Hello and welcome to
The One Show with Greg James. | 0:00:17 | 0:00:19
And Alex Jones, and we're counting
down to what we hope will be | 0:00:19 | 0:00:23
the biggest Children In Need ever! | 0:00:23 | 0:00:27
CHEERING | 0:00:27 | 0:00:33
There's just 30 minutes to go
and we are the official warm-up act. | 0:00:33 | 0:00:37
And the stars of our show tonight
are, of course, Team Rickshaw, | 0:00:37 | 0:00:39
because, after nine days on the
road, facing freezing temperatures, | 0:00:39 | 0:00:43
heavy rain and far too many hills,
they're due to complete | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
their epic 500-mile ride
to the Clyde later tonight. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:50
APPLAUSE | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
Their proud friends and family
are waiting for them at the finish | 0:00:53 | 0:00:56
line in Glasgow and we'll find out
how they're handling the final few | 0:00:56 | 0:00:59
miles a little later. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:01
A brilliant turnout. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03
Our guests in the studio have been
on a bit of a journey themselves | 0:01:03 | 0:01:07
for Children In Need.
Well, if you count bringing | 0:01:07 | 0:01:09
Walford to the West End. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:12
# Such a sky you never did see
# And put it in a box for me | 0:01:18 | 0:01:25
# Please welcome Christopher Ajer
Timothy -- Christopher Timothy, | 0:01:25 | 0:01:32
delete keeper -- Tilly Keeper and
Dean Gaffney. We're going to see a | 0:01:32 | 0:01:39
performance later. How are you
feeling about it, is it they hide | 0:01:39 | 0:01:43
behind the sofa moment or are you
proud? I'm really excited to see it. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:47
Is the first we've seen it. What did
you think? I thought I had some good | 0:01:47 | 0:01:52
moves! We're going to see more
later. It will change his career! | 0:01:52 | 0:01:57
I'm serious. It's the start of
something. It is the last push for | 0:01:57 | 0:02:04
Team Rickshaw as they make their way
from Edinburgh to Glasgow and this | 0:02:04 | 0:02:08
is how the day has gone so far. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:10
Oh, my work is happening, it's
happening, everyone. We are about to | 0:02:14 | 0:02:18
leave our final start line of this
challenge. It's been a heck of a | 0:02:18 | 0:02:23
bike ride from London to Glasgow.
Goodbye! The team have loved every | 0:02:23 | 0:02:27
minute and it is sad it is coming to
a close. It's the last day! Ooh! | 0:02:27 | 0:02:36
Don't be sad. I'm going to miss
everyone. 56 miles. We're going to | 0:02:36 | 0:02:45
have a party every mile. | 0:02:45 | 0:02:48
ROCK MUSIC | 0:02:49 | 0:02:54
from one last party to one more
surprise and for the Doctor Who fan, | 0:02:57 | 0:03:03
Shona, luckily it isn't a Dalek.
Because you'd been so epic... It is | 0:03:03 | 0:03:08
the Doctor himself. You deserve a
treat. Shona, you did it! Shona, | 0:03:08 | 0:03:13
Shona, Shona! You should be really
proud of yourself. What a job, | 0:03:13 | 0:03:18
goodbye! Wow! What do you make of
that? Good! I'm happy. Greg is 18 | 0:03:18 | 0:03:34
and from Dunfermline. When he was
nine his dad tragically died. My dad | 0:03:34 | 0:03:39
was in hospital for quite a few
months. And then they sent him home. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:45
I've seen him struggling to breathe.
The hospital came in and from there | 0:03:45 | 0:03:52
we were told he'd died. Then Greg
moved from Poland to Scotland with | 0:03:52 | 0:03:59
his mum and after finding a new
partner she began to neglect him. My | 0:03:59 | 0:04:05
mum wasn't really looking after me,
she doesn't feed me and I started | 0:04:05 | 0:04:10
living on the couch. I was wearing
shoes that word two sizes down. My | 0:04:10 | 0:04:18
mum just turned her back on me and
said, I want nothing to do with him, | 0:04:18 | 0:04:25
take him away. Do you ever think
about how you managed to get | 0:04:25 | 0:04:31
through? You sit and cry sometimes,
thinking why did all that happen? | 0:04:31 | 0:04:38
Why did I have to go away from all
my family and friends. Being told my | 0:04:38 | 0:04:46
life is going to get better and it
was the worst. Thinking what it | 0:04:46 | 0:04:50
would be like if my dad wasn't dead.
Because when my dad was alive there | 0:04:50 | 0:04:56
was nothing like that going on ever.
Thankfully Greg was taken into | 0:04:56 | 0:05:01
foster care and he is life got
better. | 0:05:01 | 0:05:03
How does that make you live your
life now? Now I have a better life. | 0:05:03 | 0:05:09
I think about the people who helped
myself. You always look for | 0:05:09 | 0:05:13
positives in bad things. My dad
taught me how a bike when I was | 0:05:13 | 0:05:18
younger. I think he'd be very proud
of me doing this. Every year, I'm | 0:05:18 | 0:05:25
bowled over by the riders that we
have an The Rickshaw Challenge. | 0:05:25 | 0:05:32
Every single one of them has just
got their heads down and worked as | 0:05:32 | 0:05:36
hard as they possibly can. | 0:05:36 | 0:05:39
got their heads down and worked as
hard as they possibly can. | 0:05:39 | 0:05:39
got their heads down and worked as
hard as they possibly can. They are | 0:05:39 | 0:05:41
just incredibly inspirational and
they will go | 0:05:41 | 0:05:45
just incredibly inspirational and
they will go on to do great things | 0:05:45 | 0:05:47
in their lives because they've got
what it takes. | 0:05:47 | 0:05:50
in their lives because they've got
what it takes. Let's see it for Team | 0:05:50 | 0:05:52
Rickshaw, everyone! CHEERING | 0:05:52 | 0:05:56

this while I still can. You go, | 0:05:59 | 0:06:08

invincible right now. Team Rickshaw! | 0:06:08 | 0:06:21

A brilliant week. Preparations are

CHEERING
Yes, you are mailing this now! Yes, | 0:07:30 | 0:07:37
welcome to the banks of the Clyde ea
in Glasgow. This is the final | 0:07:37 | 0:07:42
destination for Team Rickshaw. We
have our choir. Boka miasma, we're | 0:07:42 | 0:07:47
getting the party started. We have
something else that is very | 0:07:47 | 0:07:52
important, a remarkable finish line.
This is what the riders have been | 0:07:52 | 0:07:56
thinking about over nine days, 500
miles. It comes down to this, | 0:07:56 | 0:08:01
they'll be here later and to cheer
them in, their family and friends. | 0:08:01 | 0:08:05
We've just seen Greg and his film
just now. It's been incredible so | 0:08:05 | 0:08:09
let's speak to you guys, Greg's. Mum
and dad. He has earned himself a | 0:08:09 | 0:08:15
nickname, the king of the hills.
Phenomenal, Lake District and | 0:08:15 | 0:08:20
Scotland. Surprised by the strength?
Not really, Greg is the kind of | 0:08:20 | 0:08:24
person who goes out there and does
what he wants to do. That's the kind | 0:08:24 | 0:08:27
of person he is. Very determined? So
determined, and very strong! You can | 0:08:27 | 0:08:34
be very proud of him. I'm going onto
Sabah's mum and that. Last night | 0:08:34 | 0:08:40
Sabah said that she felt invincible.
What is it like to hear that as a | 0:08:40 | 0:08:47
parent? Amazing, I never thought I'd
hear her say that. The positivity | 0:08:47 | 0:08:53
and strength she's gained from The
Rickshaw Challenge, the best, | 0:08:53 | 0:08:56
totally amazing. Wow. And she's a
confident young lady but this has | 0:08:56 | 0:09:02
helped her even more. Yeah, she is.
Fantastic. Alex, you are Luke's | 0:09:02 | 0:09:09
brother, we've seen from Luke at the
grief is very raw and fresh as it is | 0:09:09 | 0:09:13
for the whole family. How has this
helped in processing the grief? The | 0:09:13 | 0:09:19
whole thing has been one large
therapy session for the lot of us. | 0:09:19 | 0:09:24
Having it out in the open forces us
to deal with the emotions coming | 0:09:24 | 0:09:27
with grieving, for all of us, it has
really helped. It has brought us | 0:09:27 | 0:09:34
much closer together. Please to hear
it. It has been a huge challenge and | 0:09:34 | 0:09:42
we don't just get them to ride on
the rickshaw, we give the riders a | 0:09:42 | 0:09:46
chance to say why they wanted to be
involved. Tonight it is then's turn | 0:09:46 | 0:09:51
and he took to the X Factor stage.
-- it is Ben's turn. | 0:09:51 | 0:09:58
I'd like to introduce two people
with a different kind of star | 0:10:01 | 0:10:04
quality, it is Amy, in Simon's check
and her brother, Ben. Give it up for | 0:10:04 | 0:10:11
Ben, everyone. -- in Simon's chair.
Hello, I'm Ben I'm 16 and I live in | 0:10:11 | 0:10:21
North Wales with my mum, my dad, my
brother, two sisters, three dogs, | 0:10:21 | 0:10:26
lots of sheep and Davey chickens!
I've always been very close to my | 0:10:26 | 0:10:33
sister, Amy -- and a feud chickens.
Going out she always looked after | 0:10:33 | 0:10:37
me. When she was 14 she was
diagnosed with a syndrome that is | 0:10:37 | 0:10:43
very rare. Children with this
condition normally only live for | 0:10:43 | 0:10:46
eight years but thankfully, Amy is
still here. She used to be able to | 0:10:46 | 0:10:53
run, climb and talk. But now she
can't walk and even struggles to | 0:10:53 | 0:10:57
eat. It's heartbreaking to see how
tough her life has become. I help | 0:10:57 | 0:11:04
her around in her wheelchair and
look after her the best I can. She | 0:11:04 | 0:11:08
makes me smile all the time and I
feel lucky to have her in my life. | 0:11:08 | 0:11:13
Mum started a charity called Amy and
friends, which tries to support | 0:11:13 | 0:11:18
sibling carers like me who may be
struggling, and to help other young | 0:11:18 | 0:11:22
people going through similar
situations. This year I'm taking | 0:11:22 | 0:11:27
part in the Children in Need
Rickshaw Challenge. I want to do it | 0:11:27 | 0:11:33
for my sister, Amy, and others with
the same condition. We'd love to be | 0:11:33 | 0:11:36
able to do something so physical but
can't -- they'd love to be able to | 0:11:36 | 0:11:41
do something. Every penny you give
makes a difference. Thank you. | 0:11:41 | 0:11:48
I'm delighted to say that we have
Amy and Ben's family here. Amy, you | 0:11:57 | 0:12:03
are a big fan of X Factor so that
must have been incredible? Yeah. I'm | 0:12:03 | 0:12:09
so pleased for you. Ben's mum, he's
a very sweet and caring boy, | 0:12:09 | 0:12:14
incredible compassion and he's
clearly very motivated by his love | 0:12:14 | 0:12:19
for his sister but lots of others at
your charity. The is, he wears his | 0:12:19 | 0:12:27
heart on his sleeve. This week we
have lost four of our young people, | 0:12:27 | 0:12:31
Ben has known that and it has
encouraged him to keep going for | 0:12:31 | 0:12:37
those children with this syndrome
and illness. All of the families who | 0:12:37 | 0:12:40
have been behind him, even those who
lost Jordan, and we are so grateful. | 0:12:40 | 0:12:46
-- lost children. He knew about
those children who have been lost | 0:12:46 | 0:12:50
and it was pushing him on.
Compelling stuff, thank you. Luke's | 0:12:50 | 0:12:55
family, given that this was a kid
who not long ago had to teach | 0:12:55 | 0:12:59
himself to walk again, did you ever
think you'd be standing here | 0:12:59 | 0:13:03
tonight, and he's gone 500 miles on
a bike? I can't wait to see him but | 0:13:03 | 0:13:08
no, I never thought we'd be here.
When Luke was picked to do the | 0:13:08 | 0:13:12
challenge all he wanted do was show
other children with Zverev palsy | 0:13:12 | 0:13:15
that they can achieve amazing things
and I think he's done that -- | 0:13:15 | 0:13:20
cerebral palsy. Shona's family, we
spoke to you last night. What on | 0:13:20 | 0:13:26
earth have you done to your car?
Decorated my 70s classic Citroen as | 0:13:26 | 0:13:35
Pudsey and we raised over £1000 with
our very own Stig. Thanks, guys. | 0:13:35 | 0:13:45
They should be here in 90 minutes.
Give us a wave, crowd. Tallo! To | 0:13:45 | 0:13:51
keep them all we have the choir. So,
take it away. | 0:13:51 | 0:13:55
# I'm a racing car
# There's no stopping me. If | 0:14:04 | 0:14:14
families and parents are going to be
so relieved to see the team going | 0:14:14 | 0:14:20
over the finish line. I'm sure it
will be the highlight of the night. | 0:14:20 | 0:14:24
Extraordinary. It is. In 17 minutes,
Children in Need will kick off and | 0:14:24 | 0:14:31
as ever we are promised a night of
famous faces making us laugh, smile | 0:14:31 | 0:14:34
and cry. The question is, which
category do you lot fall into? Come | 0:14:34 | 0:14:42
on, Dean? We don't want to give too
much away. But here it is the bit of | 0:14:42 | 0:14:47
what you've been up to four Children
in Need. | 0:14:47 | 0:14:51
# He's getting married in the
morning | 0:14:51 | 0:14:56
# Ding-dong, the bells are going to
chime | 0:14:56 | 0:15:01 | |
# Let's have a whopper
# And get me to the church on time | 0:15:01 | 0:15:14
# Step, step, step, step, step,
step, step | 0:15:14 | 0:15:21
# | 0:15:21 | 0:15:25 | |
We saw in the clip, I'm going to the
first bit, giving it some welly! | 0:15:28 | 0:15:34
Always. It was nice to see it was
shot differently, obviously in | 0:15:34 | 0:15:39
EastEnders we filmed in HD but that
is ultra HD. It looks amazing. You | 0:15:39 | 0:15:45
got a really busy schedule on
EastEnders so where did you fit that | 0:15:45 | 0:15:51
in? On a Saturday. In one day?! It
was pre-recorded which meant, I | 0:15:51 | 0:16:00
can't speak for the rest because
there are some voices you will hear | 0:16:00 | 0:16:05
that are to die for, wonderful
singers. That's not how you would | 0:16:05 | 0:16:11
describe me! But pre-recorded means
you can do it again and again. Even | 0:16:11 | 0:16:16
I sound almost acceptable! I'm
delighted and I think it looks | 0:16:16 | 0:16:22
fantastic. Tilly, you are no
stranger to the West End, you must | 0:16:22 | 0:16:28
have loved it. I love musicals
anyway and I was in Oliver Webb I | 0:16:28 | 0:16:32
was about ten years old and ten
years later I have come full circle. | 0:16:32 | 0:16:38
I'm still thinking it like I did
when I was ten! I don't know if that | 0:16:38 | 0:16:42
is a good thing now that I'm 20!
EastEnders always do these epic | 0:16:42 | 0:16:48
performances but how do they choose
who gets the lead parts? I don't | 0:16:48 | 0:16:52
know. You don't have to audition?
No, there are some amazing singers | 0:16:52 | 0:17:00
in the cast like Shona and
Jacqueline but I'm quite competitive | 0:17:00 | 0:17:04
as well! I want the solo. Like the
nativity play at school? Were you | 0:17:04 | 0:17:10
happy? We went into the recording
studio and I literally realised then | 0:17:10 | 0:17:16
that I can't sing! I was told to
hold a note. In the musical director | 0:17:16 | 0:17:23
said, don't worry, in the edit will
make it look OK. Maybe it isn't | 0:17:23 | 0:17:30
singing that is for you but we
wanted to show something from when | 0:17:30 | 0:17:34
you were on Children In Need a few
years ago, 1996, hosted by Paul | 0:17:34 | 0:17:40
McKenna who was hypnotising you.
This is extraordinary the | 0:17:40 | 0:17:46
-- extraordinary TV. Can you
remember any of it? I can't even | 0:17:50 | 0:17:55
answer because I'm looking at my
hair! I think I was under! It was 21 | 0:17:55 | 0:18:03
years ago. Amazing. You are worried
about the hair but it needs to come | 0:18:03 | 0:18:10
back! And we have to mention quickly
gone Strictly is Blackpool this | 0:18:10 | 0:18:17
weekend and Davood is doing
incredibly well. Incredible. And he | 0:18:17 | 0:18:22
is one of the nicest guys as well. I
hope he goes really far. I can see | 0:18:22 | 0:18:30
you doing this, Dean. I would be the
funny one that everybody watches to | 0:18:30 | 0:18:37
see what he's doing! But I want to
win. Thank you for being here this | 0:18:37 | 0:18:43
evening. | 0:18:43 | 0:18:44
Let's take a look at some
of the other highlights planned | 0:18:44 | 0:18:46
for tonight's Children In Need. | 0:18:46 | 0:18:48
Tess and Ade kick things off
at 7.30pm with a special performance | 0:18:48 | 0:18:50
of Annie starring the fabulous
Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood. | 0:18:50 | 0:18:55
And an exclusive first-look
at the Dr Who Christmas special. | 0:18:55 | 0:19:01
Then it's over to this lot
and the rest of the EastEnders | 0:19:01 | 0:19:04
cast with their West End medley. | 0:19:04 | 0:19:06
And after 8pm, Peter Kay takes
to the driver's seat | 0:19:06 | 0:19:08
with a Car Share exclusive. | 0:19:08 | 0:19:14
The Countryfile presenters
don their stetsons for a special | 0:19:17 | 0:19:20
live performance after 8.30pm. | 0:19:20 | 0:19:24
And then, fingers crossed,
Team Rickshaw will be crossing | 0:19:24 | 0:19:29
the finish line in
Glasgow just before 9pm. | 0:19:29 | 0:19:32

Then there's Strictly Blue Peter,
Poldark, Weakest Link, | 0:19:34 | 0:19:37
performances from Rita Ora,
Sam Smith and of course Ore Oduba! | 0:19:37 | 0:19:40
The list is endless. | 0:19:40 | 0:19:45
I think it is about time we truly
kicked off Children In Need and | 0:19:45 | 0:19:50
launched the official phone number. | 0:19:50 | 0:19:54
Grab a pen because this
is the number you'll need to call | 0:19:54 | 0:19:57
if you want to donate at any point
during tonight's big show. | 0:19:57 | 0:20:00
I have been practising all day. | 0:20:00 | 0:20:02
The number is... | 0:20:02 | 0:20:03
03457 33 22 33. | 0:20:03 | 0:20:07
APPLAUSE | 0:20:07 | 0:20:10
Standard geographic
charges from landlines | 0:20:10 | 0:20:11
and mobiles will apply. | 0:20:11 | 0:20:13
And the great news is that
if you phone that number right now, | 0:20:13 | 0:20:16
the money you donate will go
towards the Team Rickshaw total | 0:20:16 | 0:20:18
so please give what you can. | 0:20:18 | 0:20:20
We've heard all week about some
of the amazing charities that | 0:20:20 | 0:20:23
are supported by your donations,
and I've been to visit one | 0:20:23 | 0:20:26
group that helps children
facing life-changing brain | 0:20:26 | 0:20:27
injuries and illnesses. | 0:20:27 | 0:20:30
It was Friday, she was playing with
her brother in the bath and | 0:20:36 | 0:20:39
everything was fine and within five
minutes she was unconscious. Coco | 0:20:39 | 0:20:45
was just six years old and suffered
a stroke. When we first arrived at | 0:20:45 | 0:20:51
A&E there was a big team of doctors
ready to work on her and I remember | 0:20:51 | 0:20:57
thinking at that point, this is not
good, and that was when we were told | 0:20:57 | 0:21:01
they had found this big lead on her
brain. She needed emergency surgery | 0:21:01 | 0:21:05
to release the pressure on her brain
-- the big bleed. We had to sign the | 0:21:05 | 0:21:13
forms that advised us she was likely
to die. Coco survived surgery and | 0:21:13 | 0:21:17
was put in an induced coma for a
week. A stroke was caused by a | 0:21:17 | 0:21:24
tangle of arteries and veins in the
brain. She was not waking up and | 0:21:24 | 0:21:28
that was almost as difficult as
being told she was likely to die. | 0:21:28 | 0:21:32
But then she smiled. And from there,
she gradually got better. Three | 0:21:32 | 0:21:40
months after her stroke, Coco came
here to the children's trust in | 0:21:40 | 0:21:46
Surrey, a leading charity
specialising in helping children | 0:21:46 | 0:21:49
with brain injuries. Here,
individual children receive | 0:21:49 | 0:21:56
tailor-made individual Tilly
rehabilitation programmes including | 0:21:56 | 0:22:00
speech and language therapy and a
bit of play therapy. | 0:22:00 | 0:22:06
Coming here, therapists were very
positive about everything. For the | 0:22:16 | 0:22:23
physio, her goal was to walk again
which she did after five months | 0:22:23 | 0:22:27
which was an amazing moment. Look at
you! That's really pretty, isn't it. | 0:22:27 | 0:22:36
Another one. Going from not being
able to do anything apart from lift | 0:22:36 | 0:22:42
her head to this... It's incredible.
How rewarding is it for you to work | 0:22:42 | 0:22:51
with children like Coco and see
their development? We have children | 0:22:51 | 0:22:54
coming in who are not mobile and
more on their beds and need a lot of | 0:22:54 | 0:23:01
input, to being able to start to
walk and seeing that progression is | 0:23:01 | 0:23:05
amazing. I'm doing some colouring.
The Children's Trust provides | 0:23:05 | 0:23:14
opportunities for children who have
a brain injury or neuro visibility | 0:23:14 | 0:23:17
which has been caused by accident or
illness. -- neuro disability. We | 0:23:17 | 0:23:24
have supported 900 children and
their families in the last year. She | 0:23:24 | 0:23:28
was paralysed down one side of her
body. She can only just sit up and | 0:23:28 | 0:23:34
now she can crawl. At 1.I was told
she might never walk and she might | 0:23:34 | 0:23:38
have a different outcome -- at one
stage. It is the best thing in the | 0:23:38 | 0:23:45
world. Fundraising is challenging
but without that we could not | 0:23:45 | 0:23:48
provide the vital therapy that the
children received. It's really | 0:23:48 | 0:23:52
inspirational to come here and see
first-hand what great causes your | 0:23:52 | 0:23:58
money is going towards and to meet
parents and children like Coco who | 0:23:58 | 0:24:01
are being helped. Your money can
help a lot of other projects and | 0:24:01 | 0:24:06
children across the country so
please keep giving what can. Thank | 0:24:06 | 0:24:09
you. Well done, Coco. We love Coco.
Amazing. | 0:24:09 | 0:24:21
Last year Alex visited
The London Centre for Children | 0:24:21 | 0:24:23
with Cerebral Palsy which helps
support children with the condition | 0:24:23 | 0:24:26
and their families. | 0:24:26 | 0:24:27
Like Andy and his mum Afrothedi. | 0:24:27 | 0:24:29
Welcome to the show. | 0:24:29 | 0:24:32
It is great to see you. You have
grown so much! And your ears are | 0:24:32 | 0:24:38
enormous! When I saw you last the
focus was on improving Andy's | 0:24:38 | 0:24:46
balance and walking and you had a
fundraiser to help with that. Yes, | 0:24:46 | 0:24:50
he has been given the OK to have a
life changing operation at Great | 0:24:50 | 0:24:55
Ormond Street Hospital to
unfortunately it is not completely | 0:24:55 | 0:24:58
funded by the NHS so we have been
fundraising for him. Fantastic | 0:24:58 | 0:25:03
community support and the school he
attends have recently fundraiser | 0:25:03 | 0:25:08
over £19,000. APPLAUSE
That is a big donation! And the, you | 0:25:08 | 0:25:16
are amazing, and we are waiting at
each other which is good fun but I | 0:25:16 | 0:25:22
know you like in years and also
dressing up. There is an amazing | 0:25:22 | 0:25:26
photograph of you as Luigi! That's
great! And your brother Christopher | 0:25:26 | 0:25:36
was Mario, wasn't the? Yes! And you
met Spiderman? Yes! What did you say | 0:25:36 | 0:25:46
to him? Help! When did you shave off
your moustache? A few years later! | 0:25:46 | 0:25:58
And how important is the Children In
Need money for Andy and when he has | 0:25:58 | 0:26:03
been cared for? He attends a centre
as you know and Children In Need | 0:26:03 | 0:26:11
give the centre of grant which goes
towards funding the sessions he goes | 0:26:11 | 0:26:17
to and the professionals and
specialists that help teach him to | 0:26:17 | 0:26:19
do everyday things like walking and
sitting. Thank you so much for being | 0:26:19 | 0:26:24
here. Good luck with the operation.
APPLAUSE | 0:26:24 | 0:26:31
Now while team which have been
racking up the miles on the road we | 0:26:35 | 0:26:38
would like to thank everybody who
has taken a spin on virtual rickshaw | 0:26:38 | 0:26:42
-- Team Rickshaw. That includes
Harry who has raised more than | 0:26:42 | 0:26:48
£2000! Well done. And then there is
Lauren, her bike broke down so she | 0:26:48 | 0:26:58
set up her exercise bike and cycled
65 miles and raised £193! Brilliant. | 0:26:58 | 0:27:04
Thank you to everybody who has got
on their bikes and together you have | 0:27:04 | 0:27:08
ridden more than 38,000 miles and
raised over £30,000. Well done and | 0:27:08 | 0:27:15
thank you. Team Rickshaw do not have
long left to complete their right to | 0:27:15 | 0:27:22
the Clyde with one last push. Matt
has sent us a final update. | 0:27:22 | 0:27:28
Hello! We are in touching distance
of the Finnish! | 0:27:31 | 0:27:34
-- of the finish line. I can't
believe I'm saying it, what a week | 0:27:37 | 0:27:40
it has been. Starting with the
highlights, Shona? Just going | 0:27:40 | 0:27:49
through the borders, and through
Hawick because nobody really knows | 0:27:49 | 0:28:01
where it is! Your highlight? Being
on the road with my idol. We have | 0:28:01 | 0:28:07
had fun times and learned a lot of
things. We should go to keep | 0:28:07 | 0:28:13
yourself?! Yes! Being with the best
people and making the best memories. | 0:28:13 | 0:28:19
Well said. Getting to know the whole
team and the stories. Yeah, I agree | 0:28:19 | 0:28:28
and also the support we have got
from the crowds of people has been | 0:28:28 | 0:28:32
really special and amazing. Luke, we
cycled out of The One Show studio | 0:28:32 | 0:28:40
last Thursday. The finish line it up
ahead. Can you believe it? No. There | 0:28:40 | 0:28:46
have been a few tough days of the
hills in the Lake District, but as | 0:28:46 | 0:28:51
you said we have got near to Glasgow
and that is thanks to the | 0:28:51 | 0:28:55
camaraderie and team spirit. We have
bonded so well and that has helped | 0:28:55 | 0:28:59
us get to this stage. That is the
key, the team spirit, this lot have | 0:28:59 | 0:29:05
left nothing back there in the 490
odd miles they have achieved and it | 0:29:05 | 0:29:11
has been brutal at times. But they
have found the strength to do this | 0:29:11 | 0:29:15
because of the support of Children
In Need. Each and every one of them, | 0:29:15 | 0:29:21
and if you have donated in the past,
you have been a big part of what you | 0:29:21 | 0:29:25
can see here. We don't need to be a
kidney specialist, a bereavement | 0:29:25 | 0:29:31
counsellor or a doctor of science,
all you have to do is help to | 0:29:31 | 0:29:36
provide that expert care. And then
this happens. And each and every one | 0:29:36 | 0:29:41
of them cannot wait to see how many
children they are going to help. | 0:29:41 | 0:29:46
When they are standing there
underneath the total, they will know | 0:29:46 | 0:29:50
what a difference that money is go
to make to the children who are now | 0:29:50 | 0:29:55
in the same position that they used
to be in. And you know what? Let's | 0:29:55 | 0:30:00
make it a brilliant total, total
they absolutely deserve. And if you | 0:30:00 | 0:30:06
have already donated that a huge
thank you for all of us. If you have | 0:30:06 | 0:30:10
come and supported on the road,
thank you, thank you, thank you all | 0:30:10 | 0:30:14
so if you have not had chance to
show your admiration and respect, | 0:30:14 | 0:30:18
there is still a chance. We will not
get that total until 8:50pm and I | 0:30:18 | 0:30:25
hope you are watching to see how big
it is. From all others here, we are | 0:30:25 | 0:30:29
going to enjoy last few miles. Let's
do this, team! Let's take the | 0:30:29 | 0:30:35
rickshaw at home! APPLAUSE
They are going to do it. | 0:30:35 | 0:30:42
That's almost it for tonight's show. | 0:30:42 | 0:30:43
Thanks to our guests,
Christopher, Tilly and Dean. | 0:30:43 | 0:30:46
And Mary Berry's here on Monday! | 0:30:46 | 0:30:47
On behalf of everyone
at The One Show, thank | 0:30:47 | 0:30:50
you to all who've supported Team
Rickshaw. | 0:30:50 | 0:30:51
It means the world. | 0:30:51 | 0:30:53
Now, all that's left
for us to do is hand over | 0:30:53 | 0:30:55
to Children In Need 2017. | 0:30:55 | 0:30:57
Everyone got their ears ready? | 0:30:57 | 0:30:58
Children In Need 2017 is live in... | 0:30:58 | 0:31:00 |
