Previously on Alesha's Street Dance Stars we saw eight phenomenal crews
battle it out in front of our judges for a place in the heat.
I need to find myself a red t-shirt, black shorts that match you guys
so I can jump on stage with you!
You guys have it, so believe in yourselves and I want to see more.
I really liked that one, I did! That was really good.
The standard was first-rate,
but only five crews were chosen to go through to the next round.
Hello and welcome back.
This is my search for Britain's best young street dance crew
and after travelling to every corner of the UK
to find the cream of the street dance crop
I can promise you that the next half hour
is going to feature some epic dance moves.
This is the third and final round of the qualifiers,
so get your swagger on and let's do this!
Eight crews will take to the stage today,
hoping to prove they've got what it takes
to eventually be crowned Alesha's Street Dance Stars 2011.
With only five places left in the heat,
the tension backstage is mounting.
Winning means everything and as well as the bragging rights
our champions will take home an amazing custom-made trophy.
Our judges are the masters of street dance.
Experts in technique, choreography and showmanship. Let's meet them.
I'm Lizzie Gough,
I'm a choreographer and professional dancer.
I'm most famous for being on So You Think You Can Dance.
I do street dance, locking, popping, break dance...
Choreography is very important in street dance,
but also knowing their foundation.
I just like to see new fresh ideas.
I'm Turbo, international street dance star.
I'm most famous for two of my moves.
My pneumatic drill shake and also my, er, tongue thing.
If I can't dance it feels awkward, it feels weird,
it feels like I'm strapped in a straightjacket.
My name's Kenrick "H2O" Sandy,
I'm a choreographer and a pioneer of UK street dance.
I'll be looking for tightness in the routine,
formation changes and transitions.
If don't feel I'm being performed to then I'm going to lose interest.
I think I'm known for my way of breaking convention
of hip-hop and street dance. I would say definitely I'm a rebel.
Alesha will be on hand backstage
to fire up our crews before they perform.
We're starting big.
Well, we're starting with one of the largest crews in the contest.
There are ten of them and they call themselves Masters Of Motion.
ALL: We're Masters Of Motion and we deserve to be here. WOO!
What is it that you'll bring to the table today?
We're going to bring charisma, entertainment,
all different aspects of dance, we're going to show.
# You are now about to witness
# The strength of street knowledge. #

You guys had such a range of styles in that routine,
which is great to see.
You had your locking, tutting, your house, you had a bit of everything,
which I liked.
So, just shows you have more versatility.
Just be careful with your transitions and stuff
that you don't go in to the move early.
-What's your name? Young one in the middle, right next to you.
At the beginning there's a point where you're tutting
and I tell you now, it's actually very clean
because a lot of people that tut and it's messy, it's crazy,
like Rubik's Cubes of moves,
but I'm looking at you and I can see the shapes.
It was VERY creative, especially when yous lot work together.
Some of the transitions were really really nice as well.
-Pat yourself on the back!
-And, literally, pat yourself on the back.
-Do it, do it!
Well done! That was a-maze-ing!
That was amazing!
This next crew are a thoroughly chilled bunch of lads
and very proud to be our only crew from Wales.
ALL: We're Ffres and we're from South Wales.
What style's have you brought to the table that's unique to Ffres?
-Me and Keenan pop.
-Pop and locking, he's the main break dancer.
-Main break dancer.
-And me and Davy are house.
Wicked, so you've got a nice little mix of styles going on.
# Prepare for launch in three...
# ACTION! #
MUSIC: "Forget You" by Cee Lo Green
MUSIC: "You Know How We Do It" by Adri Fernandez remix
I really liked your creativity.
I liked the way that yous lot went from one section to another section,
how you actually started your title one,
give that shape that you made
because for me it looked interesting.
I enjoyed your flavour and your vibe.
That was really, really nice.
There were moments where the two short cats, over here,
you came in front and you went "BANG!"
I was like, "OK, all right."
It was very, very nice.
Just careful of transitions. At the beginning you were waving
and then you carried on with the routine,
but there was a moment when you were like, "I'm here early."
Make sure you know EXACTLY your timing
and your route to get there and how long it will take you.
What I like about your performance is your shape at the beginning...
your body logo...is what I'll call it. Body logo.
I like the fact you had it at the beginning,
then you finished with it at the end.
that, all right?
Well done, lads.
Well done, well done!
What was the best thing the judges said?
Well, they, kind of, like, said we could be, like, recognised,
like the, "body logo."
Watch out for this next crew, you might be in for a shock.
ALL: We're Voltage and we're from Bristol.
-Feel like you can take everyone on?
Does anyone have any tricks up their sleeve, or is it straight-up dance?
We've got a couple of tricks, but...
-He's going to keep that one up his sleeve.
We'll be watching out here.
MUSIC: "Lose Control" by Missy Elliott
# Voltage! #
# Timewarp complete Ready for transmission. #
That dubstep section, that music is going mad.
It's crazy. There's bits in there you can hit.
Try and hit those if you can.
# Baaaa, babababa-baa-baap. Babababa-baa. #
If you guys can hit that like, it's very entertaining to watch.
Sometimes you threw away the movements. At points, it was lost,
but I could see it. I was like, "Oh, that was really good."
When you get to that position, hold it. Your arms should be killing,
you should be aching because you're using your muscles.
The more you use it, the stronger you'll get. You'll just get better.
So is there anything that they gave you to take away
-and think about and work on?
-They said put more energy into it
-and be more confident.
-The energy levels were brilliant.
I have to say, the energy was great.
They may look angelic,
but these girls are a force to be reckoned with.
-Hoping to dazzle the judges, it's D*FY.
We're D*FY and we're from Telford.
Where does the name D*FY come from?
D*FY basically comes from...
-SHE MIMICS GIRL
-..comes from like we're defying
all the people that never believed in us and thought that...
..and thought that we couldn't do well.
We're trying to prove them wrong.
MUSIC: "Fabolous" by Brooklyn
Go on, girls!
MUSIC: "Hit The Lights" by Jay Sean
Your shapes in the tutting section...sick.
You guys are so mature and so feminine. It was brilliant.
You're so strong as a unit. It's great to see.
You had the femmes style, voguing, popping, house,
so many different elements, so clean,
and you all dance the same which is great.
You attacked it. When you came on, we were like, "Aw, they're sweet,"
and then all of a sudden, we go, "Ooh, whoa!"
One thing I would say, with regard to the house,
just make it a bit bigger. I can see it's an area that you're new to,
and it's fresh. Take your steps, ba-ba-BA, boom boom BOOM,
-go with the steps, go with the music.
-Three words that come to mind.
Fierce, daring, physical. Those things definitely come to mind.
It felt very eclectic, in the feel of the set.
It started very hardcore, then went commercial,
and then from that, I started to see hip-hop technique.
And for me, D*FY, you defied it today. Definitely.
You made sure that you defined why you're here. Well done.
Well done, girls. Well done. Oh, well done.
The crews we've seen so far have been incredible.
Here's a look back at their performances.
Masters Of Motion from Essex.
Ffres from Port Talbot.
Voltage from Bristol.
And from Telford, D*FY.
This crew are a bunch of confident individuals,
each with a speciality of their own. They dream about performing
-every day in true Ninja style.
-We're the Ninjas from Essex! Hyaaa!
What can we expect to see today? Tricks?
-Yeah, we've got a lot of tricks.
-That's the stunt man.
-Are we ready to do this?
-Give me your best Ninja pose.
-Now get in there and show me how it's done. Ninjas!
You guys have so much character. All your swagger's great.
Your costumes are great. I was just entertained the whole way through.
MUSIC: "Pass Out" by Tinie Tempah
It was sick!
-It actually was sick.
Like, the krump section at the beginning, there,
and the other krump section here,
I was close to getting out my seat and joining you guys.
I was about this close. Kenrick can probably vouch for me on that.
Technically, with regards to your locking, your krump
and your waving, really practise on those things,
because your performance, no-one can knock you for that,
but those little things, if there's too many it becomes a problem.
That was very good.
That was so good!
It was amazing!
Their motto is, "Strengthen your wings to fly."
And this next crew are hoping to soar above the competition today.
ALL: We're Most Wanted and we're from Portsmouth!
What is your specific style that's unique to Most Wanted?
In the group, we have different strengths.
So we have the divas of the group...
Who's the divas? Who's the...?
MUSIC: "Toxic" by Britney Spears
They mean business.
MUSIC: "Hypest Hype" by Chase & Status
MUSIC: "Red Alert" by Basement Jaxx
EVIL LAUGH, ORGAN PLAYS
I like you guys cos you have a lot of character
and you're confident, which is great with female performers.
You held your own ground.
You guys have a mad energy on stage.
There's like a slight bit of a krump section that you guys have.
You're actually scaring me.
Especially, madam, the X.
See, yep, I'm leaving after this.
Well done, ladies. Focus on the locking technique.
Clean up on your locking, the points, and get down more funky
so there's a differentiation between your street dance routines,
and your locking.
Yous lot took the stage and it was really nice.
-ALL: Thank you!
-Yeah. Thank you very much, ladies.
Well done, girls.
This break crew have been practising five times a week in preparation.
They're dedicated and say their bite is louder than their bark.
ALL: We're Bite Us, and we're from Leicestershire.
-Are you bringing something unique to the table?
-Show what you've got. Are you ready to win? Can you do it?
-Going to do it for Leicestershire?
-All right, guys. Best of luck.
-See you when you come back out.
MUSIC: "Good Times" by Roll Deep featuring Jodie Connor
MUSIC: "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" by Usher featuring Pitbull
Girl, when you come forwards, doing that whacking bit, there, whack away!
Right? Give it that power.
"I'm going to take control of the stage, this is my light, right there.
"I'm going to take it." Show that power.
I thought it was good but don't be afraid to show off, you know?
As dancers, we show off. We like to show off our skills
cos that's what we've been given.
Your neck isolation, your neck was gone.
Head was down there, neck was up there.
-Well done, guys.
-How you feeling?
That was amazing.
Finally, they love to perform and describe themselves as fun,
hard-working and shy. Well, until they get on the stage.
ALL: Hi, we're G25, and we're from Manchester.
It's nice to see another female group. Have you got any tricks?
We've not got that many tricks and flips, because we want to bring dance
to the competition.
You seem shy. I'm sure you'll come alive out there.
I want to wish you lots of luck, girls.
MUSIC: "Baby" by Justin Bieber
I want to learn those routines, it was that good.
MUSIC: "What It Is" by Sophia Fresh featuring Kanye West
You're so stylised and you have such a good swagger
when you're dancing and just so confident.
I love the fact, at the beginning, you started off with that song
and I thought, "Aw, they're cute."
And then, like, bam!
You came in with all your attitude and it was great.
You guys... YOU GUYS are ridonculous.
You guys can take out a lot of adult dancers in this world, I would say.
Go on, Ken.
Ladies, that was really good. There's a level of maturity
in how yous lot perform. A professionalism that is very good,
-so just keep it up.
-ALL: Thank you.
-What was the best thing the judges said?
-We're very pleased
because Turbo said we could rival a lot of adult groups.
I like it. "You guys are ridonculous!"
The judges know there are just five places left in the heats.
Three of our crews will have to leave the show for good.
The decision is theirs.
It's last dance saloon for three of our crews.
Here's a reminder of all eight performances.
Earlier you saw Masters Of Motion from Essex.
Ffres, from Port Talbot.
Voltage, from Bristol.
D*fy, from Telford.
And then you saw Ninjas from Basildon.
Most Wanted from Portsmouth.
Bite Us from Leicestershire.
And from Manchester, G25.
-I really like these guys.
-They shocked me.
They were powerful on stage.
-The fire, the fierceness, came out from these guys.
-I think yes for them. We can put them through.
We're hoping that the way we chose our theme will make us stand out.
We got good results, good feedback
so we'll take that on board
and try to bring it back, but better, if we do get through.
-I'm very doubtful of these.
-Yes, I agree as well.
I think they need more as well. They need nurturing, as well.
Yeah, they need...
I think we should talk about these girls cos they were serious.
-They scared me.
-They were really serious.
-Cos they were talented.
-We're feeling quite nervous and excited at the same time.
Now, we're just nervous.
Boys versus girls.
I'm going to say it straight - they eat them.
-For breakfast, lunch...
-And a snack.
-We're ready to decide?
This is our final five.
-No, that's it.
-Three times, done. End of story. Thank you very much, guys.
Thank you very much.
The judges have reached a decision.
Let's find out which of our crews have made it through.
The crews securing a place in the heats are...
ALL: We're in the heats! Woo-hoo!
-We're in the heats!
They performed well but, sadly, the three crews going home are...
Which means the last two places go to...
ALL: The Ninjas are in the heats! Yeah!
ALL: I can't believe we're through to the heats! Woo!
Congratulations to Masters Of Motion, Ffres,
D*fy, Ninjas and G25.
Next time, the first of our heats, and the temperature is rising.
Five of our crews will once again take to the stage in an attempt
to secure a place in the semi-finals of Alesha's Street Dance Stars.
Make sure you join us then.
We're really nervous but excited at the same time.
As we're the only Welsh group in the competition,
-hopefully we've got Wales backing us.
We're an all-girl crew so we just want to kind of...
-Represent the girls!
You could poke someone in the eye with this.
We're the next generation, because we're young,
and we want to be the new generation as well.
