We search the UK to bring you the best street dance crews.

The standard at the auditions was incredible

and the battle has begun.

We're going to set the stage on fire.

With 24 crews ready to impress our judges

with their technique, choreography and showmanship.

The pressure is on, the stakes are high,

this is Alesha's Street Dance Stars.

Hello and welcome to Alesha's Street Dance Stars.

This is my search for the UK's best young street dance crews.

And what a show we've got lined up for you today.

In just a few minutes' time four crews will be

smashing this stage with their dance moves.

They're all hoping to win a place in the semi-finals.

And ultimately all the crews are battling for the title

of Alesha's Street Dance Stars 2012,

and the chance to take home this fabulous trophy.

The crews know they need to be on point, their popping polished

and their lockin' locked down to get through.

But before we meet them, let's find out who they need to impress.

I'm Dwayne Nosworthy, established choreographer and street dancer.

# I get the girls that's pretty in the face

# With a real nice booty still skinny in the waist... #

I've worked with the likes of Kelly Rowland, Kelis, Black Eyed Peas.

As head judge, I'm going to be looking for creativity.

I want them to burn the stage alight.

I'm the boss.

My name's Lizzie Gough, I'm a dancer and choreographer

and I was also a judge on last year's Alesha's Street Dance Stars.

I've worked with people like Take That, Katie Melua, McFly,

Adam Garcia.

As a judge I'm quite the quiet one but it's because I'm quite

hard to please and I like to look at the whole performance.

I think I'm most known for street dance

because I'm very good at adapting to different styles.

My name's Suzette Brissett and I'm a professional dancer

and choreographer from London.

I've worked with artists such as Jessie J, Rihanna, Lil Wayne

and Cher Lloyd.

As a new judge, I'm looking for fire, entertainment,

bursts of energy on stage.

I'm young, I'm funky, fresh.

Do you know what I mean?

I'm Turbo.

If you don't know who I am, where have you been?

I'm a crazy dancer. I enjoy performing on stage.

I've worked with artists such as Will Smith, Madonna.

What I'm going to bring to the panel as a judge is fun, excitement,

but also I'm going to give you constructive criticism.

Now, this is the important one, the judges will be scoring

the crews on technique, choreography and showmanship.

And the nine crews across the qualifiers with the highest scores

will take their place in the semi-finals.

In the event of a tie-break, head judge, Dwayne,

will decide who goes through.

I can feel the tension building, can you guys?

Let's not keep the crews waiting any longer.

First up, in front of the judges, it's a crew from Swansea who

mixed their one music and choreographed their own routines.

It's Off Beat!

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

ALL: We're Off Beat and we're from Swansea! Woo-hoo!

We're in a cool school.

We were put together about two months ago,

so we've all got to know each other.

We all support each other and keep each other hyped.

We prepared for today by working ridiculously hard for two weeks,

training every single day.

We hope it's worthwhile, so we'll give it our best shot.

We have a mascot but unfortunately he can't be here today,

here's a picture of him.

There is a big age range in our crew and Corey is the oldest

and Sarah's the youngest.

When the younger ones get stuck, the older ones help them in routines.

I would like the judges to remember us by, like, standing out

and being, like, excellent.

Just want to say good luck to the other crews

I heard that you choreographed this whole routine, is that true?

-Yeah.

-How long did it take you?

-A month and a half.

Well, well done. Very impressive. Shall we see what our judges think?

Yeah?

OK, we're going to start with you, Dwayne.

First and foremost, guys, why are you called Off Beat?

You were most certainly ON beat, so well done.

Do you know what I mean?

And the fact that you choreographed it yourself, I was really

looking forward to that because you don't meet a lot of crews

that choreograph themselves, so well done for that as well.

Really like your outfits, beautiful. Loving that.

I think you guys are just very fresh and very happy. I like that.

I like people when they're happy because it makes me happy.

And you had a nice range of whacking and house.

It was just a really nice collective of dance.

I would like to see more from you guys.

I, personally, I loved it.

I loved the whole formation.

I loved when you guys were in a circle, you did it into a dolphin.

That was fantastic. I loved the whacking, I loved the house.

And I love what you're wearing. Those trousers, I love them.

Like I said, the house, that's me, I love house

and the house was on point.

Especially when you guys were doing scribble foot. Beautiful.

Next up it's a crew who enjoy freestyling,

battling and experimenting with different styles.

From Nottingham, it's Wots The T.

ALL: We're Wots The T and we're from Nottingham. Woo!

We've been preparing for about four weeks now

and we dance twice a week, so it's been a lot

and we hope that's enough to impress the judges and to get through.

I'm the only boy and it's not too good

because you always get bossed around by these girls.

We would like to be remembered by the judges for our uniqueness,

style, flavour, showmanship and being like a family

and getting along so well with each other.

I'm feeling a bit nervous, but great at the same time

and we're going to smash it.

-Wow, I did not expect that from you guys.

It just kind of just came out of nowhere.

You lot have a lot of potential.

A lot of potential and you were doing a different style to

the most general people would do and I actually really wanted to join in.

Well, I want you guys to teach me that cos I can't do that.

I loved the freezes.

You know I love my tricks and I love freezes.

It was very, very strong and you're still young!

So, excellent choice of music.

Just at times look up, at times, but excellent. Really good.

I loved you guys. I loved you guys, seriously.

You guys were just like, you guys were just fun and energetic.

It was refreshing. I loved the way you guys used the stage.

It was just so refreshing just to look at and the whole music,

I love my Beyonce,

so you guys just came out with Beyonce, you know what I mean?

We all love our Beyonce!

So, like, for me, your freeze is ridiculous as well,

it's so good and you guys just work well together.

Just like Suzette said, I loved the way you guys used the stage.

Your daring, you went for it, your freeze.

I didn't expect that to happen.

You went down on your back

and then you went up and you sort of invert, kapow, like, hey!

You had good transitions with your routines as well so while you're

doing your routines, your transitions and your positions were amazing.

Your ending, I loved that.

I thought, is she going to fall? No!

I've got something else for you, uh-uh.

There you go. Amazing.

And one more thing!

One thing that I really, really liked as well,

you guys had those points where you had subtle grooves.

That kind of made me go, ooh, yes. I like that.

It feels good. Guys that was very good moves.

Now, our next crew have travelled the furthest to be here today.

They describe themselves as being small, crazy and full of swagger.

All the way from Kent, it's base.

ALL: We're Base and we're from Kent. Whoo!

The crew is really close. As like a family.

I think it's because we spend so much time together, rehearsing.

But the dance school we all go to we don't think of it as

dance school, it's our family, too.

In Base there is a funny duo and we are the funniest.

Yeah!

For our warm-up, we put all our hands in and then we sing a song.

ALL: Base! Aha ha ha. Aha aha, Base.

when we walk on stage will be feel a mixture of excitement and nerves.

But we express our feelings in dance, so you have to wait and see.

I would like the judges to remember Base as a funny and lively crew.

The intro was explosive.

I loved it from the music, how you guys just went out

OK, last up it's a crew who've been together for three years.

They are best friends and say big hair and accessories are a must.

It's Ebonessence Girls.

All: We're Ebonessence Girls and we're from Hackney, woo!

Our style of dance is more routine based and more technical.

We try to add in all different styles to make something unique.

Yeah, that's what we do.

Before we go on stage, we have a talk from our teacher

and then we go in a circle and we pray together.

All: Ebonessence!

Because that, like, boosts our confidence up.

It's like a mental warm-up for us.

When we walk onto the stage, I think we'll be nervous

but once the music starts I think our attitude will come

and we'll just have to get on with the dance and hope we do well.

We want the judges to remember us as the girl group who has charisma,

attitude, flavour, style.

We're the baddest group out there.

The message I say is, all you other crews should watch out

because Ebonessence Girls are here.

in your faces and your bodies you were like, argh!

you had a lot of presence.

I loved it from the beginning.

What I would say is that you could have used the stage a little more.

Show me a bit more technique in there?

But apart from that, you guys were fabulous. Great energy, I loved it.

Hi, girls. I love your outfits.

You all look very fresh together.

I really liked the footwork section.

Just for me, on the tutting and some of the angles

and just working on your stops and starts at time.

You guys are so great as a unit and it's just working on certain angles

and making that really, really tight.

But as an all girl group, very strong.

You guys are fierce. You guys had it on lock.

I love the whole sierra thing. Argh. Came out like explosive and stuff.

The whole girly thing. You were living on stage and stuff,

The ending was nice the way you guys just went...finish. That was good.

The whole alpha, you guys were doing the alpha kicks, that was nice.

And, yeah, you guys as a unit together work really well.
