Hi, I'm Andy.

Things are really hotting up here in the National Museum.

Hatty, our dinosaur expert,

is working on a brand-new exhibit all about volcanoes.

She's asked me to bring her this red light bulb for her display.

I don't know what it's for but I can't wait to find out.

ANDY WHISTLES

Look at that!

Where's Hatty?

Hatty?

-Hatty?

-Hi, Andy.

-Oh!

-I was just putting the finishing touches to the volcano.

-What do you think?

-It looks incredible.

It will look even better when I put this in.

Look at that. You can see all the lava running down now.

Great rivers of melted rock.

Back when Tyrannosaurus rex was running around there were

-a lot more volcanoes than there are today.

-It sounds dangerous.

-And smelly, as well.

-Smelly?

Volcanoes contain something called sulphur

-and sulphur smells just like rotten eggs.

-Ugh.

-Oh, I'll take that, Hatty.

-OK.

-Catch.

-Oh, oh!

-Oh, it's not real.

-It is. It's pumice stone.

It's what lava turns into when it stops being hot and runny.

-But it's so light.

-It's because it's full of air bubbles.

It's one of the few rocks that actually floats.

People all over the world use it in their baths to make their skin

nice and smooth.

I'd better get going!

The museum opens soon and I've still got lots to do.

-You wouldn't mind just tidying up, would you?

-Hatty, leave it to me.

I've made it!

I've travelled back in time 65 million years, to the time of

Tyrannosaurus rex.

What's that smell? It smells like...

rotten eggs.

Remember what Hatty said? That's a good sign that volcanoes are close.

Like that one over there.

And when there are volcanoes, there's pumice stone.

Which is exactly what I'm looking for. Better get moving.

I've got quite a trek ahead of me.

Oh, that smell! It stinks!

Maybe there's something in Hatty's backpack I can cover my nose with.

Hm. Oh, there's my sandwich for later on.

That's what I was looking for. Brilliant!

Though it's good the smell's getting stronger.

It does mean that we're closer to the...

To the volcano!

I just need to get even closer.

Before that T-rex over there comes and gets me.

T-rex! It's a Tyrannosaurus rex!

And it says here that they were not only

one of the most massive meat eaters to have ever lived,

but also had a great sense of smell

-and fantastic eyesight.

-DINOSAUR BREATHES LOUDLY

Although it doesn't seem to be interested in me...

-Oh, that was easy.

a hungry look in his eye.

There he is. He's tired himself out. He's fast asleep.

A sandwich, my meaty sandwich. This is what he's after.

I'd better be quick if we want to get that pumice stone. Come on.

Can you hear that? I think he's still following me.

Right, there's only one thing for it.

I'm going to hide downwind so he can't smell me. Clever, eh?

He can't smell me now my scent's been blown away by the wind.

That was close. Now to climb that volcano. Come on.

Wow! They really are light. A real pumice stone.

This is exactly what I came here for.

and then get this back to the museum before it opens.

And something tells me whatever I do I need to do it pretty quick!

It's always full of useful things.

What's this? It's pretty big.

An emergency life raft! How's that going to help me?

Which is why we have this piece of cooled lava, called pumice stone.
