Hello, I'm Andy, and I work here at Pickles' Animal Park.

It's my job to look after all the animals, like Bruce, here.

Bruce is a boobook owl. He is still very young

and learning how to fly,

so we are going to play a game to help him learn.

Aren't we, Bruce? Come on.

I do hope it's hide and seek.

At the Animal Park, when I'm training him,

I give him nice, tasty, meaty treats.

I'm talking about a cheetah.

They're not just fast -

they can change direction really quickly like a racing car.

It's really difficult to find them.

They're camouflaged with their spotty coats and long grass.

Oh, look!

The cubs practise their hunting skills on their mother

by sneaking up on her in the long grass.

Animals sneaking up on others is "stalking".

I'm going to try it. Come on.

There they are. I want to get even closer

so I can practise stalking with them.

To do that, I need to shrink to their size.

So,

size of a cheetah cub.

Perfect!

They have spotted coats to camouflage themselves

in the long grass.

But I really stand out,

so I need to blend in somehow.

What can I do?

Now no-one can see me!

Now this is stalking.

This is exactly what Mum would do

if she were hunting for real.

A cheetah's eyes are set high up on the top of its head.

That way, they can peek over the top of the grass

without revealing too much of their face.

Which is perfect if they're trying to keep out of sight.

Nice try, guys!

But you need more practice.

CHEETAH CHIRPS

Hang on! Did you hear that noise?

Look, it's a cheetah cub! I think he's stuck.

Don't worry - I'm sure he'll be fine.

Cheetahs aren't very good climbers.

They need all the practice they can get.

I'm not sure he will climb so high next time.

Come on, buddy, you can do it!

Be careful, buddy! I hope he doesn't fall!

Oh, well done!

Look at the cubs!

They're growing up fast.

Soon they'll hunt for themselves.

As we saw, they still have a bit to learn.

Right now, it's time for Mum

to show them how it's done.

Hang on, guys. Wait for me!

Ah! I think the Cheetah mum has spotted something.

But I'm the size of a cub still, so I can't see over this long grass.

I need to get up higher.

I know!

A-ha!

OK.

Cheetahs may be really fast,

but they can only run for short periods,

then they just get tired.

What they need to do is get really close

and sneak up on their prey to begin with, just like she's doing now.

Oh, here she goes. Run like the wind!

Kip! Kip, guess what?!

-I'm riding on the back of a cheetah.

-Wow!

-I'm going so fast.

-How fast?

What does it say on the gizmo? 70 mph!

Whoa, that is super-fast!

Hang on a minute, it looks like she's slowing down.

This mum has run out of energy.

She's off to go and rest with her cubs until it's time to go again.
