-They belong to the primate family.

-orangutans love solitude.

-They spend most of their lives

-on their own.

-When a male orangutan is an adult...

-..he spends most of his time

-at the top of the trees.

-But, young orangutans spend most

-of their time with their mothers.

-For five years,

-mum carries them everywhere.

-Poor mum.

-Orangutans use their hands to walk.

-Notice how they ball their hands

-into fists.

-They're incredibly strong animals.

-The strength in their arms and legs

-allows them to hang upside down.

-They can hang

-in the trees for hours.

-They do this

-because the best leaves and fruit...

-..grow at the top of the tree.

-So, they need strength and patience

-to collect them.

-An orangutan

-is a very clever animal.

-It stops and looks around

-before solving a problem.

-An orangutan

-will sit for hours thinking.

-I wonder what

-they're thinking about.

-As I said earlier...

-..the orangutan belongs

-to the same family as the gorilla.

-They're just as clever.

-But, gorillas are much more social.

-They like to live in families.

-Mum, Dad and the kids

-spend hours together.

-Mam loves to feed and clean

-the children.

-Dad's job is to keep everyone safe.

-Neither gorillas

-nor orangutans have tails.

-That is what makes them different

-to monkeys.

-Every monkey has a tail.

-Monkeys don't use their arms

-to travel from place to place.

-Monkeys run along tree branches.

-It's much easier.

-Another interesting fact,

-monkeys like to eat bananas.

-They throw the skin away.

-It's raining at the zoo.

-has made herself a shelter.

-She's trying to avoid getting wet.

-We've got an old box...

-..some twigs, hay and leaves, Triog.

-We've got an old plastic bag too.

-So, the first thing we need to do

-is make holes in the old box.

-The hedgehog needs to access the box

-and needs to breathe.

-You're lucky because

-I've made the holes already.

-If you're doing it at home,

-ask an adult to help you.

-Scissors can be quite sharp.

-So, here we are.

-There's a hole in the front

-to help the hedgehog in.

-There's a little window

-in the side to help him breathe.

-We also have to make sure the

-hedgehog's house faces the sun.

-The sun can come in

-and keep it warm.

-Are you ready to try it out, Jayden?

-Do you want to come with us, Triog?

-Off we go.

-Hedgehogs spend

-half the year asleep.

-You won't see a single hedgehog

-between November and March.

-You won't see one anywhere.

-They'll all be sleeping like logs.

-So, if you want to encourage them

-Make sure there are plenty of leaves
