Last time, Lil Diamonds blew us away with their moves

and carried off the trophy.

Now Alesha's Street Dance Stars is back.

We've scoured the UK for the most incredible new street dance crews.

The standard at the auditions was immense.

Only 24 crews could make it through to the contest.

We're going to set the stage on fire!

Now, who will impress our judges with their technique,

choreography and showmanship?

The pressure is on.

The stakes are high.

This is Alesha's Street Dance Stars 2012.

Hello!

We're back with a brand-new series of Alesha's Street Dance Stars.

This is my search for the UK's best young street dance crews.

Now, we've seen groups from all over the country,

but only 24 have made it this far

and they're all ready to battle it out for a place in the semifinal.

Today four qualifying crews will perform on this stage

in front of our expert judges and our studio audience.

CHEERING

They'll certainly be feeling the pressure,

because only one crew can be crowned Alesha's Street Dance Stars 2012

and take home this fabulous trophy.

Crews know they need to be on point, their popping polished

and their locking locked down to get through.

But before we meet them, let's find out who they need to impress.

I'm Dwayne Nosworthy, established choreographer and street dancer.

I've worked with the likes of Kelly Rowland, Kelis, Black Eyed Peas...

As head judge, I'm going to be looking for creativity.

I want them to burn the stage alight.

I'm the boss.

My name's Lizzie Gough, I'm a dancer and choreographer

and I was also a judge on last year's Alesha's Street Dance Stars.

I've worked with people like Take That,

Katie Melua, McFly, Adam Garcia...

As a judge, I'm quite the quiet one, but it's because I'm

quite hard to please and I like to look at the whole performance.

I think I'm most known for street dance

because I'm very good at adapting to different styles.

My name's Suzette Brissett and I am a professional dancer

and choreographer from London.

I've worked with artists such as Jessie J, Rihanna,

Lil Wayne and Cher Lloyd.

As a new judge I'm looking for fire, entertainment,

a burst of energy on stage.

I'm young, I'm funky, fresh...

You know what I mean?

I'm Turbo. If you don't know who I am, where have you been?

I'm a crazy dancer, I enjoy performing on stage...

I've worked with artists such as Will Smith, Madonna...

What I'm going to bring to the panel as a judge is fun, excitement,

but also I'm going to give you constructive criticism.

Now, this is the important bit.

The judges will be scoring on technique, choreography

and showmanship, and the nine crews with the highest scores

will take their place in the semifinals.

In the event of a tie-break, head judge Dwayne

will decide who goes through.

The crews are nervously waiting backstage,

so let's not keep them any longer.

First up is a crew who like to fuse all styles of hip-hop.

They dream about dancing and performing every day.

All the way from Essex, it's Reloaded!

ALL: We're Reloaded, and we're from Essex! Wahey!

Well, we do spend a lot of time together, and it helps us on stage,

cos we're bonded as a family, so we can work as a team together.

Well, we've all got our own individual characters.

I'm the cheeky one,

and we've got Jasmine, who's accident prone...

we've got Shannon, who's like, whenever you look at her

she does the eyebrows like that.

We've got Jen, who's, like, just laughs a lot...

..we've got loudmouth...

..and we've got Josh Posh!

Reloaded's motto is "go hard or go home",

and hopefully we can go hard in front of the judges

and then go home.

That was a good start, seriously, from beginning to end

I was really impressed with you guys. Really, your passion,

your energy from start to finish was amazing, well done.

Seriously, you impressed me.

You guys are taking it to another level.

You just used one track and you were powerful,

like Dwayne said, from the beginning to the end.

I loved it, you showed a variety of styles, great locking,

and I loved the beginning, you were kind of battling with each other

and the formations you used, then you joined in together

and brought it up another level.

-Definitely one to watch out, I think.

No, seriously, I love you guys. The popping was really good.

I loved the whole intro, when you guys were battling each other,

that worked really well, then the way you guys came together

and collaborated, you guys are a team, and I loved that.

Your intro was good.

I really enjoyed it, I wanted to see if you guys would pick it up,

and you guys picked it up.

Me and Suzette were just like, "Yeah! Whoo!"

You guys have got some energy in there.

Loved your popping, you've got some great charisma

when you're popping, as well.

The only think I might say is, your black uniforms are probably

hiding your moves just a little, tiny bit.

I just want to see them come out a bit more.

But other than that, you guys just...

Now, our next crew have been together since 2008.

They say they work well under pressure, which is a good job

because their crew motto is "no mistakes".

ALL: We're Soul Dance Juniors and we're from Sheffield.

Woo!

We all stick together as a crew.

We know that we can go to dancing knowing we can leave

all our troubles behind, if we've had a problem at school,

and we can just express our feelings in our dance or with our friends.

Hopefully the judges will remember us as being unique and different.

Fingers crossed all our hard work pays off and we hopefully will win.

Before we perform we, like, encourage each other.

We all get in a group and talk to each other and get hype and that.

I don't think there's any of you that don't do a trick

or do something, you each had your time to shine,

You guys' tricks are nuts! I love it.

The fact that all of you guys can individually hold it

for yourself, which is good, sometimes in crews

you just see one person do a flip and you're like, "OK."

But that all you guys do the tricks together is ridiculous, I loved it.

Can I just say two things? One, your flips are ridiculous.

Like, a lot of older guys can't flip as clean as you,

they're very, very good, your butterfly twist, sweet.

you guys were holding it, for sure.

I love your energy on stage,

I loved that you were smiling, you looked like you were having fun.

Guys, well done, I enjoyed that performance.

You lot kind of had this pace which was really slow, smooth,

yet you were doing tricks and exciting stuff

in this smooth, sultry way. I don't even know what to say.

That can only be a good thing, right?

Just a reminder, there are nine places in the semifinals,

so crews need to score high to win a place - every point counts.

Our next crew describe themselves as a colourful family.

Their favourite moves are ball changes, baby freezes and alphas.

Where do they get these names from? No, really.

OK, from London, it's Prestige!

ALL: We're Prestige and we're from London. Whoo!

We've all been rehearsing really hard

and we're just always having fun, always putting the music on.

Always freestyling. We're just all chilled out, we're like a big family.

-Hey!

-We all really enjoy it. We play hard and work hard.

This is Prestige's mascot. ALL: Whoo!

And it's called Bear and it's got a heart for each and every one of us

and it gives us good luck when we're with it.

Prestige as a crew, we just feel united and as one

when we dance together.

The judges would want to remember us as being quite cheeky.

When you flipped over the whole of the other dancers,

that was amazing, coming out from nowhere.

I like when you guys were doing your alpha kicks in the front

and then you went into the double, you guys were really strong.

-I'm really proud.

-Brilliant comments there from Suzette. Turbo.

When you came on stage you just stood in this line, I was thinking,

what are you guys going to give to us?

You did your flip and I thought,

"OK, get ready for something right now!

"It's about to go down!"

You guys brought it on stage, I really, really enjoyed it.

Sir, if my cat ever gets stuck in a tree,

you can jump and catch my cat cos you had some serious height.

One thing I'd say to you guys is, the songs you guys are using

where the tunes are really banging and really bumpy,

try and use the energy of that song to take it out on your moves more.

Especially certain tunes you're using - hit it.

When you were high, you were high.

I want the whole performance to be that level

-so keep to that standard, OK?

That's very constructive criticism, all right?

The only thing for me was at times for the transitions,

you walked to your positions and stuff and it sometimes lost

the feeling you were doing and that's what made it dip at times

but when you were doing the styles, they were great.

-Really great.

Now you may recognise this next crew.

They almost made it to the final last time.

They describe themselves as naughty but fun

and say they're back to win. From Essex, it's Mischief!

ALL: We're Mischief and we're from Essex. Oo-oo-ooh!

We're called Mischief for a reason because we like having fun

and messing around and hopefully the judges

can see that when we're dancing.

Mischief are all great dancers.

We can all be a bit silly.

We all have a great laugh together.

Mischief trained very hard last year but unfortunately didn't get through

so this year we've trained harder and come back a lot better

and we'll beat those teams and hopefully win it.

I'll give you a little bit of criticism first

then I'll come to the good points.

Just on some of your moves, you need to finish them,

make them a bit cleaner.

They were a little bit messy on some of your routines.

But what I did like was your intro.

Your lock-in...

There was one point when you guys went down to your knees

and came back up. I even heard Dwayne go, "Ooh!"

I liked it, it was really nice.

I can feel it in my ribs. Nice performance.

So I was really feeling the groove of your whole performance.

What I would say is your facials.

There was a time where your facials were amazing but you especially,

where is she? Young lady there, yeah.

I loved the kind of grooves that you guys have got but when it came

to the lock-in I really liked that. I loved the knee drop and back up,

it was just a nice combination, something a bit different.

You guys are the one to watch

because you guys just had a nice pace to it.

Even in the beginning, it just threw me off a bit.

I thought, "What will they do?"

Then you went into the ballroom dancing which was good

cos it was like, "What are we going to expect from you?"

Then you went straight into the whole LA style

with the routine and stuff. You guys were really good.

I loved the whole lock-in and then you guys went into the ballroom.

You guys did everything, man.
