Hi, I'm Andy.

I work in the dinosaur gallery at the National Museum.

Hatty is working on a brand-new Australian dinosaur display today,

and she's asked me to bring in this CD.

I wonder what it's for.

-Hatty?

What are you doing?

Just putting the finishing touches to this Muttaburrasaurus.

What's it called again?

-A Mutta...burra..

-A Mutta...burra...saurus.

That's quite an impressive bump its got on its nose, as well.

Ah, yes... I don't know exactly what that was used for.

It may have been used to make sounds,

so it could keep in touch with other Muttaburrasaurus.

-Which reminds me, did you bring that CD I asked for?

-Here it is.

BIG ROARS AND GRUNTS

That's my idea

of what a Muttaburrasaurus may have sounded like.

Sounds realistic. It could almost be here in the room.

Although, if there was one right here now,

I don't think we last very long!

Actually there'd be nothing to worry about.

Muttaburrasaurus were herbivores - they only ate plants.

When the Muttaburrasaurus ate the leaves on this tree,

they'd knock the tree's red berries to the ground,

where they'd be gobbled up by smaller dinosaurs

like these Leaellynasaura.

So, I thought, I'd sprinkle some berries on the ground.

Da-de-de-dah!

Ah. I think the mice got these.

How am I going to finish my display? The museum opens soon!

Don't worry, Hatty.

-I'll find some red berries somewhere.

-There's hardly any time.

I made it! I've travelled back in time 106 million years

to the time of Muttaburrasaurus.

I've landed in the middle of the forest,

but in Hatty's display, the berries were by a river.

The question is - how am I could find a river?

CROAKING

I can't hear a Muttaburrasaurus to follow, but...

LITTLE CROAKS

I can hear...

I don't suppose you know where any red berries are?

Erm... I don't suppose you know where all the berries are?

ANDY IS PANTING

They haven't led me to a river,

but they have led me to a pond.

CROAKING AND CLICKING

It says here

it's a Koolasuchus,

an amphibian, a bit like a frog.

The only difference is, though,

frogs are about that size.

These guys used to weigh as much as a small horse,

and they lived in and out of water.

And in the winter, they would stay in the ponds,

and in the summer they'd head to the river.

So I'm going to follow him. Hopefully, we can find a river,

and more importantly, some red berries.

It's an Allosaurus, and he's looking hungry.

It says here that the Allosaurus are pretty fast,

but the Muttaburrasaurus are standing their ground,

and there's safety in numbers!

Be careful.

BIG ROAR

He's making a sound with his nose,

just like the noise Hatty made in the museum.

Go on, Muttaburrasaurus!

Well done, plant-eaters!

Right, I think it's safe enough to go over there now.

Look at this, I'm having a drink with a Muttaburrasaurus!

OK, let's go find those red berries.

It's just how Hatty thought it would be.

They're stripping the leaves from the trees.

Then to communicate with each other

they're blowing through the special bumps on their nose.

If only I knew how to ask them where the red berries are.

Ah, this looks promising!

The Muttaburrasaurus are tearing off the conifers

and the red berries are falling to the ground.

Then the Leaellynasaura are eating them!

Ow!

I'll keep them safe in the bag.

I've got just enough time to get back to the museum before it opens.

-What's that sound?

Mosquitoes! A whole swarm of them.

They're everywhere.

And they're flying into his ear.

And now, they are coming towards me!

These two dinosaurs both lived in what is now Australia

106 million years ago.

As you can see, the big Muttaburrasaurus

was a plant eater that stripped leaves from trees.

Sometimes they would knock... the berries to the ground!

Where they would be picked up by other animals

-like these hungry little Leaellynasauras.
