has shown up to lend a hand.

0:25:170:25:19

Wow! Good morning, everybody.

0:25:210:25:23

-ALL:

-Good morning.

0:25:230:25:24

Well, this looks like a choir. I know you're our volunteers.

0:25:240:25:27

Can you sing as well? Can we double up?

0:25:270:25:30

Big cheer for the Brownies.

0:25:310:25:33

CHEERING

0:25:330:25:34

Are you going to be doing anything,

0:25:350:25:36

sort of just helping out and maybe doing some things?

0:25:360:25:38

-I believe we're helping out and maybe...

-Just helping out.

0:25:380:25:41

-..some games and stuff.

-Some games. Brilliant.

0:25:410:25:43

-Keep other kids entertained.

-Yeah.

-Who's on teas, coffees, and cakes?

0:25:430:25:46

WI here? Brilliant. Fantastic.

0:25:460:25:49

I think today we could do around £150-£200

0:25:490:25:52

-in teas, coffees and cakes.

-Oh, more than that.

0:25:520:25:54

CHEERING

0:25:540:25:55

An army of determined ladies on the cake stall.

0:25:550:25:58

That's a great start.

0:25:580:26:00

Who's going to be doing plants? Who's got green fingers?

0:26:000:26:03

MUTED RESPONSE

0:26:030:26:04

-That was a very weak...

-Me!

-That's better.

0:26:040:26:06

That's Jackie on the plant stall.

0:26:080:26:10

And, with a group, including the wonderful Jo, on bric-a-brac,

0:26:100:26:14

it's looking good.

0:26:140:26:16

-We're up for a challenge, aren't we? Can we do this? ALL:

-Yes!

0:26:160:26:19

Good luck, everyone.

0:26:190:26:21

Sell with a smile on your face and enjoy yourselves.

0:26:210:26:24

Stations!

0:26:240:26:25

While our volunteers get everything shipshape,

0:26:280:26:31

I want to go through the rummage-day spoils.

0:26:310:26:33

Let's have a look at the stuff you and Danny

0:26:350:26:38

managed to liberate from the houses.

0:26:380:26:41

-I like that.

-Yes, I love that one.

0:26:410:26:43

-It's the colour.

-It's fabulous, isn't it?

-Yeah, it is vibrant.

0:26:430:26:46

Yeah, that's in fabulous condition.

0:26:460:26:48

We'll put that on the pop-up rostrum.

0:26:480:26:51

This is a plaque given by the royalty of Qatar

0:26:510:26:53

to this lovely man that I met on the rummage day.

0:26:530:26:55

Right, OK, we'll stick that on the rostrum as well.

0:26:550:26:58

-That's quite pretty, isn't it?

-Picnic blanket.

0:26:580:27:00

Are you thinking pop-up?

0:27:000:27:01

I am, actually. I think that's a splash of colour.

0:27:010:27:03

That's all hand-crocheted, isn't it? Look at that.

0:27:030:27:06

A lot of work's gone into it, hasn't it?

0:27:060:27:07

I think there's 20 quid there.

0:27:070:27:10

It's nice to see that Danny and Izzie found enough to keep things

0:27:100:27:13

interesting on the pop-up rostrum.

0:27:130:27:15

We'll find out later if it's enough.

0:27:150:27:18

But now's my chance to get to know the woman we're doing it all for.

0:27:180:27:21

Jo's just over there. Let's have a quick chat. Wish me luck.

0:27:230:27:26

-Good luck, everyone, today. Wow! Already?

-Already, yeah.

0:27:270:27:30

-We haven't even cut the ribbon.

-No, it was a head start.

0:27:300:27:33

Feeling confident? Happy? Happy about the stalls?

0:27:330:27:36

-Yeah.

-Going to make some money?

-Lots of money.

0:27:360:27:38

-What's your name?

-I'm Jo.

0:27:380:27:40

-What's your name?

-Daisy-Mae.

0:27:400:27:41

Daisy-Mae, that's a fantastic name.

0:27:410:27:43

How long have you lived here in the area, then?

0:27:430:27:45

-For ever.

-Have you, born and bred?

-Mm-hm.

-Good area?

0:27:450:27:48

Must be, otherwise you'd move away, wouldn't you, really? Let's face it.

0:27:480:27:51

Yeah, no, it's a good place to live.

0:27:510:27:53

Will the community turn up today? You know it better than anyone.

0:27:530:27:56

Yes, I think they will, yeah.

0:27:560:27:57

And what do you do? Tell me about the charity.

0:27:570:28:00

OK, so...

0:28:000:28:01

..Charley, my son, there,

0:28:010:28:04

completed suicide two and a half years ago.

0:28:040:28:07

-Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.

-Thank you.

0:28:070:28:09

So I wanted... Obviously Charley had mental health problems

0:28:090:28:13

and was failed quite badly in the whole system,

0:28:130:28:15

so I wanted to set up a charity to make sure that there's

0:28:150:28:18

no other...well, there's less Charleys out there, so...

0:28:180:28:22

Oh... What a good-looking guy.

0:28:220:28:24

Thank you. He was beautiful.

0:28:240:28:27

-Thank you for helping out today.

-Thank you. It's OK.

0:28:270:28:29

Every penny helps, OK? So, sell like mad, won't you?

0:28:290:28:31

-Yeah.

-Good luck. I'll see you all later.

-Thank you.

-Take care.

0:28:310:28:35

Wow, I mean...

0:28:360:28:38

..what a mum. What a hero, really.

0:28:380:28:41

Now you know why we're doing this, and it's got to work.

0:28:410:28:44

And with the fair opening all too soon, it's got to work fast.

0:28:470:28:51

These look fantastic.

0:28:510:28:53

If I said, "How much is that lampshade?" what would you say?

0:28:530:28:56

I'd say a pound.

0:28:560:28:58

You've done really well. It's looking good.

0:28:580:29:01

-I love that suit.

-Thank you.

-Wow! That is rocking!

0:29:010:29:05

This is looking great.

0:29:050:29:07

Told you we would.

0:29:110:29:12

We haven't even cut the ribbon yet.

0:29:120:29:15

You did. I said I was hoping for £150-£200, and you went,

0:29:150:29:19

"We'll easily do more than that," didn't you?

0:29:190:29:23

LAUGHTER

0:29:230:29:24

Everything's finally ready,

0:29:260:29:28

excitement's mounting by the minute,

0:29:280:29:31

our moment has come.

0:29:310:29:33

Let's get this party started!

0:29:330:29:35

-ALL:

-Five, four, three, two, one...

0:29:350:29:40

Good luck.

0:29:400:29:41

CHEERING

0:29:410:29:42

This is a truly extraordinary sight.

0:29:460:29:49

The people of Burnham-on-Sea are here in their hundreds

0:29:490:29:53

and all of this is for one very special member of the community.

0:29:530:29:57

It really does feel incredibly uplifting.

0:29:570:30:01

High five. Good boy.

0:30:010:30:03

Gosh, so many people here, I can't even find Izzie.

0:30:030:30:07

What are we doing here? Throwing hoops over the poles?

0:30:100:30:13

-Yeah.

-What's the prize?

0:30:130:30:15

-Sweets.

-Sweets.

-Sweets, OK.

0:30:150:30:17

Oh, look, there's one sweet.

0:30:170:30:19

There's two.

0:30:190:30:21

Yay!

0:30:210:30:23

Would you be impressed if this was your card?

0:30:230:30:25

-How did you do that?

-It's magic.

0:30:260:30:28

What we're doing here -

0:30:290:30:31

we're not just bringing people together in the community,

0:30:310:30:35

we're bringing the pets together as well.

0:30:350:30:38

And they're all having a good time, aren't you?

0:30:380:30:40

Yes, of course you are.

0:30:400:30:42

Are you going to buy her lots of toys today?

0:30:420:30:44

Yes. Daddy's going to buy you lots of toys.

0:30:440:30:47

Not only are the people spending their money,

0:30:480:30:51

there are still incredible donations coming in.

0:30:510:30:54

-Is this your artwork?

-It is, yeah.

0:30:560:30:58

Is this for us to auction off? Thank you!

0:30:580:31:00

-You're absolutely welcome to it.

-Thank you.

0:31:000:31:03

Look at this!

0:31:030:31:05

Somebody has kindly turned up with a brand-new table,

0:31:050:31:10

umbrella and four patio chairs.

0:31:100:31:13

And this is all going under the rostrum later.

0:31:130:31:17

And I'll be aiming to get close to £100 for it.

0:31:170:31:20

I'm also hoping to make a packet on our upcycled pieces.

0:31:200:31:24

On our rummage day, Danny found an old and unremarkable bedside table.

0:31:240:31:29

A quick paint job has brought it right up to date.

0:31:290:31:31

-Nice olive green.

-Yeah.

0:31:310:31:33

-Nice modern colour.

-That's pretty cool, actually, isn't it?

0:31:330:31:37

My son would like that, because it's more of an Army colour.

0:31:370:31:40

Oh, OK. I call it olive, you call it Army.

0:31:400:31:42

I call it camo.

0:31:420:31:44

Whatever shade we settle on,

0:31:440:31:46

I think there's at least £10 to be made on it.

0:31:460:31:49

Izzie's upcycling find was a drab-looking stool,

0:31:490:31:52

but some re-upholstery and a neutral tone have transformed it.

0:31:520:31:57

A sort of shabby chic look to it.

0:31:570:31:59

I think that's brilliant.

0:31:590:32:01

Yes, it's on-trend, and on course

0:32:010:32:03

to make us at least £5 on the pop-up auction.

0:32:030:32:06

Encouraging stuff.

0:32:060:32:08

It's absolutely heaving here

0:32:080:32:10

but I want to know if the crowds are parting with their cash.

0:32:100:32:14

How much have you taken, roughly? Ballpark figure.

0:32:140:32:16

About £100, I would think.

0:32:160:32:18

How are we doing over here?

0:32:180:32:19

-We're doing very well, thank you.

-Yeah?

0:32:190:32:22

-How much have you taken?

-Over £100 now.

-Really?

-Yeah.

0:32:220:32:25

How much have you taken?

0:32:250:32:27

Roughly, roughly!

0:32:270:32:30

I'd say about £200.

0:32:300:32:32

-Well done.

-More!

-A lot more?

0:32:320:32:35

-A lot more.

-How much more?

-About 300.

0:32:350:32:37

That is brilliant. If we can double that, we're doing extremely well.

0:32:370:32:41

-But we haven't got anything left.

-Get baking!

0:32:410:32:43

We're not just depending on cupcakes and coffee

0:32:450:32:48

to take us over the finish line.

0:32:480:32:50

Our best rummage-day items went off to a saleroom.

0:32:500:32:54

Jo's dad, George, sat in to

0:32:540:32:55

see how they fared with auctioneer Gavin Aplin.

0:32:550:32:59

The canteen of cutlery is first.

0:33:010:33:03

Despite being incomplete, it's still got an estimate of £20-£30.

0:33:030:33:08

£10, thank you, sir.

0:33:080:33:10

£10. At £10, chasing 12.

0:33:100:33:12

At 10, after 12. At 14, thank you.

0:33:120:33:15

After 16, in the room, then.

0:33:150:33:16

-Dead centre.

-GAVEL BANGS

0:33:160:33:19

Those missing pieces have definitely put a dent in the price.

0:33:190:33:23

Will the pair of silver birds take off?

0:33:230:33:25

Estimate, £25-£40.

0:33:250:33:28

Straight in at £32.

0:33:280:33:30

Do I see four now, please?

0:33:300:33:32

£32, chasing 4. 6 with me, come back 8, please.

0:33:320:33:35

And 40, come back 2, please.

0:33:350:33:37

At £40, show me 2. 42 on my screen. Where is my 4 now, please?

0:33:370:33:41

£42. Do I see 4, then, please?

0:33:410:33:43

At 42, selling to the internet.

0:33:430:33:45

-Are you sure?

-GAVEL BANGS

0:33:450:33:47

Flying above the top estimate. I love it.

0:33:470:33:50

And with Izzie and Danny's star finds coming up,

0:33:500:33:53

things are about to get competitive.

0:33:530:33:54

Our auctioneer thinks Izzie's bronze stain removers

0:33:560:33:59

may actually be incense burners.

0:33:590:34:01

Either way, they look set to clean up with an estimate of £50-£80.

0:34:010:34:06

These are stunning items.

0:34:060:34:08

Who will start me at £30, then, please?

0:34:080:34:10

At £30.

0:34:100:34:11

20.

0:34:110:34:13

£20 on the internet, thank you.

0:34:130:34:15

This is a cracking price.

0:34:150:34:16

Surely, somebody for 22 anywhere, please.

0:34:160:34:18

At 22, thank you, sir.

0:34:180:34:20

£22, after 4 and 6, sir. Thank you. Show me 8.

0:34:200:34:24

At 26, after 8, and 30, sir?

0:34:240:34:26

No. Shake of the head. 30, 32.

0:34:260:34:27

The internet is moving. 32, after 4.

0:34:270:34:30

A surprising result, that.

0:34:330:34:34

Can Danny's bowl match up to its estimate of £60-£100?

0:34:340:34:39

60 and away then, please.

0:34:390:34:41

65, then. Where is 70 coming from, please?

0:34:410:34:43

65, show me 70.

0:34:430:34:45

Back of the room, thank you, sir.

0:34:450:34:46

5. Come back, internet, if you wish. £70. Back of the room.

0:34:460:34:49

Do I see 5 anywhere, please? At 70, after 5.

0:34:490:34:52

At £70, looking for 5, then, are you sure?

0:34:520:34:55

So, Danny's star find shines more brightly on the day,

0:34:560:34:59

bringing our saleroom total to a cracking £158.

0:34:590:35:05

Yay!

0:35:180:35:20

Goal!

0:35:200:35:22

There you go. Get in the rhythm.

0:35:260:35:28

Oh, I was just going to join in then. I was just going to join in.

0:35:280:35:32

The party atmosphere hasn't faded one bit at our fair.

0:35:320:35:36

Well done, anyway. Well done. Thank you.

0:35:420:35:44

I tell you what, this'll speed things up.

0:35:470:35:48

I've got to get around and, you know, collect some money, so...

0:35:480:35:52

But something's telling me Jo has cottoned on.

0:36:000:36:03

Time for a conflab with her friend, Dawn.

0:36:030:36:06

Well, how's it going?

0:36:060:36:08

-We're doing good.

-I came over here to have a chat with you

0:36:100:36:12

cos I saw Jo was next to you,

0:36:120:36:14

but she saw me walking over and she's just shot off.

0:36:140:36:16

-Obviously.

-Yeah?

-Yeah.

0:36:160:36:17

Does that mean she's either really camera-shy

0:36:170:36:20

-or she's twigging what's going on?

-She has no clue.

0:36:200:36:23

She'll be in the opposite direction to wherever the camera is,

0:36:230:36:25

I can guarantee. We'll get there, don't you worry.

0:36:250:36:28

We'll get there. Good luck.

0:36:280:36:29

-Keep up the good work.

-Thank you.

0:36:290:36:32

That's a relief.

0:36:320:36:33

And with less than ten minutes to go before the stalls close...

0:36:330:36:36

Everything is 50p!

0:36:360:36:38

..we don't have to keep our secret for too much longer.

0:36:380:36:41

Ladies and gentlemen, the stalls are now officially closed.

0:36:460:36:51

So now we just have to sit, wait and hope

0:36:510:36:54

that we've made enough money on the stalls.

0:36:540:36:57

While the team are counting the cash,

0:36:570:36:59

I'm off to find Jo's dad, George.

0:36:590:37:02

How's it going? How's it going over there?

0:37:020:37:04

Well, I'm overwhelmed with the response here.

0:37:040:37:06

I mean, from the good public of Burnham.

0:37:060:37:09

But this is what we do here.

0:37:090:37:10

You know, it's... I knew there would be a good response.

0:37:100:37:14

So far today, I've only managed to have one quick chat with Jo,

0:37:140:37:18

and every time I steer towards her, she sort of curves and swerves away.

0:37:180:37:23

So she knows... I think she's camera-shy.

0:37:230:37:26

She knows I want to talk to her.

0:37:260:37:27

She's always been very modest, very sort of humble.

0:37:270:37:31

She knows that she has become quite well-known over this charity, so...

0:37:310:37:35

-She also isn't stupid, is she?

-No, she's not.

0:37:350:37:38

But I'm still convinced she hasn't got a clue

0:37:380:37:40

as to what this is all about.

0:37:400:37:42

Thank goodness for that.

0:37:420:37:43

In any case, it's not long now before we spring our surprise on Jo.

0:37:430:37:47

But if we haven't raised enough cash already, our plans will fall flat.

0:37:470:37:52

Time to find out how we've done.

0:37:520:37:54

We now have a total. What is it?

0:37:540:37:56

-Absolutely incredible. £1,210.

-Yes!

0:37:560:38:00

A good result. And remember, we also pulled in £158 at the saleroom,

0:38:000:38:06

making our total so far - £1,368.

0:38:060:38:11

So I need to make at least £132 on the rostrum.

0:38:110:38:16

Let's smash it, shall we?

0:38:160:38:17

-Let's do it.

-Come on, let's smash it.

0:38:170:38:20

This is always a nerve-racking moment.

0:38:200:38:23

That is what I call a fantastic crowd of people,

0:38:230:38:25

waiting for an auction to start.

0:38:250:38:27

I'm hoping to kick off with at least £10

0:38:270:38:29

for Izzie's unusual Middle Eastern plaque.

0:38:290:38:33

£5 anywhere? Thank you.

0:38:330:38:34

Straight in. Six, seven now.

0:38:340:38:36

Seven. Come on, this has got a royal connection.

0:38:360:38:38

Eight. Nine.

0:38:380:38:40

10. 12. Thank you, 12. 14?

0:38:400:38:42

14. You're out. It's with you, 14 now, sir, thank you.

0:38:420:38:45

14. It's against you, sir. Can I take 16?

0:38:450:38:48

£16 is with me now.

0:38:480:38:50

£18 is with you, sir. And I'm selling at 18.

0:38:500:38:52

It's going once...twice...

0:38:520:38:54

Sold. Thank you.

0:38:540:38:56

Not a bad way to get the ball rolling.

0:38:560:38:58

Can the spelter clock go one better?

0:38:580:39:01

Showing here. What's it worth, Izzie?

0:39:010:39:03

Oh, at least £30, Paul.

0:39:030:39:05

At least £30, there you go. You heard it from our expert.

0:39:050:39:08

Thank you, straight in, ten.

0:39:080:39:09

20? 25?

0:39:090:39:11

You're out. 25 anywhere?

0:39:110:39:13

We have a bid of 20. Thank you, 25, sir.

0:39:130:39:15

I believe that's your clock, isn't it? He's buying it back. 25.

0:39:150:39:18

It's against you now.

0:39:180:39:20

30. You're out.

0:39:200:39:22

£30, and I am selling at 30.

0:39:220:39:24

It's going back home.

0:39:240:39:25

Once, twice...

0:39:250:39:27

..sold. Thank you.

0:39:270:39:29

So, back it goes to Simon's study for Izzie's predicted price of £30.

0:39:290:39:34

Next, the bike donated earlier.

0:39:340:39:37

I've actually cycled around on it. It's pretty good. It works.

0:39:370:39:40

Who's going to start me off with a bid of £10?

0:39:400:39:42

10, 12, 15.

0:39:420:39:44

£15, it's with you at the back, madam.

0:39:440:39:46

15. 20.

0:39:460:39:47

Thank you, 20. Can I take 22?

0:39:470:39:49

Thank you. 22, 25.

0:39:490:39:51

28? Yeah, thank you, a nod of the head.

0:39:510:39:53

28 against you now. 30. 30.

0:39:530:39:55

Are you out now? £30, it's with me.

0:39:550:39:57

And I'm selling at 30.

0:39:570:39:59

35. 36. 40. Thank you.

0:39:590:40:01

40. 45. Keep your hand up and I 'm selling at 45.

0:40:010:40:05

Once...twice...gone.

0:40:050:40:07

And now it feels like we're really freewheeling to our target,

0:40:070:40:11

with the stylish cube stool making a comfortable price...

0:40:110:40:14

£30. And I'm selling at 30. Sold.

0:40:140:40:17

..the home-made blanket stitching up a tidy profit...

0:40:170:40:21

£18. And I'm selling at 18.

0:40:210:40:23

Sold. Thank you.

0:40:230:40:24

..and the painting donated at the fair drawing plenty of interest.

0:40:240:40:28

£65. Going...gone.

0:40:280:40:32

And now it's time to see if our upcycling can turn heads,

0:40:320:40:35

starting with the bedside cabinet, easily worth a tenner.

0:40:350:40:38

Who's going to start me off with a bid of £5?

0:40:380:40:41

Thank you, sir. Straight in. Once, twice...

0:40:410:40:43

Sold. Thank you. £5.

0:40:430:40:46

Well, someone's got a bargain there.

0:40:460:40:48

Next, the revamped stool.

0:40:480:40:50

Thank you, madam. Three, four... Can I take five? Five.

0:40:500:40:53

One more bid. You're out.

0:40:530:40:54

I'm selling at four...

0:40:540:40:55

£400, once!

0:40:550:40:57

LAUGHTER

0:40:570:40:58

..twice... And my rostrum is falling apart.

0:40:580:41:01

Sold!

0:41:010:41:02

Maybe not the kind of prices

0:41:030:41:04

that will blow our target out of the water,

0:41:040:41:07

but without our upcycling, those pieces would have made us nothing.

0:41:070:41:11

Last lot of the day, the patio set, donated earlier,

0:41:120:41:16

worth £200 in the shops.

0:41:160:41:18

Surely we're in with a chance of getting three figures for it?

0:41:180:41:22

30 anywhere? Come on, £30.

0:41:220:41:24

Thank you, straight in, 30.

0:41:240:41:25

40. 50 now, madam.

0:41:250:41:27

50. Thank you. A nod of the head.

0:41:270:41:28

60? £70 now.

0:41:280:41:30

Thank you, madam. 80.

0:41:300:41:32

Thank you. 80.

0:41:320:41:33

90. It's against you now, madam.

0:41:330:41:35

100. Fair warning, I'm selling at £100.

0:41:350:41:38

Any further advances on £100?

0:41:380:41:41

Gone.

0:41:410:41:42

Well, we've galloped to a strong finish,

0:41:420:41:44

but £1,500 is a lot of money to raise.

0:41:440:41:48

It's just impossible to say if we've done enough.

0:41:480:41:52

Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for being so generous.

0:41:520:41:55

We set out to raise £1,500 here today.

0:41:550:41:59

We didn't get £1,500.

0:41:590:42:01

You guys smashed it.

0:42:010:42:03

We got £1,976!

0:42:030:42:07

CHEERING

0:42:070:42:08

Nearly two grand. Thank you! Thank you so much!

0:42:080:42:12

Over the last few weeks, we've heard some fantastic stories

0:42:120:42:17

about the person we're helping here today.

0:42:170:42:19

This person has been strong, this person has a family,

0:42:190:42:23

they've had to soldier on despite their own tragedies,

0:42:230:42:26

and helping others.

0:42:260:42:28

All of the young people in the area, they've been supporting,

0:42:280:42:32

they've been guiding,

0:42:320:42:33

and I am working my way closer and closer,

0:42:330:42:36

I am getting right up to her.

0:42:360:42:39

Jo Clement, this is all for you.

0:42:390:42:42

All of this, all of these people are here for you.

0:42:420:42:45

Enjoy this moment, Jo.

0:42:450:42:46

Read it out, Dad, come on.

0:42:460:42:48

"To Jo, we all think you are wonderful

0:42:480:42:51

"and want to show you how much we appreciate you and all you do.

0:42:510:42:56

"So we have raised enough money to send you, Daisy and Harry

0:42:560:43:00

"on a special weekend trip away,

0:43:000:43:02

"to relax and enjoy some quality time together.

0:43:020:43:06

"With much love from all your friends, family and neighbours."

0:43:060:43:10

CHEERING

0:43:100:43:11

Would you like to say something? Can you say something?

0:43:170:43:22

Thank you for being you, and fighting every day to keep going,

0:43:220:43:26

because you really do do an amazing job.

0:43:260:43:28

I love you.

0:43:280:43:30

It means a lot to her.

0:43:340:43:36

It was just awesome.

0:43:360:43:38

The people in the area,

0:43:380:43:40

I'd just take my hat off to them, if I had a hat on.

0:43:400:43:44

Thank you.

0:43:440:43:46

Through this journey, at times she has felt like she's massively alone

0:43:460:43:50

and the support that she's had today shows her that she's not.

0:43:500:43:53

It's just amazing.

0:43:530:43:55

It will be just lovely to see Harry and Daisy smiling.

0:43:570:44:01

I'm proud of you. Really proud of you.

0:44:030:44:06

It's wonderful just to see Jo

0:44:090:44:10

surrounded by her family, friends and loved ones.

0:44:100:44:12

Keep watching, because we could be in your neighbourhood the next time,

0:44:120:44:15

and this street auction could be for you.

0:44:150:44:17

Goodbye.

0:44:170:44:19

Jo, Harry and Daisy-Mae decided to spend precious time together

0:44:190:44:24

on weekends away in Dublin and in London.
